단말기용 이중 대역저지 특성을 가지는 초광대역 안테나 설계 및 구현 (Design and Implementation of UWB Antenna with Dual Band Rejection Characteristics for Mobile Handset)

  • 본 논문에서, 접힌구조의 기생소자를 갖는 이중대역을 저지하는 대역저지 UWB 안테나를 구현하였다. 제안된 안테나는 정육각형 평면 방사 패치를 갖는 안테나에 안테나의 윗면과 아랫면에 걸쳐 있는 접힌구조의 기생소자로 구성되어있다. 한가지 기법으로 하나의 대역을 저지시키는 기존의 다른 안테나와는 달리, 접힌구조의 기생소자는 하나의 간단한 구조를 통해 이중대역 저지를 만족한다. 접힌구조의 기생소자로 인해 이중대역은 WiMAX, C-band, 그리고 WLAN 대역을 저지시킨다. 제안된 안테나의 대역은 3.1~10.6 GHz에서 전압 정재파비는 이중대역저지 대역인 3.4~4.2 GHz, 5.15~6.00 GHz를 제외한 구간에서 2 이하를 만족한다.

  • 본 논문에서는 IEEE 802.11a OFDM(Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) 기반의 MIMO(Multiple Input Multiple Output) 시스템에서 별도의 피드백 채널 없이 ARQ(Automatic Repeat Request) 신호를 이용한 적응변조 기법을 제안한다. 제안한 기법은 일정수의 ACK(Acknowledgement)를 수신하면 이전 패킷의 변조단계로부터 변조 단계를 올리고 일정수의 NACK(Non-acknowledgement)를 수신하면 변조단계를 낮춤으로써 최적의 변조율을 추정하는 기술로 간단하고 빠른 수렴 속도를 갖는 장점이 있다. MIMO 시스템 기반의 본 논문에서는 모든 안테나의 전송률을 동일하게 조절하는 SRC(Same Rate Control)기법과 안테나별로 독립적으로 전송률을 조절하는 IRC(Individual Rate Control) 기법을 제안한다. 다양한 모의실험을 통하여 제안한 적응변조 기법들이 변조 방식이 고정된 기법뿐 아니라 기존의 ARQ를 이용하는 적응변조 기법에 비해서도 좋은 전송 효율을 나타냄을 확인하였다.

무선 LAN 시스템에서의 SNR 오프셋을 이용한 링크 적응화 (Link Adaptation with SNR Offset for Wireless LAN Systems)

  • 링크 적응 기법은 변하는 채널 조건에 맞는 최적의 MCS 레벨을 선택한다. 무선 LAN 시스템을 위한 다양한 링크 적응 알고리즘이 제안되었으나 802.11n과 같은 최근의 시스템에서 최적의 성능을 보장하지는 않는다. 본 논문에서는 수신 SNR과 전송 결과에 따라 얻어지는 오프셋 값을 이용한 새로운 링크 적응 알고리즘을 제안한다. 802.11n 시스템에서 모의실험을 하여 제안된 알고리즘과 잘 알려져 있는 ARF 및 일반적인 SNR기반 알고리즘과 그 성능을 비교해본다. 제안된 알고리즘은 PER에 제한이 있는 경우 시변채널에서 더 좋은 성능을 보인다.

Adaptive Packet Scheduling Scheme to Support Real-time Traffic in WLAN Mesh Networks

  • Due to multiple hops, mobility and time-varying channel, supporting delay sensitive real-time traffic in wireless local area network-based (WLAN) mesh networks is a challenging task. In particular for real-time traffic subject to medium access control (MAC) layer control overhead, such as preamble, carrier sense waiting time and the random backoff period, the performance of real-time flows will be degraded greatly. In order to support real-time traffic, an efficient adaptive packet scheduling (APS) scheme is proposed, which aims to improve the system performance by guaranteeing inter-class, intra-class service differentiation and adaptively adjusting the packet length. APS classifies incoming packets by the IEEE 802.11e access class and then queued into a suitable buffer queue. APS employs strict priority service discipline for resource allocation among different service classes to achieve inter-class fairness. By estimating the received signal to interference plus noise ratio (SINR) per bit and current link condition, APS is able to calculate the optimized packet length with bi-dimensional markov MAC model to improve system performance. To achieve the fairness of intra-class, APS also takes maximum tolerable packet delay, transmission requests, and average allocation transmission into consideration to allocate transmission opportunity to the corresponding traffic. Detailed simulation results and comparison with IEEE 802.11e enhanced distributed channel access (EDCA) scheme show that the proposed APS scheme is able to effectively provide inter-class and intra-class differentiate services and improve QoS for real-time traffic in terms of throughput, end-to-end delay, packet loss rate and fairness.

축소된 SMS4 블록 암호에 대한 향상된 안전성 분석 (Improved Security Analysis of Reduced SMS4 Block Cipher)

  • 본 논문에서는 중국 무선 네트워크 표준 WAPI에 사용되고 있는 블록 암호 SMS4에 대한 향상된 차분 공격 및 선형 공격을 소개한다: 먼저, SMS4의 전체 32 라운드 중 20또는 21 라운드에 적용된 기존 차분 공격을 22 라운드 차분 공격으로 확장하는 방법을 소개한다. 또한 22 라운드로 축소된 SMS4에 적용된 기존 선형 공격의 복잡도, $2^{119}$기지 평문, $2^{109}$ 메모리 바이트, $2^{117}$의 암호와 과정을 새로운 선형 근사식을 이용하여 $2^{117}$기지 평문, $2^{109}$ 메모리 바이트, $2^{112.24}$ 암호와 과정으로 향상시킨다. 본 논문의 분석 결과는 SMS4에 대해 알려진 공격 중 최상의 공격이다.

A New Green Clustering Algorithm for Energy Efficiency in High-Density WLANs

  • In this paper, a new green clustering algorithm is proposed to be as a first approach in the framework of an energy efficient strategy for centralized enterprise high-density WLANs. Traditionally, in order to maintain the network coverage, all the APs within the WLAN have to be powered-on. Nevertheless, the new algorithm can power-off a large proportion of APs while the coverage is maintained as its always-on counterpart. The two main components of the new approach are the faster procedure based on K-means and the more accurate procedure based on Evolutionary Algorithm (EA), respectively. The two procedures are processes in parallel for different designed requirements and there is information interaction in between. In order to implement the new algorithm, EA is applied to handle the optimization of multiple objectives. Moreover, we adapt the method for selection and recombination, and then introduce a new operator for mutation. This paper also presents simulations in scenarios modeled with ray-tracing method and FDTD technique, and the results show that about 67% to 90% of energy consumption can be saved while it is able to maintain the original network coverage during periods when few users are online or the traffic load is low.

위치기반서비스를 위한 무선 근거리통신망 기반의 사용자 추적방법 및 실험 (Wireless LAN-Based User Tracking Method and Experiment for Location-Based Services)

  • 위치기반서비스에서 사용자의 위치를 확인하고 추적하는 것이 필수적이다. 특히 옥내에서 위치기반서비스를 제공하기 위해 많은 연구자들은 무선 근거리통신망 환경에서 사용자의 옥내 위치추적에 대해 연구를 수행해 오고 있다. 한편, GPS를 이용하는 옥외에서의 위치추 적에는 칼만필터(Kalman filter)가 이용되기도 하였다. 본 연구에서는 오늘날 널리 보급되어 있는 무선 근거리통신망 환경에서 옥내 위치추적에 적용될 수 있는 확장칼만필터 방법을 제안한다. 기존 연구와 본 제안방법을 비교 실험한 결과, 칼만 필터를 사용함으로써 궤적 측정치의 정확도를 제고할 수 있으며, 나아가서 지도정보를 이용함으로써 정확도를 더욱 제고할 수 있음을 보인다.

Bridging Solutions for a Heterogeneous WiMAX-WiFi Scenario

  • Recently, the metropolitan area network (MAN) has attracted much attention in telecommunication research and has emerged as one of the most important research topics in the community. Several standards representing the first step for developing metropolitan networks have been published; IEEE 802.16 (WiMAX) has taken a relevant role in reaching the goal of realizing a full-service network all over a urban and suburban area. At the same time, the wireless local area networks (WLAN) have been widely used for in-home or short range communications, mainly basing on the IEEE 802.11 (WiFi) standard. A consequence is the increasing interest in interworking technology, that allows an interconnection between different standards by maintaining certain properties, mainly in terms of quality of service (QoS). One of the major issues is to design bridging devices capable of transparently interconnect different wireless technologies. In this paper, we propose two interconnection bridging solutions between WiMAX and WiFi links; the first is more based on the concept of maintaining a certain end-to-end QoS level independently from the wireless technologies used. The second method is more devoted to the reduction of the implementation complexity at the cost of no QoS assurance. The performance of the two methods are compared by resorting to computer simulations showing the advantages of each one technique.

  • With advance in technologies for wireless sensor networks(WSNs), 2.4 GHz band has become gradually attractive due to increase in low-power wireless communication devices. Especially ZigBee(IEEE 802.15.4-based) technology whose frequency band includes the 2.4GHz industrial, scientific and medical band providing nearly worldwide availability has been universally applicable to a various remote monitoring system and applications related home network system. However network throughput of these systems is significantly deteriorated due to this ISM band is a license-exemption used in a variety of low-power wireless communication devices. For instance, other IEEE 802 wireless standards such as Bluetooth, WLAN, Wi-Fi and others cause radio interference to ZigBee. The experiments was carried out to analyze radio frequency interference between heterogeneous devices using ISM bands to improve the limited frequency utility factor. Finally this paper suggests a frequency hopping-based adaptive multi-channel methods to decrease interference with empirical results.

Load Aware Automatic Channel Switching for Software-Defined Enterprise WLANs

  • In the last decade, the 2.4 GHz band of IEEE 802.11 WLANs has become heavily congested due to the explosive increase in demand of Wi-Fi connectivity. With the current deployment of enterprise WLANs, channel switching mechanism continues to exhibit inefficiencies because it cannot adapt to real-time channel condition and the inability to support seamless channel switching. Software Defined Networking (SDN) as an emerging architecture is promising to introduce flexibility and programmability for wireless network management. Leveraging SDN to existing enterprise WLANs, channel switching method can be improved significantly. This paper presents a software-defined enterprise WLAN framework with a load aware automatic channel switching solution, which utilizes AP load and channel interference factor (CIF) to provide seamless channel switching. Two automatic channel switching algorithms named Single Switch (SS) and Double Switch (DS) are proposed to improve the overall user experience and the experience of users with highest traffic load respectively. Experiment results demonstrate that our solution can efficiently improve user experience in terms of jitter, transmission delay and network throughout when compared to the conventional channel switching mechanism.
