Home security has become the prime concern for everyone in present scenario. In this work an attempt has been made to develop a home security system which is accessible, affordable and yet effective.The proposed system is based on 'Remote Embedded Control System' (RECS) which works both on the web and gsm platform for authentication and monitoring. This system is therefore cost effective as it relies on existing network infrastructure. As PCA is most popular and efficient algorithm for face recognition, it has been usedin this work. Next to it an interface has been developed for communication purpose in the embedded security system through the ZigBee module. Based on this embedded system, automated control of door movement has been implemented through electromagnetic door lock technology. This helps the users to monitor the real-time activities through web services/SMS. The web service consists of either web browser command or e-mail provision. The system establishes the communication between the system and authenticated user. The e-mail received by the system from the authorized person will monitor and control the real-time operation and door lock. The entire control system is reinforced using ARM1176JZF-S microcontroller and tested for actual use in the home environment. The result shows the experimental verification of the proposed system.

A Internet-based dynamic simulation system, called P-DYN, for multibody dynamic systems is developed. All the interfaces of the system are accessible via Web browsers, such as Netscape or Explorer. The system uses a template type P-DYN/Modeler as a preprocessor. The P-DYN postprocessor composed of P-DYN/Plotter and P-DYN/Animator is developed in JAVA. The P-DYN/Solver for predicting the dynamic behavior is run on the server. Anyone who wants to simulate the dynamics of multibody systems or share results data can access the analysis system over the Internet regardless of their OS, platform, or location.

인터넷이 상용화된 요즈음, 웹을 기반으로 한 동영상 e-mail 시스템이 본격적으로 필요한 시기이다. 그러나 비디오 데이터는 너무 용량이 커서 상당한 압축을 하지 않는다면 인터넷 상에서의 전송이 매우 어렵다. 본 연구에서는 국제 표준으로 자리잡은 MPEG-4 기술을 이용하여 동영상 메일을 구현하면서, 기존의 방법으로는 해결하기 힘든 동영상의 실시간 압축, 웹 상에서의 자유로운 접근을 가능하게 하는 액티브 엑스 제어(Active X Control) 기술 등을 동영상 및 오디오 압축 기술과 함께 개발하여 적용하였다. 이 기술을 이용하면 누구나 자유롭게 동영상 메일을 전세계 어디로나 보내는 것이 가능하다. 한편 이 기술의 주요한 응용분야는 멀티미디어 메일링 서비스, 동영상 광고, 원격 교육 및 진료, 쇼핑 물 구축 등이다.

Recently firms which have been using traditional VAN-EDI are adapting Web-EDI at very rapid pace. Based on the Internet, Web-EDI is easier to install, is cheaper and more accessible than VAN-EDI. Web-EDI establishes an electronic hierarchy as a type of Inter-Organization Information System. An electronic hierarchy connects two legally separate firms in an electronically mediated relationship. The primary reasons for establishing an electronic hierarchy is to improve the flow of materials and information between firms. This paper suggests two hypotheses that describe the possible impact of Web-EDI on firms in the Web-EDI network, and empirically tests them using data from a case study based on a discount store. The result is as follows. First, the more a firm utilizes information shared through Web-EDI, the higher the inventory turns. Second, a higher level of information sharing does not necessarily increase the inventory turns of Web-EDI adopters who are coerced to implement the electronic networks by the champion. These findings imply that the operational performance of Web-EDI adopters can be improved only when the firms intensively utilize the information shared through Web-EDI for their business processes.

VWorld is run by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport of South Korea and provides national spatial information, such as aerial images, digital elevation models, and 3D structural models. We propose herein an open platform for 3D spatial information based on WebGL using spatial information from VWorld. WebGL is a web-based graphics library and has the advantage of being compatible with various web browsers. Our open platform is also compatible with various web browsers. Accordingly, it is easily accessible via the VWorld site and uses the three-dimensional (3D) map program. In this study, we describe the proposed platform configuration, and the requests, management, and visualization approaches for VWorld spatial information data. Our aim is to establish an approach that will provide a stable rendering speed even on a low-end personal computer without a graphics processing unit based on a quadtree structure. We expect that users will be able to visualize 3D spatial information through the VWorld open platform, and that the proposed platform will become the basis for various applications.

본 논문은 웹 환경에서 기존의 웹서비스 골격과 기능을 유지하면서, 에이전트 사이를 조정하여 웹 서비스를 지원하는 새로운 시스템을 설계하고 구현하였다. 본 논문에서는 제안한 LDL을 사용함으로 에이전트가 사용자의 요청을 동적으로 수행 할 수 있었고, 그룹화된 에이전트들이 공동의 목표를 상호 협력적으로 수행하기 위해 위임 과정을 수행함으로써 멀티 에이전트에 의한 웹서비스의 가능성을 보였다. 구현된 시스템의 검증을 위해서 수식계산 시나리오를 사용하였으며, 실험결과 제안한 새로운 시스템은 웹 서비스를 위해 필요한 모듈 검색의 시간 비용이 절감됨을 알 수 있었으며, 일반 사용자도 쉽게 접근이 가능하였다.

Purpose: The purpose of this project was to develop an international web-based expert system using principals of artificial intelligence and user-centered design for management of mental health by Korean emigrants. Using this system, anyone can access the system via computer access to the web. Methods: Our design process utilized principles of user-centered design with 4 phases: needs assessment, analysis, design/development/testing, and application release. A survey was done with 3,235 Korean emigrants. Focus group interviews were also conducted. Survey and analysis results guided the design of the web-based expert system. Results: With this system, anyone can check their mental health status by themselves using a personal computer. The system analyzes facts based on answers to automated questions, and suggests solutions accordingly. A history tracking mechanism enables monitoring and future analysis. In addition, this system will include intervention programs to promote mental health status. Conclusion: This system is interactive and accessible to anyone in the world. It is expected that this management system will contribute to Korean emigrants' mental health promotion and allow researchers and professionals to share information on mental health.

This paper describes the development of the database system for tunnel management of Korea National Railways. In order to make the system both target independent and accessible by KNR network or modem, authors developed the system as a web-based application using java language and IBM DB2 database. The system includes the searching, reporting, graphical representation and statistical functions for tunnel data, maintenance records and checking records. Later, the system will be extended to include the process for tunnel state rating and maintenace prioritiy decision-making.

본 연구의 목적은 정보화 사회로의 급속한 변화에 따른 대학 캠퍼스 내의 시설물들을 관리하고 활용하는데 있어서, GIS를 이용하여 웹을 통해 관리 및 서비스 할 수 있는 기술적 가능성과 장점 등을 확인하고, 이에 따른 Web GIS 공간관리시스템 구조를 실현하는 것이다. 연구결과 GIS 기술을 이용한 대학시설 공간관리와 웹 기술을 이용한 정보의 활용 및 서비스의 접목이 가능함을 확인하였고. 이에 의하여 기존에 정보 구축에 드는 비용, 시간, 노동력 등을 절감할 수 있음을 알 수 있었다. 또한 웹 환경을 통한 "정보화"라는 시대적 표구에 부응하여 DB 구축의 방향을 설정하고, 사용자 중심의 인터페이스를 설계하여 실용적인 시스템 구조를 제시하였다.

This paper presents a new architecture, called "Power Electronics Remote Wiring and Measurement Laboratory (PermLAB)", that translates a common gateway interface (CGI) string from a remote web user to a web server connected to a 3-dimension switching matrix board, can be used to switch on and off, and to control a cluster of instruments and components. PermLAB addresses real-time connection, switching, and data acquisition over the Internet instead of using simulated data. A software procedure uses a signature system to identify each instrument and component in a complex system. The Web-server application is developed in HTML, JavaScript and Java, and in C language for the CGI interface, which resides in a controller portion of LabVIEW. The LabVIEW software fully integrates the Web sever, LabVIEW data acquisition boards and controllers, and the 3-dimensional switching matrix board. The paper will analyze a half-wave rectifier (AC - DC converter) circuit connected over the Internet using the PermLAB. PermLAB allows students to obtain real data by real-time wiring of real circuits in the laboratory using a "virtual breadboard" on the Web. The software for the Web-based 3-dimensional system is flexible, portable, can be integrated into many laboratory applications or expanded, and easily accessible worldwide.
