Adaptive Feedback Interference Cancellation Using Correlations for WCDMA Wireless Repeaters (WCDMA용 무선중계기에서 상관도를 이용한 적응적 궤환 간섭 제거)

  • As the mobile communication service is widely used and the demand for wireless repeaters is rapidly increasing because of the easiness of extending service areas. But a wireless repeater has a problem that the output of the transmit antenna is partially fed back to the receive antenna, which results in feedback interference. In this paper, we propose a new varable step-size LMS algorithm which utilizes correlation between reference and error signals to adjust the step sizes, for cancelling the feedback interference signals in the WCDMA repeater under time-varying multi-path channels. The proposed algorithm was evaluated through computer simualation by being applied to the feedback canceling filter of the WCDMA repeater. The simulation results demonstrated that the proposed one is superior to the conventional ones in terms of the cancelation perormance.

Iub Congestion Detection Method for WCDMA HSUPA Network to Improve User Throughput (WCDMA HSUPA 망의 성능 향상을 위한 Iub 혼잡 검출 방법)

  • High Speed Uplink Packet Access(HSUPA) is a WCDMA Release 6 technology which corresponds to High Speed Downlink Packet Access(HSDPA). Node B Supports fast scheduling, Hybrid ARQ(HARQ), short Transmission Time Interval(TTI) for high rate uplink packet data. It is very important to detect Iub congestion to improve end user's Quality of Service(QoS). This paper proposes Node B Congestion Detection(BCD) mechanism and suggests to use the hybrid of Transport Network Layer(TNL) congestion detection and BCD. It is shown that HSUPA user throughput performance can be improved by the proposed method even with small Iub bandwidth.

  • A candidate hybrid satellite and terrestrial network architecture, MSS/ATC(Mobile Satellite Service/Ancillary Terrestrial Component), is proposed for utilizing efficiently the exist MSS bands. Studies on the adjacent channel interference from the existing terrestrial mobile services and MSS/ATC itself are important to allocate a new ATC service frequency in MSS band. In this paper, we have analyzed the minimum permission power of terrestrial base station and the capacity loss with parameters of ACIR, number of MS(mobile Station) and MES(Mobile Earth Station) in uplink, and also, the capacity performance based on 1 beam and 1 cell assumption for MSS/ATC in downlink. The ACIR requirements are estimated in two MSS/ATC frequency allocation scenarios for 5 MHz and 10 MHz guard band to share spectrum with adjacent systems, and according to these ACIR requirements the service coverage and the receiver filter for ATC system should be designed in near future.

  • To study the feasibility of applying wireless communication technology to the control of train for the effective control of train and for the reduction of cost and time to construct the necessary infra structure, we investigate into the application of the existing commercial WCDMA network to CBTC (communication-based train control) to grasp the obstacles and propose the solutions to circumvent them. The obstacles can be categorized into the hand-off problem, the interference problem near the stations, and the problem of radio shadow areas. We propose, as solutions, the cell overlap method and multi-terminal approach for the hand-off problem, the cell sectoring method for the interference problem, and establishment of new base stations along the railroad both to provide the wireless train control and communication service to the customers on the train which was otherwise impossible because of the shadowing effect.

Evaluation of an Efficient Channel Estimator for the STTD Schemes

  • This paper evaluates the performance combining space-time transmit diversity (STTD) and an efficient channel estimator (ECE) for wideband code division multiple access (WCDMA) systems in various mobile channels. Using decision variable (DV), we also derive the analytic bit error rate (BER) and mean square error (MSE) for WCDMA applying ECE for STTD schemes. The simulation results show that the ECE performance is superior to the previous works in [1] as because we use additional pilot diversity which is so called secondary common control physical channel (S-CCPCH). The performance in case of the channel estimator using only one-channel or two-channel is worse than that of an ECE as about the maximum 4 dB at BER 1.0E-3 satisfying voice service over Rician fading channel. Our results show that, even with ICE, an ECE algorithm are effective in improving the output SNR and significantly reduce the error floor. In addition, the simulation results investigated in this paper also reveal that WCDMA combining an ECE and the STTD scheme could provide appreciable performance improvements in Rayleigh fading channel.

  • In recent years, mobile communication service is used extensively as a larger service area for the maintenance of quality of service required by the expansion of service areas and As the ever-increasing role in relays, and the location is relatively easy to install and less constrained costs, operating cost savings in terms of ICS(Interference Cancellation System) repeaters are required. However, an adaptive algorithm that is applied when updating the filter due to the increase in volume of operations increase the complexity of hardware implementation is fraught with many difficulties. In this paper, if there is a path that feedback. ICS repeater utilizing baseband signal processing for the removal of interfering signals from the feedback operation, significantly reducing the amount of reducing hardware complexity Complex Singed Signed LMS adaption algorithm is proposed. Proposed algorithm for evaluating the performance of Static channel WCDMA signal environment for the ICS, the results of the simulation algorithm, convergence speed and better performance in therms of convergence errors that are required through the implementation of the operation greatly reduces the amount of hardware complexity able to reduce the effect was visible.

  • Today, According to it widely used that third generation mobile networks service, WCDMA module development technology and its utilization is expanding increasingly and thus to IT Convergence industries is a trend that a lot of appears. This paper, OBD-II communications to bring a vehicle information use and data to an external server transfer and it was developed that vehicle status monitoring from other external devices can be system. From the various sensors inside a vehicle using the OBD-II connector read the information, after converting the user easier to see, WCDMA module using the car status monitoring system to transfer to an external data server was implemented. Developed to test the performance of the system using virtual's state vehicle simulator, which occurs in the real car that will generate the data. It was sent to the OBD-II connector to be occurred data, vehicle status monitoring system was confirmed that Data was received without error. In addition, When this data using WCDMA transmit data to an external server the same data was confirmed that it was received without error. In the future, this technology using the OBD-II vehicle IT convergence technology can be used in a wide range.

UE Measurement Based Compressed Mode in WCDMA (WCDMA 시스템에서 단말 측정에 의한 압축 모드 방법)

  • The compressed mode is used to perform inter-frequency and inter-system handover in WCDMA. The instantaneous transmit power is increased in the compressed frame in order to keep the QoS(Quality of Service) unaffected by the reduced processing gain. Furthermore, since the inner loop power control is not active during the transmission gap and the effect of interleaving is decreased, a higher Eb/No target is required, which directly affects the system performance. Due to the impact on performance, the compressed mode should be activated by the RNC(Radio Network Controller) only when there is real need to execute an inter-frequency or inter-system handover. However, 3GPP does not define the method that decides the compressed mode activation. In order to reduce performance degradation, there is need the decision method. In this paper, we consider a combined cell structure in which some neighbor cells have a frequency the same as serving cell and the others have a different frequency or system. Under consideration, we analyze the effect of the compressed mode on the WCDMA forward link performance. In order to avoid performance degradation, we propose an UE(User Equipment) measurement method that can restrict the activation area of the compressed mode of UE that does not need it and evaluate its performance by simulations. Analytical results show that the use of the compressed mode affects the performance degradation. And simulation results show that proposed method leads to better performance.

  • Recently mobile communication systems have supported various multimedia services based on wideband code division multiple access (WCDMA). In November 2013, the statistics reported that the domestic subscriber number of mobile communication systems was totally 54 million 514 thousand 397 in using feature phones and smart phones. Therefore, the user number of mobile communication services has surpassed over 4 million rather than the whole number of population. The sharp increase of the mobile user number has made the network management and analysis for mobile communication services more important than before. Besides, the service quality has been studied in various ways. This paper has implemented the simulator calculating the channel capacity of mobile communication systems to support secure and stable services for both feature phones on CDMA and smart phones on WCDMA. By using the simulator, this paper has analyzed the characteristics of the various channel capacity in mobile communication environments.

  • IMT-2000 service started around year of 2000 to support global roaming with high speed data rate. But 3GPP and 3GPP2 could not narrow gaps between them to make separate specification. To make it worse, economy regression delayed deployment. Starting 2007, WCDMA, standardized in 3GPP, was launched in Korea by KT and SKT. 3GPP introduced HSDPA and HSUPA as an enabler for high speed down and uplink packet service, in release5 and release5, respectively.
