A Study on New Technique Development for Creep Evaluation of Heat Resistant Steel Weldment (I) (내열강 용접부의 크리프 평가 신기술 개발에 관한 연구(I))

  • It has been reported that the creep characteristics on weldment which is composed of weld metal(W.M), fusion line(F.L), heat-affected zone(HAZ), and base meta(B.M) could be unpredictably changed in severe service conditions such as high temperature and high pressure. However, the studies done on creep damage in power plant components have been mostly conducted on B.M and not the creep properties of the localized microstructures in weldment have been thoroughly investigated yet. In this paper, it is investigated the creep characteristics for three microstructures like coarse-grain HAZ(CGHAZ), W.M, and B.M in X20CrMoV121 steel weldment by the small punch-creep-(SP-Creep) test using miniaturized specimen($10{\times}10{\times}0.5mm$). The W.M microstructure possesses the higher creep resistance and shows lower creep strain rate than the B.M and CGHAZ. In the lower creep load the highest creep strain rate is exhibited in CGHAZ, whereas in the higher creep load the B.M represents the high creep strain rate. The power law correlation for all microstructures exists between creep rate and creep load at $600^{\circ}C$. The values of creep load index (n) based on creep strain rate for B.M, CGHAZ, and W.M are 7.54, 4.23, and 5.06, respectively and CGHAZ which shows coarse grains owing to high welding heat has the lowest creep loade index. In all creep loads, the creep life for W.M shows the highest value.

Fabrication of Porous Mo by Freeze-Drying and Hydrogen Reduction of MoO3/Camphene Slurry (MoO3/camphene 슬러리의 동결건조 및 수소환원에 의한 Mo 다공체 제조)

  • In order to fabricate the porous Mo with controlled pore characteristics, unique processing by using $MoO_3$ powder as the source and camphene as the sublimable material is introduced. Camphene-based 15 vol% $MoO_3$ slurries, prepared by milling at $50^{\circ}C$ with a small amount of dispersant, were frozen at $-25^{\circ}C$. Pores were generated subsequently by sublimation of the camphene during drying in air for 48 h. The green body was hydrogen-reduced at $750^{\circ}C$, and sintered at $1000-1100^{\circ}C$ for 1 h. After heat treatment in hydrogen atmosphere, $MoO_3$ powders were completely converted to metallic W without any reaction phases. The sintered samples showed large pores with the size of about $150{\mu}m$ which were aligned parallel to the camphene growth direction. Also, the internal wall of large pores and near bottom part of specimen had relatively small pores due to the difference in the camphene growth rate during freezing process. The size of small pores was decreased with increase in sintering temperature, while that of large pores was unchanged. The results are strongly suggested that the porous metal with required pore characteristics can be successfully fabricated by freeze-drying process using metal oxide powders.

Effect of Cr, Mo and W on the Microstructure of Al Hot Dipped Carbon Steels

  • A low carbon steel, Fe-2.25%Cr steel (ASTM T22), and Fe-2.25%Cr-1.6%W steel (ASTM T23) were aluminized by hot dipping into molten Al baths. After hot-dipping, a thin Al-rich topcoat and a thick alloy layer formed on the surface. The topcoat consisted primarily of a thin Al layer that contained a small amount of Fe, whereas the alloy layer consisted of Al-Fe intermetallics such as $Al_5Fe_2$ and AlFe. Cr, Mo, and W in T22 and T23 steels reduced the thickness of the topcoat and the alloy layer, and flattened the reaction front of the aluminized layer, when compared to the low carbon steel.

  • Hundred mineral deposits including W-Mo, Pb-Zn-Cu, fluorite and talc occur in the Cambre-Ordovician limestone contacting with the Cretaceous Muamsa and Wolak granitoids in the Susanri-Hwanggangri mineralized zone. In most mineral deposits characterized by metasomatic replacement, skarn and hydrothermal vein types, two distinct tendencies were found as W-Mo mineralization in or/and near granitoid batholith and ($Pb-Zn-Cu(CaF_2)$) mineralization which is gradually increased toward the batholith. W-Mo veins of extensive vein system occupy northly striking fractures whilst $Pb-Zn-Cu-CaF_2$ veins strike northeast or northwest. In this work, three representative lead-zinc-copper deposits choosing the Dangdu, Useog and Eoksu mines were dealt with in detail. Skarn ore bodies in the Dangdu mine were grouped into early diopside rich clinopyoxene-garnet, barren skarn and ore bearing late hedenbergite rich clinopyroxene-garnet skarn. Temperature and $X_{CO_2}$, obtained from hedenbergite-andradite-calcite-quartz mineral equilibria in the Dangdu ore deposits were $580{\sim}650^{\circ}C$ and 0.15~0.3, respectively. Fluid inclusien evidence in the Useog mine indicates that main stage mineralization temperature ranges from 224 to $389^{\circ}C$ with a salinity of 2~17 equivalent wt. percent NaCl. Sphalerites from the Dangdu and Useog mines have 16~17.7 mole percent in FeS which is relatively consistent to those of some other lend-zinc ore deposits in South Korea. Filling tcmjCerature of fluid inclusion frem the Eoksu mine shows deposition of ore within the temperature ranges from 237 to $347^{\circ}C$ and within the salinity ranges from 2.6 to 10.77 equivalent wt. percent NaCl.

Fluid Inclusions of Daehwa and Donsan Tungsten-Molybdenum Deposits (대화(大華) 및 돈산(敦山) 중석(重石)·모리브덴 광상(鑛床)의 유체포유물(流體包有物))

  • Mineralization of Daehwa and Donsan W-Mo deposits can be devided into three distinct depositional stages on the basis of mineral paragenesis and flnid inclusion studies; stage I, deposition of oxides and silicates ; stage II, deposition of base-metal sulfides and sulfosalts with carbonates; stage III, deposition of barren calcite and fluorite. Tungsten, molybdenum and tin mineralization occurred in stage I. Fluid inclusion studies reveal that ore fluid of stage I were homogeneous $H_2O-CO_2$ fluids containing 3.5~14.6 mol % $CO_2$. Minimum temperature and pressure of stage I ore fluids were $240^{\circ}C$ and 500 bars respectively. Salinities of aqueous type I inclusions in minerals of stage I range from 3.7 to 7.6 wt. % equi. NaCl. whereas those of $CO_2$-containing type III inclusions range from 0.3 to 4.4 wt. %. Temperatures of stage II ore fluids range from 200 to $305^{\circ}C$ on the whole and salinities were in the range of 3.2~7.2 wt. %. Homogenization temperatures of fluid inclusions in calcite and fluorite of stage III range from 114 to $186^{\circ}C$ and salinities were in the range of 0.9~4.3 wt. %. Sulfur fugacities during stage II deduced from mineral assemblages and tamperature data from fluid inclusions declined from earlier to later in the range of $10^{-11}{\sim}10^{-18}atm$. Fluid inclusion evidences suggest that the dominance of $CO_2$ in ore fluid during W-Mo mineralization is the characteristic features of Cretaceous W-Mo deposits of central district of Korea compared to those of Kyeongsang basin district.

A Study on Solidification and Wear Character of Multi-alloyed White Cast Iron

  • 응고 및 마모거동을 연구하기 위하여 Cr, V, Mo 및 W의 조성이 다른 3종류의 백주철을 주조하였다. 고주파유도용해로에서 장입시켜 1873K까지 승온시켜 장입원료들을 모두 용해시킨 후 1823K에서 Y블럭주형에 주입하였다. 얻어진 3종류의 백주철조성은 다음과 같다: Fe-3%C-10%Cr-5%Mo-5%W(합금1), Fe-3%C-10%V-5%Mo-5%W(합금2) 및 Fe-3%C-17%Cr-3%V(합금 3)응고과정을 추적하기 위하여 각 시편으로부터 50g을 채취한 후 알루미나도가니에 넣고 실리콘카바이드로를 사용하여 1723K의 알콘분위기하에서 재용해를 시켰다. 용금을 10K/분의 속도로 냉각시키면서 열분석을 행하였으며 도중 몇 차례 소입 실험을 병행하였다.합금1의 경우 초정오스테나이트, (오스테나이트+$M_7C_3$)공정, (오스테나이트+$M_6C$)공정, 합금2의 경우 초정 MC, 초정오스테나이트, (오스테나이트+MC)공정 , (오스테나이트+$M_2C$)공정, 합금3의 경우 초정 $M7C_3$와 (오스테나이트+$M_7C_3$)공정으로 구성되어 있었다. 주방상태, 균질화열처러상태, 공냉상태, 템퍼링상태에서 내마모시험을 행하였다. 먼저 주방상태시 편을 진공분위기하에서 1223K에서 5시간동안 균질화열처리를 행한후 로냉을 시켰다. 다시 이 시편을 1323K에서 2시간 유지후 강제공냉을 시켰으며 강제공냉된 시편을 573K에서 3시간동안 템퍼링처리를 하였다. 내마모시험은 120 mesh마모지에 10N의 하중을 가하여 실시하였다. 각 사이클마다 무게감소를 측정하였으며 8번 반복실험을 하였다. 마모량은 균질화열처리시편, 주방상태시편, 템퍼링시편, 공냉시편의 순으로 감소하였다. 합금2가 마모량이 가장 적었으며 합금3이 가장 많았다. 합금2의 마모량이 가장 적은 이유는 조직이 초정 MC, 공정 MC 및 공정 M2C로 구성되어 있기 때문으로 사료된다.주방상태에서 기지조직은 퍼얼라이트이었으나 열처리를 통하여 마르텐사이트, 템퍼드마르텐사이트, 잔류오스테나이트로 변태하였다. 이상의 결과를 종합해 보면 MC가 내마모성에 가장 기여하는 조직으로 판단되어진다.
