Objectives: The purpose of this study is to report the effect of Korean medicine treatments on a vulvodynia. Methods: The patients appealed for chronic vulvar pain with no clear identifiable cause. Two patients suffered from generalized vulvodynia, one suffered from provoked vestibulodynia. They were treated by Korean medical treatments, such as herbal medicine, acupuncture and moxibustion. Results: After the treatment, the vulvar pain decreased. One suffered from provoked vestibulodynia succeeded in having non-painful penetrative sexual intercourse. Conclusions: This study shows that Korean medicine treatments were effective in reducing symptoms of vulvodynia.

Objectives: The purpose of this review is to overview the studies of acupuncture treatment for vulvodynia. Methods: In order to investigate the effect of acupuncture treatment for vulvodynia, we searched relevant studies in Pubmed, Cochrane, Oasis, KISS up to October 2018. After searching studies, we analyzed selected studies. Results: Six studies were included in this review. There were 3 randomized controlled studies and 3 before and after studies. The outcome measurement of vulvodynia was divided into pain, sexual function, and quality of life. The acupuncture treatment was effective in relieving vulvar pain, dyspareunia and improving quality of life. Conclusions: This study shows that acupuncture treatment is one of effective treatment methods for vulvodynia. Further large randomized placebo controlled trials will be needed.

Vulvodynia is the term used to describe unexplained vulvar pain, sexual dysfunction, and the resultant psychological disability. Vulvodynia may cause physical disabilities, psychological or emotional distress, sexual dysfunction and limitation of daily activities. But its etiologies and treatments are not defined yet. In vulvodynia, the first method of treatment is conservative treatment. surgery is carried out on patients who have failed consevative therapy. In conservative therapy, the rate of improvements is low, 30-40%Surgical procedures are effective in almost patients, but the efficacy is not known in patients with the riskiness. This study is designed to find best way of evaluation about the vulvodynia.

Purpose: This study was performed to evaluate anti-thrombotic and anti-inflammatory effects of NeungaSoJeokTang water extract (NSJT). Methods: In the study of anti-inflammatory effects, NSJT was investigated using cultured cells and murine models. As for the parameters of inflammation, levels of several inflammatory cytokines and chemical mediators which are known to be related to inflammation were determined in mouse lung fibroblast cells(mLFC) and RAW 264.7 cells. Results: Prior to the experiment, we evaluated sGOT, sGPT, BUN and creatine after the treatment. As a result, NSJT was innoxious on liver and kidney. In experiment of anti-thrombotic effect, NSJT inhibited the platelet aggregation induced by ADP and epinephrine, and inhibited pulmonary embolism induced by collagen and epinephrine. NSJT did not affect significantly the blood flow rate both in vitro and in vivo. NSJT increased platelet number and fibrinogen amount, and NSJT shortened PT and APTT in thrombus model induced by dextran. In experiment of anti-inflammatory effect, NSJT inhibited $IL-1{\beta}$, IL-6, $TNF-{\alpha}$, COX-2 and NOS-II mRNA expression in a concentration-dependent manner in RAW 264.7 cell line, and inhibited significantly NO production at 50, 100 ${\mu}g/ml$, and also inhibited ROS production in a concentration-dependent manner. NSJT inhibited $IL-1{\beta}$, IL-6 and $TNF-{\alpha}$ production significantly in serum of acute inflammation-induced Balb/c mice, and decreased $IL-1{\beta}$, IL-6 and $TNF-{\alpha}$ production in spleen tissue, but increased $IL-1{\beta}$, IL-6 and $TNF-{\alpha}$ production in liver tissue. NSJT increased survival rate at the 3th day in ICR mice with lethal endotoxemia induced by LPS. Conclusion: These results suggest that NSJT can be used for treating diverse female diseases caused by thrombosis and inflammation such as pelvic pain, pelvic inflammatory disease as well as vulvar pain due to vulvitis, vulvar vestibulitis and so on.

Objectives: This case study was designed to evalute the effect of Korean medical treatment on genital ulcer. Methods: This patient was treated with herbal medicine of Palmul-tang (八物湯), Yongdamsagan-tang (龍膽瀉肝湯), acupuncture and herbal applications. This efficacy of treatment was evaluated with inspection and patient's report. Results: After treatments, the patient's symptoms such as genital ulcer, erythema and swelling were improved. Conclusions: This case report shows that the Korean medical treatment is effective in the treatment of genital ulceration.
