  • Recent developments in hacking technology are continuing to increase the number of new security vulnerabilities. Approximately 80,000 new vulnerabilities have been registered in the Common Vulnerability Enumeration (CVE) database, which is a representative vulnerability database, from 2010 to 2015, and the trend is gradually increasing in recent years. While security vulnerabilities are growing at a rapid pace, responses to security vulnerabilities are slow to respond because they rely on manual analysis. To solve this problem, there is a need for a technology that can automatically detect and patch security vulnerabilities and respond to security vulnerabilities in advance. In this paper, we propose the technology to extract the features of the vulnerability-discovery target binary through complexity analysis, and select a vulnerability-discovery strategy suitable for the feature and automatically explore the vulnerability. The proposed technology was compared to the AFL, ANGR, and Driller tools, with about 6% improvement in code coverage, about 2.4 times increase in crash count, and about 11% improvement in crash incidence.

  • As Internet use is widespread advertising through the Web, shopping, banking, etc. As the various services offered by the network, the need for Web security is increasing. A security system for the protection of information assets and systems against various types of external hacking threats and unlawful intrusion will require. Intrusion Detection Tool of the paper web will have is to increase the security level, to prevent the loss of resources and labor spent by the individual monitoring of the web. Security intrusion detection system analyzes the cause of the problem of the security vulnerability and exposure of the information on the Web. Using a monitor to determine a fast support of security is to design a security system for the purpose of protecting the information security vulnerability and exposure information.

  • Survivability assessments and vulnerability reductions are required in warship design. A warship's survivability is assessed by its susceptibility, vulnerability, and recoverability. In this paper, an integrated survivability assessment for a warship subjected to multiple hits is introduced. The methodology aims at integrating a survivability assessment into an early stage of warship design. The hull surface is idealized using typical geometries for RCS (Radar Cross Section) detection probability and susceptibility. The Vulnerability is evaluated by using the shot-line. The recoverability is estimated using a survival time analysis. This enables the variation of survivability to be assessed. Several parameters may be varied to determine their effects on the survivability. The susceptibility is assessed by the probability of detecting the radar cross section of the subject and the probability of being hit based on a probability density function. The vulnerability is assessed by the kill probability based on the vulnerable area of critical components, according to the component's layout and redundancy. Recoverability is assessed by the recovery time for damaged critical components.

  • The purpose of this study is to find out quantitative vulnerability assessment about COTS(Commercial Off The Shelf) O/S based I&C System. This paper analyzed vulnerability's lifecycle and it's impact. this paper is to develop a quantitative assessment of overall cyber security risks and vulnerabilities I&C System by studying the vulnerability analysis and prediction method. The probabilistic vulnerability assessment method proposed in this study suggests a modeling method that enables setting priority of patches, threshold setting of vulnerable size, and attack path in a commercial OS-based measurement control system that is difficult to patch an immediate vulnerability.

  • We examine the weaknesses of the existing OOXML-based MS-Word file structure, and analyze how data concealment and forgery are performed in MS-Word digital documents. In case of forgery by including hidden information in MS-Word digital document, there is no difference in opening the file with the MS-Word Processor. However, the computer system may be malfunctioned by malware or shell code hidden in the digital document. If a malicious image file or ZIP file is hidden in the document by using the structural vulnerability of the MS-Word document, it may be infected by ransomware that encrypts the entire file on the disk even if the MS-Word file is normally executed. Therefore, it is necessary to analyze forgery and alteration of digital document through internal structure analysis of MS-Word file. In this paper, we designed and implemented a mechanism to detect this efficiently and automatic detection software, and presented a method to proactively respond to attacks such as ransomware exploiting MS-Word security vulnerabilities.

  • Cyber threats on the Internet are tremendously increasing and their techniques are also evolving constantly. Intrusion Detection System (IDS) is one of the powerful solutions for detecting and analyzing the cyber attacks in realtime. Most organizations deploy it into their networks and operate it for security monitoring and response service. However, IDS has a fatal problem in that it raises a large number of alerts and most of them are false positives. In order to cope with this problem, many approaches have been proposed for the purpose of automatically identifying whether the IDS alerts are caused by real attacks or not. In this paper, we present an alert verification method based on correlation analysis between vulnerability inspection results for real systems that should be protected and the IDS alerts. In addition, we carry out practical experiments to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed verification method using two types of real data, i.e., the IDS alerts and the vulnerability inspection results.

  • The Null Pointer Dereference vulnerability is a significant vulnerability that can cause severe attacks such as denial-of-service. Previous research has proposed methods for detecting vulnerabilities, but large and complex programs pose a challenge to their efficiency. In this paper, we present a lightweight tool for detecting specific functions in large binaryprograms through symbolizing variables and emulating program execution. The tool detects vulnerabilities through data dependency analysis and heuristics in each execution path. While our tool had an 8% higher false positive rate than the bap_toolkit, it detected all existing vulnerabilities in our dataset.

  • With the advancement of SIEM from ESM, it allows deep correlated analysis using huge amount of data. By collecting software's vulnerabilities from assessment with certain classification measures (e.g., CWE), it can improve detection rate effectively, and respond to software's vulnerabilities by analyzing big data. In the phase of monitoring and vulnerability diagnosis Process, it not only detects predefined threats, but also vulnerabilities of software in each resources could promptly be applied by sharing CCE, CPE, CVE and CVSS information. This abstract proposes a model for effective detection and response of software vulnerabilities and describes effective outcomes of the model application.

  • Traditional methods of detecting security vulnerabilities in source-code require a lot of time and effort. If there is good data, the issue could be solved by using the data with machine learning. Thus, this paper proposes a source-code vulnerability detection method based on machine learning. Our method employs the code2vec model that has been used to propose the names of methods, and uses as a data set, Juliet Test Suite that is a collection of common security vulnerabilities. The evaluation shows that our method has high precision of 97.3% and recall rates of 98.6%. And the result of detecting vulnerabilities in open source project shows hopeful potential. In addition, it is expected that further progress can be made through studies covering with vulnerabilities and languages not addressed here.

  • Recently, the use of wireless fan is increased by the development of wireless communication and convenience. Moreover, it makes an issue of security threat and vulnerability of wireless tan. Therefore, the IEEE established new standard such as 802.11i in 802.11 to supplement security vulnerability of wireless tan. But the security threat that does not solve, still remains. In this paper, we proposed that the location detection algorithm, that is used Kalman-Filter, Lateration and RSSI, and the mechanism that detects security status of AP and unauthorized AP by using beacon-frame of AP in building. Finally, we confirmed performance of proposed algorithm is good in comparison of established algorithm.
