  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the production and marketing control effects of aqua-cultured flounder required for stable income growth of aqua-cultured household. We analyzed the supply and demand structure of cultured flounder using the partial equilibrium model approach. And we estimated the optimal yield of cultured flounder and analyzed the effect of marketing control through constructed model. The main results of this study are summarized as follows. First, the fitness and predictive power of the estimated model showed that the RMSPE and MAPE values were less than 5% and Theil's inequality coefficient was very close to 0 rather than 1. It was evaluated that the prediction ability of the aqua-cultured flounder supply and demand model by dynamic simulation was excellent. Second, dynamic simulation based on policy simulation was conducted to analyze the price increase effect of production and shipment control of cultured flounder. As a result, if the annual production volume is reduced by 1%, 5%, and 10% among 32,852~37,520 tons, it is analyzed that the price increase effect is from 1.2% to 12.5%. Finally, this study suggests that the production and marketing control can increase the price of aqua-cultured flounder in the market. In this paper, we propose a policy implementation of the total supply system instead of conclusions.

  • As a result of broth substitutions when each culture-mediums were difference, whole culture-medium was found to be best feeding solution for production of PS-7 by B. indica. Maximal production of PS-7 was 1$10.0\;g/{\ell}$ and its conversion rate from 2% (w/v) glucose to PS-7 was 50%. After 48 hr, 50%(v/v) medium of working volume began to substitute in 7L jar fermenter. Production of PS-7 increased after 48hr, recovered productivity of PS-7. Following this preliminary culture, the resultant culture was subjected to continuous flow conditions controlled that the dilution rate were $0.01\;{\sim}\;0.04\;h^{-1}$. Production of PS-7 increased at dilution rate $0.0100\;h^{-1}$ whereas productivity of PS-7 decreased gradually in dilution rate $0.0200\;{\sim}\;0.0400\;h^{-1}$. Maximal production of PS-7 was $10.0\;g/{\ell}$ in continuous culture.

  • The effects of the agitation and aeration rates on the production of serratiopeptidase (SRP) in a 5-L fermentor (working volume 2-l) were systematically investigated using Serratia marcescens NRRL B-23112. The dissolved oxygen concentration, pH, biomass, SRP yield, and maltose utilization were all continuously measured during the course of the fermentation runs. The efficiencies of the aeration and agitation were evaluated based on the volumetric mass transfer coefficient ($K_La$). The maximum SRP production of 11,580 EU/ml with a specific SRP productivity of 78.8 EU/g/h was obtained with an agitation of 400 rpm and aeration of 0.075 vvm, which was 58% higher than the shake-flask level. The $K_La$ for the fermentation system supporting the maximum production (400 rpm, 0.075 vvm) was 11.3 $h^{-1}$. Under these fermentor optimized conditions, kinetic modeling was performed to understand the detailed course of the fermentation process. The resulting logistic and Luedeking-Piret models provided an effective description of the SRP fermentation, where the correlation coefficients for cell growth, SRP formation, and substrate consumption were 0.99, 0.94, and 0.84, respectively, revealing a good agreement between the model-predicted and experimental results. The kinetic analysis of the batch fermentation process for the production of SRP demonstrated the SRP production to be mixed growth associated.

  • Hydrogen is considered as an energy source for the future due to its environmentally friendly use in fuel cells. A promising way is the biological production of hydrogen by fermentation. In this study, the optimization of medium conditions which maximize hydrogen production from Enterobacter aerogenes KCCM 40146 were determined. As a result, the maximum attainable cumulative volume of hydrogen was 431 $m{\ell}$ under the conditions of 0.5M potassium phosphate buffer, pH 6.5 medium containing 30 g/L glucose. The best nitrogen sources were peptone and tryptone for the cell growth as well as hydrogen production. The control of cell growth rate was found to be a important experimental parameter for effective hydrogen production

  • The sheet parts are formed with dies conventionally. But this conventional forming process is not suited to small volume and varied production for the reason of high cost. For the solution of this problem, a new forming process, which is called CNC incremental sheet forming, is being introduced. This process can form sheet parts without die, and is very well suited to small volume and varied production in space flight and automobile. In this paper, dieless CNC forming system based on a machining center is developed. A special device to grasp and pull the blank sheet built in the machining center and tool path generation S/W from STL file of 3-D model are developed. Several sheet parts are incrementally formed to verify the effectiveness of the developed system.

  • PURPOSES : This study deals with the traffic accidents classified by the traffic analysis zone. The purpose is to develop the accident density models by using zonal traffic and socioeconomic data. METHODS : The traffic accident density models are developed through multiple linear regression analysis. In this study, three multiple linear models were developed. The dependent variable was traffic accident density, which is a measure of the relative distribution of traffic accidents. The independent variables were various traffic and socioeconomic variables. CONCLUSIONS : Three traffic accident density models were developed, and all models were statistically significant. Road length, trip production volume, intersections, van ratio, and number of vehicles per person in the transportation-based model were analyzed to be positive to the accident. Residential and commercial area ratio and transportation vulnerability ratio obtained using the socioeconomic-based model were found to affect the accident. The major arterial road ratio, trip production volume, intersection, van ratio, commercial ratio, and number of companies in the integrated model were also found to be related to the accident.

  • The study deals with the effects of parameters in the synthesis of carbon nanotubes in liquid nitrogen to find the most appropriate conditions such as electrical voltage and time that give carbon nanotubes with large volume and less proportion of impurity, which is a non-nanotubed carbon. The experiment employed the method of arc-discharge between graphite cathode and anode which are immersed in liquid nitrogen. The electrical DC current of 60A and 70A were applied with the time period ranging from 10 seconds to 25 seconds. It was found that the electrical current of 60A and 13 seconds arc-discharge time allowed the largest volume of carbon nanotubes generation. The longer time leads to more impurities around the carbon nanotubes. By the filtration of CNTs-suspended solution using 0.2 micrometers porous paper filter and the characterization using TEM, the carbon nanotubes synthesized in the study were approximately 25 layers multi-walled nanotubes with the average diameter of 18.2 nanometers.

  • Squeeze casting was performed to fabricate the SiC whisker reinforced magnesium matrix composites, and the suitability of the squeeze casting for the production of the sound composites was determined by micro/macro-structures observations and tensile test. The two-directional infiltration of the melt and the removal of air during infiltration using the devised mold were necessary to produce the composites. The pressure of 100 MPa was effective for the production of composites with the SiC whisker volume fraction of 30%, but the pressure should be lower than 50 MPa in case of below 20% in the volume fraction. The SiC whiskers in the squeeze cast composites were randomly and densely aligned, and the SiC whiskers/magnesium interfaces were continuously well-bonded. The elastic modulus, 0.2% proof stress and tensile strength in the composite were about 2.5times, l0times and 4times as large as those of magnesium, respectively, indicating that the squeeze casting sufficiently provides the high strength magnesium composites reinforced with SiC whiskers.

  • Supercritical fluid has excellent dissolving power for various materials based on low viscosity and high diffusion coefficient and is used as solvents in various chemical processes. However, its industrial application can be very tricky because the design, especially the size of the supercritical apparatus, should be carefully chosen to optimize the cost and the production of supercritical fluidic state. And the first step of the supercritical fluid apparatus design is to choose the appropriate size of the reactor vessel to produce supercritical fluid above its critical pressure and temperature. Therefore, this study aims to analyze thermodynamic behaviors of dichloromethane based on ideal gas, van der Waals, Redlich-Kwong, Soave-Redlich-Kwong, and Peng-Robinson equations of state. The correlation between the volume and pressure of dichloromethane at 200℃ was revealed and it can be used to design the optimized size of the supercritical apparatus for industrial production.

  • Choroid plexus hyperplasia (CPH), also known as diffuse villous hyperplasia of choroid plexus, is a rare condition characterized by excessive production of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), resulting in hydrocephalus. Diagnosing CPH can be challenging due to the absence of clear imaging criteria for choroid plexus hypertrophy and the inability to assess CSF production non-invasively. As a result, many CPH patients are initially treated with a ventriculoperitoneal (VP) shunt, but subsequently require additional surgical intervention due to intractable ascites. In our study, we encountered two CPH patients who presented with significantly enlarged subarachnoid spaces, reduced parenchymal volume, and prominent choroid plexus. Initially, we treated these patients with a VP shunt, but eventually opted for endoscopic choroid plexus cauterization (CPC) to address the intractable ascites. Following the treatment with endoscopic CPC, we observed a gradual reduction in subarachnoid spaces and an increase in parenchymal volume. In cases where bilateral prominent choroid plexus, markedly enlarged subarachnoid spaces, and cortical atrophy are present, CPH should be suspected. In these cases, considering initial treatment with combined endoscopic CPC and shunt may help minimize the need for multiple surgical interventions.
