GaAs MESFET의 소오스 및 부하 임피던스가 선형성에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Source and Load Impedance on the Linearity of GaAs MESFET)

  • 본 연구에서는 GaAs MESFET의 게이트-소오스 캐패시턴스($C_{gs}$)와 드레인-소오스 전류($I_{ds}$)의 비션형성에 의한 이득감소(Gain Compression) 및 위상왜곡(Phase Distortion)특성을 알아보고, 이를 최소화 할 수 있 는 소오스 및 부하 임피던스의 조건에 대해 조사하였다. 먼저 Volterra - Series 분석을 통하여, $C_{gs}(V_{gs})$$I_{ds}(V_{gs})$의 비선형특성을 조사하고, 각각의 비선형성분이 상호 소멸되는 소오스 및 부하 임피던스의 조건에서, 전체소자의 비선형성이 최소화 됨을 얄아보았다. 그리고 소오스 및 부하측정(Source, Load Pull)을 통하여 출 력전력값에 따라 최적의 선형성이 나오는 입출력 임피던스값을 찾고, Volterra-Series에서 구한 이론적인 결과와 비교 및 분석을 행하였다.

Analysis of Orthotropic Bearing Non-linearity Using Non-linear FRFs

  • Among other critical conditions in rotor systems the large non-linear vibration excited by bearing non-linearity causes the rotor failure. For reducing this catastrophic failure and predictive detection of this phenomenon the analysis of orthotropic bearing non-linearity in rotor system using higher order frequency response functions (HFRFs) is conducted and is shown to be theoretically feasible as that of non-rotating structures. The complex HFRFs based on the Volterra series are newly developed for the process and investigated their features by using the simple forms of the FRFs associated with the forward and the backward modes.

  • In this article, a homotopy perturbation transform method (HPTM) and the Laplace transform combined with Taylor expansion method are presented for solving Volterra integral equations with a convolution kernel. The (HPTM) is innovative in Laplace transform algorithm and makes the calculation much simpler while in the Laplace transform and Taylor expansion method we first convert the integral equation to an algebraic equation using Laplace transform then we find its numerical inversion by power series. The numerical solution obtained by the proposed methods indicate that the approaches are easy computationally and its implementation very attractive. The methods are described and numerical examples are given to illustrate its accuracy and stability.

Reduced-State MLSD Based on Volterra Kernels for Square-Law Detected Multipath Channels

  • We propose a novel reduced-state maximum-likelihood sequence detection (MLSD) structure using the Viterbi algorithm based on the second-order Volterra kernel modeling nonlinear distortion due to square law detection of multipath channels commonly occurring in chromatic dispersion (CD) or polarization mode dispersion (PMD) in optical communication systems. While all existing MLSD methods for square-law detection receivers are based on direct computation of branch metrics, the proposed algorithm provides an efficient and structured way to implement reduced-state MLSD with almost the same complexity of a MLSD for linear channels. As a result, the proposed algorithm reduces the number of parameters to be estimated and the complexity of computation.

  • 비선형 함수로 모델링되는 동적 시스템의 비선형 파라미터를 결정하기 위하여 주파수 영역 볼테라 모델을 적용하는 연구를 수행하였다. 시간영역의 1차, 2차, 3차 전달함수에 해당하는 주파수 영역의 볼테라 핵함수를 비선형 파라미터 산정 과정에 3차 비선형 항까지 포함시켰다. Schetzen의 방법으로 시스템의 비선형 미분방정식에 적합한 볼테라 급수 표현식을 정하고, 이로부터 유도되는 비선형 전달함수를 입력 출력 관계식에 사용하였다. 관찰된 입력을 비선형 주파수 영역 모델에 대입하여 계산한 출력과 관찰된 출력의 차이로 오차를 정의한 후 오차를 최소화 시키는 시스템 파라미터의 값을 구하였다. 예제를 통하여 선형 주파수 구간 뿐만 아니라 2차 혹은 3차 비선형이 지배적인 주파수 범위 대에서 볼테라 모델이 충분한 정확성과 수렴성을 가지며 인식된 파라미터는 실제 값과 잘 일치함을 확인할 수 있었다.

Modeling and assessment of VWNN for signal processing of structural systems

  • This study aimed to develop a model to accurately predict the acceleration of structural systems during an earthquake. The acceleration and applied force of a structure were measured at current time step and the velocity and displacement were estimated through linear integration. These data were used as input to predict the structural acceleration at next time step. The computation tool used was the Volterra/Wiener neural network (VWNN) which contained the mathematical model to predict the acceleration. For alleviating problems of relatively large-dimensional and nonlinear systems, the VWNN model was utilized as the signal processing tool, including the Taylor series components in the input nodes of the neural network. The number of the intermediate layer nodes in the neural network model, containing the training and simulation stage, was evaluated and optimized. Discussions on the influences of the gradient descent with adaptive learning rate algorithm and the Levenberg-Marquardt algorithm, both for determining the network weights, on prediction errors were provided. During the simulation stage, different earthquake excitations were tested with the optimized settings acquired from the training stage to find out which of the algorithms would result in the smallest error, to determine a proper simulation model.

  • 디지털 위성 통신 채널은 중계 위성 내에서 사용되는 고출력 증폭기인 traveling wave tube의 비선형 포화 특성과 송신단/수신단 선형 필터들의 영향으로 메모리를 갖는 비선형 특성을 나타낸다. 본 논문에서는 여러 입력 변수들에 대한 효율적인 형태의 다항식을 사용하므로써 빠른 수려, 적은 계산량 등과 같은 장점을 갖는 고차(higher-order) 신경회로망인 pi-sigma network을 복소수 영역으로 확장한 complex pi-sigma network (CPSN)을 제안하고, 이를 이용하여 디지털 위성 통신 채널의 비선형을 보상하는 등화기를 설계하였다. 제안된 CPSN은 Volterra 급수로 모델링된 비선형 채널과 잡음에 의해 왜곡된 QPSK 복소 입력 심벌들에 대한 동화에 이용되었으며, 컴퓨터 모의실험 결과 우수한 등화 성능 및 기존의 Volterra 필터와 같은 고차 모델에 비교해 매우 빠른 수렴 특성 및 적은 계산량을 가짐을 확인하였다.

비선형 진동절연 시스템의 근사적 응답을 구하는 방법 (Methods to Obtain Approximate Responses of a Non-Linear Vibration Isolation System)

  • A non-linear vibration isolation system composed of a non-linear spring and a linear damper was presented in a previous study. The advantage of the proposed isolator is the simple structure of the system. When the base of the isolator is harmonically excited, the response component of the mass at the excitation frequency was approximated using three different methods: linear approximation, harmonic balance, and higher-order frequency response functions (FRFs). The method using higher-order FRFs produces significantly more accurate results compared with the other methods. The error between the exact and approximate responses does not increase monotonously with the excitation amplitude and is less than 2%.

  • Major ports in Northeastern Asia engage in fierce competition to attract transshipment traffic volume. Existing time series analyses for analyzing port competition relationships examine the types of competition and relations through the signs of coefficients in cointegration equations using the transshipment traffic volume results. However, there are cases for which analyzing competing relationships is not possible based on the results of the transshipment traffic volume data differences and limitations in the forecasting of traffic volume. Accordingly, we used the Lotka-Volterra (L-V) model,also known as the ecosystem competitive relation model, to analyze port competition relations for the long-term forecast of South Korean transshipment traffic volume.

  • Among other critical conditions in rotor svstems the large non-linearvibration excited by bearing non-linearity causes the rotor failure. For reducing thiscatastrophic failure and predictive analysis of this phenomena the identificationanalysis of bearing non-linearity in an anisotropic rotor system using the higherorder dFRFs are developed and are shown to be theoretically feasible as innon-rotating structures. For the identification of the anisotropic rotor withanisotropic bearing non-linearity expressed by the displacement in polynomial form,the higher order dFRFs based upon the Volterra series are investigated and depicttheir features by using the simple forms of the normal and reverse dFRFs. Theyproduce additional sub-harmonic resonant peaks, which indicate the existence ofhigher order non-linearties, and show the energy transfer such that the modes fornormal and reuerse dFRFs are exchanged, which are the fundamental differencesfrom what we can expect in linear ones.
