A Three Phase Three-level PWM Switched Voltage Source Inverter with Zero Neutral Point Potential

  • A new three phase three-level Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) Switched Voltage Source (SVS) inverter with zero neutral point potential is proposed. It consists of three single-phase inverter modules. Each module is composed of a switched voltage source and inverter switches. The major advantage is that the peak value of the phase output voltage is twice as high as that of a conventional neutral-point-clamped (NPC) PWM inverter. Thus, the proposed inverter is suitable for applications with low voltage sources such as batteries, fuel cells, or solar cells. Furthermore, three-level waveforms of the proposed inverter can be achieved without the switch voltage imbalance problem. Since the average neutral point potential of the proposed inverter is zero, a common ground between the input stage and the output stage is possible. Therefore, it can be applied to a transformer-less Power Conditioning System (PCS). The proposed inverter is verified by a PSpice simulation and experimental results based on a laboratory prototype.

  • In this paper, we composed solar generation system with multi-phase interleaved boost converter Solar generated voltage is low, so it has need of the boost power conversion device for supply power to normal load. The multi-phase interleaved boost converter is easy to boost voltage and it can be reduced both input current ripple and output voltage ripple because it is composed with multi-phase. We simulated and tested multi-phase interleaved boost converter applied three-phase.

  • 기존의 전자레인지의 마그네트론 구동용 전원장치는 성층 철심을 사용한 60[Hz]고압 변압기, 큰 용량의 콘덴서와 싸이리스터를 이용한 위상제어 회로를 사용하기 때문에 부피가 크고 무거우며, 저효율의 단점을 가지고 있다. 본 논문은 출력 600[W]마그네트론을 장착한 전자레인지의 전원장치로 최대출력1[kW], 스위칭 주파수20[kHz]의 Phase-shifted Full-Bridge(FB)Zero-Voltage-Switched(ZVS) PWM 컨버터의 사용을 제안하고, 이를 개발.적용하여 전체 시스템의 경량화 및 고전력밀도의 목적을 달성하였다.

  • Hydro power supplies no pollution energy, mainly induction generator has been applied at the small capacity power station. The generating power of small hydro-electric power station connects on the 22.9kV distribution system or low voltage system in the case of three-phase four-wire supply system. There are side effects of various kinds in the 3-three phase 4-wire distribution system mixing 1-phase load and 3-phase load. This system generates the voltage unbalance by unbalanced load operating condition. They have various serious effects on generator and connection system. In this paper, we analyzed what kind of operation characteristic are happened in the induction generator by customer load variation at the 3-three phase 4-wire distribution system.

  • Most of LV customer has been composed the 3-phase four wire system distribution system which is supplying simultaneously at the 1-phase & 3-phase load. In this system, the composition of the power apparatus system is simple rather than conventional separation mode of the 1-phase & 3-phase, But due to uneven load unbalance or unclean power quality, various kinds such as derating or power losses become an issue. In this paper, we measured and analyzed voltage and current waveform in the field, compared with internationally allowable voltage unbalance limits.

  • This paper presents a single-phase five-level inverter controlled by two novel pulse width modulation (PWM) switching techniques. The proposed PWM techniques are designed based on minimum switching power loss and minimum total harmonic distortion (THD). In a single-phase five-level inverter employing six switches, the first proposed PWM technique requires four switches to operate at switching frequency and two other switches to operate at line frequency. The second proposed PWM technique requires only two switches to operate at switching frequency and the rest of the switches to operate at line frequency. Compared with conventional PWM techniques for single-phase five-level inverters, the proposed PWM techniques offer high efficiency and low harmonic components in the output voltage. The validity of the proposed PWM switching techniques in controlling single-phase five-level inverters to regulate load voltage is verified experimentally using a 100 V, 500 W laboratory prototype controlled by dspace 1103.

  • Most of the loads in industrial power distribution systems are balanced and connected to three power systems. However, in the user power distribution systems, most of the loads are single & three phase and unbalanced, generating voltage unbalance. This paper presents a scheme on operation states of a three-phase induction motor under unbalanced voltages. The three-phase voltages applied to the stator winding of the studied induction motor are controlled by respectively adjusting the magnitude and phase angle of each phase. The voltage unbalanced factor(VUF) of the three-phase source voltages can then be varied to examine the different values of VUF on machine's operation characteristics.

  • 3 phase 4-wire system has been widely used in the customer's application due to merit of 1 bank construction of loads such as 1-phase lighting, heat and 3-phase motor. But if the load distribution is not uniformed by the operation conditions, voltage unbalance is highly appeared by the difference of each phase current value. Especially, if the linear load such as resistance or inductive load has different power factor value, voltage unbalance factor is not the same due to the phase angle and magnitude of each phase voltage. In this paper, we composed the measurement device and analyzed by varying of load pattern.

  • This paper describes a power quality disturbance generator for the test of a microgrid. The generator provides phase-angle jump as well as voltage sag with simple structure. The main components of the generator are SCR thyristors and transformers, therefore, high reliability and high efficiency can be obtained without switching losses. The operating principle of the proposed scheme is described and the voltage and current characteristics in case of voltage sag with phase-angle jump is analyzed. The usefulness of the proposed topology is verified through simulations and experimental results.
