  • The electro-optical characteristics of the Liquid Crystal on Silicon (hereinafter "LCOS") micro-display on vertically alignment (VA) mode were studied with 3-dimensional LC code. 5 different cell gaps, such as 1.4 ${\mu}m$, 1.8 ${\mu}m$, 2.1 ${\mu}m$, 2.4 ${\mu}m$ and 2.8 ${\mu}m$, were selected. The reflectance-voltage (R-V) characteristics, distribution of reflected light, reflectance, optical fill factor and contrast ratio were calculated and investigated depending on various cell gaps. Due to the surface anchoring effect, higher cell gap showed higher reflectance. However, considering the optical fill factor and contrast ratio, middle-height 2.1 ${\mu}m$ showed the best electro-optical characteristic. 0.7 inch Full-HD LCOS panels having same geometry and material property were fabricated. The reflected light intensity and contrast ratio were measured and the measured results were well-matched to the calculated results.

  • In Recent years, there has been a noticeable increase in the global incidence of breast cancer, with approximately 2.3 million cases of female breast cancer reported worldwide in 2020. Numerous studies are currently underway to enhance the accuracy of breast cancer diagnosis through the development of digital mammography detectors. This study aims to create Monte Carlo simulation-based mammographic anti-scatter grids and investigate their utility in evaluating the performance of digital mammography detector. Two types of mammographic anti-scatter grids, MAM-CP and Senographe 600T HF, were created using Monte Carlo simulation software (MCNPX 2.7.0), with grid ratios of 3.7 : 1 and 5 : 1, respectively. The grid physical characteristics (sensitivity, exposure factor, contrast improvement ratio) were calculated based on the KS C IEC60627 in the simulations using two X-ray qualities, RQA-M2 (28 kVp) and MW4 (35 kVp). As the X-ray tube voltage increased from 28 kVp to 35 kVp, sensitivity and exposure factor exhibited a decreasing trend, while contrast improvement ratio demonstrated an increasing trend. With an increase in grid ratio from 3.7 : 1 to 5 : 1, all physical characteristics showed an upward trend. Our results were consistent with a previous study that conducted measurements of physical properties using a real phantom. However, the pattern of change in the contrast improvement ratio with X-ray tube voltage differed from the previous study.

  • Experiments and simulation were done to study the impact of contrast agent when CT scan was used to attenuation correction for PET Images in PET/CT system. Whole body phantom was imaged with various concentration of iodine-based contrast agent using CT. Mathematical emission and transmission density map with liver were made to simulate for whole body FDG Imaging. A variety of factors were estimated, including non-uniform enhancement of contrast agent, concentration and distribution size of contrast agent, noise level, image resolution, reconstruction algorithm, hypo-attenuation of contrast agent, and different time phases for contrast agent. Experimental studies showed that Hounsfield unit depends on the concentration of contrast agent and tube voltage. From the simulation data, contrast agents Introduced artifacts and degraded image quality on the attenuation-corrected PET images. The severity of these effects depends on a variety of factors, including the concentration and distribution size of contrast agent, the noise levels, and the Image resolution. These results Indicated that the impact of contrast agents should be considered with a full understanding of their potential problems in clinical PET/CT images.

  • Saturation mutagenesis was performed on a single position in the voltage-sensing domain (VSD) of a genetically encoded voltage indicator (GEVI). The VSD consists of four transmembrane helixes designated S1-S4. The V220 position located near the plasma membrane/extracellular interface had previously been shown to affect the voltage range of the optical signal. Introduction of polar amino acids at this position reduced the voltage-dependent optical signal of the GEVI. Negatively charged amino acids slightly reduced the optical signal by 33 percent while positively charge amino acids at this position reduced the optical signal by 80%. Surprisingly, the range of V220D was similar to that of V220K with shifted optical responses towards negative potentials. In contrast, the V220E mutant mirrored the responses of the V220R mutation suggesting that the length of the side chain plays in role in determining the voltage range of the GEVI. Charged mutations at the 219 position all behaved similarly slightly shifting the optical response to more negative potentials. Charged mutations to the 221 position behaved erratically suggesting interactions with the plasma membrane and/or other amino acids in the VSD. Introduction of bulky amino acids at the V220 position increased the range of the optical response to include hyperpolarizing signals. Combining The V220W mutant with the R217Q mutation resulted in a probe that reduced the depolarizing signal and enhanced the hyperpolarizing signal which may lead to GEVIs that only report neuronal inhibition.

  • Since there are multiple random variables in the probabilistic load flow (PLF) calculation of distribution system containing distributed generation (DG) and electric vehicle charging load (EVCL), a Monte Carlo method based on composite sampling method is put forward according to the existing simple random sampling Monte Carlo simulation method (SRS-MCSM) to perform probabilistic assessment analysis of voltage quality of distribution system containing DG and EVCL. This method considers not only the randomness of wind speed and light intensity as well as the uncertainty of basic load and EVCL, but also other stochastic disturbances, such as the failure rate of the transmission line. According to the different characteristics of random factors, different sampling methods are applied. Simulation results on IEEE9 bus system and IEEE34 bus system demonstrates the validity, accuracy, rapidity and practicability of the proposed method. In contrast to the SRS-MCSM, the proposed method is of higher computational efficiency and better simulation accuracy. The variation of nodal voltages for distribution system before and after connecting DG and EVCL is compared and analyzed, especially the voltage fluctuation of the grid-connected point of DG and EVCL.

  • We studied p-type capacitance characteristics of ZnO thin-film transistors (TFT's), grown by metal organic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD). We compared two ZnO TFT's: one grown at $450^{\circ}C$ and the other grown at $350^{\circ}C$. ZnO grown at $450^{\circ}C$ showed smooth capacitance profile with electron density of $1.5{\times}10^{20}cm^{-3}$. In contrast, ZnO grown at $350^{\circ}C$ showed a capacitance jump when gate voltage was changed to negative voltages. Current-voltage characteristics measured in the two samples did not show much difference. We explain that the capacitance jump is related to p-type ZnO layer formed at the $SiO_2$ interface. Current-voltage and capacitance-voltage data support that p-type characteristics are observed only when background electron density is very low.

  • In this paper, we propose a newly developed selective reset waveform of a ac PDP using the wide erase pulse technique with the control of address bias voltage. Although it is generally understood that the wide pulse erasing methode shows the narrow driving margin in an opposite discharge type ac PDP, we could obtain a moderate driving margin in a 3-electrode surface discharge type ac PDP. The obtained driving margin shows a strong dependency on the sustain voltage and the address bias voltage. The lower the sustain and the address bias voltage, the wider the driving margin. The pulse width of the proposed waveform is only $10{\mu}s$, which gives additional time to the sustain period, hence increases the brightness. The brightness and contrast ratio increase about 20% together comparing to the conventional ramp type selective reset waveform with the driving scheme of 10 subfield ADS method. The driving margin was measured with the line by line addressed pattern on the white test panel of 2inch diagonal size and the discharge gas was Ne+Xe4%, 400torr.

  • How to measure the creepage distance of an insulator quickly and accurately is a problem for the power industry at present, and the noticeable concern is that the high voltage insulation equipment cannot be measured online in the charged state. In view of this situation, we develop an on-line measurement system of creepage distance for high voltage insulators based on binocular stereo vision. We have proposed a method of generating linear structured light using a conical off-axis mirror. The feasibility and effect of two ways to solve the interference problem of strong sunlight have been discussed, one way is to use bandpass filters to enhance the contrast ratio of linear structured light in the images, and the other way is to process the images with adaptive threshold segmentation and feature point extraction. After the system is calibrated, we tested the measurement error of the on-line measurement system with a composite insulator sample. Experimental results show that the maximum relative error is 1.45% and the average relative error is 0.69%, which satisfies the task requirement of not more than 5% of the maximum relative error.

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of X-ray photon energy, tissue density, and the kernel essential for image reconstruction on the image quality by measuring HU and noise. Images were obtained by scanning the RMI density phantom within the CT device, and HU and noise were measured as follows: images were obtained by varying the tube voltages, the tube currents and eight different kernels. The greater the voltage-dependent change in the HU value but the noise was decreased. At all densities, changes in the tube current did not exert any significant influence on the HU value, whereas the noise value gradually decreased as the tube current increased. At all densities, changes in the kernel did not exert any significant influence on the HU value. The noise value gradually increased in the lower kernel range, but rapidly increased in the higher kernel range. HU is influenced by voltage and density, and noise is influenced by voltage, current, kernel, and density. This affects contrast resolution and spatial resolution.

  • In this paper, a new gray scale expression method that divides the scan lines into multiple blocks is suggested. The proposed method can drive 16 sub-fields per 1 TV field in the panel with XGA ($1366{\times}768$) resolution. The on and off states of even subfields depend on the condition of odd subfields. The write address mode is used in the odd subfields, while the erase address mode is used in the even subfields. Because the ramp reset pulse is applied every 2 sub-fields, both the contrast ratio and the dynamic voltage margin are sufficiently obtained in comparison with previous AWD (Address While Display) methods. In realizing 16 subfields, shortening the scan time in the erase address period was important. The X bias voltage in the erase address period affected the minimum address voltage but did not the delay time of the address discharge. The delay time of the address discharge was affected by the address voltage and the time interval between the last sustain discharge and the scanning time. We also evaluated the dynamic false contour. New method shows an improved image quality in horizontal moving, but discontinuous lines were observed at the boundaries of each block in vertical moving
