The purpose of this study was to measure and evaluate radiation dose for MDCT parameters. Patient dose for various combination of MDCT parameters were experimentally measured, using MDCT (GE light speed plus 4 slice, USA), model 2026C electrometer (RADICAL 2026C, USA), standard Polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) head and body CT dosimetry phantoms. In clinical situations, for a typical abdominal scan performed with MDCT at 120 kVp, 180 mAs, 20 mm collimation, and a pitch of 0.75 $CTDI_w,\;CTDI_{vol}$ were measured as 20.2 mGy, 26.9 mGy, respectively. When scan length is assumed as 271.3 mm, DLP and measured effective dose of the abdominal would be calculated as $729.1\;mGy{\cdot}cm$, 10.9 mSv, respectively.

In this paper, a time-domain comparator is proposed for a successive approximation (SA) analog-to-digital converter (ADC) with a low power and high resolution. The proposed time-domain comparator consists of a voltage-controlled delay converter with a clock feed-through compensation circuit, a time amplifier, and binary phase detector. It has a small input capacitance and compensates the clock feed-through noise. To analyze the performance of the proposed time-domain comparator, two 1V 10-bit 200-kS/s SA ADCs with a different time-domain comparator are implemented by using 0.18-${\mu}m$ 1-poly 6-metal CMOS process. The measured SNDR of the implemented SA ADC is 56.27 dB for the analog input signal of 11.1 kHz, and the clock feed-through compensation circuit and time amplifier of the proposed time-domain comparator enhance the SNDR of about 6 dB. The power consumption and area of the implemented SA ADC are 10.39 ${\mu}W$ and 0.126 mm2, respectively.
Current digital radiographic systems are rapidly growing in clinical applications. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the diagnostic performance of computed radiography (CR) and digital radiography (DR) at different tube voltages in the detection of simulated chest lesions. Patterns of simulated interstitial lung disease, incipient infiltration, and nodules were superimposed over an anthropomorphic chest phantom. A simulated chest phantom radiograph was obtained with CR and DR at different tube voltages (70 kV, 90 kV, and 120 kV). A total of 18,000 observations were analyzed using a receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analysis. The detection of all lesions showed higher $A_z$ values at 70 kV than 120 kV with CR. For the DR, mean $A_z$ values at 70 kV were higher than other tube voltages not all lesions but for micro-nodule interstitial lung disease, linear interstitial lung disease, and incipient infiltration. Based on these results, a clinical study should be performed to judge the use of suitable tube voltage according to the type of detector system and lesions.
The final goal of ITS and ETC will be to improve the traffic efficiency and mobile safety without new road construction. DSRC system is emerging nowadays as a solution of them. China DSRC standard which was released in May 2007 has low bit rate, short message and simple MAC control. The DSRC system users want a long lifetime over 1 year with just one battery. In this paper, we propose the SoC of very low power consumption architecture. Several digital logic concept and analog power control logics were used for very low power consumption. The SoC operation mode and clock speed, operation voltage range, wakeup signal detector, analog comparator and Internal Voltage Regulator & External Power Switch were designed. We confirmed that the SoC power consumption is under 8.5mA@20Mhz, 0.9mA@1Mhz in active mode, and under 5uA in power down mode, by computer simulation. The design of SoC was finished on Aug. 2008, and fabricated on Nov. 2008 with $0.18{\mu}m$ CMOS process.
In this study, the liquid-crystal optical modulation X-ray detection system using a CdS which is a family of II-IV compound semiconductor was proposed. The system consist of the detector, the signal processing part, the liquid-crystal driving parts, microcontroller, and I/O parts, and was designed to be suitable for miniaturization and portable. In addition, the system can measure a wide range X-ray by using the detecting range selection. In order to evaluate the performance of the proposed system, the CdS sensor's output characteristics were confirmed in accordance with changes of dose, and excellent correlation was determined. And also, the optical penetration ratio was discussed in accordance with changes of the applied voltage by measuring the change of the liquid-crystal in accordance with changes of the applied voltage. Through these results, the characteristics of the liquid-crystal optical modulation system such as the excellent reproducibility and the noise immunity were confirmed. And we considered that the CdS cell-based liquid-crystal optical modulated portable X-ray detection system could be applied to compact, low-cost, portable system.
We measured the absorbed dose and the area dose using an ionization chamber type of area dose product (DAP) meter and measured the calibration factor in the X-ray examination. In the indirect dose measurement method, the detector was installed in the radiation part of the X-ray equipment, and the measured value was calculated as the dose at the exposure part. The instrument used to calculate the calibration factor was an X-ray equipment (DK-550R / F, DongKang Medical Co., Ltd., Seoul, Korea). The calibration method for the calibration factor was to connect the DAP meter (PD-8100, Toreck Co. Ltd., Japan) to the calibration dosimeter tube voltage of 70 kV, tube current of 500 mA, 0.158 sec. The reference dosimeter used a semiconductor (DOSIMAX plus A, Scanditronix, $Wellh{\ddot{o}}fer$, Germany). After installing the DAP meter on the front of the multi-collimator of the ionization chamber, the calibration factor of the dosimeter was obtained using the reference dosimeter for accurate dose measurement. Experimental exposure values and values from the calibration dosimeter were calculated by multiplying each calibration factor. The calibration factor was calculated as 1.045. In order to calculate the calibration coefficient according to the tube voltage in the ionization type DAP dosimeter, the absorbed dose and the area dose were calculated and the calibration factor was calculated. The corrective area dose was calculated by calculating the calibration factor of the DAP meter.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of various technical parameters for the dose optimization in pediatric chest radiological examinations by evaluating effective dose and effective detective quantum efficiency (eDQE) including the scatter radiation from the object, the blur caused by the focal spot, geometric magnification and detector characteristics. For the tube voltages ranging from 40 to 90 kVp in 10 kVp increments at the FDD of 100, 110, 120, 150, 180 cm, the eDQE was evaluated at the same effective dose. The results showed that the eDQE was largest at 60 kVp when compares the eDQE at different tube voltage. Especially, the eDQE was considerably higher without the use of an anti-scatter grid on equivalent effective dose. This indicates that the reducing the scatter radiation did not compensate for the loss of absorbed effective photons in the grid. When the grid is not used the eDQE increased with increasing FDD because of the greater effective modulation transfer function (eMTF). However, most of major hospitals in Korea employed a short FDD of 100 cm with an anti-scatter grid for the chest radiological examination of a 15 month old infant. As a result, the entrance surface air kerma (ESAK) values for the hospitals of this survey exceeded the Korean DRL (diagnostic reference level) of $100{\mu}Gy$. Therefore, appropriate technical parameters should be established to perform pediatric chest examinations on children of different ages. The results of this study may serve as a baseline to establish detailed reference level of pediatric dose for different ages.
Circular metal electrodes were vacuum-deposited with chromium on the both sides of Teflon-FEP and PET film characteristic of electret and the physical properties of the two polymers were observed during an irradiation by gamma-ray from $\^$60/Co. With the onset of irradiation of output 25.0 cGy/min the induced current increased rapidly for 2 sec, reached a maximum, and subsequently decreased. A steady-state induced current was reached about in 60 second. The dielectric constant and conductivity of Teflon-FEP were changed from 2.15 to 18.0 and from l${\times}$l0$\^$-17/ to 1.57${\times}$10$\^$-13/ $\Omega$-$\^$-1/cm$\^$-1/, respectively. For PET the dielectric constant was changed from 3 to 18.3 and the conductivity from 10$\^$-17/ to 1.65${\times}$10$\^$-13/ $\Omega$-$\^$-1/cm$\^$-1/. The increase of the radiation-induced steady state current I$\^$c/, permittivity $\varepsilon$ and conductivity $\sigma$ with output(4.0 cGy/min, 8.5 cGy/min, 15.6 cGy/min, 19.3 cGy/min) was observed. A series of independent measurements were also performed to evaluate reproducibility and revealed less than 1% deviation in a day and 3% deviation in a long term. Charge and current showed the dependence on the interval between measurements, the smaller the interval was, the bigger the difference between initial reading and next reading was. At least in 20 minutes of next reading reached an initial value. It may indicate that the polymers were exhibiting an electret state for a while. These results can be explained by the internal polarization associated with the production of electron-hole pairs by secondary electrons, the change of conductivity and the equilibrium due to recombination etc. Heating to the sample made the reading value increase in a short time, it may be interpreted that the internal polarization was released due to heating and it contributed the number of charge carriers to increase when the samples was again irradiated. The linearity and reproducibility of the samples with the applied voltage and absorbed dose and a large amount of charge measured per unit volume compared with the other chambers give the feasibility of a radiation detector and make it possible to reduce the volume of a detector.

Purpose : To supply the information of EPID system and to analyze the possibility of substitution EPID for film dosimetry. Materials & Methods : With amorphous silicon(aSi) type EPID and liquid filled lonization chamber(LC) type EPID, the reproducibility according to focus detector distance(FDD) change and gantry rotation was analyzed, and also the possible range of image acquisition was analyzed with Alderson Rando phantom. The resolution and the contrast of aSi type EPID image were analyzed through Las Vegas phantom and water phantom. DMLC image was analyzed with X-Omat V film and EPID to see wether it could be applied to the qualify assurance(QA) of IMRT. Results : The reproducibility of FDD position was within 1mm, but the reproducibility of gantry rotation was ${\pm}2,\;{\pm}3mm$ respectively. The resolution and the contrast of EPID image were affected by dose rate, image acquisition time, image acquisition method and frame number. According to the possible range of image acquisition of EPID, it is verified that the EPID is easier to use than film. There is no difference between X-Omat V film and EPID images for the QA of IMRT. Conclusion : Through various evaluation, we could obtain lots of useful information about the EPID. Because the EPID has digital data, also we found that the EPID is more useful than film dosimerty for the periodical Qualify Assurance of IMRT. Especially when it is difficult to do point dose measurement with diode or ionization chamber, the EPID could be very useful substitute. And we found that the diode and ionization chamber are difficult to evaluate the sliding window images of IMRT, but the EPID was more useful to do it.

Electric power which is the energy source of economy and industries requires long distance transportation due to regional difference between its production and consumption, and it is supplied through the multi-loop transmission and distribution system. Prior to its actual use, electric power flows through several transformations by voltage transformers in substations depending on the characteristics of each usage, and a transformer has the structure consisting of the main body, winding wire, insulating oil and bushings. A transformer fire that breaks out in substations entails the primary damage that interrupts the power supply to houses and commercial facilities and causes various safety accidents as well as the secondary economic losses. It is considered that causes of such fire include the leak of insulating oil resulting from the destruction of bottom part of bushings, and the chain reaction of fire due to insulating oil that reaches its ignition point within 1 second. The smoke detector and automatic fire extinguishing system are established in order to minimize fire damage, but a difficulty in securing golden time for extinguishing fire due to delay in the operation of detector and release of gas from the extinguishing system has become a problem. Accordingly, this study was carried out according to needs of active mechanism to prevent the spread of fire and block the leak of insulating oil, in accordance with the importance of securing golden time in extinguishing a fire in its early stage. A bushings fireproof structure was developed by applying the high temperature shape retention materials, which are expanded by flame, and mechanical flame cutoff devices. The bushings fireproof structure was installed on the transformer model produced by applying the actual standards of bushings and flange, and the full scale fire test was carried out. It was confirmed that the bushings fireproof structure operated at accurate position and height within 3 seconds from the flame initiation. It is considered that it could block the spread of flame effectively in the event of actual transformer fire.
