Several sensor devices have been developed for monitoring individual's health and status information and services which visualize customized information by associating applications running on smartphones with sensor devices also have been emerged. Though these applications provide similar information to a user, each sensor device has its own application caused by non-standardized packet formats. In this paper, we propose a sensor device identification for dynamic interworking between a smartphone and personal sensor devices. In the proposed scheme, we can use the same application which plays role of a client on the smartphone as changing sensor devices because server stores packet information of sensor devices.
The government has tried to develop a platform for systematically collecting and managing engineering education data for policy proposals. However, there have been few cases of big data analysis platform for policy proposals in engineering education, and it is difficult to determine the major function of the platform, the purpose of using big data, and the method of data collection. This study aims to collect the cases of big data analysis systems for the development of a big data system for educational policy proposals, and to conduct a study to analyze cases using the analysis frame of key elements to consider in developing a big data analysis platform. In order to analyze the case of big data system for engineering education policy proposals, 24 systems collecting and managing big data were selected. The analysis framework was developed based on literature reviews and the results of the case analysis were presented. The results of this study are expected to provide from macro-level such as what functions the platform should perform in developing a big data system and how to collect data, what analysis techniques should be adopted, and how to visualize the data analysis results.

The structural intensity analysis, which calculates vibration energy flow from vibratory velocity and internal force of a structure, can give information on sources' power, dominant transmission path and sink of vibration energy. In this study, we present a system for structural intensity analysis and visualization to apply for anti-vibration design of ship structures. The system calculates structural intensity from the results of forced vibration analysis and visualize the intensity using a general purpose finite element analysis program MSC/Nastran and its pre- and post-processor program. To demonstrate the analysis and visualization capability of the presented system, we show and discuss the results of structural intensity analysis for a cross-stiffened plate and a 70,500 OW crude oil tanker

Speckle imaging is capable of dynamic data acquisition at high spatiotemporal resolution, and has played a vital role in the functional study of biological specimens. The presence of various optical scatterers within the tissue causes alteration of speckle contrast. Thus structures like blood vessels can be delineated and quantified. Although laser speckle imaging is frequently used, an optimization process to ensure the maximum speckle contrast has not been available. In this respect, we here report an experimental procedure to optimize speckle contrast via applying different combinations of varying polarization of the illuminating laser light and multiple analyzer angles. Specifically, samples were illuminated by the p-polarization, 45°-polarization, and s-polarization of the incident laser, and speckle images were recorded without and with the analyzer rotated from 0° to 180° (Δ = 30°). Following the baseline imaging of a solid diffuser and a fixed brain sample, laser speckle contrast imaging (LSCI) was successfully performed to visualize in vivo mouse-brain blood flow. For oblique laser illumination, the maximum contrast achieved with p-polarized and s-polarized light was perpendicular to the analyzer's axis. This study demonstrates the optimization process for maximizing the speckle contrast, which can improve blood-flow estimation in vivo.

Probabilistic safety assessments (PSA) have been used for several decades to visualize the risk level of commercial nuclear power plants (NPPs). Since the role of a human reliability analysis (HRA) is to provide human error probabilities for safety critical tasks to support PSA, PSA quality is strongly affected by HRA quality. Therefore, it is important to understand the underlying limitations or problems of HRA techniques. For this reason, this study conducted a survey among 14 subject matter experts who represent the HRA community of domestic Korean NPPs. As a result, five significant HRA issues were identified: (1) providing a technical basis for the K-HRA (Korean HRA) method, and developing dedicated HRA methods applicable to (2) diverse external events to support Level 1 PSA, (3) digital environments, (4) mobile equipment, and (5) severe accident management guideline tasks to support Level 2 PSA. In addition, an HRA method to support multi-unit PSA was emphasized because it plays an important role in the evaluation of site risk, which is one of the hottest current issues. It is believed that creating such a catalog of prioritized issues will be a good indication of research direction to improve HRA and therefore PSA quality.

Heterogeneity in cancer is the major obstacle for precision medicine and has become a critical issue in the field of a cancer diagnosis. Many attempts were made to disentangle the complexity by molecular classification. However, multi-dimensional information from dynamic responses of cancer poses fundamental limitations on biomolecular marker-based conventional approaches. Cell morphology, which reflects the physiological state of the cell, can be used to track the temporal behavior of cancer cells conveniently. Here, we first present a hybrid learning-based platform that extracts cell morphology in a time-dependent manner using a deep convolutional neural network to incorporate multivariate data. Feature selection from more than 200 morphological features is conducted, which filters out less significant variables to enhance interpretation. Our platform then performs unsupervised clustering to unveil dynamic behavior patterns hidden from a high-dimensional dataset. As a result, we visualize morphology state-space by two-dimensional embedding as well as representative morphology clusters and trajectories. This cell morphology profiling strategy by hybrid learning enables simplification of the heterogeneous population of cancer.

This study analyzes the global literature on the black open-access phenomenon from 2011 to 2023. A bibliometric analysis was conducted using the Scopus database. The search strategy employed advanced queries with multiple synonymous terms to ensure exhaustive retrieval of relevant documents. The VOSviewer software was employed to visualize the co-occurrence networks. The findings reported 90 papers published during the study period. An evolving scholarly landscape was revealed, with heightened attention from 2016 onwards, peaking in 2017, 2021, and 2023. Articles constitute 83.3% of the total published documents. Singh and Srichandan are prolific authors, with 11.2% of the total publications. The United States contributes 18.9% of the papers, followed by India and Spain. Information Development and Scientometrics are pivotal journals in scholarly discussions about this scope, contributing 4.4% of publications. Co-occurrence network visualization revealed "Sci-Hub" and "open access" as the most used keywords in the global literature. The findings underscore the need for additional research to discover innovative business models to safeguard intellectual property rights while meeting researchers' evolving needs. The importance of this paper comes from being the first bibliometric study analyzing international literature related to this phenomenon, which provides a basis for future research efforts and policymaking.

For military training and course-of-action analysis, OneSAF Int'l version being used in ROK Army has a limited capability to simulate NBC(nuclear, biological, and chemical) damages. For high-fidelity NBC combat simulation, it is required to visualize NBC contamination dispersion in consideration of weather conditions and terrain characteristics. However, OneSAF itself handling interaction among thousands of combat entities cannot carry out a simulation of NBC contamination dispersion because it brings about an excess burden. To resolve this problem, this research aims to design simulation federation for analysis on NBC operational effects. After examining design consideration to connect OneSAF and a NBC contamination dispersion model, we design a federation architecture that facilitates the interaction between OneSAF and a NBC contamination dispersion model. Afterwards, we implement a federation interface to share simulation data by publish-subscribe pattern and to translate them into the proprietary format for each model. We prove the possibility of federation between both models, as showing that dispersion of NBC contaminated cloud and changes in concentration are reflected in OneSAF-based engagement simulation.
