  • This paper demonstrates the CAS technique of analyzing the nature and the structure of the numerical error for education and research purposes.   • This study is on the strategy for establishing successful corporate brand image, by understanding the need for increasing brand value based on the level of brand recognition. In order to carry this out, the PICS (Product Image Concentration System) is suggested, which includes Brand Image Analysis on a high-level, Product Image Programming based on the result of the image analysis, and Product Image Coherency Assessment and Management, resulting in setting up a guideline for gaining competitive advantage and brand management. Brand Image Analysis is a method that utilizes image association to understand brand disposition by analyzing the association pattern among available visual materials to measure the corporate and brand image inclinations. As the next step, Product Image Programming establishes design philosophy and principles based on the analysis of brand image, and the Visual Programming is a process for visualizing the intended product image direction. Lastly, Product Image Coherency Assessment examines whether to incorporate design philosophy and principles or not to arrive at an agreed evaluation criteria for developing designs coherent with the brand image. The PICS (Product Image Concentration System) is a practical method for increasing a company' competitive advantage and managing brand. The expectation on this system is to provide a guideline for applying brand image in design process more objectively. For further study, diversification of image spectrum based on expressive keywords and comparative analysis on images as well as a product image interpretation program to understand the order of visual materials will be necessary.

Consistency of Responses to Affective Stimuli Across Individuals using Intersubject Representational Similarity Analysis based on Behavioral and Physiological Data (참가자 간 표상 유사성 분석을 이용한 정서 자극 반응 일치성 비교: 행동 및 생리 데이터를 기반으로)

  • This study used intersubject representational similarity analysis (IS-RSA) to identify participant-response consistency patterns in previously published data. Additionally, analysis of variance (ANOVA) was utilized to detect any variations in the conditions of each experiment. In each experiment, a combination of ASMR stimulation, visual and auditory stimuli, and time-series emotional video stimulation was employed, and emotional ratings and physiological measurements were collected in accordance with the respective experimental conditions. Every pair of participants' measurements for each stimulus in each experiment was correlated using Pearson correlation coefficient as part of the IS-RSA. The results of study revealed a consistent response pattern among participants exposed to ASMR, visual, and auditory stimuli, in contrast to those exposed to time-series emotional video stimulation. Notably, the ASMR experiment demonstrated a high level of response consistency among participants in positive conditions. Furthermore, both auditory and visual experiments exhibited remarkable consistency in participants' responses, especially when subjected to high arousal levels and visual stimulation. The findings of this study confirm that IS-RSA serves as a valuable tool for summarizing and presenting multidimensional data information. Within the scope of this study, IS-RSA emerged as a reliable method for analyzing multidimensional data, effectively capturing and presenting comprehensive information pertaining to the participants.

Research on Types of Visual Rhythmic Sense in Typography (타이포그래피의 시각적 리듬감 유형 연구)

  • Typography in visual communication design is 'potential form' hidden within a space. Showing rhythm in typography is making 'aesthetic sense' in a graphic which has formative characteristics, the way of expression is very important. When the rhythm is recognized through visual stream, Rhythmic Sense is formed. The research will present a new form of the Visual Rhythmic Sense by analyzing typography works out positively. First of all, I researched works done by Fillippo Marinetti, Robert Massin, Wolfgang Weingart, and David Carson for their vigorous experimentalism in typography in forming visual rhythm. I used S.D. Scale method to analyze characteristics of visual image and VARIMAX for factor analysis reaching types of visual rhythm, which could be classified as following. (1) Synesthesia Rhythmic Sense (R-synesthesia) means that the senses are conveyed through 'visualization of auditory sense' and 'visualization of touch' (2) Simultaneous Rhythmic Sense (R-simultaneity) means that the time and space co-exist in one plane. (3) Connective Rhythmic Sense(R-connection) means that different factors (Within one plane) co-exist interacting with one another and creating a unified impression through such a process. (4) Artist Oriented Rhythmic Sense ($-artist) means that the artist interprets the content subjectively and expresses his/her impression, thereby, attracting a gaze of audience systematically and arbitrarily. (5) Reader Oriented Rhythmic Sense(R-reader) avoids the existing legibility formed through aggressive engagement of the reader.

The Effects of Interrelationship after Wearing between Respirators and Glasses Simultaneously (안면부 여과식 방진 마스크와 안경 동시 착용 시 상호 영향)

  • This study compares the interrelation of fit factor(FF) and visual acuity test by the order of wearing preference between Particulate filtering face piece respirators(PFFR) and glasses for 54 participants. Glasses fitting factors is Optical Center Height(OH), Vertex Distance(VD) and Pantoscopic Angle(PA) or Visual acuity. We measured those factors and expressed by the ratio of standard point and change point. Quantitative fit factor was measured by Portacount Pro+ 8038 and compared the result of preference of wearing order between respirators and glasses. Also, we selected to 6 exercises among 8 exercises OSHA QNFT (Quantitative Fit testing) protocol to measure the fit factors. The pass/ fail criterion of FF was set at 100. Visual acuity test chart is developed by Chunsuk Han was used, Descriptive statistics was performed. Descriptive statistics(SAS ver 9.2), it is used geometric means, Wilcoxon analysis, peason correlation(P=0.05) Fit factor was increased when the respirator was worn before wearing the glasses(p=0.000) and decreased for visual acuity(p=0.000) The negative correlation was showed between OH and Overall fit factor(r=-0.409, p=0.002). Among 54 participants, 11 participants(20.3%) were worn respirator before wearing glasses and 1 participant(1.9%) was worn glasses before wearing respirator. The overall fit test showed the higher level was investigated for the group of participants wearing respirator before wearing glasses in 6 exercises. Also, overall fit factor were increased when participants wore glasses prior to respirator(16.6) to respirator prior to glasses(36.6). Visual acuity were increased when participants wore respirator prior to glasses(93.8) to glasses prior to respirator(106.0). Finally, comparison result of overall fit factor and visual acuity were glasses first choice from mask first choice. The results showed that higher overall fit factor was investigate when the participants wore the respirator prior to glassess at all. The results implied that it is important to maintain the overall fit factor and visual acuity according to the consideration of OH for glasses fitting when worker wore respirator and glasses at the same time.

Analysis of the relationship between e-brand personalities and visual attributes (웹페이지 디자인의 이브랜드 개성 구축을 위한 시각조형특성 분석)

  • The brand personality of online products and services is know as its e-brand personality. Although, in the competitive conditions of online markets, e-brand personality is agreed to be an important factor, few studies have suggested how to establish e-brand personality through the visual design of web sites. This study identifies and verifies causal relationships between the visual attributes of web pages and e-brand personalities. The first identifies four major dimensions of e-brand personality on diverse web sites. The second uses 52 experimental home pages to identify key visual attributes associated with those four personality dimensions. The third is a confirmatory study with 16 experimental web sites that verifies causal relationships between visual attributes and e-brand personalities. The results show that two visual attributes, 'simplicity' and 'cohesion,' help to establish a 'bold' personality. Three attributes, 'contrast,' 'density,' and 'regularity,' affect whether a site has an 'analytical' personality. 'Contrast,' 'cohesion,' 'density,' and 'regularity' all influence whether a web site is perceived to have a 'friendly' personality. 'Regularity' and 'balance' were expected to affect the 'sophisticated' personality dimension, but no such impact was observed. The paper concludes with a discussion of implications, limitations, and future research directions.

  • The roles of the characters of 3D animation Toystory3, which was released in 2010 and achieved worldwide success, can be classified into typical, simple and easy-to-understand roles such as hero, villain, princess, and assistant. However, the process, in which each character's role is finally recognized by the audience, is embodied in a very colorful and exquisite manner and makes the curiosity of the audience continue effectively. The stream of the diverse role changes of the characters of Toystory3 is represented through "visual rhythm of the lighting design" and such rhythm can be confirmed most clearly in the digital colorscript stage. This researcher analyzed the characters' role changes in the work based on Propp's folktale character analysis theory, and extracted the core scenes that lead to inference, doubt, performance, reinforcement by character in order to grasp how the audience gasps major characters' role changes. The visual differences of the lighting design, which the four core scenes of each character show, were represented in graph and analyzed, and the results showed that the changes that one character has constituted rhythmical, visual contrast gradually and the rhythms of each independent character achieve visual contrast and harmony each other like the voice part of polyphony. This researcher calls this "the visual counterpoint of character's changing" and derives the conclusion that a dual visual counterpoint is hidden in the character production of the full-length animation Toystory3. Along with this, this researcher proposes the production of full-length animation that actively utilizes constructive aesthetics.

State of Visual Acuity Test and Factors Related to Vision Deterioration of Preschoolers (미취학 아동의 시력검진 실태와 시력저하 관련요인)

  • The study aimed to examine the state of visual acuity tests in preschoolers and determine the factors affecting the deterioration of their vision. A total of 172 pair, child aged 5-7 years and either one of their parents, were recruited from childcare centers or kindergarten between August 2015 and January 2016. Questionnaires were administered to the parents, and the children's visual acuities were measured. Using forward selection in logistics regression analysis, factors affecting vision deterioration were elucidated. Of 172 children, 128 (74.4%) had undergone a visual acuity test previously and 77 (44.8%) showed a deterioration in their vision. Children who had undergone their first visual acuity test after the age of 7 years (OR=7.425, CI=2.844- 19.385) and showed more abnormal eye symptoms, such as squinting or tilting the head to see or falling down frequently (OR=3.084, CI=1.202-7.914) and whose age was younger (OR=10.335, CI=3.252-32.848), were more likely to develop deterioration of vision. Children who had a posture such that they looked up at the computer monitor from below (OR=.075, CI=.022-.255), were less likely to show deterioration of vision. It can be inferred that early visual acuity tests is essential to detect deteriorated vision of preschoolers. Therefore, it is necessary to educate parents, personnels in day care center, and health clinics about the importance of early visual acuity tests and close observation of specific behaviors related to vision deterioration. Development of precautionary intervention program of vision deterioration in preschoolers and examination of its effects are needed.

  • The art of dynamic images has experienced three development stages, including experimental films, recording art, and new media image. By introducing all kinds of new materials, new media to the art, and the art of dynamic images has created more freedom for art creation. With the development of digital information technology, dynamic image works have put forward an increasingly high requirement of visual art. The combination of dynamic images and visual illusion can give rise to different forms and expression methods, thus endowing artworks with more vigor. This paper provides an overview by sorting out the lineage and development of dynamic images in the background, as well as understanding the application and performance of contrasted visual illusion. Based on the understanding of the characteristics of visual illusion, we discuss the new characteristics of applying the theory of visual illusion to new media dynamic images in relation to the technical approach of dynamic images. Through the analysis of specific works of Telematic Vision, we search for its reasonable combination and find the appropriate technical means of implementation. We discuss how to use digital multimedia technology and spatial optical illusion to make the design more novel and impactful, and consider how the combination of digital dynamic image technology and visual illusion should be interpreted and applied.

A LiDAR-based Visual Sensor System for Automatic Mooring of a Ship (선박 자동계류를 위한 LiDAR기반 시각센서 시스템 개발)

  • This paper discusses about the development of a visual sensor that can be installed in an automatic mooring device to detect the berthing condition of a vessel. Despite controlling the ship's speed and confirming its location to prevent accidents while berthing a vessel, ship collision occurs at the pier every year, causing great economic and environmental damage. Therefore, it is important to develop a visual system that can quickly obtain the information on the speed and location of the vessel to ensure safety of the berthing vessel. In this study, a visual sensor was developed to observe a ship through an image while berthing, and to properly check the ship's status according to the surrounding environment. To obtain the adequacy of the visual sensor to be developed, the sensor characteristics were analyzed in terms of information provided from the existing sensors, that is, detection range, real-timeness, accuracy, and precision. Based on these analysis data, we developed a 3D visual module that can acquire information on objects in real time by conducting conceptual designs of LiDAR (Light Detection And Ranging) type 3D visual system, driving mechanism, and position and force controller for motion tilting system. Finally, performance evaluation of the control system and scan speed test were executed, and the effectiveness of the developed system was confirmed through experiments.
