Analysis of learning effects using audio-visual manual of SWAT (SWAT의 시청각 매뉴얼을 통한 학습 효과 분석)

  • In the modern society, GIS-based decision support system has been used in evaluating environmental issues and changes due to spatial and temporal analysis capabilities of the GIS. However without proper manual of these systems, its desired goals could not be achieved. In this study, audio-visual SWAT tutorial system was developed to evaluate its effectives in learning the SWAT model. Learning effects was analyzed after in-class demonstration and survey. The survey was conducted for $3^{rd}$ grade students with/without audio-visual materials using 30 questionnaires, composed of 3 items for trend of respondent, 5 items for effects of audio-visual materials, and 12 items for effects of with/without manual in learning the model. For group without audio-visual manual, 2.98 out of 5 was obtained and 4.05 out of 5 was obtained for group with audio-visual manual, indicating higher content delivery with audio-visual learning effects. As shown in this study, the audio-visual learning material should be developed and used in various computer-based modeling system.

Development of Automatic BIM Modeling System for Slit Caisson (슬릿 케이슨의 BIM 모델링 자동화 시스템 개발)

  • With the promotion of digitalization in the construction industry, BIM has become an indispensable technology. On the other hand, it has not been actively utilized in practice because of the difficulty of BIM modeling. The reason is that 3D modeling is less productive not only because of the difficulty of learning BIM software but also the modeling work is done manually. Therefore, this study proposes a method and system that can improve the productivity of BIM-based modeling. For this reason, in the study, a slit caisson, which is a typical structure of a port, was selected as a development target, and various parameters were derived through interviews with experts so that it could be used in practice. This study presents a UI construction plan that considers user convenience for efficient management and operation of diverse and complex parameters. Based on this, this study used visual programming and Excel VBA to develop a BIM-based design automation system for slit caissons. The developed system can use many parameters to quickly develop slit caisson models suitable for various design conditions that can contribute to BIM-based modeling and productivity improvement.

Visual Sensor Design and Environment Modeling for Autonomous Mobile Welding Robots (자율 주행 용접 로봇을 위한 시각 센서 개발과 환경 모델링)

  • Automation of welding process in shipyards is ultimately necessary, since the welding site is spatially enclosed by floors and girders, and therefore welding operators are exposed to hostile working conditions. To solve this problem, a welding mobile robot that can navigate autonomously within the enclosure has been developed. To achieve the welding task in the closed space, the robotic welding system needs a sensor system for the working environment recognition and the weld seam tracking, and a specially designed environment recognition strategy. In this paper, a three-dimensional laser vision system is developed based on the optical triangulation technology in order to provide robots with 3D work environmental map. Using this sensor system, a spatial filter based on neural network technology is designed for extracting the center of laser stripe, and evaluated in various situations. An environment modeling algorithm structure is proposed and tested, which is composed of the laser scanning module for 3D voxel modeling and the plane reconstruction module for mobile robot localization. Finally, an environmental recognition strategy for welding mobile robot is developed in order to recognize the work environments efficiently. The design of the sensor system, the algorithm for sensing the partially structured environment with plane segments, and the recognition strategy and tactics for sensing the work environment are described and discussed with a series of experiments in detail.

A Plan to Maximizing the Visual Immersion of 3D Media Art (3D 미디어아트의 시각적 몰입감 극대화 방안)

  • Recently, media art is transforming from analogue to 'digital', and from 2D to '3D'. In particular, the range of utilizing 3D Media Art is getting wider through merging with other genres of contents in the digital environments, such as Media façade, Hologram, Virtual reality, App application, and etc. Therefore, by referring to the 3D award-winning works of Pirx Ars Electronica, which are regarded as the most outstanding works of media art of today, factors that affect sensation of visual immersion have been analyzed, through which strategies for maximizing viewers' interests in media arts and heightening their emotions while viewing have been determined. Based on the findings of the study, it has been shown that such works of media arts that involve development of concepts with 'creativity' and 'variability' from the perspective of visual concept, such as 3D modeling and mapping, with 'consistency' through out all concepts, as well as the works with stronger 'restriction' of concept within its animation and postproduction, attracted more interests from the viewer. From the point of view with visual four steps in composition, positioning the change in quality of 3D 'shape' and 'material' following the four-step rule, and gradual increase of change in quantity within the 'number' and 'size', in addition to increased degree of systematization within the change in editing, such as the 'scene change', resulted in more heightened emotions from the viewer. Thus, in order to maximize sensation of visual immersion, strategies for 'developing 3D visual concepts' while 'synchronizing' them, as well as 'strengthening the four steps within 3D visual composition' while 'systematizing' them should be emphasized.

The plastic design of dart location from the viewpoint of visual-spatial division (시각적 공간분할로 본 Dart 위치의 조형적 설계)

  • To study the body trunk basic to Clothing construction, and study the peculiarities of visual spatial division, necessary items are measured indirectly from 216 unmarried women from 19 to 24 years old by a photographic net-work method. In so doing, the problem of Fashion Design in establishing the location of Darts for Basic Dress is not considered. The following results are obtained. 1) Indirect measuring method, is obtained approximate to actual size, with an error of .+-. 2.8cm. 2) In the modeling plan of Dart location viewed from the visual-spatial division in Basic Dress, it is concluded that Darts are to be placed at the point of 1/3k+1/5k form the waist. From the aesthetic point of wiew, it is more appealling for darts to be placed at the point of 6cm .+-. 0.6cm right or left of center. 3) From direct measurement dart location can be set based on bust point width, and from indirect measurement, dart location can be set based on waist width.

3-D Model-based UAV Path Generation for Visual Inspection of the Dome-type Nuclear Containment Building (UAV를 이용한 돔형 원자력 격납건물 외관조사를 위한 3차원 모델기반 비행 좌표 생성 방법)

  • This paper provides a method for generating flight path of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) that is intended to be used in visual inspection of dome-type nuclear containment building. The method basically employs 3-D model to extract accurate location coordinates. Two basic route patterns that provide guide lines in defining moving locations were defined for each side wall and dome section of the containment. The route patterns support sequential capturing of images as well. In addition, several simple equations and an algorithm for calculation of the moving location on the route were developed on the basis of 3-D geometric characteristics of the containment building. A prototype computer program has been implemented to validate the proposed method, and a case study shows the method can visualize covering area in 3-D model as well.

Each process is managed not a batch mode, which is one of most popular manufacturing styles to produce a great deal of industrial output, but though a modular cell. In the processes, a modular cell has to be processed independently of the other cells. Optimization for the composition of assembly cell in the optical-components system is made by the Visual factory model.

  • We evaluate what kinds of differences are existed to the visual sensitivity of college students m Daegu and Daejeon. Evaluation used the produced basic pattern to change modeling element of figure, direction, proportion, and color. The results are as below. The circle is preferred to the figure sensitivity and the triangle in Daegu and triangle and quadrangle in Daejeon is disliked. The direction sensitivity shows the difference of preferences according to figure. The angle of $0^{\circ}$ and $90^{\circ}$ which could be felt stability is preferred in general. In proportion sensitivity, the basic figure 1:1 rectangular proportions are preferred. The color sensitivity I shows the differences of preference according to figure and there are difference to the area in the degree of aversion.

  • 일반적으로 프로그램을 배우는 초보자들은 텍스트 기반으로 프로그램을 하는 것이 매우 어렵다. 이러한 문제를 쉽게 풀기 위한 한 방법이 Visual C++, Visual Basic, Delphi와 같은 비주얼 프로그램으로 구현하는 것이다. 그러나 이러한 프로그램을 배우는 학습자들 역시, 비주얼 컴포넌트 작동에 대한 텍스트 프로그래밍을 어려워하고 있다. 논문에서는 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위해 논리적 사고를 표현하고 객체지향을 지원하기 위해 UML을 도입하고 텍스트 프로그래밍 요소를 비주얼 프로그래밍 요소로 대체하기 위해 객체지향을 지원하는 LabVIEW OOP를 사용하여 학습자들에게 프로그래밍 교육을 하는 방법을 제시하였다. 또한, 제시된 프로그래밍 교육 방법에 대해 설문조사를 실시하여 교육적인 효과를 분석하였다.
