영상화소의 활동도를 이용한 화질 개선 (Image Enhancement using Statistical Information of Pixel Dynamics)

  • 본 논문에서는 디지털 영상의 화질 개선을 위해 선명화와 잡음제거를 동시에 수행하는 새로운 알고리즘을 제안한다. 제안하는 방법은 영상 화소들에 대하여 계산된 활동도의 통계적 정보를 활용하여 평탄영역과 평탄하지 않은 영역을 구분하고 각 영역에 대해 저주파 통과 필터와 고주파 통과필터를 각기 다르게 적용하여 화질을 개선한다. 각 필터의 적용 강도는 활동도의 히스토그램을 바탕으로 하는 사상함수에 의해 결정되므로 기존의 잡음제거 필터와 샤프닝 필터가 가지고 있던 복잡한 파라메터의 설정과정이 필요 없이 평탄영역에서의 잡음제거 및 블러링 효과와 활동성이 높은 영역에서의 선명화 효과를 동시에 얻을 수 있다. 또한 화질개선에 필요한 파라메터가 통계적 정보를 이용하여 자동으로 얻어지므로 많은 양의 화질개선 작업을 일괄적으로 수행하는 경우에도 최적의 결과물을 기대할 수 있다.

A Novel Automatic Block-based Multi-focus Image Fusion via Genetic Algorithm

  • The key issue of block-based multi-focus image fusion is to determine the size of the sub-block because different sizes of the sub-block will lead to different fusion effects. To solve this problem, this paper presents a novel genetic algorithm (GA) based multi-focus image fusion method, in which the block size can be automatically found. In our method, the Sum-modified-Laplacian (SML) is selected as an evaluation criterion to measure the clarity of the image sub-block, and the edge information retention is employed to calculate the fitness of each individual. Then, through the selection, crossover and mutation procedures of the GA, we can obtain the optimal solution for the sub-block, which is finally used to fuse the images. Experimental results show that the proposed method outperforms the traditional methods, including the average, gradient pyramid, discrete wavelet transform (DWT), shift invariant DWT (SIDWT) and two existing GA-based methods in terms of both the visual subjective evaluation and the objective evaluation.

무선환경에서 MPEG-4 영상의 오류은닉 방법 (Error Concealment Method for MPEG-4 Video in Wireless Environment)

  • 전송 오류율이 높은 이동통신 환경에서 동영상 서비스를 제공하려면 전송오류에 대한 검출 및 은닉이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 MPEG-4 동영상 비트열을 구성하는 비디오 패킷 데이터가 손실되었을 때, 수신단에서 간단히 손상된 영상을 복구해낼 수 있는 적응적 오류은닉 방법을 제안한다. 제안된 방법은, 손실된 비디오 패킷에 포함되었을 매크로블록의 개수가 영상의 움직임 특성을 반영한다는 사실을 이용하여, 블록 반복 및 움직임 보상을 적응적으로 사용하므로써 영상 오류를 은닉하게 된다. 실험 결과, 제안 방법은 영상에 존재하는 움직임 특성에 따라 효과적으로 사용됨을 알 수 있었다. 일반적으로 손쉽게 사용될 수 있는 블록 반복 은닉 방법 혹은 움직임 보상 은닉 방법과 비교하여 최대 1dB 이상의 화질 개선이 있었으며, 주관적 화질 측면에서도 우수한 결과를 얻었다.

  • The purpose of this study is to provide implications for improvement of mathematics textbook based on discursive approach to textbook analysis that complementarily combines a communicational approach to cognition and social semiotics. For this purpose, we reconstructed an analytic framework for discursive approach to written discourses of Korean textbook and CMP, and applied it to our analysis. Results show that several characteristics in meanings were developed by the use of words and visual mediators. First, in the case of ideational meaning, there were qualitative and quantitative differences between vocabularies used and between information addressed by visual mediators. Second, in the case of structural meaning, an offer and application of procedure was emphasized in a Korean textbook, whereas expectation and selection experiences of diverse possibilities for problem solving was underlined in CMP. In the case interpersonal meaning of student-author, imperative instructions were paid attentions in a Korean textbook. In contrast, students' interdependence and active participation were stressed in CMP. Therefore, this study addressed ideas about how to analyze mathematics textbooks based on integrated meanings developed by the use of words and visual mediators. In addition, it distributes implications for improvements of Korean mathematics textbooks through the analytic framework of both mathematical meanings and interpersonal meanings of student-author.

밝기 왜곡을 고려한 윤곽선 근사화용 정점 선택 방법 (Vertex selection method considering texture degradation for contour approximation)

  • 본 논문에서는 다각형 기반 윤곽선 근사화를 위한 새로운 정점 선택 방법을 제안한다. 제안 방법은 전체 윤곽선을 부분 윤곽선으로 분할하고, 분할된 각 부분 윤곽선을 가변적 정확도에 따라 적응적으로 근사화한다. 근사화 정확도는 각 부분 윤곽선의 상대적 중요도에 의해 결정된다. 이때 근사화 오차 영역에서 발생하는 밝기 왜곡을 고려하여 각 부분 윤곽선의 상대적 중요도를 결정함으로써, 같은 윤곽선 데이터 량으로 보다 높은 재생영상의 화질 향상을 이룰 수 있다. 이러한 개념을 바탕으로 영역간 대조와 최대허용오차($d_{max}$)와의 관계식을 유도하고, 이 식을 이용한 적응적 정점 선택 방법을 제안한다. 실험 결과, 제안된 방법이 영상 부호화의 측면에서 기존 기법보다 우수한 성능을 나타내었다.

태그 동시 출현의 동적인 특징을 이용한 개선된 태그 클라우드의 태그 선택 방법 (Improved Tag Selection for Tag-cloud using the Dynamic Characteristics of Tag Co-occurrence)

  • 태깅 시스템은 인터넷 사용자로 하여금 태그라고 불리는 메타데이터를 글, 사진, 동영상 등에 부여하도록 하여서 컨텐츠의 검색 및 브라우징을 편리하게 하는 시스템이다. 컨텐츠의 브라우징을 위해서 태그 클라우드라는 시각적 인터페이스가 널리 쓰이고 있다. 태그 클라우드는 가장 빈도수가 높은 태그들을 알파벳 순으로 보여주고 폰트의 크기로 그 태그들의 빈도수를 반영한다. 하지만 기존의 태그 선택 방법은 몇 가지 단점들이 알려져 있다. 그래서 이 논문은 참신한 컨텐츠들을 찾을 수 있도록 Freshness라는 태그 클라우드를 위한 새로운 태그 선택 방법을 정의하였다. Freshness는 태그 동시 발생 확률 분포(tag co-occurrence probability distribution)가 동적으로 변화하는 것을 Kullback-Leibler divergence로 평균한 값이다. Allblog, Eolin, Technorati 등 세 개의 웹사이트로부터 실제 태그 데이터를 수집하여 우리의 태그 클라우드를 생성하는 시스템, 'Fresh Tag Cloud'를 구축하였다. 이 태그 클라우드를 Allblog에서 수집한 데이터에서 전통적인 태그 클라우드와 비교했을 때 중복평균이 87.5% 감소하여서 성능이 더 향상된 것을 확인할 수 있다.

  • In this paper, we propose an EEG-based mental state prediction method during a mental tasks. In the experimental task, a subject goes through the process of responding to visual stimulus, understanding the given problem, controlling hand motions, and hitting a key. Considering the subject's varying brain activities, we model subjects' mental states with defining selection time. EEG signals from four subjects were recorded while they performed three mental tasks. Feature vectors defined by these representations were classified with a standard, feed-forward neural network trained via the error back-propagation algorithm. We expect that the proposed detection method can be a basic technology for brain-computer interface by combining with left/right hand movement or cognitive decision discrimination methods.

Structural Dashboard Design for Monitoring Job Performance of Internet Web Security Diagnosis Team: An Empirical Study of an IT Security Service Provider

  • Company A's core competency is IT internet security services. The Web diagnosis team analyzes the vulnerability of customer's internet web servers and provides remedy reports. Traditionally, Company A management has utilized a simple table format report for resource planning. But these reports do not notify the timing of human resource commitment. So, upper management asked its team leader to organize a task team and design a visual dashboard for decision making with the help of outside professional. The Task team selected the web security diagnosis practice process as a pilot and designed a dashboard for performance evaluation. A structural design process was implemented during the heuristic working process. Some KPI (key performance indicators) for checking the productivity of internet web security vulnerability reporting are recommended with the calculation logics. This paper will contribute for security service management to plan and address KPI design policy, target process selection, and KPI calculation logics with actual sample data.

  • In this paper, presented was the research work of finding practical application systems using IT that would be adopted by the next generation high speed train for the safety, convenience, and comfort of the passengers and crew members. Study on the applications using smart sensors and IT brought up 26 feasible application cases. Among them 16 cases were related with IT applications and 10 cases smart sensor applications. After having public hearings and surveys to make the decision more objective and generally acceptable, 7 applications - such as information providing service using personal LCD monitor, alarm service, individual internet access service, automatic and remote air conditioning, wireless visual communication with an attendant, extraordinary sound detection, urgent situation in toilet monitoring - out of those 26 were chosen as the final applications.

디즈니 애니메이션 악당 캐릭터의 색채분석 (Color Analysis of Disney Animation Villain Characters)

  • In the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution, not only artificial intelligence, big data, robots, and biotechnology, but also cultural industries that require human creativity will lead. Among the cultural industries, the animation industry has high industrial utilization value due to its high connection with other industries. Among them, animation characters play the most important role as the subject leading the story of animation. In particular, the villain character not only serves as a medium for the main character to lead the story, but also captivates the audience with a different presence from the main character, adding to the fun and completeness of the animation. These characters consist of visual elements such as form and color, of which color is a tool that effectively conveys the character's personality and role to the audience, and is the first visual element to be considered in delicately describing the character's emotions and the relationship between characters. Therefore, this study attempts to analyze the color of the villain character. To this end, we will select eight Disney animations to derive the characteristics of the villain character's color by analyzing the color, value, chroma, and color association of the colors used in the Disney villain character. As a result of the analysis, the colors mainly used by Disney to convey the villain's image were red (R) and Orange (YR), and there was no difference depending on the times or animation production methods. Second, the brightness of Disney villain characters appeared to be the same medium/famous regardless of the times and production methods, and the frequency of use of high brightness was very low. In terms of saturation, the frequency of use of high and low saturation was high. Third, blackish (Bk), Strong (S), dull (Dl), and deep (Dp) tones were mainly used for tones. In particular, in recent 3D animations than previously produced 2D animations, the use of low chroma and the high black mixing rate increased. Fourth, it can be seen that Disney uses color as a visual method to more clearly express the psychology of the villain character using color association. In conclusion, the color selection of animation characters should be carefully considered as a tool to convey the character's personality, role, and emotion beyond simply using color, and the color selection of characters using color associations and symbols strengthens the narrative structure. It is hoped that this study will help analyze and select the character color of animation.
