연꽃 문양을 이용한 직물디자인 개발 및 문화상품 제작(II) (The Development of Textile Design and The Manufacture of Cultural Merchandise by Using Lotus Flower Patterns(II))

  • In an information-oriented and internationalized society of the future, the quality and the price of goods made by each country will be equalized. That eliminates competition. But the design and appearance of products is an important factor in international competition. Indeed, design symbolizes a country's culture visually, and it can show the cultural identity and originality of a nation in international society. And that will play an important part that can contribute to creating added value. It is necessary to revive our people's old lyrical stories which are far away from our memory, and we badly need design development to revive traditional cultural merchandise through visual modernization. In this study, I chose lotus as the subject material of textile design development. And my intention for this study is to reflect Korean traditional cultural value as much as I can, and to develop textile design of Korean images by adding modern scenes. Also, I intend to print them on fabric, and apply them to cultural merchandise including scarves and ties, by using digital textile printing systems. The reasons for doing so, are to create high added value, and to let other peoples of the world, know about our excellent culture.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the tech fatale fashion image in female models of mobile advertisements and to find the fashion characteristics. The tech fatale emerging as new culture code is a compound word of the femme fatale and technology. It is characteristics of the femme fatale, the post digital culture and the female leadership. The findings of the study were as follows : The tech fatale types were the independence, the transformation and the tradition. The independence was a self expression, appealed to visual image, was showed the coating fabric, denim, space look and street fashion and reflected the creativeness and digital generation. The transformation appealed to sexuality and was showed luster fabric, exposure, body-conscious, glam look. The voluptuous beauty represented the pride of the post digital generation. The tradition appealed to emotion and was showed pale color, simple line, soft texture fabric and a feminine Image. The meanings of tech fatale were the imagination, the public, the duality, the game, the purity and the recurrence. The formative characteristics reflect the mind of post digital generation who is against authority and pursues the human being worth such as the identity establishment and the pure emotion.

  • Beauty of the proportion of the furniture of the Joseon Dynasty, have been studied by many researchers along with the ideological background. Furniture Joseon, can know that it has emphasized the beauty by placing the base with simplicity and to base the natural view. However, efforts are missing try to find a logical answer about what is configured by any principle view of nature we are talking about. Therefore, in the present study, we study the beauty of proportion to the center of the hall furniture Korea dynasty, and it was studied perspective of view of nature of the times. Around the neck of the Joseon Dynasty furniture, it is going to become an opportunity to say fundamentally the culture of their own ingenious with uniqueness by reviewing the discrimination of the cultural identity. That illuminates the housing culture through the characteristics of furniture and space, to pursue the unity is going to be able to find a lot of information from a wider point of view. In this paper we present a visual furniture material for efficient survey through use of research results, it is expected that it is used as related documents that can be usefully employed in the development process of the furniture design.

Individual differences in categorical perception: L1 English learners' L2 perception of Korean stops

  • This study investigated individual variability of L2 learners' categorical judgments of L2 stops by exploring English learners' perceptual processing of two acoustic cues (voice onset time [VOT] and f0) and working memory capacity as sources of variation. As prior research has reported that English speakers' greater use of the redundant cue f0 was responsible for gradient processing of native stops, we examined whether the same processing characteristics would be observed in L2 learners' perception of Korean stops (/t/-/th/). 22 English learners of L2 Korean with a range of L2 proficiency participated in a visual analogue scaling task and demonstrated variable manners of judging the L2 Korean stops: Some were more gradient than others in performing the task. Correlation analysis revealed that L2 learners' categorical responses were modestly related to individuals' utilizations of a primary cue for the stop contrast (VOT for L1 English stops and f0 for L2 Korean stops), and were also related to better working memory capacity. Together, the current experimental evidence demonstrates adult L2 learners' top-down processing of stop consonants where linguistic and cognitive resources are devoted to a process of determining abstract phonemic identity.

한국 도시경관의 새로운 계획 파라다임 -미학적 사고의 가능성 모색 (Exploring a New Planning Paradigm for Urban Landscape in Korea : An Aesthetic Approach)

  • This paper is to explore a new planning paradigm for urban landscape-not a new paradigm for urban landscape planning- in the light of environmental aesthetics. This is an endeavor to construct an alternative to the philosophical absence in the landscape profession. The landscape has been conceived of visual -oriented urban scene, and this notion is one of consequences of subject-object dualism in Western modernity project. In contrast with this convention, the authors consider urban landscape as the aesthetic field in which an experience of urban landscape actually works in human ordinary life and experience. To acquire an aestetic experience in this aesthetic field, we need to replace the doctrine of disinterestedness with engagement and contemplation with participation. This concept of participatory engagement with landscape can be translated in specific and concrete ways into urban landscape planning, replacing the traditional panoramic landscape with engaged landscape. The authors approach the urban landscape from the vantage point of an aesthetics of engagement by developing the four environmental situations : the sailing ship, the circus, the cathedral, and the sunset. They may serve as useful guides in cultivating and beautiful urban landscape to replace the forces of vulgarity and monotony that depress the modern city. 고도(古都) 경주의 역사문화환경지구 내 상업가로경관 디자인가이드라인에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Commercial Streetscape Design Guideline of the Historic and Cultural Environmental Districts in Ancient Capital Gyeongju)

  • The objective of this study is to provide a townscape design guideline that harmonized with a historic landscape via condition investigation and landscape analysis of the cultural /commercial environment district where an improvement is a necessity. The followings are the conclusions: 1.To enhance the identity of Gyeongju, should pursue diversity in unity by making the image of architectural landscape a similar peculiarity. 2.The central commercial district where the tradition is valued and contemporary figures meet the tradition needs a landscape formation by CONTEXT. 3.Since a characteristic of the target area is a regional commercial center, to reduce its congestion, reforming the area to simple environment is required. 4.Induce buildings located on the streets with cultural properties to have Korean traditional tiled roof in order to fit in with their surroundings. 5.Make it a rule to partition a wall into tripartition, the wall surface exposed should be the same finishing materials. 6.Consider the visual aspect of pedestrians and a building's width, the recommendable height of the facade should be 3~3.6m. 7.For the design archetype of cornice, four traditional types based on Korean traditional eaves are suggested. 8.The design of signboards should break existing square-shapes, and seek a design to take advantage of icons that historicity and traditionalist of the city are expressed.

The Innovative Application of Surface Texture in Fashion and Textile Design

  • This study focuses on 'texture' as one of the most important fashion and textile design elements; in addition, it proposes various applications of it. Surface texture is indispensable in fashion and textile design that also factors heavily into innovative creations. Along with technological advances in the fashion industry, surface texture has derived many new and attractive features that provide more opportunities for designers to show various design concepts. Rather than the surface quality of fabrics, surface texture in fashion design creates its identity through a manipulation of materials- an application that tends to be primarily for visual effects without being restricted to decorative purposes. The status and significance of surface texture in various creative fields is explored and the evolution of surface texture is traced by analyzing a number of fashion design cases with representative surface textures. The latest feature of surface texture in fashion and textile design is identified to establish a new classification of surface texture with five groups and technical suggestions. This study provides a theoretical basis for this field of study and a new framework that can be employed in the development of surface textures that use innovative techniques as well as the future application of newly-developed textures.

의류기업의 경험제공수단에 따른 소비자의 브랜드 경험유형이 브랜드 충성도에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Consumer Experience Related to Experience Providers of Apparel Companies on Brand Loyalty)

  • This study was aimed at finding the effects of consumer experience related to experience providers of apparel companies on brand loyalty. The participants of this study included experienced SPA fashion brand shopping female consumers who are between the ages of 20 to 50 residing in Seoul. A total of 285 questionnaires were used for the survey of this study. Methods of data analysis included. The result of this study revealed the 9 factors of experience providers in apparel companies: co-branding, advertising, visual/verbal identity & signage, design & quality, physical environment, people, emotional environment, websites, and sales promotion. The 5 factors of consumer experiences were behavioral experience, relational experience, affective experience, intellectual experience, and sensory experience. The experience providers of the apparel company had a significant impact on consumer experience of SPA, such as behavioral experience, sensory experience, affective experience, intellectual experience and relational experience. Of all, consumer experience of SPA as well as behavioral, sensory and affective experiences had a positive impact on brand loyalty. In conclusion, experience providers, at the disposal of the apparel company, are tactical implementation components for creating consumer experience. Therefore, the marketing strategy of apparel companies should be focused on eliciting affirmative responses from consumers.

  • 본고는 컴퓨터 게임 디자인의 학문적 연구를 위한 초기적 시론을 목적으로 한다. 수용자의 행동, 반응의 영역과 메시지의 소통의 디자인까지를 포괄하는 확장된 의미의 커뮤니케이션 디자인론의 설정을 통해 컴퓨터 게임 디자인을 새로운 커뮤니케이션 현상의 디자인으로 이해할 수 있다. 컴퓨터 게임의 커뮤니케이션으로서의 특징은 첫째, 기록과 그것의 단순한 재현으로서의 커뮤니케이션이 아니라 수용자의 창조적 재현이 중요한 매체이다. 둘째, 그 제작과정이 프로그램 공학과 멀티미디어 디자인의 종합적인 요소가 통합된 다층적인 것이다. 여기에 덧붙여 마크 포스터(Mark Poster)꼭 뉴 미디어 이론을 원용할 때 정보 시뮬레이션으로서 컴퓨터게임의 뉴 미디어적인 특성을 확인하게 된다. 이러한 이해는 앞으로의 컴퓨터 게임의 디자인은 단순한 기술구현과 시각적 형상의 창조를 넘어서 사물과 세계를 경험하는 방식의 창조성과 주체성을 연습하는 훈련의 장을 디자인하는 것으로 그 방향을 추구해야 하리라고 생각된다.

  • The purpose of this paper is to study the artistic characteristics of light and adjustment in space, and how meaningful this integral phenomenon is to human beings , whin a space is transformed into a dynamic subject by light. When we create a very unique space we need to adjust light in all environments and must recognize the substance of light in all human spaces. The study of interior design is dependant on the existence of these lights in space. Light plays a very integral role in life having great contingency in the artistic characteristics represented in space. Light is a non-materialistic substance. However, when this substance is realized as a materialistic , light has a very visual effect, having a pleasing and satisfying effect on humans. The artistic characteristic of light in interior space are represented through elements of tranquility , direction . recognition, symbolism , and design. Light has a limitless amount of potential for giving humans boundless possibilities in space and expression . By studying psychological and physical aspects of the flow of light we are able to enjoy its fruitful benefits in the space of interior architectural design.
