유도된 상호작용성을 통한 가상환경에서의 현실감 제고 (Visual Information for Inducing Interactivity and Presence)

  • 가상환경에서의 실재감을 증대시키는 방법 중에 하나는 상호작용을 이용하는 방법이다. 즉, 사용자가 가상환경에 변화를 줄 수 있게 하여, 사용자와 가상환경 사이의 결속감을 통해, 사용자가 가상환경 속에 있는 듯한 느낌을 주는 것이다. 그러나, Architectural Walkthrough 혹은 Navigation 시스템은 기능적으로 가상객체와에 affordance 와 그 밖의 interactivity cue를 적용하여 사용자로 하여금 시각적으로만 상호작용감을 유발하게 하여, 사용자의 실재감을 높이기 위한 방법에 대한 것이다. 두 개의 가상환경에 대하여 아무런 visual cue가 없는 경우, 텍스트를 이용한 직접 표현 방법, 객체가 simulation 된 trace 그리고 affordance cue 등 총 4가지 방법들, 즉 총 8가지 실험 조합에서 사용자가 느끼는 상호작용성과 실재감을 측정하였는데 interactivity유도를 위한 간접적인 visual cue가 쓰였을 경우 통계적으로 유의하게 상호작용성 및 실재감이 증대하는 결과를 보여주었다. 이는 적은 모델링만의 노력으로, 실제 인터액션에 대한 구현 없이 가상환경에서 어느 정도의 실재감을 높일 수 있는 방법을 제시하고 있다.

평형감각 측정기술의 개발 (Development for a method of measurement in equilibrium sense)

  • The study was performed to evaluate the sense of equilibrium by means of rotary chair system in middle school girls with dance learning. Control of equilibrium, which is the most important function in dancing, is maintained by vestibular, visual, and proprioceptive inputs. Experimental groups were divided into trained group with dance (experimental group, 13~14 ys, n=15) and untrained group (control group, 13~14 ys, n=15). experimental group was trained by programmed dancing for 12 weeks, 45 min/day and 5 day/week. Gain of eye movement was measured for vestibulocular reflex (VOR), visual vestibular stimulation (VVOR), optokinetic stimulation(OKN), and visual fixation (VFX). The gain of eye movement at higher than 0.08 hz was significant decrease in experimental group, and VVOR showed the similar fashion to VOR. The gain in OKN and VFX was not significant difference between experimental and control groups. These results suggest that programmed training of dancing improves control of balance by adaptation of the vestibular function, and rotary chair system would be useful to evaluate the sense of equilibrium ability.

가상활경에서의 Visual Reality에 대한 평가 (An Evaluation of Visual Reality in Virtual Environment)

  • 본 연구는 3D Visual and Auditory Environment Generator(VAEG)에 의해 표현되는 가상환경에서 시각적 현실감의 정도를 평가하고자 하는데 그 목적이 있다. VAEG는 인간의 감성과 일치하는 제품을 설계할 수 있는 prototyping simulator의 일부이다. 계층적인 가상환경을 구성하는 요소로써 size, length, distance 세가지 요소를 선정하여, estimating size/distance, sketching map, 그리고 searching objects와 같은 다양한 방법을 통해 가상환경과 실제환경에서의 시각적인 현실감 차이를 비교하고자 하였다. 실험은 피험자들이 가상환경을 항해하고, 과제를 수행한 후에 설문에 응답하도록 하는 방식으로 진행되었으며, sketched map과 설문서 간의 상관관계를 통해 가상현실시스템의 현실감을 향상시킬 수 있는 보완요소들을 추출할 수 있도록 설계되었다.

  • This study proposed the Knowledge Base Building method reflecting the user's preferences based on the fuzzy set theory to develop information contents which support pedestrian's navigation. This research evaluated subject's preferences on the commercial spaces set to the hypothetical destination. Also it surveyed the causal relationship between the visual characteristics and the emotional characteristics to propose the methods of Navigation Knowledge Base (NKB). The NKB was composed by three elements; 1.the correlation model between emotional characteristics, 2.the causal relationship between visual characteristics and emotional characteristics, 3.the transformation model between visual characteristics and the physical characteristics.

Visual Perception of Garment Surface Appearance

  • This paper concerns with the relationship between the visual perception of the degree of pucker or wrinkles of garment surfaces and the geometrical parameters of surfaces. In this study, four potentially relevant parameters of the surface profile are considered, namely, the variance ($\sigma$$^2$), the cutting frequency (F$\_$c/), the effective disparity curvature (D$\_$ce/) (Defined as the average disparity curvature of the wrinkled surface over the eyeball distance of the observer) and the frequency component of the disparity curvature ( D$\_$cf/). Based on the experiments using garment seams having varying degree of pucker (i.e. the wrinkles along a seam line), it was found that, while the logarithm of each of these four parameters has a strong linear relationship with the visually perceived degree of wrinkles, following the Web-Fetchner Law, the effective disparity curvature ( D$\_$ce/) and the frequency component of the disparity curvature (D$\_$cf/) appeared to have stronger relationships with the visual perception. This finding is in agreement with the suggestion by Rogers '||'&'||' Cagenello that human visual system may compute the disparity curvature in discriminating curved surfaces. It also suggested an objective method of measuring the degree of surface wrinkles.

  • The purpose of this study was to develop a sinusoidal rotatory chair systim for evaluating the vestibular function in patients suffered from vertigo with vestibualr disorders. The sinusoidal rotatory chair system is composed of a rotatory chair systim and softwares. Maximum velocity of the rotatiry chair was upto 60 degree per second and frequency range was 0.01 to 0.64 Hz. To evaluate the vestibular function in vertigo patients, vestibuloocular reflex was measured by sinusoidal rotation of the whole body about vertical axis in the darkness, and optokinetic nystagmus, visual vestibuloocular reflex , and visual supression test were also performed. Eye movement was measured by means of a electronystgmograph amplifier through Ag-AgCI surface electrodes. Gain, phase, and symmetry were obtained from analysis of the eye movement ineuced by vestibular or visual stimulation. In healthy adults, sinusoidal rotation of the shole body produced nystagmus, of which gain was directly proportional to the velocity of stimulation. The gain of visual vestibuloocular reflex or optokinetic nystagmus, and it was suppressed markedly by visual suppression test. These results suggest that the sinusoieal rotatory chair systim which was developed by this study can evaluate the vestibular function quantitatively, also this system is very useful to diagnose and to dstimate the vestibualr function during recovery from vertigo

  • The purpose of our study is to clarify about the influence that the visual information gives to the brain activities when pressure exerted the abdomen by waist belts. The visual information means that the some different visual information is inputted it, and the brain activity is evaluated by Electroencephalogram(EEG) measurements. At the same time, we carried out the sensory tests and verified about the relations between the psychological stress and the brain activities. There was a difference in change in the power of the $alpha$ wave with the eyes opened between man and woman. from the result of the sensory test, in the case of under the condition in the darkness with the eyes opened, there was no change in the a wave with before the pressure and after the pressure. In the other cases, $alpha$ wave changed in the same way with before the pressure and after the pressure. In the case of the visible and the invisible in pressure place, $alpha$ wave changed in the same way with before the pressure and after the pressure, but there was a difference in value. From the above, it isn't recognized that the visual information is influencing a pressure sense but some influences are given to it to the brain activities.

시각 감성에 영향을 주는 동영상 화질변수에 관한 연구 (The Research on video quality affected to visual emotion)

  • 본 연구에서는 동영상 자극이 제시되었을 때 시각적으로 느껴지는 감성을 자율신경계 반응, 동공반응 그리고 주관 설문으로 평가하였다. 20~27세 사이의 대학생 남녀 20명이 실험에 참여 하였고 뉴스, 다큐멘터리1, 다큐멘터리2, 사랑, 스포츠 그리고 전쟁의 6가지 장르의 동영상에서 Gamma, Hue, Lightness 그리고 Saturation의 4가지 화질변수가 변경된 영상을 시각자극으로 제시하였다. 장르를 다르게 한 실험이 총 6회 진행되었으며 장르별로 기본영상 1개와 화질변수가 변경된 영상 16개가 무작위 순서로 제시되었다. 1회 실험이 진행되는 약 14분 동안 PPG, SKT 그리고 GSR 센서를 착용하여 생리 반응을 측정하였고 눈 영상을 기록하여 동공 반응을 측정하였다. 시각자극에 대한 주관적 평가를 위해 1~7점 척도의 불쾌도, 긴장도 그리고 피로도 항목의 설문을 실시하였다. 생리반응, 동공반응 그리고 주관설문 결과를 화질변수 별로 나누고 일원배치 분산분석을 실시하여 차이가 있는지를 확인하였다. 그 결과 시각 감성이 어떤 화질변수에 의해 유발되는지 확인할 수 있었다.

Emotion Recognition of Low Resource (Sindhi) Language Using Machine Learning

  • One of the most active areas of research in the field of affective computing and signal processing is emotion recognition. This paper proposes emotion recognition of low-resource (Sindhi) language. This work's uniqueness is that it examines the emotions of languages for which there is currently no publicly accessible dataset. The proposed effort has provided a dataset named MAVDESS (Mehran Audio-Visual Dataset Mehran Audio-Visual Database of Emotional Speech in Sindhi) for the academic community of a significant Sindhi language that is mainly spoken in Pakistan; however, no generic data for such languages is accessible in machine learning except few. Furthermore, the analysis of various emotions of Sindhi language in MAVDESS has been carried out to annotate the emotions using line features such as pitch, volume, and base, as well as toolkits such as OpenSmile, Scikit-Learn, and some important classification schemes such as LR, SVC, DT, and KNN, which will be further classified and computed to the machine via Python language for training a machine.
