  • 위성통신 웹 서비스는 선박의 환경에서 문제되는 부분이 있다. 위성통신의 특성상 요금이 비싸고 통신속도가 느려서 필요한 업무 이외에는 개인적으로 사용되고 있지 않다. 그리고, 통신 요금은 사용한 데이터 량으로 과금이 되는 방식이다. 따라서, 일반적인 웹 브라우징 서비스를 사용할 때 고화질의 이미지, 동영상 등 웹 상의 콘텐츠로 많은 통신 요금을 지불해야 하는 문제가 있다. 이를 해결하기 위해 웹 서비스를 처리하는데 있어 차단, 압축기능을 추가한다면 선박에서 일반적인 웹 브라우징 서비스처럼 고화질의 이미지, 동영상 등의 콘텐츠를 서비스를 지원하기 어렵지만 차단, 압축기능의 효과로 통신비용을 기존의 웹 브라우징 서비스를 사용할 때 보다 줄일 수 있다.

  • In this paper, we suggest a new spatial information system called video GIS where video is used for spatial data construction and is integrated with map. We develop a prototype system of video GIS and apply it to roadside facility management. The main functions supported by the suggested system are data collection, coordinate calculation and conversion, data construction, analysis, searching, and browsing. The stereo images and corresponding position data are collected by a vehicle named 4S-Van that has GPS, IMU, and cameras. The 3-D coordinates of the objects in the images, such as road sign, signal lamp, and building, can be calculated and constructed from the collected data. The spatial objects are displayed on both image and map, and can be searched and browsed, which enables visual and realistic browsing and management of spatial objects. Compared to conventional field survey used in roadside facility management, the method enables faster, easier, and more efficient construction of spatial data. The suggested video GIS can be applied not only to roadside facility management but also to many similar projects of central or local governments that are related to GIS.

A Study of Efficient LCD Brightness Control Technique in the Mobile Embedded System (모바일 제품의 효율적인 LCD 밝기 조절 기법에 관한 연구)

  • There are a lot of multimedia functions getting included in mobile devices recently, not only simple audio but visual functions as well, such as video playing, game and web browsing. Such the visual multimedia functions brought the strong requirement for much bigger LCD Display and high resolution. And the brightness of LCD is also one of major requirements and it is required to be more bright. However, LCD brightness is limited to increase because of power consumption. It occupies nearly 30% of the whole system power. This thesis suggests an effective and simple method of adjusting the LCD backlight brightness, considering a characteristic of battery and user pattern.

  • During recent years, a new framework, which aims to bring a unified and global approach in indexing, browsing and querying various digital multimedia data such as audio, video and image has been developed. This new system partitions each media stream into smaller units based on actual physical events. These physical events within oath media stream can then be effectively indexed for retrieval. In this paper, we present a new approach that exploits audio, image and video features to segment and analyze the audio-visual data. Integration of audio and visual analysis can overcome the weakness of previous approach that was based on the image or video analysis only. We Implement a web-based multi media data retrieval system called XCRAB and report on its experiment result.

A Generation Method of Spatially Encoded Video Data for Geographic Information Systems

  • In this paper, we present a method for generating and providing spatially encoded video data that can be effectively used by GIS applications. We collect the video data by a mobile mapping system called 4S-Van that is equipped by GPS, INS, CCD camera, and DVR system. The information about spatial object appearing in video, such as occupied region in each frame, attribute value, and geo-coordinate, are generated and encoded. We suggest methods that can generate such data for each frame in semi-automatic manner. We adopt standard MPEG-7 metadata format for representation of the spatially encoded video data to be generally used by GIS application. The spatial and attribute information encoded to each video frame can make visual browsing between map and video possible. The generated video data can be provided and applied to various GIS applications where location and visual data are both important.

Improved Tag Selection for Tag-cloud using the Dynamic Characteristics of Tag Co-occurrence (태그 동시 출현의 동적인 특징을 이용한 개선된 태그 클라우드의 태그 선택 방법)

  • Tagging system is the system that allows internet users to assign new meta-data which is called tag to article, photo, video and etc. for facilitating searching and browsing of web contents. Tag cloud, a visual interface is widely used for browsing tag space. Tag cloud selects the tags with the highest frequency and presents them alphabetically with font size reflecting their popularity. However the conventional tag selection method includes known weaknesses. So, we propose a novel tag selection method Freshness, which helps to find fresh web contents. Freshness is the mean value of Kullback-Leibler divergences between each consecutive change of tag co-occurrence probability distribution. We collected tag data from three web sites, Allblog, Eolin and Technorati and constructed the system, 'Fresh Tag Cloud' which collects tag data and creates our tag cloud. Comparing the experimental results between Fresh Tag Cloud and the conventional one with data from Allblog, our one shows 87.5% less overlapping average, which means Fresh Tag Cloud outperforms the conventional tag cloud.

  • This research is to analyze the public cases of information facilities in terms of central circulations in multi level volumes such as atrium or court which provide visual intervention between different spaces and physical connections such as bridges. Hunt Library design balances the understood pre-existing needs with the University's emerging needs to create a forward-thinking learning environment. While clearly a contemporary structure within a traditional context of the NCSU campus, the Hunt Library provides a positive platform for influencing its surroundings. Both technical and programmatic innovations are celebrated as part of the learning experience and provide a versatile and stimulating environment for students. Public library as open spaces connecting to an interactive social domain over communities can provide variety of learning environments, or technology based labs. There are many cases of the public information spaces with dynamic networks where participants can play their roles in physical space as well as in the intellectual stimulation. In the research, new public projects provide typologies of information spaces with user oriented media. The research is to address a creative transition between the reading space and the experimental links of the integration of state-of-the-art technology is highly visible in the building's design. The user-friendly browsing system that replaces the traditional browsing with the virtual shelves classified and archived by their form, is to reduce the storage space of the public library and it is to allow more space for collaborative learning. In addition to the intelligent robot of information storages, innovative features is the large-scale visualization space that supports team experiments to carry out collaborative online works and therefore the public library's various programs is to provide visitors with more efficient participatory environment.

  • This study presents a comprehensive solution to the collection management, which is based on the model for Cultural Objects (CCO). The developed system manages and spreads the collections that are safeguarded in museums and galleries more easily by using IT. In particular, we present our approach for a non-structured search and recovery of the objects based on the annotation of artwork images. In this methodology, we have introduced a faceted search used as a framework for multi-classification and for exploring/browsing complex information bases in a guided, yet unconstrained way, through a visual interface.

  • 디지털 콘텐츠의 영역을 확장하여 발달된 기술을 반영한 다양한 디지털 콘텐츠 기술이 발달하고 있다. 가상현실, 증강현실, 컴퓨터그래픽, 홀로그램, 오감 인터랙션, 지능형 스마트 미디어 유통기술이 그것인데 이 중 지능형 스마트 미디어 유통기술이란 IoT, 클라우드, 빅데이터 기반 개인 맞춤형 콘텐츠 유통기술, 영상정보를 검색하여 방송, 모바일 등 연관콘텐츠를 제공하는 유통기술(Visual Browsing) 등을 말한다. 이 논문에서는 디지털 콘텐츠 중 지능형 스마트 미디어 유통기술을 안전하게 개발하고 발전시키기 위하여 블록체인 방법을 활용한 스마트 미디어 유통기술에 대하여 연구하였다. 블록체인 기반 기술을 통하여 스마트 미디어 유통 시 해킹으로부터 데이터 원본 보호의 안전함을 제공하고 유통 시 필요한 저작권관리 및 유통 기록을 위 변조 없이 관리할 수 있다.
