The purpose of this paper is to present essential numerical data of FCV(Flow rate Control Valve) which is used in a projectile ejection system for a underwater vehicle. A commercial CFD code is applied to analyze the 3 dimensional viscous compressible flow field within the FCV as four cases of opening rate, 25, 50, 75, and $100\%$. The flow coefficient of each cases are mainly calculated. And other characteristics such as the location of shock wave and total temperature distribution are also determined.

The time implicit point SGS scheme is applied to compute hypersonic viscous flows in thermochemical nonequilibrium. The performance of the point SGS scheme is then compared with those of the line SGS and the LU-SGS schemes. Comparison of convergence histories with the effect of multiple forward and backward sweeps are made for the flow over a 2D cylinder experimentally studied by Hornung and the flow over a hemisphere at conditions corresponding to the peak heating condition during the reentry flight of an SSTO vehicle. Results indicate that the point SGS scheme with multiple sweeps is as robust and efficient as the line SGS scheme. For the point SGS and the LU-SGS scheme, the rate of improvement in convergence is largest with two sweep cycles. However, for the line SGS scheme, it is found that more than one sweep cycle deteriorates the convergence rate.

In this study, vibration properties of seat and human body are analyzed through test and numerical analysis methods by taking into account the viscoelastic characteristics of polyurethane foam as seat material which is applied for vehicle. These viscoelastic characteristics which show nonlinear and quasi-static behavior are obtained by compression test. In addition, the viscous elastic property of polyurethane foam is modelled mathematically by using convolution integral and nonlinear stiffness model. In order to analyze the performance on ride comfort of seat, vertical vibration model is established by using dynamic model of seat and vertical vibration model of human body at ISO5982, and so the related motion equations are derived. A numerical analysis simulation is applied by using the nonlinear motion equation with Runge-Kutta integral method. The dynamic responses of seat and human body on the input of vibration acceleration measured at the floor of the railway vehicle are examined. The variation of the index value at ride comfort on seat design parameters is analyzed and the methodology on seat design is suggested.
In this paper, the supersonic flows around space launch vehicles have been numerically simulated by using a 3-D RANS flow solver. The focus of the study was made for investigating plume-induced flow separation(PIFS). For this purpose, a vertex-centered finite-volume method was utilized in conjunction with 2nd-order Roe's FDS to discretize the inviscid fluxes. The viscous fluxes were computed based on central differencing. The Spalart-Allmaras model was employed for the closure of turbulence. The Gauss-Seidel iteration was used for time integration. To validate the flow solver, calculation was made for the 0.04 scale model of the Saturn-5 launch vehicle at the supersonic flow condition without exhaust plume, and the predicted results were compared with the experimental data. Good agreements were obtained between the present results and the experiment for the surface pressure coefficient and the Mach number distribution inside the boundary layer. Additional calculations were made for the real scale of the Saturn-5 configuration with exhaust plume. The flow characteristics were analyzed, and the PIFS distances were validated by comparing with the flight data. The KSLV-1 is also simulated at the several altitude conditions. In case of the KSLV-1, PIFS was not observed at all conditions, and it is expected that PIFS is affected by the nozzle position.

The limited slip differential(LSD) is a device which enables the driving force to be transmitted from one slipping wheel to another wheel in such case that the car is stuck in clay or snow. When the unwanted slipping occurs on one wheel, the LSD temporarily restraints the differential motion to transmit the driving force in the other wheel. So far, many types of LSD were developed such as mechanical lock type, disk clutch type, viscous coupling type, torsion type and multiple clutch type. However these types of LSD is too complicated and expensive, so it is used only for 4WD outdoor vehicles, military vehicles, and a portion of deluxe car. So, many studies has been devoted to improve new types of LSD to cover those demerits of existing LSDs that the hydraulic LSD is developed as arepresentative result of that. The hydraulic LSD which uses the principle of gear pump is packed with viscous oil in tight container. When a slip occurs on one wheel, the hydraulic LSD generates torque caused by high oil pressure in the container. This study has been devoted to suggest an improved hydraulic LSD. In order to achieve it, we designed a new type of hydraulic LSD, produced it and did a rig test with it on real vehicle. From the rig test, it has been confirmed that the new type of hydraulic LSD can be directly applied to exiting vehicles without changing the design criteria
This paper presents results of dynamic analysis for a bridge in intersection part of two tunnels subjected to moving vehicle load. Since such a bridge system is very unusual due to the fact that it is located in tunnel, the dynamic characteristics of the structure can not be assumed as conventional one. The structure investigated in this study it a reinforced concrete bridge in the intersection part of Namsan Tunnel-1 and Tunnel-2 in Seoul. It is supported by temporary steel structure which shall be constructed during the period of replacing lining in Tunnel-2. Dynamic analysis was carried out for the system using a finite element model constructed by general purpose FE program SAP2000. For this purpose, the structure, lining of tunnels, and surrounding rock were represented by finite elements, while the rock region it truncated and on its outer boundary viscous dampers were placed to simulate radiation of elastic waves generated tunnels. Several types of vehicle with various driving velocities were considered in this analysis. The FE model including vehicle loadings was verified by comparing calculated peak particle velocity with the measured one. From the analysis, the impart factor for the bridge was estimated as 0.21, which indicates that the use of upper bound for the impact factor in design code is reasonable for this kind of bridge system.

The numerical solutions of unsteady hydromagnetic natural convection Couette flow of a viscous, incompressible and electrically conducting fluid between the two vertical parallel plates in the presence of thermal radiation, thermal diffusion and diffusion thermo are obtained here. The fundamental dimensionless governing coupled linear partial differential equations for impulsive movement and uniformly accelerated movement of the plate were solved by an efficient Finite Element Method. Computations were performed for a wide range of the governing flow parameters, viz., Thermal diffusion (Soret) and Diffusion thermo (Dufour) parameters, Magnetic field parameter, Prandtl number, Thermal radiation and Schmidt number. The effects of these flow parameters on the velocity (u), temperature (${\theta}$) and Concentration (${\phi}$) are shown graphically. Also the effects of these pertinent parameters on the skin-friction, the rate of heat and mass transfer are obtained and discussed numerically through tabular forms. These are in good agreement with earlier reported studies. Analysis indicates that the fluid velocity is an increasing function of Grashof numbers for heat and mass transfer, Soret and Dufour numbers whereas the Magnetic parameter, Thermal radiation parameter, Prandtl number and Schmidt number lead to reduction of the velocity profiles. Also, it is noticed that the rate of heat transfer coefficient and temperature profiles increase with decrease in the thermal radiation parameter and Prandtl number, whereas the reverse effect is observed with increase of Dufour number. Further, the concentration profiles increase with increase in the Soret number whereas reverse effect is seen by increasing the values of the Schmidt number.
Turbulent flow analysis is conducted around the multi-stage launch vehicle including base region and detachment motion of strap-on boosters due to resultant aerodynamic forces and gravity is simulated. Aerodynamic solution procedure is coupled with rigid body dynamics for the prediction of separation behavior. An overset mesh technique is adopted to achieve maximum efficiency in simulating relative motion of bodies and various turbulence models are implemented on the flow solver to predict the aerodynamic forces accurately. At first, some preliminary studies are conducted to show the importance of base flow for the exact prediction of detachment motion and to find the most suitable turbulence model for the simulation of launch vehicle configurations. And then, developed solver is applied to the simulation of KSR-III, a three-stage sounding rocket researched in Korea. From the analyses, after-body flow field strongly affects the separation motions of strap-on boosters. Negative pitching moment at initial stage is gradually recovered and a strap-on finally results in a safe separation, while fore-body analysis shows collision phenomena between core rocket and booster. And a slight variation of motion is observed from the comparison between inviscid and turbulent analyses. Change of separation trajectory based on viscous effects is just a few percent and therefore, inviscid analysis is sufficient for the simulation of separation motion if the study is focused only on the movement of strap-ons.

It is necessary to estimate manoeuvring characteristics of submerged bodies at the design stage in order to ensure the safe operations. In this study, added mass coefficients in the mathematical model of submerged bodies are estimated by captive model tests and numerical calculations. Two kinds of models, MARIN 'BB2'submarine model and AUV (Autonomous unmanned vehicle) model are utilized in the forced oscillation tests. Compared to BB2 submarine, AUV with cylindrical type hull form shows relatively small added masses in roll, pitch, and yaw directions. Next, numerical calculations based on potential theory are performed under the assumption that viscous effects on inertia forces are negligible. Added masses obtained by numerical calculations are in good agreements with forced oscillation test results. And if slow manoeuvres of submerged bodies are presumed, some of velocity coupled terms can be approximated by combinations of added mass coefficients.
