  • New design method has been required for web designers to grasp the proper emotion, impression, and feeling of a web site and reflect these elements in web design. It is certain that such a new methodology can be a useful design tool, although web designers have only relied on their intuition and experience to induce users to perceive specific emotion of web sites. In this study, Kansei Engineering Type Ⅰ (Nagamachi, 2002 and Park, 2000) method was applied to develop the methodology. One hundred thirty six web sites believed to convey emotions effectively were first selected by recommendation of professional web designers and twenty two web sites were finally chosen and evaluated using questionnaire. The web sites were then objectively and quantitatively assessed by measuring the degree of utilization of the design elements, balance, overall density, and homogeneity. We examined the cause-and-effect between the results of emotional and quantitative analysis by multiple regression and introduced the design methodology based on the examination. The research method and procedures applied to this study would be applicable to design studies related to the emotional inducement.

  • In this paper, we propose digital exhibition contents for the aquarium, especially 'Gyeongpo Lagoon Ecological Museum'. We try to plan appropriate media contents that can be mixed with the aquarium storytelling. The aquarium must have special spaces that are not related with an exhibition directly but are necessary for survival of fishes such as a water circulation room. We design the special spaces using media contents and let visitors feel that the whole aquarium is in the ocean. First of all, we investigate the aquarium currently under construction. And then, we propose the appreciate media platforms and plan individual content. We suggest 3 types of media platforms, 3D water projection, interactive games utilizing Kinect, and a fog screen. Moreover, we produce 2D drawing concepts, 3D modeling images, and virtual exhibitions in virtual reality for the representation of the location in which those platforms are installed and the media contents we plan. The pre-visualization is helpful for the media platform construction and is used as a rough sketch to producing an animation shown in the exhibition.

  • This study focuses on the Mise-en-abyme theories of Lucien $D{\ddot{a}}llenbach$, and presents research methodology to analyze the modern cinema costume in a new view. Inherent aesthetic values of the costume code shown in the film are as follows. First, esthetics value shown is the analogic code through the maximization of factual realism by directing target. Mise-en-abyme placed in this film plays the role of costume codes, and highlights the subject by presenting specifically targeted realistic icons to maximize the realism of the movie. Second, Mise-en-abyme is deployed to the explicit text through costumes code is placed as Displaced code arrangements. In other words, each of the characters is a signifier. Symbolizing a historical era is the device that represents a self-reflective signifier. Third, paradoxically reflected by the overlapped expansion of virtual reality and the self-referential characteristics and are subject to reflect the thinking of the author. Costumes code placed in Mise-en-abyme is expressed in costumes positioned to maximize the realism in the film as described above, and implies narratives and self-reflective mediating tools that symbolism can be seen that the paradoxical metaphor for the reality and the future. In addition, through the metaphor of visual narrative is allegorical representation Mise-en-abyme with ambiguity, and it is a concrete text that can be realized in a variety of creative storytelling methods and image delivery methods of modern fashion. This study confirmed that this costumes to take the point of view of emotional $Mise-en-sc{\grave{e}}ne$ in the process of completing the film's themes and cinematic devices by identifying the roles and aesthetic value of code costumes as the core subjects that make up the narrative of the film.

The characteristics of morphing in fine art, media, and design area were categorized as reversible metamorphosis, sequential dissolve and blurring of interpolation boundaries. The results were as follow in fashion design. Reversible metamorphosis showed an automatic silhouette transformation by remote control, the metamorphosis of folding method by wearer's own movements and the automatic silhouette transformation by the air pressurizing method. It represented the thoughts of omnipotence as in the feeling of the magical world, the human desire for control in life, the rationalization of magical thinking and imaginative power, the creation of a new dress space and the extension of dress function. Sequential dissolve showed juxtaposition in the same area by the time order, juxtaposition in virtual space through the computer graphics, the series of fashion photography by steel cut of the dress making process and the blending of digital film and fashion design. It represented the approach for the storytelling of fashion show, implication of creative fashion design process and the creation of organic forms and the feeling of fantasy through artificial technology. The blurring of interpolation boundary showed an overlay of different fabrics with transparent boundaries, an overlay of different patterns with transparent boundaries and the blending of fabrics through the visual mixing of color. It represented the obfuscation of the object, the connotation of the space order, the connotation of the extensive and various meanings and the integrative property of objects.

  • In regard to media contents of digital heritage reconstruction, they are actively produced in museums, art galleries and special exhibitions. However, there is no concrete guideline for the productions and the pipelines are not systematic either. This makes the process ineffective regarding time and cost. Media contents production of digital heritage reconstruction might seem similar to film or documentary production, but it is important to construct its specific pipeline based on its specific purpose. The digital Heritage group in research center for culture technology of KAIST produced media contents which digitally reconstructed various heritages such as Persepolis, Iranian remains, with National museum of Korea, Sukgulam, and Hue, an ancient city in Vietnam, with Cultural heritage administration of Korea. From these experiences and case studies, this paper will present a pipeline model for efficient production.

  • This study is intended to compare and analyze the figurative characteristics of game characters focusing on the MMO shooting game 'Battle Ground' and the MOVA game 'League of Legends,' which currently have the largest number of users in Korea, in order to assess how much effect the figurative shape of game characters has on the immersion of players. As a result, the shape of characters from MOVA or MMORPG games with storytelling as an important factor was revealed to have a greater effect on the immersion degree of players than that of the characters from fast-paced shooting games. In particular, it was found that in games where the level of each character is raised as items are added, the height of most characters is the same as their own eight or nine heads, which is longer than ordinary people.

  • Most of the metaverse service is a gamification type of metaverse solution composed by placing 3D objects on a 360 panoramic world base. However, the metaverse webtoon service is lacking in implementation and research. In this study, a method for realizing a 2D flat image form in a 3D space and a realistic 360-degree panoramic webtoon metaverse service were studied. The research process consisted of basic storytelling and design work for webtoon production, panoramic image creation to convert the produced image into 360-degree form, and content creation process for viewing 360-degree directions. Finally, we implemented shading and material work with game engine tools so that you can enjoy virtual reality-based webtoons. The webtoon-based metaverse study studied the process of creating a 360-degree panoramic webtoon from content that can only be viewed in 2D format. Accordingly, it is thought that webtoons will also be presented as a standard for the production and implementation method for the metaverse service.
