  • As the importance of HCI(Human-Computer Interface) caused by dramatically developed computer technology is getting high, the requirement for the design of human friendly systems is also getting high. First of all, the personality and Emotional factor should be considered for implementing more human friendly systems. Many studies on Knowledge, Emotion and personality have been made, but the combined methods connecting these three factors is not so many investigated yet. It is known that memorizing process includes not only knowledge but also the emotion and the emotion state has much effects on the process of reasoning and decision making step. Accordingly, for implementing more human friendly efficient sophisticated intelligent system, the system considering these three factors should be modeled and designed. In this paper, knowledge-emotion reaction model was designed. Five types are defined for representing the personality and emotion reaction mechanism calculating emotion vector based on the extracted Thought threads by Type matching selection was proposed. This system is applied to the virtual memory and its emotional reactions are simulated.

  • To design a submerged floating railway that is safe against underwater explosions, railway behavior must be investigated and clarified. In this paper, shock waves and impulse pressures generated by a charge away from the submerged floating railway are expressed using experimental formulas. The submerged floating railway tethered by mooring lines is modeled as a simply supported beam with elastic springs. Finite element analysis for the beam model subjected to impulse loading is conducted so that the response of the submerged floating railway can be investigated. For design purposes, a simplified analysis method combined with dynamic load factor is proposed for the same model. Maximum deformation and internal forces are calculated and compared with the time dependent analysis results. It is shown that the simplified analysis results show good agreement.

  • As the vehicle electronic control technology quickly grows and becomes more sophisticated, a more efficient means than the traditional in-vehicle driving test is required for the design, testing, and tuning of electronic control units (ECU). For this purpose, the hardware-in-the-loop simulation (HILS) scheme is very promising, since significant portions of actual driving test procedures can be replaced by HIL simulation. The HILS incorporates hardware components in the numerical simulation environment, and this yields results with better credibility than pure numerical simulations can offer. In this study, a HILS system has been developed for ESP (Electronic Stability Program) ECUs. The system consists of the hardware component, which that includes the hydraulic brake mechanism and an ESP ECU, the software component, which virtually implements vehicle dynamics with visualization, and the interface component, which links these two parts together. The validity of HIL simulation is largely contingent upon the accuracy of the vehicle model. To account for this, the HILS system in this research used the commercial software CarSim to generate a detailed full vehicle model, and its parameters were set by using design data, SPMD (Suspension Parameter Measurement Device) data, and data from actual vehicle tests. Using the developed HILS system, performance of a commercial ESP ECU was evaluated for a virtual vehicle under various driving conditions. This HILS system, with its reliability, will be used in various applications that include durability testing, benchmarking and comparison of commercial ECUs, and detection of fault and malfunction of ESP ECUs.

  • With the steady development of Artificial Intelligence (AI), online stores are adopting chatbot services as virtual shopping assistants. This study proposes the concept of para-social presence to explore the undiscovered role of fashion chatbots' emotional and relational characteristics on service acceptance. Based on the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), this study investigates the effect of a chatbot's para-social presence on service acceptance intention through consumers' beliefs. The web-based experiment was conducted on adult consumers who experienced chatbot services in an online shopping situation. A total of 247 responses were analyzed using confirmatory factor analysis, structural equation modeling, and multi-group SEM by AMOS 21.0 and SPSS 23.0. The findings illustrate that the chatbot's intimacy positively influenced consumers' perceived enjoyment, while the chatbot's understanding had a significant effect on perceived usefulness and ease of use. The chatbot's involvement had a positive effect on all consumer beliefs. Moreover, perceived ease of use had a positive influence on usefulness. A greater level of perceived usefulness and enjoyment positively heightened consumers' service acceptance intention. This study also verifies the moderating role of a need for human interaction. Consumers with a high need for human interaction have a relatively low tendency to perceive chatbot services as useful.

  • Due to the concept of "full-strength capacity connection," the pushover analysis method became an issue in designing steel connections. It is difficult to apply practically, however, because engineers are unfamiliar with such method. Moreover, there have been insufficient representative studies on them because most of the past pertinent studies were performed based on high-rise and/or virtual structures. As such, for this study, an actual(now in process) steel structure, a medium-low-rise industrial building, was selected. To perform pushover analysis, it was suggested that lateral load patterns be used in a simple and clear manner for three- and two-dimensional analysis models. A new hinge property was also suggested to prevent erroneous connection design results that can occur in the design process. The suggested load patterns showed almost the same results regardless of the model that was used, from which the obtained load patterns were different. This result implies the validity of the suggested load patterns. As for the suggested hinge property, the structural analysis yielded sound and reasonable results, which confirmed the validity of the proposed hinge property.

  • There wasn't very successful practice cases for the quantity take-off based on the CAD system since the CAD system is used in the construction industry more than 20 years in Korea. It was also not easy to use 3D CAD system in design management and cost management in the construction industry although 3D CAD system is very successful in the manufacturing industry for those areas recently. It is important to construct 3D libraries and to supply those libraries for the designers in time. Architectural work is a kind of creative work. So, Architects like to create their own model. Unlike the manufacturing industry, 3D CAD system can not be survived in the construction industry without new 3D objects supply in the right time. Moreover, the estimation system for 3D must support the schematic design phase, detailed design phase and construction design phase. The product called "Constructor" of Graphisoft consist of modeller, estimator and scheduler based on 3D model. We applied the system to a real project and compared the estimation result and we made a very successful case study.

  • In this article, the acoustic responses of free vibrated natural fibre-reinforced polymer nanocomposite structure have been investigated first time with the help of commercial package (ANSYS) using the multiphysical modelling approach. The sound relevant data of the polymeric structure is obtained by varying weight fractions of the natural nanofibre within the composite. Firstly, the structural frequencies are obtained through a simulation model prepared in ANSYS and solved through the static structural analysis module. Further, the corresponding sound data within a certain range of frequencies are evaluated by modelling the medium through the boundary element steps with adequate coupling between structure and fluid via LMS Virtual Lab. The simulation model validity has been established by comparing the frequency and sound responses with published results. In addition, sets of experimentation are carried out for the eigenvalue and the sound pressure level for different weight fractions of natural fibre and compared with own simulation data. The experimental frequencies are obtained using own impact type vibration analyzer and recorded through LABVIEW support software. Similarly, the noise data due to the harmonically excited vibrating plate are recorded through the available Array microphone (40 PH and serial no: 190569). The numerical results and subsequent experimental comparison are indicating the comprehensiveness of the presently derived simulation model. Finally, the effects of structural design parameters (thickness ratio, aspect ratio and boundary conditions) on the acoustic behaviour of the natural-fibre reinforced nanocomposite are computed using the present multiphysical model and highlighted the inferences.

  • Business process engineering (BPE) is a top-down management approach for increasing efficiency and productivity through radical and fundamental changes to the business processes of the organization. BPE requires firms to initially develop a model of the existing business processes of the firm to distinguish functional tasks from processes used for coordinating inputs, activities and outputs. The model is used for understanding the business processes in the organization and to simulate the effect of changes to the processes. The model can also be used to justify business processes, which involves assessing whether the business process provides value to the customer in its current configuration. Justification requires a careful examination of the key business processes used by the firm to identify systemic shortcomings in the process and to create a new business process to produce greater efficiency. BPE also considers automating as many business processes as possible to increase operational efficiency and the integration of business process tasks. The construction industry has been slow to adopt BPE because of its project approach in which a major firm contracts with various functional service providers and regards each project as unique. The industry focuses on functional task efficiency rather than business process efficiency. There is no formal methodology or criteria for determining whether a business process is effective for a construction firm in its current configuration. The use of performance measures such as costs, task duration times or other metrics can be useful in evaluating the effectiveness of an existing business process and for modeling the possible outcome of a fundamental and radical change to the process.

  • An elevator is a mechanical and electronic device composed of about 20,000 various parts, and is systematically operated with a close relationship with each other. By intuitively understanding this complex elevator structure and efficiently recognizing the operating model, it will be possible to increase the understanding of the elevator system and the efficiency of maintenance. The existing elevator management system is a process of collecting and understanding information based on data generated from elevators, and has a structure that lacks efficiency in expressing and managing real-world information during elevator maintenance. Therefore, this paper proposes a simulator framework that can operate efficiently based on the actual elevator model. By constructing the recognition of specific objects through a 3D-based service model and visualizing the operation process, it will be possible to enhance the understanding of the structure and operation required for elevator operation. To this end, the core components of the elevator system are identified, the relationship between them and the operating method are visualized, and a simulator is implemented. Based on this, it will be possible to provide a realistic information management and operating environment in virtual space and real platform.
