보이스 코일형 모터를 이용한 햅틱 장치의 설계 및 제어 (Design and Control of Haptic Device using Voice Coil Type Motor)

  • In this paper force feedback control system is investigated for improving the quality of the haptic feedback in virtual reality applications. We suggested the method of controlling the haptic device and modelling the virtual environment. Haptic device is composed of five bar link structure, voice coil motor, control board, and virtual environment modeling program. We applied voice coil motor in the actuating system for simple structure and easy control. Virtual environment modelling is constructed in PC, and the control signals of the actuators and the encoder data are transferred to the control system through USB. Experiment is performed to evaluate the characteristics of the haptic device.

Understanding of the Sung-Rye-Moon Roof Structure and implementation of the traditional Bracket-set Design Modules for BIM tools

  • Roof structure of the traditional buildings in the Northeast Asia region including Korea contains the most complicated and crucial components of the building and therefore the issues such as cost down, productivity and the attempt to combine the traditional building methodology with contemporary building technology turn out to be vital to the survival of the old yet disconnected traditional building industry. One of the distinctive modern building technologies is handling life-cycle building information by constructing virtual buildings using BIM, building information modeling tools. In this paper we follow a procedure to implement some of the design modules to be applied in BIM tools which are platforms for constructing virtual building models. We focus on Gong-po components namely the bracket-sets which are the essential part that connects the middle parts to the top parts (the roof structure) which are considered to be the most elaborate parts of the traditional buildings. The target building to work with in this paper is the Sung-Rye-Moon which has special cultural and social meanings nowadays and we tested our understanding and the design modules such as the bracket-sets by constructing a virtual building model of Sung-Rye-Moon.

하이테크(High-Tech) 패션의 변화 및 유형 (Variations and types of high-tech fashion)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze changes in high-tech fashion along with the types and characteristics of high-tech fashion that have appeared recently providing diverse material for the fashion field. High-tech fashion requires such research to learn how much distance one has in one's life. It is also meaningful to predict what direction high-tech fashion research may be needed. For research methods, previous research and literary studies were considered and photographs in which high-tech techniques were used were collected using the keyword 'high-tech fashion'. High-tech fashion types can be organized into the four types of luminescent types, mutual interaction types, 3D printing fashion, and virtual fashion. The research results were as follows. First, luminescent fashion was an important expression method of high-tech fashion. Materials for luminescent fashion first started with LED electric wire connections and many methods have been attempted with the appearance of electrically conductive clothing material, such as luminescent lasers and beam projectors. Second, interactive high-tech fashion often appears as variable fashion. The work of Hussein Chalayan, which was combined with advanced technology, set up a base for variable type interactive high-tech fashion in the 2000s. As bioengineering technology has developed, fashion that interacts with the environment without an energy source has appeared and the interaction among fashion, people, and the environment can be seen. Third, diverse forms of expressiveness in virtual reality such as 3D CLO shows a great difference with past high-tech fashion. Simple and diverse attempts made through virtual fittings reduce the limitations of time and space, permit interaction, and add a sense of reality through speed and dynamic physical beauty. Fourth, 3D printed fashion expresses complex and detailed clothing material that is different from those before with the development of computer 3D modeling technology. Modeling that can imitate geometric and bio-engineered structures is possible and mysterious feelings are passed on to people through creative expressions.

Measuring Visual Attention Processing of Virtual Environment Using Eye-Fixation Information

  • Numerous scholars have explored the modeling, control, and optimization of energy systems in buildings, offering new insights about technology and environments that can advance industry innovation. Eye trackers deliver objective eye-gaze data about visual and attentional processes. Due to its flexibility, accuracy, and efficiency in research, eye tracking has a control scheme that makes measuring rapid eye movement in three-dimensional space possible (e.g., virtual reality, augmented reality). Because eye movement is an effective modality for digital interaction with a virtual environment, tracking how users scan a visual field and fix on various digital objects can help designers optimize building environments and materials. Although several scholars have conducted Virtual Reality studies in three-dimensional space, scholars have not agreed on a consistent way to analyze eye tracking data. We conducted eye tracking experiments using objects in three-dimensional space to find an objective way to process quantitative visual data. By applying a 12 × 12 grid framework for eye tracking analysis, we investigated how people gazed at objects in a virtual space wearing a headmounted display. The findings provide an empirical base for a standardized protocol for analyzing eye tracking data in the context of virtual environments.

디지털 매뉴팩쳐링 기법을 이용한 절단기기의 검증된 가상 NC 시뮬레이터 구축 (Construction of a Verified Virtual NC Simulator for the Cutting Machines at Shipyard Using the Digital Manufacturing Technology)

  • Digital manufacturing is a technology to simulate the real manufacturing process using the virtual model representing the physical schema and the behavior of the real manufacturing system including resources, processes and product information. Therefore, it can optimize the manufacturing system or prevent the bottleneck processes through the simulation before the manufacturing plan is executed. This study presents a method to apply the digital manufacturing technology for the steel cutting process in shipyard. The system modeling of cutting shop is carried out using the IDEF and UML which is a visual modeling language to document the artifacts of a complex system. Also, virtual NC simulators of the cutting machines are constructed to emulate the real operation of cutting machines and NC codes. The simulators are able to verify the cutting shape and estimate the precise cycle time of the planned NC codes. The validity of the virtual model is checked by comparing the real cutting time and shape with the simulated results. It is expected that the virtual NC simulators can be used for accurate estimation of the cutting time and shape in advance of real cutting work.

가상현실을 이용한 영상산업 활용에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Utilization of Video Industry Using Virtual Reality)

  • 가상현실 기술은 인간이 현실세계에서 경험하는 것과 유사한 상호작용 행위를 가상의 공간을 통하여 체험할 수 있게 하는 기술이다. 가상현실 기술을 이용하여 3차인 가상공간에 참여한 사용자는 시간적 공간적 제약에 구애받지 않고 원하는 공간에서 다양한 경험을 할 수 있어서 영상산업, 오락, 시뮬레이션, 의료, 건축 및 설계분야 등 수많은 응용분야에서 그 기술이 활용되고 있다. 그 중 영상분야는 고 부가가치 산업으로 가장 각광을 받고 있는 분야라 할 수 있다. 이와 관련하여 본고에서는 영상산업의 영화, 방송, 광고, 인터넷 등 4가지로 분류하여 각각의 특징 및 적용사례와 발전 가능성을 관하여 살펴보고자 한다. 영상산업에서 가상현실 기술을 이용한 산업을 보면, 영화분야에서는 가상현실 기술을 이용하여 특수효과에 제작되고 있으며, 방송분야에서는 가상 스튜디오와 가상 캐릭터 도입으로 시청자에게 다양한 그래픽 가상세계를 제공하고 있다. 광고분야에서는 방송 생중계시 가상공간에 실시간으로 3차원적 광고 삽입하여 시청자에게 큰 시너지 효과를 줄 수가 있다. 또한, 가상현실 언어인 VRML의 등장으로 웹 상에서도 가상 박물관, 가상 모델하우스, 가상 홈쇼핑, 오락 등 3타원 가상현실 구현이 가능하게 되어 보다 다양한 엔터테인먼트 역할을 수행하고 있다. 이와 같이 본 고는 가상현실 기술을 이용하여 영상산업에 있어 활용방안을 모색하고자 하였다.

주거환경분석시스템의 CAD 시스템 통합을 통한 공동주택단지설계 시 일조 및 조망분석에 관한 연구 (The Analysis of View and Daylights for the Design of Public Housing Complexes Using a Residential Environment Analysis System Integrated into a CAD System)

  • This paper concerns about residential environment analysis program implementation for design and analysis on public housing complexes such that view and daylight analysis processes are automated and integrated into existing design routine to achieve better design efficiency. Considering the architectural design trends this paper chooses ArchiCAD as a platform for a CAD system, which contains the concepts such as integrated object-oriented CAD, virtual building and BIM. Residential environment analysis system consists of three components. The first component is the 3D modeling part defining 3D form information for external geographic contour models, site models and interior/exterior of apartment buildings. The second is the parametric library part handling the design parameters for view and daylight analysis. The last is the user interface for the input/output and integration of data for the environment analysis. Daylight analysis shows rendered images as well as results of daylight reports and grades per time and performs the calculations for floor shadow. It separates the site-only analysis from the analysis of site and exterior environmental parameters. View analysis considers horizontal and vertical view angles to produce view image from each unit and uses the bitmap analysis method to determine opening ratio, scenery ratio and void ratio. We could expect better performance and precision from this residential environment analysis system than the existing 2D drawing based view and daylight analysis methods and overcome the existing one-way flow of design information from 3D form to analysis reports so that site design modifications are automatically reflected on analysis results. Each part is developed in a module so that further integration and extension into other related estimation and construction management systems are made possible.

환경생태정보 전달을 위한 가상·증강현실 사용자 경험디자인 연구 - 서울식물원 온실을 중심으로 - (The User Experience Design of Virtual and Augmented Reality for Environmental and Ecological Information - Focusing on the Conservatory of Seoul Botanic Park -)

  • The purpose of this research is to examine the user experience design that effectively exhibits botanical information through a virtual habitat built with 3D modeling and scanning data for the conservatory at Seoul Botanic Park. Seoul Botanic Park's conservatory contains environmental and ecological information on the wide spectrum of diverse plants under twelve cities all over the world. However, the exhibition method, which focuses on maps and information boards, has limitations in delivering diverse plant and habitat information to visitors. Virtual and augmented reality can be used as an effective tool for educating and experiencing the contents of various plant species as it can convey the ecological and environmental conditions of the habitat and local culture at diverse levels. This study experimented with constructing virtual habitats using the Unreal Engine and effectively communicating various botanical information through the interaction. With the introduction of a virtual habitat, we intend to enhance the user experience of park visitors and ultimately explore the possibility of using virtual and augmented reality to convey multi-layered environmental and ecological information of landscape.

  • 무선센서 네트워크 기술의 응용이 크게 증가함에 따라 저전력 IEEE 802.15.4 호환 무선방식을 활용하는 실내 위치추적기술이 최근에 큰 관심을 모으고 있다. 기존의 실내 위치감지 정보는 2D 영상 기준으로서 정보의 실질적인 전달에 제한적인 기능을 나타내었다. 본 논문에서는 PDA에 대화형 가상현실기술에 바탕을 둔 고정밀 3차원 RSSI 기반의 화면 구성에 초점을 두고있다. 개발된 시스템은 관심영역에서 RF신호의 감쇄를 계산하여 위치정보를 얻은 다음, 이를 3D 실내 가상맵에서의 사용자의 위치로 나타내도록 설계되었다. 이 연구에서는 3차원 모델링을 위해 개발된 VRML(가상현실 모델링 언어)이 3D 실내환경을 설계하는데 활용되었다.
