  • In this study, vibration characteristics in according to the load type of cast resin transformer using vibration measurement device were compared. Measurement conditions are the same installation and operation of the three-phase cast resin transformer. If the load increases in transformer using the rotating machinery, the frequency is growing. In the transformer using the lighting and heating loads, it's detected the 55 [${\mu}m/s$] in or outside and 120 [${\mu}m/s$] or more at 60[Hz], the 30 [${\mu}m/s$] in or outside at 120[Hz], and the 70 [${\mu}m/s$] in or outside at 420[Hz]. When increases the loads, it's appeared the 60 [${\mu}m/s$] or less at 450[Hz] or more in rotating machinery, but the velocity of lighting and lighting loads are appeared from 5[${\mu}m/s$] to 115[${\mu}m/s$] inside the 420[Hz] in the same load condition of 20[%]. Through this study, it's verified that there are differences the internal vibration in according to the type of load in cast resin transformer.

  • Excessive vibration in rotating machinery is a problem encountered in many different fields, causing such difficulties as fatigue of machinery components and failure of supporting bearings. Passive techniques, though sometimes limited in their capabilities, have been used in the past to attenuated vibrations. Recently active techniques have been developed to provide vibration control perform beyond that provided by their passive counters. Most often, the focus of active control methods has been to suppress rotating machinery displacements. In cases where vibration results in bearing failures, displacement suppression may not be the best choice of control approaches (it can, in fact, increase dynamic bearing loads which would be even more harmful to bearings). This paper presents two optimal control methods for attenuating steady state vibrations in rotating machinery. One method minimizes shaft displacements while the other minimizes dynamic bearing reaction forces. The two methods are applied to a model of a typical rotating machinery system and their results are compared. It is found that displacement minimization can increase bearing loads, while bearing load minimization, on the other hand, decreases bearing loads.

  • In this study, the vibration screening effectiveness of barriers which can isolate structures from ground-transmitted vibration generated by harmonic forces is performed. For high frequencies, the vibration screening effectiveness of barriers is analyzed from field tests, and compared with the results from numerical analyses using a commercial program, ANSYS. Using these numerical analysis procedures, the effectiveness for vibration with various low frequencies is predicted. The frequency analysis tests of surface waves are performed in order to estimate the dynamic material properties of soil for 100 Hz, 150 Hz, 200 Hz, and 250 Hz. Three-dimensional solid elements are used in order to consider the diffraction of waves in all directions. Spring-damper combination elements are used in order to avoid the reflection of waves on the boundary. The results of numerical analysis agree with those of field tests. From the results of this numerical analyses, the reduction of vibration for low frequencies induced by the traffic loads can be predicted.

  • The purpose of this study was to develop a theoretical model to analyze the vibration of finite railways forced by distributed moving loads. The vibration characteristics of compliantly supported beam utilizing compressional damping model were investigated through the Rayleigh-Ritz method. The distributed moving load was analyzed as the cross correlation function on railways. This allowed the use of statistical characteristics for simulation of the moving train wheels on the rail. The results showed there is a critical velocity inducing resonant vibration of the rail. The mass spring resonance from the rail fastening systems exhibited significant influence on the resulting vibration response. In particular, the effect of the viscoelastic core damping was investigated as an efficient method for minimizing rail vibration. The decrease of the averaged vibration and rolling noise generation by the damping core was maximized at the mass-stiffness-mass resonance frequency.

  • In this work, the effect of composite couplings and mass distributions on hub loads of a hingeless rotor in forward flight is investigated. 1'he hingeless composite rotor is idealized as a laminated thin-walled box-beam. The nonclassical effects such as transverse shear and torsion warping are considered in the structural formulation. The nonlinear differential equations of motion are obtained by applying Hamilton's principle. The blade responses and hub loads are calculated using a finite element formulation both in space and time. The aerodynamic forces acting on the blade are calculated using the quasi-steady strip theory. The theory includes the effects of reversed flow and compressibility The magnitude of elastic couplings obtained by MSC/NASTRAN is compared with the classical pitch-flap($\delta$$_{3}$) coupling. It is observed that the elastic couplings and mass distributions of the blade have a substantial effect on the behavior of $N_{b/}$rev hub loads. About 40% hub loads is reduced by tailoring or redistributing the structural properties of the blade.f the blade.

  • This paper conducts a vibratory loads reduction analysis of an Advanced Active Trailing-edge Flap (AATF) blade utilizing single crystal piezoelectric actuators. For an AATF blade, a new L-L piezostack actuator using single crystal PMN-PT materials is designed. The AATF blade is designed to have similar characteristics to the Advanced Active Twist Rotor (AATR) blade. The active trailingedge flap is assumed to be 20% of the blade span and 15% of the chord, located at 75% of the blade radius. In order to conduct the vibratory loads reduction analysis of the AATF blade in forward flight, DYMORE, a multi-body dynamics analysis code, is used. The simulation result shows that the hub vibratory loads may be reduced by approximately 89% even with a much lower input-voltage when comparing with the other active rotor systems.

  • The present paper proposes a new dynamic analysis method for multi-span Timoshenko beam structures supported by joints with damping subject to moving loads. An exact dynamic element matrix method is adopted to model Timoshenko beam structures. A generalized modal analysis method is applied to derive response formulae for beam structures subject to moving loads. The proposed method offers an exact and closed form solution. Two numerical examples are provided for validating and illustrating the proposed method. In the first numerical example, a single span beam with multiple moving loads is considered. A dynamic analysis on a multi-span beam under a moving load is considered as the second example, in which the flexibility and damping of supporting joints are taken into account. The numerical study proves that the proposed method is useful for the vibration analysis of multi-span beam-hype structures by moving loads.

  • The main purpose of this paper is to present both the natural frequencies and the first critical loads of tapered columns. The ordinary differential equation governing the free vibration for tapered columns under compressive axial force is derived. Three kinds of cross sectional shape are considered in the governing equation. The Runge-Kutta method and determinant search method are used to perform the integration of the differential equation and to determine the natural frequencies, respectively. Additionally, the bisection method is used to determine the critical loads. In numerical examples, the effects of compressive axial force on the natural frequencies of tapered columns are investigated varying the end conditions. The first critical loads of tapered columns are determined on the basis of dynamic concepts. The first critical loads of tapered columns are determined on the basis of dynamic concept. The effects of cross sectional shapes are shown and some typical mode shapes are also presented.

  • The vibration characteristics of post-buckled laminated composite doubly curved shells are investigated. The finite element method is used for the analysis of post-buckling and free vibration of post-buckled laminated shells. The geometric non-linear finite element model includes the general non-linear terms in the strain-displacement relationships. The shell geometry used in the present formulation is derived using an orthogonal curvilinear coordinate system. Based on the principle of virtual work the non-linear finite element equations are derived. Arc-length method is implemented to capture the load-displacement equilibrium curve. The vibration characteristics of post-buckled shell are performed using tangent stiffness obtained from the converged deflection. The code is first validated and then employed to generate numerical results. Parametric studies are performed to analyze the snapping and vibration characteristics. The relationship between loads and fundamental frequencies and between loads and the corresponding displacements are determined for various parameters such as thickness ratio and shallowness.
