Developing UAM Time Data Sharing System for Efficient Operation of Vertiport (버티포트 효율적 운용을 위한 UAM 시간정보 공유체계 개발방안)

  • Currently, the airport is expected to improve flight punctuality and operational efficiency after establishing A-CDM, which provides a foundation for mutual cooperation based on an information sharing system among stakeholders. An important element of the A-CDM is to share time information generated by each stakeholder from the arrival of an aircraft to ground operations and departure of the aircraft, thereby supporting timely arrival and departure of aircraft and improving the efficiency and punctuality of airport operations. In the UAM system, a vertiport that plays a role similar to an airport also needs to establish a system to share time information generated by each stakeholder for efficient operation of limited resources. In this regard, a method is needed to identify time information that needs to be shared by each stakeholder and apply technology to share it. In this paper, we propose an application method for system technology that classifies and mutually shares time information generated by stakeholders related to Vertiport operation according to data characteristics.

  • In this paper, the design requirements was produced by analyzing domestic and foreign regulations of the vertical takeoff and landing site required to operate the urban air mobility (UAM) system in Korea and the size of the take-off and landing pads were defined, and the configuration of vertiport was proposed. First, for the metropolitan area with high population density, pilot locations of the vertical take-off and landing site were selected based on the demonstration routes suggested by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and analyzed the characteristics of each location and determined the number of possible installations of vertiport by measuring each site. After that, variables necessary for the operation of the vertical takeoff and landing area were set, and the hourly, daily, monthly aircraft operating cycle, the number of acceptable people, and efficiency were calculated according to the number of simultaneous operation and the number of stand. Finally, using CATIA, the configurations of the virtual vertiport was created by applying the design requirements.

  • This paper deals with the operation of air taxis, which is one of the latest innovative technologies aimed at solving the issue of traffic congestion in cities. A key challenge for the successful introduction of the technology and efficient operation is a vertiport location problem. This paper employs a discrete choice model to calculate choice probabilities of transportation modes for each route, taking into account factors such as cost and travel time associated with different modes. Based on this probability, a mathematical formulation to maximize the utilization rate for air taxi is proposed. However, the proposed model is NP-hard, effective and efficient solution methodology is required. Compared to previous studies that simply proposed the optimization models, this study presents a solution methodology using the cross-entropy algorithm and confirms the effectiveness and efficiency of the algorith through numerical experiments. In addition to the academic excellence of the algorithm, it suggests that decision-making that considers actual data and air taxi utilization plans can increase the practial usability.

  • Information sharing and decision making between airport stakeholders became possible after the introduction of airport cooperative making system (A-CDM). This also resulted in optimizing aircraft handling time and increased the efficiency of aircraft operations. Technological advances have recently led to the development of urban air mobility (UAM) which is a small aircraft taking off and landing vertically. It is emerging as a new air transportation system in the future due to its advantage of saving time and solving congestion problem in the urban area. This study aims to suggest how vertiport cooperative decision making system (V-CDM) should be managed for efficient operation of UAM. By establishing procedure for decision making system based on Vertiport ecosystem of UAM.
