대형 UTM을 이용한 강관합성 말뚝재료의 강도 특성 평가 (Evaluation on compressive strength of steel-concrete composite piles using a large scaled UTM(Universal Test Machine))

  • Various model piles with different sections such as reinforced concrete, steel, steel-concrete composite without rebar and steel-concrete composite with rebar were made, and vertical load test was conducted using a large scaled UTM(Universal Test Machine) to evaluate Young's modulus and ultimate load of the model piles. Based on the tests, ultimate load of steel-concrete composite pile is 31% greater than the sum of it of reinforced concrete pile and it of steel pile. This is caused that ultimate load and Young's modulus of inner concrete increase due to confining effect by outer steel casing. Variation of ultimate load is also insignificant depending on the ratio of length to diameter(L/D), therefore bucking has not an effect on change of ultimate load in case of the L/D below 10.

  • The problems associated with constructing high-speed concrete track embankments over soft compressible soil has lead to the development and/or extensive use of many of the ground improvement techniques used today. Drains, surcharge loading, and geosynthetic reinforcement, have all been used to solve the settlement and embankment stability issues associated with construction on soft soils. However, when time constraints are critical to the success of the project, owners have resorted to another innovative approach. Especially, the design criteria of residual settlement is limited as 30mm for concrete track embankment, it is very difficult to satisfy this standard using the former construction method. Pile net method consist of vertical columns that are designed to transfer the load of the embankment through the soft compressible soil layer to a firm foundation and one or more layers of geosynthetic reinforcement placed between the top of the columns and the bottom of the embankment. This paper will present the guidelines for the design of pile net method to supported embankments. These guidelines were developed based on a review of current design methodologies and a parametric study of design variables using numerical modeling.

  • In this study, physical characteristics of cement and/or concrete materials that are typically used for energy-foundation (EF) structures have been studied. The thermal conductivity and structural integrity of the cement-based materials were examined, which are commonly encountered in backfilling a vertical ground heat exchangers, cast-in-place concrete piles and concrete lining in tunnel. For this purpose the thermal conductivity and unconfined compression strength of cement-based materials with various curing conditions were experimentally estimated and compared. Hydration heat generated from massive concrete in the cast-in-place concrete energy pile was observed for 4 weeks to estimate its dissipation time in the underground. The hydration heat may mask the in-situ thermal response test (TRT) result performed in the cast-in-place concrete energy pile. It is concluded that at least two weeks are needed to dissipate the hydration heat in this case. In addition, a series of numerical analysis was performed to compare the effect of thermal property of the concrete material on the cast-in-place pile.

불균질 지반에 설치된 테이퍼 마찰말뚝의 자유진동 특성 분석 (Analysis of Free Vibration Characteristics of Tapered Friction Piles in Non-homogeneous Soil Layers)

  • 본 논문에서는 테이퍼 마찰말뚝의 자유진동을 평가할 수 있는 해석모델을 제안하였다. 불균질 지반에 설치된 정적 수직하중을 받는 테이퍼 마찰말뚝의 자유진동을 지배하는 미분방정식을 유도하였다. 이 지배방정식을 Runge-Kutta 법을 이용하여 직접 수치적분하였고, 미분방정식의 고유치인 고유진동수는 Regula-Falsi 법을 이용하여 산정하였다. 원통형 말뚝의 고유진동수 계산값은 기존 문헌값과 잘 일치하였다. 수치예를 통해 말뚝의 변단면, 주면마찰력, 단부조건, 수직압축하중 및 지반의 불균질성이 고유진동수와 모드형상에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다.

Investigation of the Effective Range of Cathodic Protection for Concrete Pile Specimens Utilizing Zinc Mesh Anode

  • A zinc mesh sacrificial anode cathodic protection method is recently being developed to protect the reinforced concrete structure in a marine environment. However, comprehensive information regarding the cathodic protection technology applied to reinforced concrete test specimens utilizing zinc mesh sacrificial anodes remains limited. Particularly, no research has investigated the effective range of sacrificial anode cathodic protection in a reinforced concrete structure regarding the transmission of protection current from zinc mesh sacrificial anode to the reinforced concrete structure, particularly concerning effects of temperature variations. This study examined the distribution of potential and current using a long single rebar and several segment reinforcing bars inside a horizontal beam. Vertical pile specimens were applied with a zinc mesh sacrificial anode to simulate concrete bridges or harbor structures. To check the effect of cathodic protection, cathodic protection potential and current of the reinforced concrete specimens were measured and 100 mV depolarization criterion test was performed. It was confirmed that effect of cathodic protection varied depending on resistivity and temperature. The cathodic protection test of pile specimens revealed that the maximum reachable range of cathodic protection current was 10 cm from the waterline as observed in the experiment.

  • 우리나라의 서 남해안 지역과 내륙의 하천 인근 지역은 상당한 범위에 걸쳐 점성토 지반이 형성되어 있다. 연약지반상의 제체는 지지지반의 지지력 부족으로 인하여 변위를 일으킨다. 장기적인 압밀은 구조체의 침하나 전단파괴를 가져올 수 있다. 따라서, 지반의 파괴와 과다변형을 억제하기 위해서 건설현장에 다양한 연직배수공법을 적용한다. 이 연구는 지반개량의 범위에 기초하여 연직배수재를 연직 및 수평방향으로 변화시켜 효율적인 개량 범위의 형태를 결정하고자 한다. 제체의 가장자리로부터 거리에 따른 강도의 변화는 제체 사면의 현장 값으로부터 해석되어진다.

Downdrag에 의한 군말뚝의 상호작용계수 (Vertical Interaction Factors of Pile Groups due to Downdrag)

  • 본 연구에서는 군말뚝에서 말뚝의 상대적인 위치에 따라 다른 downdrag 하중분포를 발생시키는 그룹효과를 이론적인 해석과 수치해석을 통하여 연구 검토하였다. 3차원 비선형 유한요소 해석으로 말뚝 간격과 개수에 따른 군말뚝에서의 상호작용계수를 산정하였다. 연구결과 그룹안의 개개 말뚝들은 단독말뚝에 비해서 말뚝 간격에 따라 현저한 상호작용계수의 변화를 보였다. 또한 본 논문에서 제안된 방법에 의한 그룹안에서 말뚝들의 위치에 따른 downdrag 하중산정을 계산예를 통하여 그 외 여러 해석적인 방법들과 비교 검토하였다.

화강풍화토 지반에 타입된 PHC 말뚝의 수평지지력에 대한 추정치와 실측치의 비교 (A Comparison between predicted and measured values for lateral bearing capacity of PHC pile in weathered Granite soil)

  • This study dealt with the comparison of lateral baring capacity for vertical PHC pile between predicted and measured values driven in weathered granite soils to build world cup gymnasium in Kwangju area. Recently, the calculation of horizontal bearing capacity of piles foundation has been considered very important for earthquake or wind resistant design in Korea. During this study , Matlock & Reese, Broms and Chang's methods were selected in prediction of lateral resistant of PHC piles. As for case study, the prediction values were compared with 5 measured ones based on ASTM. The result showed that prediction values proposed by Matlock & Reese , Chang and Broms were smaller that real values. Three proposed methods by Matlock & Reese and Chang based on lateral deflection and Broms by ultimated lateral resistance turned out valid in view of engineering practice.

  • This paper presents a preliminary study to monitor the lateral behavior of pile foundation using multiplexed fiber Bragg grating (FBG) sensors. In the preliminary study, an 1.7 meter long cantilever beam with the shape of square hollow box was fabricated and tested under the static loading. Four FBG sensors were multiplexed in a single optical fiber and installed into the top and bottom of the cantilever beam. The strains are directly measured from FBG sensors followed by curvature calculations based on the plane section assumption. Vertical deflections are then estimated using the regression analyses based on the geometric relationships. It has been found that excellent correlation with conventional sensing system was observed. The success of the test encourages the use of the FBG sensing system as a monitoring system for pile foundations. However, further consideration should be given in the case of the sensor malfunction for the practical purpose.

Influence Analysis of Deep Excavation on the Nearby Undercrossing Road by Centrifuge Model Test

  • An excavation with the depth of 32.7m will be constructed as a ventilation shaft in Shanghai metro Line 9. The excavation induced effect on a nearby undercrossing road in operation must be properly evaluated. A centrifuge model test was conducted to study the impact of deep excavation on this existing undercrossing. Detail simulation works are described in this paper. The excavation steps could be simulated in the no-stop state of centrifuge machine. And induced settlements of the undercrossing road in both parallel and vertical directions were analyzed. Protective partition cement soil piles were also simulated in the tests. Simulation test shows deep excavation has a great influence on undercrossing road and the partition pile can obviously deduce the influence.
