콘테이너선의 불규칙파 중 운동응답에 대한 실험적 고찰 (Experimental Analysis on the Motion Response of a Container Ship in Irregular Head Waves)

  • This paper presents the results of seakeeping tests in a container ship model in irregular head waves. A time domain signal generating procedure is devised so that the wave maker behaves in accordance with the specified wave spectrum. The surface elevation of generated waves is measured and analysed to render the recorded wave spectrum for comparison with the specified one. Correction is made to the time domain signal until the differences between the two spectra become negligible. The motion responses and vertical acceleration of the self-propelled ship model are measured and analysed by both the spectral and the double amplitude methods. The two methods give nearly same statistical values. Finally the recorded spectra are compared with those calculated from the frequency domain motion analysis to show the credibility of the experimental results.

오대산지진(2007/01/20) 관측자료를 이용한 응답스펙트럼 분석 (Analysis of Response Spectrum of Ground Motions from Odaesan Earthquake (2007/01/20))

  • 최근 발생한 오대산지진(2007년 1월 20일)으로부터 관측된 지반진동 파형을 이용하여 응답스펙트럼을 분석하였으며, 결과를 국내 원자력 관련 구조물의 내진설계 기준과 비교하였다. 연구에 이용된 지반진동 개수는 수평성분 및 수직성분 각각 21개 및 8개이다. 지반진동을 이용하여 주파수별 지반응답을 구하고 정규화 분석 및 통계적 분석을 하였다. 본 연구결과를 국내 원자력시설물의 내진기준에 해당하는 Reg. Guide 1.60과 비교한 결과 특히 약 10 Hz 이상의 고주파수 영역에서 수직 및 수평 성분 모두 MPOSD스펙트럼이 Reg. Guide 1.60보다 높은 값을 보여 주었다. 따라서 향후 국내 지진활동 실정에 적합한 내진설계를 위해 수직 및 수평 성분 모두 10Hz 이상의 고주파수 대역에서 응답스펙트럼 값을 심각하게 고려할 필요가 있다.

  • 본 연구에서는 수직구의 동적 거동특성 분석을 위하여 지반조건, 입력하중 특성, 하중 방향 등의 주요 인자를 고려하여 3차원 유한요소해석을 수행하였다. 그 결과로, 다층지반에 시공된 수직구는 하부 단단한 지층이 두꺼울수록 전단력과 휨모멘트가 최대 1.7배 크게 발생되며, 지층이 변화하는 경계면에서 가장 큰 단면력이 발생된다. 또한 입력하중의 주기 특성에 따라 수직구 동적거동은 서로 다르며, 수직구와 주변지반에서의 가속도 증폭 비율은 주변지반에서 최대 3배 이상 크게 나타났다.

  • The Safe Operating Envelope (SOE) combined with Short-Take-Off and Vertical Landing (STOVL) performance is an essential consideration of a light aircraft carrier for design of hull shape with excellent seakeeping performance in terms of naval air operations as well as traditional naval ship missions such as Transit and Patrol (TAP), and Replenishment at Sea (RAS) and so on. A variety of procedures are systematically combined to determine SOE considering rather complicated missions associated with operation of aircraft onboard. The evaluation of take-off and landing safety missions onboard should consider wind effect on deck and severer seakeeping indices and standards compared with conventional naval ships. In order to support take-off and landing missions, various support activities of the crews are required. So, additional evaluation is needed for indicators such as MSI(Motion sickness Index) and MII(Motion Induced Interruptions), which are quantitative indicators of work ability that appear as a result of motion response. In this study, a standard procedure is developed including the seaworthiness performance indicators, standards, and evaluation procedures that should be considered during design of STOVL aircraft carrier. Analysis results are discussed in terns of air-wake on deck as well as seakeeping indices associated with design parameter changes in view of conceptual design of a light aircraft carrier.

벽면의 유연성을 고려한 액체저장탱크의 동적해석 (Seismic Analysis of Liquid Storage Tanks Considering Shell Flexibility)

  • 직립원통형 액체저장탱크가 지진하중을 받을 때, 벽면 유연성이 벽면에 작용하는 유동압력에 미치는 영향에 대해 연구하였다. 탱크 구조물은 환(ring)형 유한요소를 사용하여 이상화하였으며, 유동에 대한 해는 Laplace 방정식을 이용하여 구하였다. 쉘-유체계의 운동방정식은 자유표면거동과 벽면유연성의 상관효과까지 포함하여 구성하였으며, 이에 따른 쉘 거동과 자유표면거동에 대한 자유진동모우드를 해석하는 방법이 개발되었다. 예제해석으로는, 구조적 특성이 다른 몇개의 저장탱크에 대해, 응답스펙트럼 해석법과 시간영역 해석법을 사용하여 동적응답을 구하였고, 그 결과들을 비교 분석하였다.

Energy extraction from the motion of an oscillating water column

  • An Oscillating Water Column (OWC) is a relatively practical and convenient device that converts wave energy to a usable form, which is electricity. The OWC is kept inside a fixed truncated vertical cylinder, which is a hollow structure with one open end submerged in the water and with an air turbine at the top. This research adopts potential theory and Galerkin methods to solve the fluid motion inside the OWC. Using an air-water interaction model, OWC design for energy extraction from regular wave is also explored. The hydrodynamic coefficients of the scattering and radiation potentials are solved for using the Galerkin approximation. The numerical results for the free surface elevation have been verified by a series of experiments conducted in the University of New Orleans towing tank. The effect of varying geometric parameters on the response amplitude operator (RAO) of the OWC is studied and modification of the equation for evaluating the natural frequency of the OWC is made. Using the model of air-water interaction under certain wave parameters and OWC geometric parameters, a computer program is developed to calculate the energy output from the system.

선형(船型)이 선체운동(船體運動)에 미치는 영향(影響)에 관(關)한 연구(硏究) (The Effect of Forebody Forms on the Ship Motion in Regular Head Waves)

  • The effect of the bow shape on the ship motion response among longitudinal regular waves, is investigated employing the strip theory. The two dimensional hydrodynamic forces such as added mass and damping are calculated by the integral equation method for arbitrary sections. Nine ship models are selected for investigation. They are U, UV and V bow ship forms of different block coefficient of 0.6, 0.7 and 0.8 with constant after body. The heave amplitude of the V bow ship is smaller than that of the U bow ship in the whole range of wave length except extremely short wave as were stated by the earlier investigators. This results holds also in the case of bow vertical motions such as vertical relative displacement, velocity and acceralation. As to the pitch amplitudes, the V bow ship gives smaller value in long waves but larger value in short waves. However, heave and pitch phase angles are practically not influenced by the form of the fore body sections. In the bow motions, a little difference in phase angle is appeared in the vicinity of the wave which has same ship length. With respect to the wave exiting force and moment unfovourable effects could be expected in V bow ships. And these tendency hold also in the wave bending moment.

선수 규칙파 중 단동 활주선의 연직면 거동 추정 - Zarnick 비선형 스트립 방법의 개선 (Theoretical Prediction of Vertical Motion of Planing Monohull in Regular Head Waves - Improvement of Zarnick's Nonlinear Strip Method)

  • In order to predict the motions of a planing hull in waves, it is necessary to accurately estimate the force components acting on the hull such as the hydrodynamic force, buoyancy, and friction, as well as the wave exciting force. In particular, based on strip theory, hydrodynamic forces can be estimated by the summation of the forces acting on each cross-section of the hull. A non-linear strip method for planing hulls was mathematically developed by Zarnick, and his formula has been used to predict the vertical motions of prismatic planing hulls in regular waves. In this study, several improvements were added to Zarnick's formula to predict the vertical motions of warped planing hulls. Based on calm water model test results, the buoyancy force and moment correction coefficients were modified. Further improvements were made in the pile-up correction. Pile-up correction factors were changed according to variations of the deadrise angles using the results found in previous research. Using the same hull form, captive model tests were carried out in other recent research, and the results were compared with the present calculation results. The comparison showed reasonably good agreements between the model tests and present calculations.

  • In this paper, seismic response of a free-standing ship located in a dry dock and supported by an arrangement of n keel blocks due to base excitation is addressed. Formulation of the problem including derivation of governing equations in various modes of motion as well as transition conditions from one mode to another is given in Moghaddasi and Bargi (2006) by same authors. On the base of numerical solution for presented formulation, several numbers of analyses are conducted to study sensitivity of system's responses to some major contributing parameters. These parameters include friction coefficients between contacting surfaces, block dimensions, peak ground acceleration, and the magnitude of vertical ground acceleration. Finally, performance of a system with usual parameters normally encountered in design is investigated.

  • The most important difference of an airship from conventional vehicle is that it has the apparent mass and inertia provided from the existence of Helium gas inside the airship. To acquire To acquire the exact response of the airship, the longitudinal responses of airship with respect to the vertical gust, which is the non-linear system, have been studied.
