Unsteady Flows Arising in a Mixed-Flow Vaneless Diffuser System

  • The main objective of this study was to clarify the origin of the unsteady flows arising in a mixed-flow vaneless diffuser system and also the effects of physical components of the system. The testing equipment consists of a straight tube, a swirl generator, and a mixed-flow vaneless diffuser. Pressure fluctuations of the flow through the tube and diffuser were measured by using a semiconductor-type pressure transducer and analyzed by an FFT analyzer. In the experiment, the velocity ratio (axial velocity/peripheral velocity) of the internal flow, and the geometric parameters of the diffuser were varied. Two kinds of unsteady flows were measured according to the combination of the components, and the origin of each unsteady flow was clarified. The fundamental frequencies of unsteady flows arose were examined by two-dimensional small perturbation analysis.

  • Diverging channel from gas engine exit to the inlet section of Heat Recovery Steam Generator (HRSG) has been re-designed for 1 MW system. To improve the uniformity in velocity and temperature distribution of existing design(Case A and B), two additional test geometries have been chosen for the numerical simulation. At first, gas burner exit section has been centered to the inlet section of the boiler(Case C) and uniformity in velocity and temperature distribution has been improved considerably. Secondly, the diverging channel length can be further reduced to compact geometry with new guide vane design (Case D and E). Proposed design shows overall improvement in uniformity in velocity and temperature distribution compared to existing one.

  • We design the stable controller with variable gains and reference velocity in order to apply to this controller the proper gains and reference velocity generated with fuzzy logic in on-line. The proposed controller is applied to solve two problems including the reference velocity tracking problem and speedy tracking problem. The result of the simulation show a robust performance under the different conditions

조파역내 오염물 이동특성 평가 실험 (Experiments for the Characteristic Evaluation of Pollutant Transport in Tidal Influenced Region)

  • The characteristics for pollutant transport in tidal influenced area was investigated using tidal wave hydraulic scale model. Hydraulic scale model was composed of the tidal generator, attenuation area and channel. Also, wave height, current meter and conductivity meter were used with the measured instruments in hydraulic scale model. NaCl with a tracer was used to evaluate the advection phenomena under the different velocity profiles. The arrival time of the maximum concentration in the condition of the relatively fast velocity was measured about 30 seconds faster than ones in the conditions of low velocity. The measured concentrations of the tracer were shown in the detection points of the flow direction consecutively.

흡기관내 와류생성기가 압축착화엔진의 수분 농도 분포 및 연소성능 향상에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Vortex Generator in Intake Pipe on the Moisture Concentration Distributions and Combustion Performance in a CI Engine)

  • In this work, optimization of blade shape for the improvement of mixture formation and vortex of intake port was performed by numerically, and the combustion performance of CI engine with optimized blade shape was investigated. To achieve this, 3 types of blade shape were studied under the different air flow mass conditions and the numerical results were investigated in terms of humidification water, moisture concentration, and velocity distributions. Evaporated liquid mass was also compared under various test conditions to reveal the turbulent intensity in an intake port. It was observed that the optimized blade shape can improve the humidification water, moisture concentration, and velocity distributions of intake port inside. The evaporated liquid mass was also increased under the conditions with blade. Especially, low NOx emissions was observed with optimized blade condition.

Flow-induced instability and nonlinear dynamics of a tube array considering the effect of a clearance gap

  • Fluidelastic instability and nonlinear dynamics of tube bundles is a key issue in a steam generator. Especially, once the post-instability motion of the tube becomes larger than the clearance gap to other tubes, effective contact or impact between the tubes under consideration and the other tube inevitable. There is seldom theoretical analysis to the nonlinear dynamic characteristics of a tube array in two-phase flow. In this paper, experimental and numerical studies were utilized to obtain the critical velocity of the flow-induced instability of a rotated triangular tube array. The calculation results agreed well with the experimental data. To explore the post-instability dynamics of the tube array system, a Runge-Kutta scheme was used to solve the nonlinear governing equations of tube motion. The numerical results indicated that, when the flow pitch velocity is larger than the critical velocity, the tube array system is undergoing a limit cycle motion, and the dynamic characteristics of the tube array are almost similar for different void fractions.

파와 흐름에 노출된 관로 주변부 국부세굴에 영향을 미치는 매개변수 (Parameters Analysis for Influence on the Local Scour around a Pipeline Exposed Waves and Currents)

  • 이 논문은 천해역에서 파와 흐름에 노출된 관로주변의 세굴을 다루고 있다. 해저관로주변의 세굴특성을 알아보기 위해, 관경, 주기, 파고 및 흐름속도를 달리해 가면서 실험을 수행하였다. 파와 흐름 발생장치가 사용되었고, 흐름은 파와 동일한 방향과 그 역방향으로 발생시켰다. 실험결과를 이용하여, 세굴심과 KC수, Froude 수, Ursell 수 및 속도비등과 같은 무차원 매개변수들과의 상관관계를 분석하였다. 상대세굴심은 속도비 함수가 0에 접근하면 파의 성분에 지배되고, 1에 접근하면 흐름성분에 지배되는 것을 명료히 보였다. 속도비 함수는 파와 흐름이 공존하는 영역에서 관로주변의 세굴변화를 표현할 수 있는 적절한 매개변수임이 입증되었다. 또한 Froude 수와 KC수에 각각 파의 수립자속도와 흐름속도를 고려한 매개변수들은 세굴심을 나타내는데 더 좋은 상관관계를 보여 주었다.

  • The rates of deterioration of contractile forces of isolated hearts from ginseng component treated rats were determined. Rat papillary muscles were also used to study the influence of ginseng on the mechanical performance of heart. Rats weighing 200-300g were administered orally with ginseng ethanol extract (100mg/kg/day), ginseng total saponin (50mg/kg/day) and ginsenoside Rbl (5mg/kg/ day) for a week respectively. The isolated hearts from rats were perfused with Krebs-Henseleit solution by Langendorff perfusion apparatus. The force-velocity relation was clearly seen with the load-generator equipped isotonic shortening recording apparatus. The control group was only able to maintain 60% of their initial contractile forces after 120 minutes of perfusion, whereas ginseng ethanol extract treated group was able to sustain nearly their initial strength even after 120 minutes of perfusion. The similar effects were seen in the hearts treated with total ginseng saponin and ginsenoside Rb$_{1}$. Ginseng ethanol extract did alter mechanical performance of rat ventricular myocardium. It increased both maximum velocity(Vmax) of isotonic shortening and isometric force (P$_{0}$) and showed increased velocity of shortening significantly (P<0,05) at any one afterload.d.

광대역 파력발전기의 진동시스템과 부양 체에 대한 연구 (Study on the Buoy and Vibration System in Broadband Ocean Wave Power Generator)

  • 일반적으로 파력진동발전기는 부양 체, 진동시스템, 선형발전시스템으로 구성된다. 기존의 파력 진동발전기는 진동시스템과 파도에너지가 갖는 주파수를 일치시켜 공진현상을 이용하여 에너지효율을 극대화하였다. 그러나 파도에너지가 갖는 주파수는 시시각각 변하기 때문에 공진을 이용하여 파도에너지를 효율적으로 얻는 것은 어렵다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 단점을 해결하기위해 파력 발전기를 구성하는 부양 체와 진동시스템에 대하여 연구하였다. 먼저 파도에너지가 갖는 중심주파수에서 공진이 발생되도록 바다에 떠있는 부양 체를 설계하였고, 진동시스템과도 공진이 발생되도록 진동시스템을 설계하였다. 그 결과 일정 주파수대역에서 파력진동발전기를 구성하는 부양 체와 영구자석사이의 상대속도는 증가한 반면 부양 체와 바닷물사이의 상대변위는 작아짐을 알 수 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서 제안한 방법은 기존 방법에 비해 부양 체와 바닷물사이의 상대변위가 작기 때문에 극한 바다 주변 환경으로부터 부양 체의 안정성을 확보할 수 있고, 시시각각 변하는 주파수를 갖는 파도에너지로부터도 더 많은 운동에너지를 얻을 수 있는 장점을 가진다.

선형발전기가 탑재된 파랑에너지 추출장치 설계 -II. 선형발전기 (Design of Wave Energy Extractor with a Linear Electric Generator -Part II. Linear Generator)

  • 선형발전기가 연결된 부이의 수직운동에 대한 시간영역 해석을 수행하여 얻은 시계열 자료를 가지고 선형발전기를 설계하고 전기에너지 출력특성 및 효율에 대해 살펴보았다. 1차 변환장치로 원통형 부이를 선택하였고, 2차 변환장치로 양측식 할박(Halbach) 배열 영구자석 가동자와 철심형 슬롯리스(Slotless) 고정자로 구성된 선형발전기를 사용하였다. 시간영역에서 부이의 수직운동 속도와 파랑하중을 입력자료로 직선형 영구자석 발전기가 설계되었고, 설계된 발전기는 규칙파 조건에서 유한요소 해석법을 적용하여 발전특성해석을 수행함으로써, 그 타당성이 입증되었다. 또한 불규칙파 조건에서 합리적이고 빠른 해석을 위해, 등가회로법을 적용하여 발전특성 해석을 수행하였는데, 그 결과 역시 매우 타당함을 확인하였다.
