Communication technology of future networks is predicted to provide a large variety of services including WiFi service in vehicular network. In this paper, we assume that vehicles are embedded with WiMAX antenna and in-vehicle terminals receive WiMAX traffic through WiFi interface. This assumption will impose severe performance degradation due to interference among mobile BSSs when WiFi access points (APs) are densely located. Existing interference avoidance techniques cannot properly resolve the above problems and do not cope with dynamically moving vehicular scenario since they focus only on the fixed network topology. In this paper, we propose a mobility-aware interference avoidance scheme for WiFi services. The proposed scheme computes the interference duration by exploiting mobility vector and location information of neighboring APs. If the interference duration is not negligible, our scheme searches for another channel in order to avoid interference. However, if the interference duration is negligible, our scheme continues to use the channel to reduce switching overhead. To measure the effectiveness of the proposed scheme against other existing techniques, we evaluated performance by using OPNET simulator. Through the simulation, we obtained about 60% reduction in the maximum interference frequency and about 67% improvement in throughput. Furthermore, our scheme provides fair channel usage.
5G AgiLe and fLexible integration of SaTellite And cellulaR (5G-ALLSTAR) is a Korea-Europe (KR-EU) collaborative project for developing multi-connectivity (MC) technologies that integrate cellular and satellite networks to provide seamless, reliable, and ubiquitous broadband communication services and improve service continuity for 5G and beyond. The main scope of this project entails the prototype development of a millimeter-wave 5G New Radio (NR)-based cellular system, an investigation of the feasibility of an NR-based satellite system and its integration with cellular systems, and a study of spectrum sharing and interference management techniques for MC. This article reviews recent research activities and presents preliminary results and a plan for the proof of concept (PoC) of three representative use cases (UCs) and one joint KR-EU UC. The feasibility of each UC and superiority of the developed technologies will be validated with key performance indicators using corresponding PoC platforms. The final achievements of the project are expected to eventually contribute to the technical evolution of 5G, which will pave the road for next-generation communications.

Vehicular Ad-hoc Networks (VANETs) are comprised of wireless mobile nodes characterized by a randomly changing topology, high mobility, availability of geographic position, and fewer power constraints. Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) is a promising candidate for the physical layer of VANET because of the inherent characteristics of the spectral efficiency and robustness to channel impairments. The susceptibility of OFDM to Inter-Carrier Interference (ICI) is a challenging issue. The high mobility of nodes in VANET causes higher Doppler shifts, which results in ICI in the OFDM system. In this paper, a frequency domain com-btype channel estimation was used to cancel out ICI. The channel frequency response at the pilot tones was estimated using a Least Square (LS) estimator. An efficient interpolation technique is required to estimate the channel at the data tones with low interpolation error. This paper proposes a robust interpolation technique to estimate the channel frequency response at the data subcarriers. The channel induced noise tended to degrade the Bit Error Rate (BER) performance of the system. Parallel concatenated Convolutional codes were used for error correction. At the decoding end, different decoding algorithms were considered for the component decoders of the iterative Turbo decoder. A performance and complexity comparison among the various decoding algorithms was also carried out.

Most Vehicular Ad hoc Network (VANET) applications rely heavily on broadcast transmission of traffic related information to all reachable nodes within a certain geographical area. Among various broadcast approaches, flooding is the first broadcasting technique. Each node rebroadcasts the received message exactly once, which results in broadcast storm problems. Some mechanisms have been proposed to improve flooding in Mobile Ad hoc Networks (MANET), but they are not effective for VANET and only a few studies have addressed this issue. We propose two distance-based and timer-based broadcast suppression techniques: 15P(15percent) and slotted 15P. In the first (distance based) scheme, node's transmission range is divided into three ranges (80%,15%and5%). Only nodes within 15% range will rebroadcast received packet. Specific packet retransmission range (15%) is introduced to reduce the number of messages reforwarding nodes that will mitigate the broadcaststorm. In the second (timer-based) scheme, waiting time allocation for nodes within 15% range isused to significantly reduce the broadcaststorm. The proposed schemes are distributed and reliedon GPS information and do not requireany other prior knowledge about network topology. To analyze the performance of proposed schemes, statistics such as link load and the number of retransmitted nodes are presented. Our simulation results show that the proposed schemes can significantly reduce link load at high node densities up to 90 percent compared to a simple broadcast flooding technique.

Advancements in automobile industries and the communication technologies caused VANET (Vehicular Ad Hoc NETwork) to evolve to VANET-based clouds before its deployment. It is more likely that VANET clouds will replace the traditional VANET in the deployment phase. It is to be noted that an abrupt deployment is out of question because it would require mass of resources and money to do so; instead incremental deployment is more ideal. In this paper, we aim at the incremental deployment phase of VANET clouds and focus on the well-established public transport networks. Data aggregation is one of the essential aspects in traditional VANET and has been researched for quite long time. However the previously proposed schemes are still controversial. Keeping in mind the time and space prediction of public buses, we leverage these buses as potential aggregators and MG (Mobile Gateways) in VANET clouds. Buses gather cooperative whereabouts information from neighbors, aggregate that information, disseminate it to the neighbor MGs and also send it to the cloud for storage and for services exchange. In our proposed scheme, we believe that the dissemination will be effective and cover most of the urban area since at any instant of time; buses cover most part of the urban areas. Besides, the effective transmission range is higher due to tall buses.

Geo-graphical routing protocols as GPSR are known to be very suitable and useful for vehicular ad-hoc networks. However, a corresponding node can include some stale neighbor nodes being out of a transmission range, and the stale nodes are pone to get a high priority to be a next relay node in the greedy mode. In addition, some useful redundant information can be eliminated during planarization in the recovery mode. This paper deals with a new recovery mode, the Greedy Border Superiority Routing(GBSR), along with an Adaptive Neighbor list Management(ANM) scheme. Each node can easily treat stale nodes on its neighbor list by means of comparing previous and current Position of a neighbor. When a node meets the local maximum, it makes use of a border superior graph to recover from it. This approach improve the packet delivery ratio while it decreases the time to recover from the local maximum. We evaluate the performance of the proposed methods using a network simulator. The results shown that the proposed protocol reveals much better performance than GPSR protocol. Please Put the of paper here.

One of the most important VANET applications is providing active safety by broadcasting emergency messages. In order to prevent broadcast storm of flooding-based broadcasting scheme in which any node receiving message will rebroadcast, the existing protocols use the different methods to limit the number of relay nodes. Nevertheless, the existing protocols have low delivery ratio with high traffic density and cause message overhead. Currently, the dramatic increase in the number of vehicles equipped with Global Positioning System (GPS) and onboard radar created new application scenarios that were not feasible before. Consequently, we proposed a broadcasting protocol that selects relay node by using GPS-based position information and detecting neighboring vehicles with the help of onboard radar to. Simulation results show that our proposed protocol has better performance than the existing schemes.

A Vehicular Ad-Hoc Network (VANET) is form of the Mobile Ad-hoc Network (MANET) to provide temporary communication among vehicles via wireless links. In VANET, the vehicle is one of the nodes in networks and communicates with each other. However, the wireless links disconnect very frequently, because vehicles have mobility and move freely. The reason why data accessibility degrades is that disconnection occurs frequently. To improve data accessibility, data replica allocation methods that made group to allocate data replica have proposed in MANET. However, those are not suitable because it is difficult to maintain stable links among the nodes moving fast by centralized group. In this paper, we proposed TBG (Tree Based Grouping) to allocate data replica with the distributed grouping method. Each node has own TBG and allocates data replica based on stability of links to improve data accessibility. The experiment demonstrates that the proposed method outperforms traditional methods in term of data accessibility.

Recently, research on mobile edge services has been conducted to handle computationally intensive and latency-sensitive tasks occurring in wireless networks. However, MEC, which is fixed on the ground, cannot flexibly cope with situations where task processing requests increase sharply, such as commuting time. To solve this problem, a technology that provides edge services using UAVs (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles) has emerged. Unlike ground MEC servers, UAVs have limited battery capacity, so it is necessary to optimize energy efficiency through load balancing between UAV MEC servers. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a load balancing technique with consideration of the energy state of UAVs and the mobility of vehicles. The proposed technique is composed of task offloading scheme using genetic algorithm and task migration scheme using Q-learning. To evaluate the performance of the proposed technique, experiments were conducted with varying mobility speed and number of vehicles, and performance was analyzed in terms of load variance, energy consumption, communication overhead, and delay constraint satisfaction rate.

Recently, there has been a fast paradigm shift in the automotive market from the traditional machine-oriented technology into the technology for vehicle informatics and electronics. In particular, telematics market is accelerating the development of technologies for vehicle informatics through the close cooperation between the vehicle makers and mobile communication companies. However, there may be the degradation of the quality of service by the interference since the telematics uses the wireless communication infrastructure for the base station-to-vehicle communication and the vehicle-to-vehicle communication. This paper presents an analysis device to easily analyze the interference by the wireless communication in the vehicle wireless network environment. Using the analysis results by the presented device, this paper shows that the link quality can be improved through the simulation and the experiment in real environment both.
