  • Recently car navigation systems which have been widely spread and evolved. The systems use various information and techniques such as real time traffic information and augmented reality technique. In order to provide a shortest path with good flow, real-time traffic information provided by DMB is required. Augmented reality technique is also introduced to give a reality to driver by displaying real images captured by camera during driving. However, these operate well when the system receives GPS data normally. Exact information about the positions of vehicles is a base that supports the above function with realities. This paper proposes a model for acquiring exact position of vehicles. When the GPS does not operate normally, the proposed model uses various data which are generated by integrated vehicle networks.

An obstacle avoidance system of an unmanned aerial vehicle using a laser range finder

  • Recently, unmanned aircrafts for safe measurement in hazardous locations have been developed. In a method of operation of unmanned aircraft vehicles (UAV), there are two methods of manual control and automatic control. Small UAVs are used for low altitude surveillance flights where unknown obstacles can be encountered. Obstacle avoidance is one of the most challenging tasks which the UAV has to perform with high level of accuracy. In this study, we used a laser range finder as an obstacle detector in automatic navigation of unmanned aircraft to patrol the destination automatically. We proposed a system to avoid obstacles automatically by measuring the angle and distance of the obstacle using the laser range finder.

  • The problem of motion control for AUV (Autonomous Underwater Vehicles) is addressed. The utilization of such robotic vehicles has gained an increasing importance in many marine activities. In this paper the objective is to describe how to design and apply FGS (Fuzzy Gain Scheduling) PD (Proportional Derivative) controller for an AUV (Autonomous Underwater Vehicle) to control the yaw and depth of the vehicle by keeping the path of the navigation to a desired point, and/or changing the path according to a set point.

  • It is necessary to distance measurement to detect about obstacles and front vehicles to autonomously navigate. In this paper, we propose an algorithm using stereo vision. It is as follows this algorithm´s procedure. First, It has detected a front vehicle´s common edges from left and right images by image processing. We select number plate of a front vehicle as edges. Then, we estimate distance by triangle measurement method after stereomatching using corner points of the plate´s edges as feature-based points. Experimental results show errors and values compand with experimental ones after set up distance between vehicles in advance.

  • In this paper, the authors present a row dynamic route planning by Q-learning. The proposed algorithm is executed in a cellular automation based traffic simulator, which is also newly created. In Vehicle Information and Communication System(VICS), which is an active field of Intelligent Transport System(ITS), information of traffic congestion is sent to each vehicle at real time. However, a centralized navigation system is not realistic to guide millions of vehicles in a megalopolis. Autonomous distributed systems should be more flexible and scalable, and also have a chance to focus on each vehicles demand. In such systems, each vehicle can search an own optimal route. We employ Q-learning of the reinforcement learning method to search an optimal or sub-optimal route, in which route drivers can avoid traffic congestions.   • Recently, autonomous vehicles have been studied actively. Autonomous vehicles can detect objects around them using their on board sensors, estimate collision probability and maneuver to avoid colliding with objects. Many algorithms are suggested to prevent collision avoidance. However there are limitations of complex and diverse environments because algorithm uses only the information of attached environmental sensors and mainly depends on TTC (time-to-Collision) parameter. In this paper, autonomous driving algorithm using I2V communication-based cooperative sensing information is developed to cope with complex and diverse environments through sensor fusion of objects information from infrastructure camera and object information from equipped sensors. The cooperative sensing based autonomous driving algorithm is implemented in autonomous shuttle bus and the proposed algorithm proved to be able to improve the autonomous navigation technology effectively.

  • In this study, to identify the ineffectiveness of inter-connected system of cargo volume between the Pusan Port and inland areas and also to make more rational suggestions, the following conclusions were drawn by analyzing Container Cargo Traffic from BCTOC to Off-Dock CY: 1. There existed about 30% to 50% reduction in the container transport times when the container transport vehicles were operated during the off-peak period to alleviate the traffic congestion due to mixed traffic. 2. There appeared to be more economic when Off-Dock DY's scattered around the City of Pusan were unified in one ODCY Unit at YangSan, and the Exclusive Overpass Freeway System for the container transport vehicles were constructed and operated on the existing Urban Freeway from BCTOC ti this ODCY Unit (Expected to make about 230 billions Won in net present value by NPV method).

Survey on Developing Path Planning for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (무인비행체 경로계획 기술 동향)

  • Recent advancements in autonomous flight technologies for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) have greatly expanded their applicability for various tasks, including delivery, agriculture, and rescue. This article presents a comprehensive survey of path planning techniques in autonomous navigation and exploration that are tailored for UAVs. The robotics literature has studied path and motion planning, from basic obstacle avoidance to sophisticated algorithms capable of dynamic decision-making in challenging environments. In this article, we introduce popular path and motion planning approaches such as grid-based, sampling-based, and optimization-based planners. We further describe the contributions from the state-of-the-art in exploration planning for UAVs, which have been derived from these well-studied planners. Recent research, including the method we are developing, has improved performance in terms of efficiency and scalability for exploration tasks in challenging environments without human intervention. On the basis of these research and development trends, this article discusses future directions in UAV path planning technologies, illustrating the potential for UAVs to perform complex tasks with increased autonomy and efficiency.

Receiving System Design of ILS Navigation Signal Using SDR (SDR을 이용한 ILS 항행신호 수신 시스템 설계)

  • Accurate guidance during landing and take-off is important, and instrument landing system (ILS) has been used for stability and verification. Regular inspections are conducted for stable operation, and there is research to perform inspection using drones in addition to ground vehicles and measurement aircraft. Using SDR and single board computer, which can receive wide frequency range, we designed a small system that receives and processes localizer signals through GNU Radio. To check signal processing characteristics through GNU Radio, we simulated with MATLAB Simulink and confirmed the theoretical values. Difference in depth of modulation (DDM) and approach angle can be calculated when the aircraft enters the runway. And GNU Radio implemented real-time signal processing wirelessly using transmission control protocol (TCP). This gives the results within the error of 0.5% when the aircraft entered the runway center line and 0.27% for the angle of 1° degree. Compared to the inspecting and maintaining ILS signals using aircraft or ground vehicles, it is possible to implement a receiving system using small SDR that can be mounted for drone.

  • Loran-C of ground transmitting station base that can prevent confusion of country navigation system and give BACK-UP function about electric wave navigation comparing utilization incapability state about GPS(Global Positioning System) infra that user is spreading rapidly over our society whole such as sea/aviation safety, vehicles navigation, minuteness agriculture, minuteness measurement in this treatise practical use of Loran-C navigation propose. Executed ASF(Additional Secondary Phase Factor) production and an application experiment Loran-C by location error improvement way to enhance practical use value. By the result Loran-C in conclusion that can improve location error 100~400m remarkably by 10~65m reach. Also, production extent is latitude when go composition medium and bends cotton at ASF revision table utilization of land area, this smell is judged to be suitable hardness 10 minutes. And notable location error improvement and numeric of GPS BACK-UP function are judged to be possible at a ASF revision table application to Korea Peninsula whole area hereafter.
