  • Polymeric nanoparticles are widely used for drug delivery due to their biodegradability property. Among the wide array of polymers, chitosan has received growing interest among researchers. It was widely used as a vehicle in polymeric nanoparticles for drug targeting. This review explored the current research on the antimicrobial activity of chitosan nanoparticles (ChNP) and the impact on the clinical applications. The antimicrobial activities of ChNP were widely reported against bacteria, fungi, yeasts and algae, in both in vivo and in vitro studies. For pharmaceutical applications, ChNP were used as antimicrobial coating for promoting wound healing, preventing infections and combating the rise of infectious disease. Besides, ChNP also exhibited significant inhibitory activities on foodborne microorganisms, particularly on fruits and vegetables. It is noteworthy that ChNP can be also applied to deliver antimicrobial drugs, which further enhance the efficiency and stability of the antimicrobial agent. The present review addresses the potential antimicrobial applications of ChNP from these few aspects.

  • The purpose of this study is to verify the stable flight conditions of drones within a limited urban area by using the ICAO(International Civil Aviation Organization) reich model which is using to evaluate civil aircraft stability. The results of the study are summarized as follows. First, in order for the drones flying stably, the horizontal safety separation distance between a drone and another should be at least 1,852M. Second, assuming that no obstacles within 1,852M of horizontal space, two drones can be fly into upper and lower spaces. However there are obstacles such as buildings, it is impossible to secure a 1,852M distance between drones. Third, sensitivity analysis point out that the separation interval($s_x$) of drone aviation has the greatest influence on the TLS(Target Level of Safety). If future research is conducted to lower the numerical values, the safety distance between a drone and another drone will be drastically reduced, allowing more detailed urban space division, and will be presented as a scientific numerical value for establishing a dedicated path for the drones.

  • Real-Time Kinematic (RTK) is a phase-based differential GNSS technique and uses additional observations from permanent reference stations to mitigate or eliminate effects like atmospheric delays or satellite clocks and orbit errors. In particular, as the position accuracy required in the fields of autonomous vehicles and drones is gradually increasing, the demand for RTK-based precise navigation that can provide cm-level position is increasing. Recently, with the rapid growth of the open-source software market, the use of open-source software for building navigation system of unmanned vehicles, which is difficult to mount an expensive GNSS receivers, is gradually increasing. RTKLIB is an open-source software package that can perform RTK positioning and is widely used for research and education purposes. However, since the performance and stability of RTK algorithm of RTKLIB is inevitably inferior to that of commercial GNSS receivers, users need to verify whether RTKLIB can satisfy the navigation performance requirements of unmanned vehicles. Therefore, in this paper, the performance evaluation of the RTK positioning algorithm of RTKLIB was performed using GNSS observation data acquired in a dynamic environment. Therefore, in this paper, the RTK positioning performance of RTKLIB was evaluated using GNSS observation data acquired in a dynamic environment. Our results show that the current RTK algorithm of RTKLIB is not suitable for precise navigation of unmanned vehicles.

  • In this paper, we propose a formation control algorithm for multi-USVs according to COLREGs. First, we applied the Dynamic Window Approach algorithm that can reflect the kinematic characteristics for the path movement of USVs. Then, we propose a virtual structure-based virtual leader-follower method that applies the advantages of leader-follower and virtual structure methods among conventional formation control algorithms for stability. Next, we proposed a collision avoidance algorithm according to all COLREGs when encountering an opposing ship by adding COLREGs situational conditions to the virtual leader, and finally confirmed the feasibility of the proposed method through simulation.

  • Covalent organic frameworks (COFs) are porous crystalline polymers in which organic units are linked by covalent bonds and have a regular arrangement at the atomic level. Recently, the COFs have been much attention in bio-medical area such as bio-imaging, drug delivery, and therapeutics. These 2D nanoparticles are proving their value in nanomedicine due to their large surface area, functionalization through functional groups exposed on the surface, chemical stability due to covalent bonding, and high biocompatibility. The high ω-electron density and crystallinity of COFs makes it a promising candidate for bioimaging probes, and its porosity and large surface area make it possible to be utilized as a drug delivery vehicle. However, the low dispersibility in water, the cytotoxicity problems of COFs are still challenged to be solved in the future. In this regard, several efforts that increase the degree of dispersion through functionalization on the surface of COFs for the application to the biomedical field have been reported. In this review, we would like to describe the advantages and limitations of COFs for bio-imaging and anti-cancer treatment.

  • This study targets the rechargeable battery industry, which has been rapidly growing recently. The rechargeable battery industry is closely related to the electric vehicle industry. However, other factors also influence it. Currently, rechargeable battery companies show a pattern of restructuring production space by various means. To determine the causes of these production spaces, the factors affecting regional and national scales were thoroughly examined. As a result, the location factors for rechargeable battery-related companies are determined by cooperative relationships with assembled car companies, government policy regulations, and the stability of supply of key materials. And a spatial strategy was implemented to make the most of these circumstances.

In particular, the next-generation MLCC with extremely high reliability is required for the 4th industrial revolution and electric vehicle applications. Therefore, it is necessary to develop dielectric ceramic materials with high dielectric properties and reliability. During the decades, electrical properties of BaTiO3 based dielectric ceramics, which have been widely used in MLCC industrial field, have been improved by microstructure and defect chemistry control. However, electrical properties of BaTiO3 have reached their limits, and new types of dielectric materials have been widely studied. Based on these backgrounds, this report presents the recent development trends of BaTiO3-based dielectric materials for the next-generation MLCCs, and suggests promising candidates to replace BaTiO3 ceramics.

  • This paper describes the development of a test-equipment for the pre-verification of navigation performance in cluster-based AUVs (Autonomous Underwater Vehicle). In the development of an AUV, conducting hardware and software development sequentially is not efficient due to the limited research and development period. Therefore, in order to reduce the overall development time and achieve successful development results, it is essential to pre-validate the navigation system and navigation algorithms. Accordingly, this paper explains the test-equipment for pre-verification of navigation performance, and ultimately confirms the stability of the navigation system and the performance of the navigation algorithms through the analysis of five types of navigation sensor data stored during real-sea experiments. The results demonstrate that through the development and verification of the test-equipment, it is possible to shorten the overall development period and improvement of product quality in the process of developing multiple AUVs.

  • Radar is an essential sensor component in autonomous vehicles, and the market for radar applications in this context is steadily expanding with a growing variety of products. In this study, we aimed to enhance the stability and performance of radar systems by developing and evaluating a radar performance prediction model that can predict radar defects. We selected seven machine learning and deep learning algorithms and trained the model with a total of 49 input data types. Ultimately, when we employed an ensemble of 17 models, it exhibited the highest performance. We anticipate that these research findings will assist in predicting product defects at the production stage, thereby maximizing production yield and minimizing the costs associated with defective products.
