  • A pedestrian accident is generally less fully understood than the 'typical' car-to-car collision. For this reason, the analysis of the pedestrian accident is, in many respects, more complicated and demanding. The purpose of this study is to identify clearly the impact point that is the main subject of struggle in pedestrian accidents. In order to develop the model, it is very significant to classify actual accident data including impact velocity. vehicle damage and injury scale of pedestrian. These data were collected from three local branches of RTSA(Road Traffic Safely Authority). The number of collected data were 34 cases and 61.7% of them were fatal accidents. In consequence of analyzing the data by statistical method, it revealed that there is correlation between impact velocity and throw distance. It, also shows that the impact velocity has strong linear correlation to vehicle damage and injury scale. Consequently, reconstruction analysis models of pedestrian accidents considering in local circumstances(such as the physical characteristics of pedestrians and vehicles) was developed However. it is difficult to apply the result of this study to all sorts of pedestrian accidents, because the actual accident data which were used to develop the model were limited. To overcome this limitation, it is necessary to develop an analysis model applicable to diverse circumstances with a wide range of pedestrian accident data on a national basis.

  • Objectives: The aim of this study was to examine the antithrombotic effects of the four herbal ingredients (Mume Fructus, MF; Santali Albi Lignum, SAL; Amomi Tsao-Ko Fructus, ATF; and Amomi Fructus, AF) of modified Jeho-tang (MJHT) in a ferric chloride ($FeCl_3$)-induced carotid arterial thrombosis model. Methods: Thirty minutes prior to a 35% $FeCl_3$ application, Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats were injected with saline, MF, SAL, ATF or AF (100 mg/kg, intraperitoneal injection), respectively. The effect of the MJHT ingredients was examined for time to occlusion (TTO) and thrombus weight (TW) in a $FeCl_3$-induced thrombosis model. Histological analysis was performed to examine the effect of the MJHT ingredients on collagen fiber damage using hematoxylin & eosin and Masson's trichrome staining. Results: Compared with vehicle treatment, MF, SAL and ATF treatment delayed TTO (vehicle, $8.11{\pm}0.60$ min; MF, $16.67{\pm}1.03$ min; SAL, $17.50{\pm}1.52$ min and ATF, $13.33{\pm}1.21$ min; P < 0.001) and inhibited thrombus formation (vehicle, $0.79{\pm}0.03$ mg/mm; MF, $0.61{\pm}0.07$ mg/mm; SAL, $0.57{\pm}0.03$ mg/mm and ATF, $0.72{\pm}0.02$ mg/mm; P < 0.001). In addition, each herbal ingredient of MJHT except for AF prevented the collagen fiber damage induced by a 35% $FeCl_3$ application. These results indicate that the MJHT ingredients MF ${\geq}$ SAL ${\geq}$ ATF ${\geq}$ AF possess antithrombotic activity in a $FeCl_3$-induced carotid arterial thrombosis. Conclusions: Altogether, these results are the first evidence that the MJHT ingredients MF, SAL and ATF have the ability to prevent vascular damage and thrombus formation in $FeCl_3$-induced carotid arterial thrombosis.

  • Personal Rapid Transit (PRT) is the emerging personal transport vehicle operating on the loop automatically. The PRT system utilize the electrical power from super capacity or battery, it is important to manage the power or energy. In this regards, the management of high temperature occurred by the operation of system is significantly important to prevent from serious damage of component. In this study, we studied the adequate shape of underbody which can reduce the heat accumulation by pickup coil and condenser using natural air cooling. We suggested the additional air pathway, air inlet and flow separator to decrease the temperature of the heat source components. It was found that suggested system can decrease the temperature of PRT under body by 16% during the static mode and by 10% during the running mode at 30km/h. It is expected that the findings of this study will feed into final design of newly built Korean PRT vehicle.

  • The chassis of the Korean light tactical vehicle adopts a frame-on-body structure that uses lightweight design technology in terms of equipment operating characteristics. Military vehicles are operated in much harsher conditions compared to civilian vehicles, including mountainous terrain, especially steep slopes. Due to this characteristic, frame-welded cracks were found on some military vehicles. Therefore, in this paper, road damage analysis was conducted by identifying various roads including the military unit's road. The result confirmed that the operating environment of some military units' tactical road was much harsher than the endurance road test condition. A solution was derived through defect analysis, design review, and actual vehicle driving test. This study can be used as a reference by suggesting the development direction for the durability test of a new vehicle.

  • Vehicle classification system in domestic tollgates is usually to use treadle sensor for calculating wheel width and tread of the vehicle. due to the impact that occurs when the wheels of the vehicle contact, treadle sensor requires high durability. recently, KHC(Korea Highway Corporation) began operating high-speed lane for cargo truck. high-speed cargo truck generate more impact the design criteria of previous treadle. therefore, an increase in the maintenance and management costs of the treadle damage is concerned. In this paper, we propose an algorithm for obtaining optimal wheel width and tread using non-contact treadle sensor that been improved durability from physical impacts. for the verification of the proposed algorithm, a field test was performed using 1/2/3/6 class vehicles based on the KHC's classification criteria. through this experiments, maximum error of the width and the tread is each ${\pm}2cm$ and ${\pm}8cm$, also the accuracy was measured as 98%, 97% or more, and proved that the proposed algorithm valid on to apply to the vehicle classification system.

  • The recent earthquake of Pohang (M5.4) and the Gyeongju earthquake (M5.8) suggested the possibility of a strong earthquake in Korea and reminded us that the Korea is no longer an earthquake-safe zone. In the disaster recovery stage in a disaster like an earthquake, the investigation of the damage situation and the safety assessment of the building serve to provide important information for the initial action such as establishment of the recovery strategy and rescue of the survivor. However, the research that depends on manpower can not cope with the difficulty of processing a large number of doses in a short time, and the expertise of the manpower must be taken into consideration, which may result in delayed initial action. In this study, we propose an rapid safety evaluation technique of building using unmanned aerial vehicle which evaluates the performance and safety of buildings by integrating conventional safety inspection method with unmanned aerial vehicle technology and developed evaluation method of each evaluation factor. In order to verify this, the buildings damaged by the earthquake in Pohang were checked and compared using this system. The results are consistent with the results of the existing emergency earthquake risk assessment. As a result, the possibility of checking the emergency safety using the unmanned aerial vehicle for the damaged structures in case of a large-scale disaster such as an earthquake was confirmed.

  • This research proposes a novel approach to tackle the challenge of categorizing unstructured customer complaints in the automotive industry. The goal is to identify potential vehicle defects based on the findings of our algorithm, which can assist automakers in mitigating significant losses and reputational damage caused by mass claims. To achieve this goal, our model uses the Word2Vec method to analyze large volumes of unstructured customer complaint data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). By developing a score dictionary for eight pre-selected criteria, our algorithm can efficiently categorize complaints and detect potential vehicle defects. By calculating the score of each complaint, our algorithm can identify patterns and correlations that can indicate potential defects in the vehicle. One of the key benefits of this approach is its ability to handle a large volume of unstructured data, which can be challenging for traditional methods. By using machine learning techniques, we can extract meaningful insights from customer complaints, which can help automakers prioritize and address potential defects before they become widespread issues. In conclusion, this research provides a promising approach to categorize unstructured customer complaints in the automotive industry and identify potential vehicle defects. By leveraging the power of machine learning, we can help automakers improve the quality of their products and enhance customer satisfaction. Further studies can build upon this approach to explore other potential applications and expand its scope to other industries.

  • The aim of this study is to evaluate the possibility of damage to cultural assets resulting from vibrations generated by construction vehicle traffic. The cultural heritage's natural vibration frequency was determined to be 150Hz by measurement. The damping ratios were calculated as 4.7% using the logarithmic decrement approach and 4.3% using the half-power method. The vibration measurements obtained during vehicle operation indicated that, despite an increase in vehicle velocity of up to 15 km/h, the vibrations remained below the detectable level of 0.13 mm/sec. When the road is curved and the terrain is sloped, a suitable speed for vehicle operation was found to be around 17 km/h, at which point vibrations were seen. The highest recorded vibration amplitude at this velocity was 0.217 mm/sec, which remains below the stringent regulation limit of 2 mm/sec. Thus, it can be concluded that there is no actual harm caused by vibrations.

  • A high-speed train is the system that the electric power is supplied through the overhead contact line and drives motors. In this case that the de-wiring beteen the overhead contact line and the pantograph of a high-speed train, the occasion that smooth power supply is not accomplished occurs sometimes. If the de-wiring occurs, the arc discharge may damage the overhead contact line or the pantograph, and the falling-off in power quality may cause the damage and malfunctioning of motor block. This paper presents the methodology that the arc discharge by de-wring between overhead line and pantograph is discriminated through measuring the PT and CT in the vehicle, and measures the current collection characteristics for a high speed train.
