We propose a visible light road-to-vehicle communication system at intersection as one of ITS technique. In this system, the communication between vehicle and a LED traffic light is approached using LED traffic light as a transmitter, and on-vehicle high-speed camera as a receiver. The LEDs in the transmitter are emitted in 500Hz and those emitting LEDs are captured by a high-speed camera for making communication. Here, the luminance value of each LED in the transmitter should be found for consecutive frames to achieve effective communication. For this purpose, first the transmitter should be identified, then it should be tracked for consecutive frames while the vehicle is moving, by processing the images from the high-speed camera. In our previous work, the transmitter was identified by getting the subtraction of two consecutive frames. In this paper, we mainly introduce an algorithm to track the identified transmitter in consecutive frames. Experimental results using appropriate images showed the effectiveness of the proposal.

This paper presents and implements a vehicle speed measurement system using a license plate recognition system and a stereo camera. Using the feature points of the license plate recognition system, the disparity information is extracted and then the distance to the feature points is calculated by using the disparity information. In this paper, a vehicle speed is measured using the adjacent distances from consecutive stereo images and the corresponding time of the distances. Actual vehicle speed is also measured using the reference measurement equipment (tape switch based system) in order to test the accuracy of the proposed speed measurement system. The implemented stereo based speed measurement system shows appropriate result within specification both in the daytime and nighttime experiments.

The final step of driving a car is parking, which is the most difficult part for people learning to drive. Parking in narrow parking spaces is difficult for both ordinary drivers and beginners. To solve this problem, the development of SPAS (Smart Parking Assist System), ACC (Automatic Control System) improves the convenience of drivers. In addition, parking assistance systems have been developed to recognize more accurately the surrounding environment to the driver using the ultrasound, camera, thermal camera, and radar. This paper proposes the reverse turning radius to process images as if the camera is located in the center of the vehicle regardless of the actual camera position. In addition, it generates the parking guidelines through verification using the vehicle.

In this paper, the method for an effective and intelligent route decision of the automatic ground vehicle (AGV) using a 2D spatial map of the stereo camera system is proposed. The depth information and disparity map are detected in the inputting images of a parallel stereo camera. The distance between the automatic moving robot and the obstacle detected and the 2D spatial map obtained from the location coordinates, and then the relative distance between the obstacle and the other objects obtained from them. The AGV moves automatically by effective and intelligent route decision using the obtained 2D spatial map. From some experiments on robot driving with 480 frames of the stereo images, it is analyzed that error ratio between the calculated and measured values of the distance between the objects is found to be very low value of 1.57% on average, respectably.

An autonomous vehicle requires a technology of generating maps by recognizing surrounding environment. The recognition of the vehicle's environment can be achieved by using distance information from a 2D laser scanner and color information from a camera. Such sensor information is used to generate 2D or 3D maps. A 2D map is used mostly for generating routs, because it contains information only about a section. In contrast, a 3D map involves height values also, and therefore can be used not only for generating routs but also for finding out vehicle accessible space. Nevertheless, an autonomous vehicle using 3D maps has difficulty in recognizing environment in real time. Accordingly, this paper proposes the technology for generating 2D maps that guarantee real-time recognition. The proposed technology uses only the color information obtained by removing height values from 3D maps generated based on the fusion of 2D laser scanner and camera data.
In this study, an FPGA-based sealer inspection system was developed to inspect the sealer applied to install vehicle glass on a car body. The sealer is a liquid or paste-like material that promotes adhesion such as sealing and waterproofing for mounting and assembling vehicle parts to a car body. The system installed in the existing vehicle design parts line does not detect the sealer in the glass rotation section and takes a long time to process. This study developed a line laser camera sensor and an FPGA vision signal processing module to solve this problem. The line laser camera sensor was developed such that the resolution and speed of the camera for data acquisition could be modified according to the irradiation angle of the laser. Furthermore, it was developed considering the mountability of the entire system to prevent interference with the sealer ejection machine. In addition, a vision signal processing module was developed using the Zynq-7020 FPGA chip to improve the processing speed of the algorithm that converted the profile to the sealer shape image acquired from a 2D camera and calculated the width and height of the sealer using the converted profile. The performance of the developed sealer application inspection system was verified by establishing an experimental environment identical to that of an actual automobile production line. The experimental results confirmed the performance of the sealer application inspection at a level that satisfied the requirements of automotive field standards.

Improving current pasture productivity by precision management requires practical tools to collect site specific pasture biomass data. Recent developments in unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) technology provide cost effective and real time applications for site specific data collection. For the mapping of herbage biomass (BM) on a hill pasture, we tested a UAV system with digital cameras (visible and near-infrared (NIR) camera). The field measurements were conducted on the grazing hill pasture at Hanwoo Improvement Office, Seosan City, Chungcheongnam-do Province, Korea on May 17 and June 27, 2014. Plant samples were obtained from 28 sites. A UAV system was used to obtain aerial photos from a height of approximately 50 m (approximately 30 cm spatial resolution). Normalized digital number (DN) values of Red and NIR channels were extracted from the aerial photos and a normalized differential vegetation index using DN ($NDVI_{dn}$) was calculated. The results show that the correlation coefficient between BM and $NDVI_{dn}$ was 0.88. For the precision management of hilly grazing pastures, UAV monitoring systems can be a quick and cost effective tool to obtain site-specific herbage BM data.
This paper deals with an unmanned vehicle system configuration using all terrain vehicle. Many research institutes and university study and develop unmanned vehicle system and control algorithm. Now a day, they try to apply unmanned vehicle to use military device and explore space and deep sea. These unmanned vehicles can help us to work is difficult task and approach. In the previous research of unmanned vehicle in our lab, we used 1/10 scale radio control vehicle and composed the unmanned vehicle system using ultrasonic sensors, CCD camera and kinds of sensor for vehicle's motion control. We designed lane detecting algorithm using vision system and obstacle detecting and avoidance algorithm using ultrasonic sensor and infrared ray sensor. As the system is increased, it is hard to compose the system on the 1/10 scale RC car. So we have to choose a new vehicle is bigger than 1/10 scale RC car but it is smaller than real size vehicle. ATV(all terrain vehicle) and real size vehicle have similar structure and its size is smaller. In this research, we make unmanned vehicle using ATV and explain control theory of each component
In autonomous driving cars, 3D pose estimation can be one of the effective methods to enhance safety control for OOP (Out of Position) passengers. There have been many studies on human pose estimation using a camera. Previous methods, however, have limitations in automotive applications. Due to unexplainable failures, CNN methods are unreliable, and other methods perform poorly. This paper proposes robust real-time multi-human 3D pose estimation architecture in vehicle using monocular RGB camera. Using particle filter, our approach integrates CNN 2D/3D pose measurements with available information in vehicle. Computer simulations were performed to confirm the accuracy and robustness of the proposed algorithm.
