Objectives: The purpose of this study w8s to investigate the experience rate and point prevalence and factors related with Low Back Pain(LBP) in men workers for the manufacturing industry. Methods: Questionnaires were completed by 97 men workers for 1 vehicle company in Taegu city in September 6-26, 2000. The information was used to estimate odds ratio and $95\%$ confidence intervals fur the LBP related factors association. Results: The experience rate for LBP was $67.0\%$. point prevalence was $14.4\%$. Variables significantly associated with LBP were weight(p=0.052) and smoking(p=0.010). $57\%$ for patients with LBP was higher than 50.095 far without in normal weight. whereas $43.0\%$ for patients with LBP was smaller than $50.0\%$ for without in overweight. $73.8\%$ for patients with smoking increased than $46.9\%$ for smokers without in smoking. The experience for LBP increased as weight increased(Odds ratio=2.923). As subjects are getting older. experience increased(Odds ratio= 1.393). The higher subjects had experienced stress, the higher experience for LBP was(Odds ratio= 1.328), however all three variables had no significant relationship. Conclusions: Results from this study indicated that a statistically significant association between LBP and weight. smoking in X2-test. In logistic regression test, there were no related variables.

An aluminum or CFRP (Carbon Fiber ReinfDrced Plastics)is representative one of light-weight materials but its axial collapse mechanism is different from each other. The aluminum member absorbs energy by stable plastic deformation, while the CFRP member absorbs energy by unstable brittle failure with higher specific strength and stiffness than those in the aluminum member. In an attempt to achieve a synergy effect by combining the two members, aluminum CFRP compound square members were manufactured, which are composed of aluminum members wrapped with CFRP outside aluminum square members with different fiber orientation angle and thickness of CFRP, and axial collapse tests were performed fur the members. The axial collapse characteristics of the compound members were analyzed and compared with those of the respective aluminum members and CFRP members. Test results showed that the collapse of the aluminum CFRP compound member complemented unstable brittle failure of the CFRP member due to ductile characteristics of the inner aluminum member. The collapse modes were categorized into four modes under the iuluence of the fiber orientation angle and thickness of CFRP. The absorbed energy Per unit mass, which is in the light-weight aspect was higher in the aluminum CFRP compound member than that in the aluminum member and the CFRP member alone.

Melatonin is secreted during the hours of darkness and is thought to influence the circadian and seasonal timing of a variety of physiological processes. Serotonin N-acetyltransferase (AA-NAT) which is found to be expressed in pineal gland, retina, and various tissues, catalyses the conversion of serotonin to N-acetylserotonin and is known as the rate-limiting enzyme in the biosynthetic pathway of melatonin. The compounds that modulate the activity of AA-NAT can be used to treat serotonin-and melatonin-related diseases such as insomnia, depression and seasonal affective disorders (SAD). Several assay methods have been developed by which to measure AA-NAT activity. We have also developed a simple, rapid and sensitive AA-NAT assay method that takes advantage of differences in the organic solubilities between acetyl CoA and N-acetyltryptamine. We screened modulators of AA-NAT activity from the water extracts of the medicinal plants. We found MNP1005 which strongly inhibited the activity of AA-NAT ($IC_{50}$=2.2$\mu$M). Enzyme inhibitory kinetic studies revealed that MNP1005 exhibited a noncompetitive inhibition toward tryptamine. The antidepressant effect of MNP1005 was investigated on behavioral despair test so called forced swimming test (FST). MNP1005 significantly increased swimming behavior by reducing immobility with treatment of 10 mg/kg when compared to the vehicle-treated control group (P < 0.05). This suggests that MNP1005 possesses antidepressant activity. The influence of chronic MNP1005 treatment on the expression of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) was examined by in situ hybridization and Northern blot. Chronic treatment of MNP1005 blocked the downregulation of BDNF mRNA in the frontal cortex and other cortex regions in response to restraint stress.
This study is aimed to investigate the US code and European code on the evaluation of fuel economy of natural gas vehicles and deduce the formula suitable for domestic natural gas fuel. The fuel consumption formula have been derived by carbon balance relation between fuel composition and exhaust emission. The US code does not limit the composition of the test gas, but European code should be used the reference gases such as G20 and G23. In the case of NGV using domestic city gas, it is confirmed that the fuel economy determined by European code is 12% worse than that of US code because of difference of test gas. Also, a method of determining the fuel properties from the calorific value is proposed to evaluate the fuel economy of natural gas vehicles.
Acoustic and vibration research activities for the structural development of Korean space launch vehicles are introduced in this paper. Various dynamic loads exerted on a launch vehicle during its operation are summarized. The acoustical design method of payload fairings which protect satellites from harsh launch environment was reviewed. Several acoustic research activities were performed to enhance the analytical prediction ability during the development period of the Naro and the Nuri launcher. Specifically, the following research activities are reviewed: a test and vibro-acoustic analysis of composite cylinders whose layup properties are varied, a research on low-frequency acoustic load reduction by an acoustic resonator array and an acoustic test on the cylinder part of the Naro payload fairing. A vibro-acoustic analysis result for the Nuri launcher was introduced and predicted acoustic and vibration levels and measured ones are shown to be in a good agreement.

A ground hot-firing test was conducted to take out the optimal design configurations for the catalyst bed of liquid-monopropellant hydrazine thruster which could be used for primary engine or attitude control thruster of space vehicles. Performance characteristics with the variation of thrust-chamber length are investigated in terms of thrust, specific impulse, chamber pressure, characteristic velocity, and hydrazine decomposition rate. Additionally, the correlations between propellant-supply pressure and performance parameters are given. As results, increase of catalyst-bed length leads to performance degradation in this test condition, and also decreases propellant consumption efficiency with the supply pressure variation.

Personal Rapid Transit(PRT), which is one of the next generation convergence transport technology, PRT system requires operation technology for controlling diverse vehicles and dealing with a variety of abnormal driving situations on a large scale trackway structures in expected operational area more efficiently and reliably. Before developing PRT control technology, it is essential that multiple testing procedures stepwise with building small scale test-tracks and develop real unmanned-vehicles. However, it is expected that the experiments demand huge amount of time and physical cost. Thus, simulation in virtual environment is efficient to develop wireless based control technology for multiple PRT vehicles prior to building real-test environment. In this paper, we propose a VR-based integrated simulator which physics engine is applied so that it enables simulation of front-wheel-steering PRT system rather than simple rail track system. The proposed simulator is also developed that it can reflect geographical features, infrastructures and network topology of expected driving region.

Recently, due to the increasing interests in deep sea development, all possible efforts to the development of underwater unmanned working vehicles such as AUV(Autonomous Underwater Vehicle) or underwater robot are exerted. This paper proposes a new efficient acoustic-based underwater image data communication system, which ensures a certain level of maximum throughput regardless of the propagation delay of ultrasonic and allowsfast data transmission through the multiple ultrasonic communication channel. Proposed system consists of an acoustic transducer which operates at 136kHz center frequency and it's 10kHz bandwidth, pre-amplifier, $\pi/4 QPSK$(Quadrature Phase Shift Keying) modulation/demodu-lation method, image compressing method using JPEG technique and modified Stop & Wait protocol. The experimental result of the system make it possible to transfer the underwater image as a high throughput at the basin test. The results of test are also verified which allows to desirable transmission performance compared with the existing developed system and the possibility to put the practical use of survey and investigation in the water.
Purpose: Path planning and tracking algorithms applicable to various agricultural operations, such as tillage, planting, and spraying, are needed to generate steering angles for auto-guidance tractors to track a point ahead on the path. An optimal coverage path algorithm can enable a vehicle to effectively travel across a field by following a sequence of parallel paths with fixed spacing. This study proposes a path generation and tracking algorithm for an auto-guided Korean tractor with a tillage implement that generates a path with C-type turns and follows the generated path in a paddy field. A mathematical model was developed to generate a waypoint path for a tractor in a field. This waypoint path generation model was based on minimum tractor turning radius, waypoint intervals and LBOs (Limit of Boundary Offsets). At each location, the steering angle was calculated by comparing the waypoint angle and heading angle of the tractor. A path following program was developed with Labview-CVI to automatically read the waypoints and generate steering angles for the tractor to proceed to the next waypoint. A feasibility test of the developed program for real-time path tracking was performed with a mobile platform traveling on flat ground. The test results showed that the developed algorithm generated the desired path and steering angles with acceptable accuracy.

$CO_2$ welding is used widely in the field. On the other hand, welding defects occur when welders cannot adjust the current and voltage needed for welding and have to stop working to adjust the current and voltage, causing sudden cooling down of the welding structure inside a vehicle or tank where the control panel is invisible or when work site is far. This study used three types of existing $CO_2$ welders. This also applied SS400 rolled steel for welding structural purposes for remote control torch welding, perform a welding test through v-groove butt welding with a remote control torch and existing $CO_2$ welding torch, conducted visual inspection on the appearance of a welded top bead. In addition, the appearance quality of the welding part was monitored mainly through penetrant testing and a bending test to evaluate the welding defect reduction and the effect on the performance and compatibility by replacing the existing welder.
