The objective of this study is to present a data-driven machine learning (ML) framework for predicting ultimate shear strength and failure modes of reinforced concrete ledge beams. Experimental tests were collected on these beams with different loading, geometric and material properties. The database was analyzed using different ML algorithms including decision trees, discriminant analysis, support vector machine, logistic regression, nearest neighbors, naïve bayes, ensemble and artificial neural networks to identify the governing and critical parameters of reinforced concrete ledge beams. The results showed that ML framework can effectively identify the failure mode of these beams either web shear failure, flexural failure or ledge failure. ML framework can also derive equations for predicting the ultimate shear strength for each failure mode. A comparison of the ultimate shear strength of ledge failure was conducted between the experimental results and the results from the proposed equations and the design equations used by international codes. These comparisons indicated that the proposed ML equations predict the ultimate shear strength of reinforced concrete ledge beams better than the design equations of AASHTO LRFD-2020 or PCI-2020.

When compressed video data is transmitted over error-prone network such as wireless channel, data is likely to be lost, so the quality of reconstructed picture is severely decreased. It is specially so in case that important information such as motion vector or macroblock mode is lost. H.264/AVC standard includes DP as error resilient technique for protecting important information from error in which data is labeled according to its relative importance. But DP technique requires a network that supports different reliabilities of transmitted data. In general, the benefits of UEP is sought by sending multiple times of same packets corresponding to important information. In this paper, we propose MDC technique based on data partitioning technique. The proposed method encodes motion vector of H.264/AVC standard into multiple parts using MDC and transmits each part as independent packet. Even if partial packet is lost, the proposed scheme can decode the compressed bitstream by using estimated motion vector with partial packets correctly transmitted, so that achieving improved performance of error concealment with minimal effect of channel error. Also in decoding process, the proposed multiple description matching increases the accuracy of estimated lost motion vector and quality of reconstructed video.
We propose a fast inter-layer mode decision method by utilizing coding information of base layer upward its enhancement layer inscalable video coding (SVC), also called MPEG-4 part 10 Advanced Video Coding Amendment 3 or H.264 Scalable Extension (SE) which is being standardized. In this paper, when the motion vectors from the base layer have zero motion (0, 0) in inter-layer motion prediction or the Integer Transform coefficients of the residual between current MB and the motion compensated MB by the predicted motion vectors from the base layer are all zero, the block mode of the corresponding block to be encoded at the enhancement layer is determined to be the $16{\times}16$ mode. In addition, if the predicted mode of the MB to be encoded at the enhancement layer is not equal to the $16{\times}16$ mode, then the rate-distortion optimization is only performed on the reduced candidated modes which are same or smaller partitioned modes. Our proposed method exhibits the complexity reduction in encoding time up to 72%. Nevertheless, it shows negligible PSNR degradation and bit rate increase up to 0.25dB and 1.73%, respectively.

This paper presents an omnidirectionally beam-steerable orthogonal loop resonator for wireless power transfer. The resonator is composed of two orthogonal loops. These connections of two loops and the current direction on the loops are determined by the control of switch. The magnetic field direction is determined by the vector sum of each loop current. The beam is steerable to eight directions by four switch modes. Using the suitable switch mode, the simulation and measurement efficiencies in the whole azimuthal direction are 56.3~60.0 %(deviation 3.7 %) and 41.2~48.7 %(deviation 7.5 %), respectively. The results show a little variation of transmission efficiency in the azimuthal direction.
Electroencephalogram (EEG)-based brain-computer interfaces (BCI) can be used for a number of purposes in a variety of industries, such as to replace body parts like hands and feet or to improve user convenience. In this paper, we propose a method to decompose and extract motor imagery EEG signal using Empirical Mode Decomposition (EMD) and Fast Fourier Transforms (FFT). The EEG signal classification consists of the following three steps. First, during signal decomposition, the EMD is used to generate Intrinsic Mode Functions (IMFs) from the EEG signal. Then during feature extraction, the power spectral density (PSD) is used to identify the frequency band of the IMFs generated. The FFT is used to extract the features for motor imagery from an IMF that includes mu rhythm. Finally, during classification, the Support Vector Machine (SVM) is used to classify the features of the motor imagery EEG signal. 10-fold cross-validation was then used to estimate the generalization capability of the given classifier., and the results show that the proposed method has an accuracy of 84.50% which is higher than that of other methods.
Texture imaging, which means texture image creation by co-occurrence relation, has been known as one of useful image analysis methodologies. For this purpose, most commercial remote sensing software provides texture analysis function named GLCM (Grey Level Co-occurrence Matrix). In this study, texture-imaging program for GLCM algorithm is newly implemented in the MS Visual IDE environment. While, additional texture imaging modules based on GLDV (Grey Level Difference Vector) are contained in this program. As for GLCM/GLDV texture variables, it composed of six types of second order texture function in the several quantization levels of 2(binary image), 8, and 16: Homogeneity, Dissimilarity, Energy, Entropy, Angular Second Moment, and Contrast. As for co-occurrence directionality, four directions are provided as $E-W(0^{\circ}),\;N-E(45^{\circ}),\;S-W(135^{\circ}),\;and\;N-S(90^{\circ}),$ and W-E direction is also considered in the negative direction of E- W direction. While, two direction modes are provided in this program: Omni-mode and Circular mode. Omni-mode is to compute all direction to avoid directionality problem, and circular direction is to compute texture variables by circular direction surrounding target pixel. At the second phase of this study, some examples with artificial image and actual satellite imagery are carried out to demonstrate effectiveness of texture imaging or to help texture image interpretation. As the reference, most previous studies related to texture image analysis have been used for the classification purpose, but this study aims at the creation and general uses of texture image for urban remote sensing.
The supersonic flow around tandem cavities was investigated by three- dimensional numerical simulations using the Reynolds-Averaged Navier-Stokes(RANS) equation with the $\kappa-\omega$ thrbulence model. The flow around a cavity is characterized as unsteady flow because of the formation and dissipation of vortices due to the interaction between the freestream shear layer and cavity internal flow, the generation of shock and expansion waves, and the acoustic effect transmitted from wake flow to upstream. The upwind TVD scheme based on the flux vector split using van Leer's limiter was used as the numerical method. Numerical calculations were performed by the parallel processing with time discretizations carried out by the 4th-order Runge-Kutta method. The aspect ratio of cavities are 3 for the first cavity and 1 for the second cavity. The ratio of cavity interval to depth is 1. The ratio of cavity width to depth is 1 in the case of three dimensional flow. The Mach number and the Reynolds number were 1.5 and $4.5{\times}10^5$, respectively. The characteristics of the dominant frequency between two-dimensional and three-dimensional flows were compared, and the characteristics of the second cavity flow due to the fire cavity flow cavity flow was analyzed. Both two dimensional and three dimensional flow oscillations were in the 'shear layer mode', which is based on the feedback mechanism of Rossiter's formula. However, three dimensional flow was much less turbulent than two dimensional flow, depending on whether it could inflow and outflow laterally. The dominant frequencies of the two dimensional flow and three dimensional flows coincided with Rossiter's 2nd mode frequency. The another dominant frequency of the three dimensional flow corresponded to Rossiter's 1st mode frequency.

This paper is studied the fast block mode decision algorithm for H.264/AVC. The fast block mode decision algorithm is consist of block range decision and merge algorithm. The block range decision algorithm classifies the block over 8$\times$8 size or below for 16$\times$16 macroblock to decide the size and type of sub blocks. The block over 8$\times$8 size is divided into the blocks of 16$\times$8, 8$\times$16 and 16$\times$16 size using merging algorithm which is considered MVD(motion vector difference) of 8$\times$8 block. The sub block range decision reduces encoding arithmetic amount by 48.25% on the average more than the case not using block range decision.

IPSec is a protocol which provides data encryption, message authentication and data integrity on public and open network transmission. In IPSec, ESP protocol is used when it needs to Provide data encryption, authentication and integrity in real transmission Packets. ESP protocol uses DES-CBC encryption mode when sender encrypts packets and receiver decrypts data through this mode IV is used at that tome. This vague has many risks of attack during transmission by attacker because it is transferred clean and opened. If IV value is modified, then decryption of ESP data is impossible and higher level information is changed. In this paper we propose a new algorithm that it encrpty IV values using DES-ECB mode for preventing IV attack and checks integrity of whole ESP data using message authentication function. Therefore, we will protect attacks of IV and data, and guarantee more safe transmission on the public network.
