$F_1$잡종을 이용한 황색종 논담배(N. tabacum L.) 품종개량 (UTILIZATION OF $F_1$ HYBRIDS OF FLUE-CURED TOBACCO VARIETIES (N. TARACUM L.) FOR TOBACCO CULTURE BEFORE RICE IN PADDY FIELD)

  • In spite of their inferior quality, pale yellow flue-cured tobacco varieties (N. tabacum L.) are being cultivated as pre-crop of rice in paddy field because of its early leaf maturity. Fertile and male sterile Hicks as green variety , three pale yellow varieties and six single cross $F_1$ hybrids between green and pale yellow varieties, were evaluated. Fertile $F_1$ hybrids were similar to pale yellow varieties in early leaf maturity, curing characters and nicotine contents, where-as they were lower in total nitrogen, higher in reducing sugar comparing to those of the pale yellow varieties.

우리나라 딸기 품종별(品種別) 냉동가공(冷凍加工) 적성시험(適性試驗) (Study on the Freezing Processing Adaptabilities of Strawberry Varieties Cultivated in Korea)

  • The experiment was carried out to investigate the adaptability of freezing process with thirteen strawberry varieties cultivated in Suwon, Pusan and Chunju area. Six of these were local varieties and the others were varieties imported from the United States of America. Each strawberries variety was analysed chemically to determine value of soluble solids, acidity (calculated as citric acid) and deepness of color. Frozen products were prepared by a general method adding sugar to $28^{\circ}\;Brix$. Local varieties Haengok, Bokuh, Keikwan and Daehak No. 1 were not suitable for making into frozen products because of excessive white color in their centers. Blakemore, an imported variety, was best as to color. Chemical analysis showed that imported varieties have higher acidity, and lower content of soluble solids. In a sensory test conducted by fifteen members of Agriculture and Fishery Development Corporation, deeper colors of strawberries did not receive a generally favorable response, and it was found that strawberry colors favored by the America were not liked by Korean well.

벼주요품종의 질소시비수준에 따른 도복저항성 정도 (Field Lodging Degree of Rice Varieties according to Nitrogen Application Rate)

  • 본 연구는 쌀의 지속적 안정생산을 위한 기상재해 경감기술 개발의 일환으로 중부지역 벼 주요 장려품종의 포장 도복저항성 정도를 질소 보비와 다비 조건에서 검토하여 도복발생 상 습지역이나 질소과비 우려지역에서 벼 재배시 내도복성 품종의 선택 기준자료로 활용코자 수행한 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 1. 질소다비시 도복저항성이 강한 품종은 오봉벼, 대진벼, 내풍벼, 농안벼, 일품벼의 5품종, 중 정도인 품종은 대안벼 등 14품종, 약한 품종은 진부벼 등 11품종이었다. 2. 질소다비시 도복정도별 직접효과가 큰 형질은 도복정도가 9로 심했던 품종은 간장과 중심고, 도복정도 5에서는 간장, 도복정도 3이하로 도복에 강했던 품종은 간장, 제3절간으로 나타났다. 3.쌀 수량은 질소보비에 대한 다비의 수량지수로 볼 때 조생종은 수량차가 5% 이내로 적었으나, 중생종 및 중만생종은 도복시기 및 도복저항성 정도에 따라 수량차가 크게 나타났다. 4. 이상에서와 같이 우리나라 중부지역 적응 벼 주요 장려 품종 중 도복저항성이 강한 품종을 도복발생 상습지역이나 질소 과비 우려지역에 재배함으로서 도복발생을 경감하여 쌀의 지속적 안정생산이 가능할 것으로 판단되었다.

Morphological and molecular characterization of germinability related to direct-seeding in rice varieties

  • Direct-seeding cultivation of rice is increasing in Asia instead of transplanting system, because of its lower cost and operational simplicity. Low-temperature germinability (LTG) and anaerobic germinability (AG) are important characters for breeding of varieties for wide-spread adoption of direct-seeding cultivation in rice. This study was performed to characterize LTG and AG of seven rice varieties and identify varieties with strong germinability on both low-temperature and anaerobic conditions. The mean germination rate and germination vigor of seven varieties were 51.7% and 6.0 under low-temperature condition, respectively. Among these varieties, Cheongcheongjinmi and Hwanggeumnodeul had the highest germination rate of 80%, indicating that Cheongcheongjinmi and Hwanggeumnodeul have a good LTG. In anaerobic conditions, the germination rate and coleoptile length for all varieties were 47.6% and 3.2 cm, respectively. Of them, the highest germination rate and coleoptile length were observed in Subo and Hopum, respectively, suggesting that these two varieties are tolerant to anaerobic during germination stage. Molecular characterization by SDS-PAGE revealed that the protein patterns differed at 50 kDa, 40 kDa, and 22 kDa between low-temperature and anaerobic conditions. Varieties identified as good LTG or AG in this study may be used for developing new direct-seeding rice cultivars through pyramiding these traits in the breeding program.

담배 역병 저항성 검정에 관한 연구 (Studies on the Resistance to Black shank of leaf tobacco)

  • 각 품종간 역병 저항성 정도는 접종 4일째 부터 심하게 발생되었으며 특히 황색종에서는 접종 4-12일 사이에 심하게 이병증상을 나타냈고 재래종은 6-20일 사이, 일본종은 4-13일, 중국종은 6-14일, 터어키종은 8-17일, 음건종은 5-14일 사이에 발병이 심하였으나 발병이 늦은 품종을 저항성으로 본다면 1. 황색종 : Cash, Oxford-1 N.C-75 N.C-95 Goldencure, Delcrest, Oxford-3. 2, 재래종 : Sinzangtchio Muktchio, Sosa-3, Mokgitchio. 3. 일본종 : Nambu, Ibusukey, Maruha, Enshu. 4, 중국종 : Gkzuoe, Yungzung Tongzuoe. 5. 터키종 : Samsun, Baffra, Xanthi. 6. 음건종 : B-Hw, Connecticut-Broad leaf, C. Havana, Tennessee Black 등이 저항성 품종으로 나타났고 특히 재래종 계통이 내병성이 강한 품종으로 육종모본선발에 가치가 크다고 하겠다.

외국산 도입 호밀의 청예사료로서의 생산성 비교 IV. 추파호밀 품종의 전작조건에서의 내한성과 사초수량 (Comparative Studies of Introduced Rey ( Secale Cereale L. ) for Spring Forage Production IV. Winter-hardiliness and forage production of selected winter rye varieties under upland condiions)

  • These experiments were conducted at the upland of Livestock Farm, Seoul National University, Suweon to determine the growth characteristics, winter-hardiness and forage yield of selected southern and northern-types of winter rye (Secale cereale L.) in comparison with the Korean native rye over two seasons, 1977-78 and 1980-8 1. During the 1977-78 season, most southern-type rye varieties except Explorer and Abruzzi headed 2 to 6 days earlier than the Korean native rye and 6 to 10 days earlier than northerntype rye varieties Rymin and Puma, while in 1980-81 southern-type rye varieties headed 5 to 7 days earlier than the Korean native rye, therefore, the Korean native rye seemed to be medium in maturity. There were no significant differences in winter-hardiness among different rye varieties with the exception of the lowest winter survivals of Wintergrazer 70, Explorer and triticale, and Gator, Explorer and Florida Black during the 1977-78 and 1980-8 1 seasons, respectively. Southern-type rye varieties tended to yield more forage than northern-type and the Korean native rye varieties when harvest was made in the later part of April. During 1977-78 season, Vita-Graze, Elbon and Athens Abruzzi rye varieties produced significantly more forage than the Korean native rye, but in 1980-81 Wrens Abruzzi rye produced significantly more forage than the Korean native rye. Based on the results of the two seasons, southern-type rye varieties,Vita-Graze, Athens Abruzzi, Elbon and Wrens Abruzzi could be recommended as a source of green forage for livestock in April in middle-northern parts of Korea.

Isoflavone Concentrations and Composition of Soybean Varieties Grown in Upland and Lowland Regions of Vietnam

  • Health beneficial properties of soybean [Glycine max (L.) Merr.] isoflavones are well known. The objectives of this study were to determine and compare the isoflavone composition and concentrations of soybean varieties grown in different cultivated regions of Vietnam (i.e., upland and lowland). Total and individual isoflavone composition and concentrations were determined by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). Total isoflavone concentrations varied from 1153 to $6604{\mu}g\;g^{-1}$ and averaging $3354{\mu}g\;g^{-1}$ across environments and varieties. In the lowland region, the highest total isoflavones concentration was observed in M103 cultivar ($5653{\mu}g\;g^{-1}$) and the lowest in VX9-3 ($1153{\mu}g\;g^{-1}$), whereas in the upland region the highest and lowest concentrations were in M103 ($6604{\mu}g\;g^{-1}$) and DT93 ($1938{\mu}g\;g^{-1}$), respectively. Across varieties, average total isoflavones concentration was higher in the upland than lowland region (3728 vs. $2980{\mu}g\;g^{-1}$). The malonylglucosides and acetylglucosides concentrations in upland soybean varieties were higher than those from the lowland region. Despite the presence of Genotype (G) x Environment (E) interactions, varieties with consistently high (M103) and low (VX9-3, DT93) isoflavone concentrations across environments were identified. This is the first report of isoflavones in Vietnamese soybean varieties, revealing large variation in isoflavones concentration and profile among different varieties and cultivated regions. Results will be useful in selecting high-isoflavones soybean varieties for growth in tropical regions.

한국재래품종의 흰빛잎마름병에 대한 품종저항성에 관한 연구 (Studies on the Resistance of Conventional Korean Varieties of Rice to Bacterial Leaf Blight)

  • 한국에서 1920년경부터 1956년까지 재배되었던 조동지, 용천을 비롯한 74재내품종을 5개균군을 사용하여 저항성정도를 조사한 결과 1. 조동지, 용천, 애달, 용산, 대구, 밑다리, 풍옥을 포함한 69품종은 본병에 이병성인 금남풍군에 속하였다. 2. 흑수, 도입남, 황판은 황옥군이였다, 3. 남각, 강북도의 반응은 지금까지 알려지지 않았던 반응을 나타냈다. 4. 금남풍군에 속하는 69품종의 균군별 반응은 I균군이 $69.5\%$, II균군$99.9\%$, III균군$100\%$, IV균군$99.7\%$ V균군$99.8\%$로 놓은 발병주율을 보였다. 5. 황옥군에 속하는 3품종은 I균군 $1.7\%$ II균군 $98.8\%$, III 균군 $100\%$, IV균군 $100\%$, V균군 $1.4\%$로 판별품종의 반응과 비슷하였다.

Analysis of Growth Characteristics Using Plant Height and NDVI of Four Waxy Corn Varieties Based on UAV Imagery

  • Although waxy corn varieties developed after the 1980s show differences depending on development stages and conditions, studies on the characteristics of waxy corn during the growth stage are rare. The subject of this study was a field survey and unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) image acquisition of four waxy corn varieties cultivated in Idam-ri, Gammul-myeon, Goesan-gun, Korea. The study was conducted in four stages at intervals of two weeks after planting in 2019. The growth characteristics of each of the four varieties were analyzed using growth curves obtained based on field survey and UAV imagery data. The characteristics of each growth stage of the four varieties of corn, as assessed using normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) and plant height (P.H.) values, were as follows. The growth model was identified as a model in which three-parameter logistic (3PL) curves reflect the growth characteristics of corn well. In particular, it was found that the variations in growth rate shown by P.H. and NDVI values clearly explain the differences between corn varieties. Among the four cultivars, growth and development first occurred at the early vegetative stage in Daehakchal, followed by Mibaek 2, Miheukchal, and finally Hwanggeummatchal. The variationsin P.H. and NDVI were achieved quickly and earlier in Daehakchal, followed by Mibaek 2, Hwanggeummatchal, and Miheukchal. It was confirmed that these results reflected the characteristics of the fast white-type varieties, while the black-type varieties were delayed, as in a previous study. These results reflect the resistance to lodging that affects the cultivation environment and the response characteristics to nutrients and moisture. It was confirmed that UAV accurately provides growth information that is very useful for analyzing the growth characteristics of each corn variety.

Esterase 동위효소 및 단백질 패턴에 의한 고구마 품종 분류 (Classification of Sweet Potato Varieties Based on Esterase Isozymes and Protein Patterns)

  • 본 시험은 고구마 육종에 필요한 기초 자료를 제공하고자 1993년과 1994년에 작물시험장에서 보유하고 있는 유전자원 100품종에 대하여 전기영동법으로 esterase 동위효소와 단백질 특성을 분류하였던 바 결과는 다음과 같다. 1. 잎의 esterase 동위락소 특성은 14가지 형으로 분류되었고 Ⅸ형에 가장 많은 46품종이 속하여 있으며, 다음은 Ⅶ, I, III, Ⅷ, II 및 V형의 순으로 47품종이 속하여 있고 나머지 7품종은 각기 다른 특성을 가지고 있었다. 효소의 수가 많은 I형에는 신율미, Beniastma 및 High Starch 등 육질이 분질인 품종이 분포 되었다. 2. 괴근의 esterase 동위리소 특성은 18가지 형으로 분류되 었고 C형은 가장 많은 22품종을 포함하고 있으며 그 다음은 B, K, A, E, 1 및 N 형 순이었다. 3. 괴근의 단백질 특성은 7가지 형으로분류되었고 I형은 36품종, IV형 27품종을 포함하였으며 다음은 II, III, Ⅶ 및 Ⅵ형 순이었다. 4. 잎과 괴근의 major esterase 동위효소와 major 단백질 분석 결과 Beniastma, Beniaka, Beniazuma 및 Benikomachi, Shiroshistma와 Shiroshastma는 유사한 품종이었고 기타는 다른 품종임을 알 수 있었다.
