  • PEAS (performance enhancement attitude scale) has been used to measure attitude and disposition toward doping in elite athlete. It is constructed of 17-item, 6-point scale. The purpose of this study was to verify validity of the PEAS for Korean elite player through Rasch model. The scale was administered to 438 Korean elite players. Principal component analysis was used to verify unidimensionality using SPSS program. Rasch measurement computer program, WISTEPS, was used to estimate goodness-of-fit of items and category structure. Differenctial item functioning by gender was also estimated by the WINSTEPS program. All alpha level was set at 0.05. First, principal component analysis showed that unidimensionality is satisfied as over 20.0% of variance of eigenvalue. Second, category probabilities curve showed 5-point scale was better than 6-point scaled statistically. Third, seven items (1, 9, 10, 12, 13, 14, 17) in the 17-item were not good model fit and three items (3, 12, 13) were estimated as the differential item functioning. This study showed that 9-item, 5-point scale is better PEAS to Korean elite player.

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the factors affecting job satisfaction of PACU (post-anesthesia care unit) nurses in the context of job stress, organizational culture and professional identity. A total of 149 nurses participated in the cross-sectional, descriptive study suing a structured questionnaire. Job stress in pay and treatment category, innovation-oriented culture, relation-oriented culture, and professional identity were positively correlated with job satisfaction (r=.373, p<.001; r=.507, p<.001; r=.559, p<.001; r=.544, p<.001). The factors related to job satisfaction were professional identity (${\beta}=.391$, p<.001), relation oriented culture (${\beta}=.302$, p<.001), innovation oriented culture (${\beta}=.209$, p=.004), which accounted for 48.7% of the variance in job satisfaction. Professional identity was the most significant predictor of job satisfaction. Thus, in order to enhance the job satisfaction of nurses in the PACU, it is necessary to develop an education program that can improve professional identity and apply strategies for fostering relation and innovation oriented organization culture.

  • The marine officer plays a pivotal role in the shipping organization as a professional who performs a complex and diverse function. On the sea, unlike land duty, the possibility of turnover increases due to characteristics such as living in isolated spaces, continuous shift work during a set sailing period, high intensity work tension, stress, and social isolation. In this study, the impact of the organization's civic actions on the intention of turnover as a mediator of organizational immersion was divided into three groups of large companies, small and medium-sized enterprises, and public enterprises to check the differences between each category in a structural manner. Analysis showed that there were statistically significant differences between the groups in loyalty and turnover intention when the sub-factors of organizational commitment and organizational citizen behavior of the marine officer, and the size of turnover intention were included. Organization citizen behavior did not directly affect turnover intention, but when indirect effects were included, there was an effect through loyalty, and relationship-oriented organizational citizen behavior negatively affected turnover intention through loyalty. Excluding public enterprises, the non-standardization path coefficients were -0.229±0.117 and -0.319±0.068, respectively, showing a statistically significant effect in large companies and SMEs. These results indicate that in order to lower the employee turnover intention in large corporations and small and medium-sized shipping companies, it is necessary to consider not only organizational citizen behavior but also measures to increase organizational commitment.

  • This study was conducted to identify the factors affecting the problem solving ability in nursing students. Method: The subjects of this study were 226 nursing students from two universities located in G and C provinces. The collected data were analyzed by t-test, ANOVA, Correlation Coefficient, and Multiple Regression Analysis. Results: As a result of multiple regression analysis, the significant predictors of problem solving ability of nursing students were critical thinking disposition(β=.490, p<.001) and self-directed learning ability(β=.355, p=<.014). Problem solving ability was explained 61.9% of variance in critical thinking disposition and self-directed learning ability. Conclusion: The results of this study showed that self-directed learning ability and critical thinking disposition in nursing students were the influential factor on problem solving ability. Therefore, the results of this study suggest that it is necessary to find ways to improve critical thinking disposition and self-directed learning ability in order to improve problem solving ability of nursing students, and it is considered to be useful as basic data for developing education programs to improve problem solving ability.

  • This study is a descriptive survey research aimed at examining the relationship between nursing college students' attitudes toward child corporal punishment, their Recognition of children's rights, and their intention to report child abuse. It also seeks to identify factors influencing the intention to report child abuse. Data were collected from April 1, 2023, to June 30, 2023, using a structured questionnaire administered to 194 nursing college students. Data analysis was conducted using IBM SPSS/WIN 26.0 software and included descriptive statistics, independent t-tests, ANOVA, Scheffe's test, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and Multiple Regression analysis. The research results showed a significant negative correlation between attitudes towards child corporal punishment and awareness of children's rights, and a positive correlation between awareness of children's rights and the intention to report child abuse. Attitudes towards child corporal punishment and the intention to report child abuse collectively explained 19% of the variance in the intention to report child abuse. Therefore, it is necessary to develop educational programs that allow prospective nurses, who have a legal obligation to report child abuse, to experience cases of child abuse, enhance their sensitivity to child abuse, and improve their intention to report child abuse.

  • This study was conducted to explore the degree of female nursing student's dietary behavior, self esteem, dietary self-efficacy, life stress and the factors influencing dietary behavior of those surveyed. A total of 422 female nursing students in B, C city were surveyed. The data were collected between May 15 and 30 of 2016 and analyzed by a t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and multiple regression analysis using SPSS WIN/21.0. The mean score of dietary behavior was $3.01{\pm}0.49$. In addition, there were significant differences in dietary behavior with respect to grade(F=4.823, p=0.008), residential type(F=6.067, p<.001), academic grade(F=3.907, p=0.021), health status(F=7.975, p<0.001), and degree of health concern(F=4.189, p=0.016). Moreover, there were negative correlations between dietary behavior and self esteem(r=-.238, p<0.001), and dietary self-efficacy(r=-0.438, p<0.001), while there was a positive correlation between dietary behavior and life stress(r=0.194, p<0.001). Regression analysis showed 26.7% of variance in female nursing student's dietary behavior can be explained by dietary self-efficacy, life stress, residental type, and degree of health concern. A follow-up survey investigating various factors influencing female nursing student's dietary behavior is needed and increased dietary behavior education and programs are required.

  • Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are increasingly been recognized as the chemical mediators of mold interactions, shaping their community dynamics, growth, and metabolism. Herein, we selectively examined the time-correlated (0 D-11 D, where D = incubation days) effects of intraspecies VOC-mediated interactions (VMI) on Aspergillus oryzae KCCM 60345 (S1), following co-cultivation with partner strain A. oryzae KACC 44967 (S2), in a specially designed twin plate assembly. The comparative evaluation of $S1_{VMI}$ (S1 subjected to VMI with S2) and its control ($S1_{Con}$) showed a notable disparity in their radial growth ($S1_{VMI}$ < $S1_{Con}$) at 5 D, protease activity ($S1_{VMI}$ > $S1_{Con}$) at 3-5 D, amylase activity ($S1_{VMI}$ < $S1_{Con}$) at 3-5 D, and antioxidant levels ($S1_{VMI}$ > $S1_{Con}$) at 3 D. Furthermore, we observed a distinct clustering pattern for gas chromatography-time of flight-mass spectrometry datasets from 5 D extracts of $S1_{VMI}$ and $S1_{Con}$ in principle component analysis (PC1: 30.85%; PC2: 10.31%) and partial least squares discriminant analysis (PLS-DA) (PLS1: 30.77; PLS2: 10.15%). Overall, 43 significantly discriminant metabolites were determined for engendering the metabolic variance based on the PLS-DA model (VIP > 0.7, p < 0.05). In general, a marked disparity in the relative abundance of amino acids ($S1_{VMI}$ > $S1_{Con}$) at 5 D, organic acids ($S1_{VMI}$ > $S1_{Con}$) at 5 D, and kojic acid ($S1_{VMI}$ < $S1_{Con}$) at 5-7 D were observed. Examining the headspace VOCs shared between S1 and S2 in the twin plate for 5 D incubated samples, we observed the relatively higher abundance of C-8 VOCs (1-octen-3-ol, (5Z)-octa-1,5-dien-3-ol, 3-octanone, 1-octen-3-ol acetate) having known semiochemical functions. The present study potentially illuminates the effects of VMI on commercially important A. oryzae's growth and biochemical phenotypes with subtle details of altered metabolomes.

  • The purpose of this study was to compare the marginal discrepancy of coping crowns according to manufacturing method and materials by using the CAD/CAM system to compare the optimum manufacturing method and materials. The coping crowns were fabricated by using manufacturing methods and materials, and marginal fit was measured using the replica technique. For comparative analysis of manufacturing methods and materials, analysis of variance was performed. One-way ANOVA was performed to compare and analyze different mean values. For the milling method of the alloy, 114.6 was obtained for the MM group, 111.4 for the MS group, 67.2 for the MSC group, and 50.9 for the MSS group, respectively, using the milling/sintering method. In the milling/sintering method of ceramic, 35.6 and 36.3, respectively, were obtained for the SLME group and SLMR group, respectively. However, there was a significant difference according to the material. The milling/sintering method of the ceramic material gave the lowest value, and it was verified by the optimal method. However, marginal discrepancy of coping crowns fabricated using the CAD/CAM system is applicable to the clinic since it corresponds to acceptable numerical values in clinical practice.

  • The objective of this study was to compare of genetic parameter estimates on carcass traits of Hanwoo(Korean Cattle) according to modeling with Gibbs sampler and MTDFREML. The data set consisted of 1,941 cattle records with 23,058 animals in pedigree files at Hanwoo Improvement Center. The variance and covariance among carcass traits were estimated via Gibbs sampler and MTDFREML algorithms. The carcass traits considered in this study were longissimus dorsi area, backfat thickness, and marbling score. Genetic parameter estimates using Gibbs sampler and MTDFREML from single-trait analysis were similar with those from multiple-trait analysis. The estimated heritabilities using Gibbs sampler were .52~.54, .54 ~.59, and .42~.44 for carcass traits. The estimated heritabilities using MTDFREML were .41, .52~.53, and .31~.32 for carcass traits. The estimated genetic correlation using Gibbs sampler and MTDFREML of LDA between BF and MS were negatively correlated as .34~.36, .23~.37. Otherwise, genetic correlation between BF and MS was positive genetic correlation as .36~.44. The correlations of breeding value for marbling score between via MTDFREML and via Gibbs sampler were 0.989, 0.996 and 0.985 for LDA, BF and MS respectively.

  • A series of recent papers reported that the inter-gene correlations in Affymetrix microarray data sets were strong and long-ranged, and the assumption of independence or weak dependence among gene expression signals which was often employed without justification was in conflict with actual data. Qui et al. (2005) indicated that applying the nonparametric empirical Bayes method in which test statistics were pooled across genes for performing the statistical inference resulted in the large variance of the number of differentially expressed genes. Qui et al. (2005) attributed this effect to strong and long-ranged inter-gene correlations. Klebanov and Yakovlev (2007) demonstrated that the inter-gene correlations provided a rich source of information rather than being a nuisance in the statistical analysis and they developed, by transforming the original gene expression sequence, a sequence of independent random variables which they referred to as a ${\delta}$-sequence. We note in this report using two cDNA microarray data sets experimented in this country that the strong and long-ranged inter-gene correlations were still valid in cDNA microarray data and also the ${\delta}$-sequence of independence could be derived from the cDNA microarray data. This note suggests that the inter-gene correlations be considered in the future analysis of the cDNA microarray data sets.
