Background: Conventional treatment for mesothelioma is largely ineffective. We evaluated the novel approach of adenoviral gene transfection of PTEN gene in mesothelioma cancer cell lines, inflammatory and epithelial subtype, which are sensitive to adenoviral p53. Material and Method: Binary adenoviral PTEN and LacZ (Ad/GT-LacZ and Ad/GV16) vectors were used for transduction of the mesothelioma cell lines, REN (p53 sensitive). Protein levels were determined by Western blotting assay. Apoptosis was assessed by fluorescence-activated cell sorter analysis of subdiploid populations. Cell viability was determined with the XTT assay. Statistical analysis was performed with analysis of variance and the Student t test. Result: 72 hours after the treatment of adenoviral PTEN gene, cell killing were 32.9% for REN compared to control cell (2.5%) at MOI of 20. Also we observed the over-expression of proapoptotic protein, bax and decreased expression of bcl-2 protein in REN cells. But the expression of BCL-xl, Bak, Bad proteins were not altered. Conclusion: Adenovirus Pten-mediated overexpression of the Bax gene induces apoptosis and decreased cellular viability in p53-sensitive mesothelioma cells. These data suggest that the transfection of PTEN gene may represent a alternative gene therapy strategy to treat mesothelioma.

Hypertension often leads to cardiovascular disease and kidney disease, and hypertention is an important worldwide problem. Body mass index (BMI) has an important role for raising blood pressure. Further, hypertension can be affected by both environmental factors and genetic factors. Many single nucleotide polymorphisms have been associated with hypertension. Genome wide association study (GWAS) is a method of confirming a new locus of increasing the risk of disease, and GWAS has confirmed several single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) that are associated with high blood pressure. This study analyzed the relationship between systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure and SNP of the ATP2B1 gene in 994 Koreans. SNPs that showed the highest statistical significance with systolic and diastolic blood pressures were selected on the multiple linear regression analysis. One-way analysis of variance for systolic and diastolic blood pressures was performed, and multiple logistic regression analysis was performed on the risk of hypertension. The P values were two-tailed, and P<0.05 was considered significant. Four SNPs were associated with systolic blood pressure and six SNPs were associated with diastolic blood pressure. In addition, a genotype-based analysis showed significant odds ratios for the risk of hypertension in older men (adjusted OR, 5.743; 95% CI, 1.173~28.121; P=0.031). This study suggests that the ATP2B1 variants affect both the systolic and diastolic blood pressure.

Purpose: This study analyzes factors influencing public interest in fermentation using Google search trends. Specifically, it examines how key elements such as oxygen, temperature, time, and pH influence fermentation-0related searches from December 2020 to September 2024. Research design, data and methodology: Data from Google Trends was collected under the Beauty & Fitness category for the terms "Fermentation," "Oxygen," "Temperature," "Time," and "pH." Time series analysis was used to track trends over four years, and a correlation analysis was conducted to assess the relationships between these terms. A linear regression model was built to determine the influence of each factor on fermentation-related searches. The dataset was split into 80% training data and 20% testing data for model validation. Results: The correlation analysis indicated moderate positive relationships between fermentation-related searches and both time and pH, while oxygen had little to no correlation. The regression model showed that time and pH were the strongest influencers of fermentation interest, explaining 25% of the variance (R-squared = 0.25). Oxygen and temperature had minimal impact in predicting fermentation-related search interest. Conclusions: Time and pH are significant factors influencing public interest in fermentation-related topics, as shown by search trends. In contrast, oxygen and temperature, while important in the fermentation process itself, did not strongly affect public search behavior. These findings provide valuable insights for businesses and researchers looking to better understand consumer interest in fermentation products.
We examine the information transmission between the KT Spot and the KT Futures Index, the SK Telecom Spot and the SK Telecom Futures Index, based on the returns data offered by the Korea Exchange. The data includes daily return data from 1 January 2012 to 31 December 2014. Utilizing a dynamic analytical tool-the VAR model, Granger Causality test, Impulse Response Function and Variance Decomposition have been implemented. The results of the analysis are as follows. Firstly, results of Granger Causality test suggests the existence of mutual causality the KT Futures Index and the SK Telecom Futures Index precede and have explanatory power the KT Spot and the SK Telecom Spot However the results also identified a greater causality and explanatory power of the KT Spot and the SK Telecom Spot over the KT Futures Index and the SK Telecom Futures Index. Secondly, the results of impulse response function suggest that the KT Futures Index show immediate response to the KT Spot and are influenced by till time 4. From time 2, the impact gradually disappears. Also the SKT Futures Index show immediate response to the SKT Spot and are influenced by till time 4. From time 2, the impact gradually disappears. Lastly, the variance decomposition analysis shows that the changes of return of the KT Spot and SKT Spot are dependent on those of the KT Futures Index and the SK Telecom Futures Index. This implies that returns on the KT Spot and SKT Spot have a significant influence over returns on the KT Futures Index and the SK Telecom Futures Index. It contributes to the understanding of market price formation function through analysis of detached the KT Spot and the KT Futures Index, the SK Telecom Spot and the SK Telecom Futures Index.

Introduction. Despite the fact that half of premature deaths are caused by unhealthy lifestyles such as smoking tobacco, sedentary lifestyle, alcohol and drug abuse and poor nutrition, there are no theoretical models which accurately explain these health promotion related behaviors. This study tests a new model of health behavior called the Model of Health Promotion Behavior. This model draws on elements and frameworks suggested by the Health Belief Model, Social Cognitive Theory, the Theory of Planned Action and the Health Promotion Model. This model is intended as a general model of behavior but this first test of the model uses amount of exercise as the outcome behavior. Design. This study utilized a cross sectional mail-out, mail-back survey design to determine the elements within the model that best explained intentions to exercise and those that best explained amount of exercise. A follow-up questionnaire was mailed to all respondents to the first questionnaire about 10 months after the initial survey. A pretest was conducted to refine the questionnaire and a pilot study to test the protocols and assumptions used to calculate the required sample size. Sample. The sample was drawn from 2000 eligible participants at two blue collar (utility company and part of a hospital) and two white collar (bank and pharmaceutical) companies located in Southeastern Michigan. Both white collar site had employee fitness centers and all four sites offered health promotion programs. In the first survey, 982 responses were received (49.1%) after two mailings to non-respondents and one additional mailing to secure answers to missing data, with 845 usable cases for the analyzing current intentions and 918 usable cases for the explaining of amount of current exercise analysis. In the follow-up survey, questionnaires were mailed to the 982 employees who responded to the initial survey. After one follow-up mailing to non-respondents, and one mailing to secure answers to missing data, 697 (71.0%) responses were received, with 627 (63.8%) usable cases to predict intentions and 673 (68.5%) usable cases to predict amount of exercise. Measures. The questionnaire in the initial survey had 15 scales and 134 items; these scales measured each of the variables in the model. Thirteen of the scales were drawn from the literature, all had Cronbach's alpha scores above .74 and all but three had scores above .80. The questionnaire in the second mailing had only 10 items, and measured only outcome variables. Analysis. The analysis included calculation of scale scores, Cronbach's alpha, zero order correlations, and factor analysis, ordinary least square analysis, hierarchical tests of interaction terms and path analysis, and comparisons of results based on a random split of the data and splits based on gender and employer site. The power of the regression analysis was .99 at the .01 significance level for the model as a whole. Results. Self efficacy and Non-Health Benefits emerged as the most powerful predictors of Intentions to exercise, together explaining approximately 19% of the variance in future Intentions. Intentions, and the interaction of Intentions with Barriers, with Support of Friends, and with Self Efficacy were the most consistent predictors of amount of future exercise, together explaining 38% of the variance. With the inclusion of Prior Exercise History the model explained 52% of the variance in amount of exercise 10 months later. There were very few differences in the variables that emerged as important predictors of intentions or exercise in the different employer sites or between males and females. Discussion. This new model is viable in predicting intentions to exercise and amount of exercise, both in absolute terms and when compared to existing models.
This paper presents a technique for determining the optimal number of elements in stochastic finite element analysis based on reliability analysis. Using the change-of-variable perturbation stochastic finite element approach, the probability density function of the dynamic responses of stochastic structures is explicitly determined. This method combines the perturbation stochastic finite element method with the change-of-variable technique into a united model. To further examine the relationships between the random fields, discretization of the random field parameters, such as the variance function and the scale of fluctuation, is also performed. Accordingly, the reliability index is calculated based on the explicit probability density function of responses with Gaussian or non-Gaussian random fields in any number of elements corresponding to the random field discretization. The numerical examples illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method for a one-dimensional cantilever reinforced concrete column and a two-dimensional steel plate shear wall. The benefit of this method is that the probability density function of responses can be obtained explicitly without the use simulation techniques. Any type of random variable with any statistical distribution can be incorporated into the calculations, regardless of the restrictions imposed by the type of statistical distribution of random variables. Consequently, this method can be utilized as a suitable guideline for the efficient implementation of stochastic finite element analysis of structures, regardless of the statistical distribution of random variables.
According to the results of the management evaluation of the nation's public firms over the past seven years, the rating of the port corporation is generally insufficient. According to the results of the seven-year study 2011-2017, the average debt ratio of the port corporation was 34.5%, two to three times lower than that of the general public company, the operating profit ratio of sales was three times higher, and the value added per person was 1.6-1.9 times better. However, the aggregate score and grade were generally low, with 4.1% of the total number of employees of the general public corporation, 10% of the average total assets, and 1% of the average sales volume. The distributed analysis results and panel return analysis results show that the size significantly impacts the overall score and grade. Additionally, major business standards such as port volume, not controlled by the port corporation, appear to have a decisive influence on the low grade of the port corporation. Thus, it appears that improvement and supplementation of key business indicators of port construction are urgently needed in the management evaluation system, which can be properly controlled.

Self-leveling material(SLM) is one of the floor finishing materials which make flat surface like as water level by itself in a short time. So it is possible to increase construction speed and enhance economical efficiency. In this study, author intended to develop SLM for the industrial warehouse and factory loading heavy weight machinery and vehicles. The demanded properties for this type of SLM are above 20mm of flow value and above 300kgf/cm2 of 28-days compressive strength. To possess demended strength and fluidity, SLM have to be composed of many types of binders and chemical additives. So it is difficult to decide suitable mixing proportion of composition materials. In this study, author investigated the weight percentage effect of main composition materials for high-strength self-leveling material, by experimental design such as tables of orthogonal arrays and simplex design, and by statistical analysis such as analysis of variance and analysis of response surface. Variables of experiments were ordinary portland cement(OPC), alumina cement(AC), anhydrous gypsum(AG), lime stone(LS) and sand, and properties of tests were fluidity of fresh state and strength of hardened state. Results of this study are showed that suitable mix proportions of binders for the high strength self-leveling materials are two groups. One is 78~85.5% OPC, 7.5~9.5% AC, 9~12.5% AG and the other is 72.5~78% OPC, 9~12.5% AC, 13~l5% AG.

This study investigates the differences in: 1) attitudes toward the advertising ofjeans, buying intension, importance of merchandise selection factors, and utilization of information sources among groups according to the level of fashion involvement 2) attitudes toward advertising and buying intension among types of advertising 3) importance among merchandise selection factors 4) utilization among types of information source. Questionnaires were distributed to 300 men and women between 10 and 30 years of age. A sample of 286 men and women responded to the questionnaire. Using SPSS/PC version 12.0, factor analysis, reliability analysis, analysis of variance, and randomized block design are used for the data analysis. The results showed significant differences in: 1) attitudes toward the advertising of jeans, buying intension, importance of merchandise selection factors, and utilization of information source among groups according to levels of fashion involvement 2) attitudes toward advertising and buying intension among types of advertising 3) importance among merchandise selection factors 4) utilization among types of information sources.
