This paper discusses the economics of local loop architecture focusing on existing technologies, ADSL, HFC, and new one, PLC, and suggests a new modeling approach of access network system and the numerical equations. To modelize access network system and drive the numerical equations, we consider the double star and the tree & branch architecture and made block diagram of each access system. In addition, we introduce the density of subscriber as a variable and the equation of seeking the optimal number of cell in a service area. The economics of local loop architecture is analyzed in two ways, i.e. with and without consideration of the cost of cable and infrastructure. From the numerical analysis, we find that in case of not including the cost of cable and infrastructure, there is no much difference in the cost per one subscriber, while, in case of including it, there is remarkable difference among technologies. Therefore we conclude that the economics of local loop architecture is depend on the density of subscriber and existing network infrastructures.

Hold-up time is a special requirement for the front end DC/DC converter in a server power supply. It forces the converter with the variable switching frequency to operate in a wide switching frequency range, which makes the regulation difficult and reduces the power density. In this paper a novel frequency controlled half bridge converter with the hold-up time extension circuit is proposed. During the hold-up time, the auxiliary switches are turned on, thus the resonant inductance is reduced and the voltage conversion ratio is increased. Therefore, the output capacitor of the power factor correction (PFC) circuit can be decreased, and the converter can have high power density. The proposed converter is verified by experimental results from a prototype with 700W, 400V input, and 12V output.

Compared to nomadic and fixed relay stations, vehicle-mounted mobile relay stations show different characteristics caused by the time-variant topology, due to their mobility. Especially, a relay mounted in a vehicle is differentiated from nomadic or fixed relay by the restricted distance between the relay and associated mobile station and the variable density of relay deployment in a cell. In this paper, we identify the characteristics of vehicle-mounted mobile relay stations and provide some parameters that highly influence the performance of vehicle-mounted relay. Through simulation, we measure the effect of relay density, zone ratio, relay transmission power, and frame transmission mode on the performance of vehicle-mounted relay. The results show that the performance of vehicle-mounted relay is highly susceptible to the above vehicle-mounted relay-specific parameters.
Although peak loading coefficient is one of critical design factors for sewer works, its detailed affecting factors were not analyzed because of limited data availability. This study analyzed the affecting factors on peak loading coefficient with plenty data obtained from several newly constructed sewer works. Simple and multiple regression analysis methods were adopted to analyze the relationships of each variable with or without data filtering. Drainage population, drainage area, population density, and daily sewage flow per person showed very weak relationships under diverse characteristics of cities. However, daily sewage flow per person showed stronger relationships with peak loading when daily sewage flow per person was splitted into two ranges. Population density (i.e., drainage population divided by drainage area) and daily sewage flow per person considerably were related with peak loading coefficient when daily sewage flow per person is less than about 400 Lpcd.
It is known that the progressive edge-growth (PEG) algorithm can be used to construct low-density parity-check (LDPC) codes at finite code lengths with large girths through the establishment of edges between variable and check nodes in an edge-by-edge manner. In [1], the authors derived a class of LDPC codes for relay communication systems by extending the full-diversity root-LDPC code. However, the submatrices of the parity-check matrix H corresponding to this code were constructed separately; thus, the girth of H was not optimized. To solve this problem, this paper proposes a modified PEG algorithm for use in the design of large girth and full-diversity LDPC codes. Simulation results indicated that the LDPC codes constructed using the modified PEG algorithm exhibited a more favorable frame error rate performance than did codes proposed in [1] over block-fading channels.

The electron drift velocity W and the product of the longitudinal diffusion coefficient and the gas number density $ND_{L}$ in the $0.525\;\%$ and $5.05\;\%$$C_{3}F_8-Ar$ mixtures were measured by using the double shutter drift tube with variable drift distance over the E/N range from 0.03 to 100 Td and gas pressure range from 1 to 915 torr. And we determined the electron collision cross sections set for the $C_{3}F_8$ molecule by STEP 1 of electron swarm method using a multi-term Boltzmann equation analysis. Our special attention in the present study was focused upon the vibrational excitation and new excitations cross sections of the $C_{3}F_8$ molecule.
In fitting a regression model, we often encounter data sets which do not follow Gaussian distribution and/or do not have equal variance. In this case estimation of the conditional density of a response variable at a given design point is hardly solved by a standard least squares method. To solve this problem, we propose a simple method to estimate the distribution of the fitted vales under heteroscedasticity using the idea of quantile regression and the histogram techniques. Application of this method to a real data sets is given.

When current flows through a thick conductor such, most of the current flows along outside of the conductor, which is called skin effect. This paper represents a method calculating such a current distribution in the conductor region. The conductor region is divided into some pieces and each piece has its own unknown variable, i.e. current density. The governing equation which expresses Maxwell's equation is combined with the circuit equation with voltage source. The combined equation is solved to obtain current distribution in the conductor. This algorithm is applied to EMC(Electromagnetic Casting) to calculate current density with voltage source.
The paper analyzes and compares the effects of domestic monetary policy using DSGE, DSGE-VAR, and VAR based on a two-country open economy model of Korea and the U.S. According to impulse response analysis, a domestic interest rate hike raises won value in the case of DSGE and DSGE-VAR models, while in the case of the unrestricted VAR model, it lowers won value. In the marginal data density standard, DSGE-VAR (${\mu}=1$) is superior to DSGE or Bayesian VAR over the sample period. Conversely, in the in-sample RMSE criterion, especially for the won/dollar exchange rate, VARs are superior to DSGE or DSGE-VAR. It is necessary to study further if these differences are caused by model misspecification or omitted variable bias.
