The purpose of this study is to develop the model to estimate the penetration rate of metal under a high power continuous wave laser irradiation. To estimate it, an empirical modeling is more practical when the penetration phenomena of metal by laser irradiation is too complex to be analyzed by the numerical simulation. When several methods published earlier were applied to our results, we found out that their methods were not appropriate as the model. Therefore, we suggested the new empirical method considering effective intensity as a key variable. As a result, we confirmed that the new method was effective to model the penetration rate of SUS304 metal and expected that it could be available to other metals.

At the end of 1997, the volatility of the exchange rate intensified as the nation's exchange rate system was converted into a free-floating exchange rate system. As a result, managing the exchange rate is becoming a very important task, and the need for forecasting the exchange rate is growing. The exchange rate prediction model using the existing exchange rate prediction method, statistical technique, cannot find a nonlinear pattern of the time series variable, and it is difficult to analyze the time series with the variability cluster phenomenon. And as the number of variables to be analyzed increases, the number of parameters to be estimated increases, and it is not easy to interpret the meaning of the estimated coefficients. Accordingly, the exchange rate prediction model using artificial neural network, rather than statistical technique, is presented. Using DNN, which is the basis of deep learning among artificial neural networks, and LSTM, a recurrent neural network model, the number of hidden layers, neurons, and activation function changes of each model found the optimal exchange rate prediction model. The study found that although there were model differences, LSTM models performed better than DNN models and performed best when the activation function was Tanh.
This paper has addressed the scheme to design single rate Rate Adaptive Shaper (srRAS) proposed in RFC2963. srRAS is the shaper used in conjugation with downstream single rate Three Color Marker (srTCM) described in RFC269. it is tail-drop First Input First Out (FIFO) queue that is drained at a variable rate. srTCM meters IP packet streams from srRAS and marks its packets to be either green, yellow, or red. This shaper has been proposed to use at the ingress of differentiated services networks providing AF PHB. And then srRAS can reduce the burstiness of the upstream traffic of srTCM. This paper addresses algorithm, architecture of srRAS, and the scheme to implement srRAS using Field-Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGA) and the related technology.

This research confirmed whether banks and saving banks increase their deposit margin under changes in the base rate. This paper has conclusions as follows. First, when the Bank of Korea changes the base rate, deposit rate variable are significant with panel analysis in the total data set and saving banks. This result implies that changes in the base rate affect deposit margin. Second, this study confirmed whether banks and saving banks maximize their deposit margin as base rate changes. As a result, when the Bank of Korea cut the base rate, the deposit margins of banks and saving banks decreased significantly. Still, their deposit margins are not statistically significant in the opposite situation. Therefore, this paper could not find evidence that banks and saving banks behave to maximize their deposit margin. Maybe, this phenomenon can appear because these financial institutions recognize this criticism.

Wartime warship damage rate indicates how much damage of friend warships shall have occurred during naval battles accomplished under specific war operational plans. The wartime damage rate analysis provides the baseline of wartime resources requirements. If wartime damage rate is overestimated, the national finance will get to negative effects because of exceeding the budget for inventory, operation, and maintenance of resources. Otherwise, if wartime damage rate is underestimated, the national defense will lose in the war because of lack of critical resources. In this respect, it is important to estimate the wartime damage rate accurately and reasonably. This paper proposes a systematic procedure to estimate the wartime warship damage rate. The procedure consists of five steps; force analysis, operation plan analysis, input variable definition, simulation modeling, and output analysis. Since the combat simulation model is regarded as the main tool to estimate damage rate, the procedure is focused on the development of model and experiments using the model. A case study with virtual data is performed to demonstrate the effectiveness of the developed procedure.
In this paper, we present a low-complexity non-coherent demodulation algorithm and hardware architecture for LR-WPAN systems which can support the variable data rate for various applications. The need for LR-WPAN systems that can support the variable data rate is increasing due to the emergence of various sensor applications. Since the existing symbol based double correlation (SBDC) algorithm requires the increase of complexity to support the variable data rate, we propose the sample based double correlation (SPDC) algorithm which can be implemented without the increase of complexity. The proposed non-coherent demodulator was designed by verilog HDL and implemented with FPGA prototype board.

This paper describes a effective information compressor algorithm for the fourth industrial technology. One of the difficult problems for outdoor is to obtain effective updating process of background images. Because input images generally contain the shadows of buildings, trees, moving clouds and other objects, they are changed by lapse of time and variation of illumination. They provide the lowering of performance for surveillance system under outdoor. In this paper, a effective information algorithm for variable environment variable under outdoor is proposed, which apply the Kalman Estimation Modeling and adaptive threshold on pixel level to separate foreground and background images from current input image. In results, the better SNR of about 3dB~5dB and about 10%~25% noise distribution rate in the proposed method. Furthermore, it was showed that the moving objects can be detected on various shadows under outdoor and better result Information.
Collision-induced dissociation of peptides involves a series of proton-transfer reactions in the activated peptide. To describe the kinetics of energy-variable dissociation, we considered the heat capacity of the peptide and the Marcus-theory-type proton-transfer rate. The peptide ion was activated to the high internal energy states by collision with a target gas in the collision cell. The mobile proton in the activated peptide then migrated from the most stable site to the amide oxygen and subsequently to the amide nitrogen (N-protonated) of the peptide bond to be broken. The N-protonated intermediate proceeded to the product-like complex that dissociated to products. Previous studies have suggested that the proton-transfer equilibria in the activated peptide affect the dissociation kinetics. To take the extent of collisional activation into account, we assumed a soft-sphere collision model, where the relative collision energy was fully available to the internal excitation of a collision complex. In addition, we employed a Marcus-theory-type rate equation to account for the proton-transfer equilibria. Herein, we present results from the integrated thermochemical approach using a tryptic peptide of ubiquitin.
Many studies have been conducted to increase regression rate of solid fuel in hybrid rocket. One of them resorts to swirl flow since it can extend the residence time of oxidizer in the fuel grain. Also, metal wires may lead to increase the regression rate of solid fuel as shown in solid propellants. In this study, a series of experiments was designed to investigate the enhancement of regression rate of solid fuel by embedded metal wires and by fuel port grain. And fuel port was designed with a helical configuration to attempt to induce swirl flow. PMMA with gaseous oxygen is the solid fuel used for investigation. Test results showed that embedded metal wires turned out to be ineffective method because only $3-4\%$ increases in regression rate were observed. However, fuel port grain configuration yields higher burning performance of up to $50\%$ increase in regression rate. Also pitch number as well as total impulse was found to be a design variable.
This paper describes the effects of injection rate shaping on the combustion, fuel consumption and emission of $NO_x$ and soot of a medium duty diesel engine. The focus is on the influence of four different injection rate shapes, square type 1, square type 2, boot and ramp, with a variation of maximum injection pressure and start of injection (SOI). The experiments were carried out on a 1 liter single cylinder research diesel engine equipped with an amplifier-piston common rail injection system, allowing the adjustment of the injection pressure during the injection event and thus injection rate as desired. Two strategies to maintain the injected fuel mass constant were followed. One where rate shaping is applied at constant injection duration with different peak injection pressure and one strategy where rate shaping is applied at a constant peak injection pressure, but with variable injection duration. Injection rate shaping was found to have a large effect on the premixed and diffusion combustion, a significant influence on $NO_x$ emissions and depending on the followed strategy, moderate or no influence on soot emission. Only small effects on indicated fuel consumption were found.
