  • The purpose of this study is to measure the effects on the regional economy from the Jeju International Wind Ensemble Festival. In order to examine the economic ripple effects of the festival, we examine its impact on the local economy using two regional (Jeju-National) industry-related models based on the 2013 Jeju Region Input and Output Table. We also compare how the Jeju International Wind Ensemble Festival is growing and affecting the regional economy through a comparison between 2017 and 2018. Comparing the results of a production-inducing and value added-effect analysis of the induced industries from investment expenditures for the Jeju International Wind Ensemble Festival, the production-inducing effects increased by 2.1 times-from 9.05 billion won in 2017 to 18.7 billion won in 2018. The value-added effect increased by 2.2 times, from nearly 4.3 billion won in 2017 to nearly 9.2 billion won in 2018. The analysis shows that the Jeju International Wind Ensemble Festival contributes greatly to an income increase for local residents. In order to enhance the effects of the Jeju International Wind Ensemble Festival, it is necessary to use policies that link culture and tourism in Jeju.

  • This study was analyzed the destination image and tests of image value of forest region festival by segmenting the market. A field survey was conducted during the Acasia-Honey Festival days in Chilgok, the famous acasia-honey products place, from May 12-15, 2001. In this study, 20 image items on five-point Likert scale were examined through factor analysis using a sample of 394 visitors. Four factors were identified as follows : environment, behavior-facilities, festival programs, and products. The author observed if there were statistically significant differences of destination images between the first-time and the repeat visitors, between residents and non-residents, and between purchasers and non-purchasers of acasia-honey products. The results indicated that repeat visitors and residents group had a more positive image of behavior factor such as hospitality and information for festival. And, the author found that purchasers of acasia-honey products had more positive image of product as well as environment factor such as special atmosphere, nostalgia, natural attractions, local culture, and novelty. For these results, it is possible to conclude that local government must effectively provide the festival visitors with well-defined information such as festival contents and schedule, also, develop the programs involved unique attributes of forest region festival to improve festival image.

  • Purpose The purpose of this study is to develop intelligent vehicle parking distribution system based on LoRa network at the circumstance of traffic congestion during cultural festival in a local city. This paper proposes a parking dispatch and distribution system using a Q-learning algorithm to rapidly disperse traffics that increases suddenly because of in-bound traffics from the outside of a city in the real-time base as well as to increase parking probability in a parking lot which is widely located in a city. Design/methodology/approach The system get information on realtime-base from the sensor network of IoT (LoRa network). It will contribute to solve the sudden increase in traffic and parking bottlenecks during local cultural festival. We applied the simulation system with Queuing model to the Yudeung Festival in Jinju, Korea. We proposed a Q-learning algorithm that could change the learning policy by setting the acceptability value of each parking lot as a threshold from the Jinju highway IC (Interchange) to the 7 parking lots. LoRa Network platform supports to browse parking resource information to each vehicle in realtime. The system updates Q-table periodically using Q-learning algorithm as soon as get information from parking lots. The Queuing Theory with Poisson arrival distribution is used to get probability distribution function. The Dijkstra algorithm is used to find the shortest distance. Findings This paper suggest a simulation test to verify the efficiency of Q-learning algorithm at the circumstance of high traffic jam in a city during local festival. As a result of the simulation, the proposed algorithm performed well even when each parking lot was somewhat saturated. When an intelligent learning system such as an O-learning algorithm is applied, it is possible to more effectively distribute the vehicle to a lot with a high parking probability when the vehicle inflow from the outside rapidly increases at a specific time, such as a local city cultural festival.

  • This paper offers a landscape design proposal for the 2014 Dreampark Chrysanthemum Festival within the Sudokwon Landfill Site. This site is located at 58 Baeksukdong, Seo-gu, Incheon, and it has an area of approximately $560,000m^2$. Over 1.53million visitors came to this festival on the previous year. This design includes an overall masterplan and a series of planting plans along with a core selection of iconic topiaries. The goal of the design is to create a landscape that improves the value of the place image and local economy as well as celebrates the 2014 Incheon Asian Game. In order to achieve this goal, three design subjects were considered: promoting local pride as a part of Incheon, increasing the aesthetic value of the site based on the brand image, and sustainable placemaking. To promote local pride, the 2km long "Little Incheon" is designed over a wildflower field, which is inspired by Incheon Bridge to give a strong image of the locality. A variety of programs from local gardening participation were introduced to the east part of the site. The design also outlines the vision for the development of Dreampark - a people-oriented gathering place for the entire community with spaces that offer a variety of unstructured recreational and cultural experiences. To increase the aesthetic brand value of the festival, it introduced a variety of wildflower beds scattering through the whole site. It creates a strong brand image for the festival and memories that will encourage visitors to return. Various folktales of Asian countries are displayed by autumn flowers and groundcover plants at the centre of the site, which is the highlight of the festival site. For sustainable placemaking, the design preserves the existing trees and reed beds for wildlife to create natural layers of landscape. In addition, facilities and service centers are designed to be flexible and are centred on the needs of the people using them. Also a festival management scheme was planned in order to operate the site efficiently and economically.

  • The purpose of this study was to identify development strategies of high value-added cultural products in order to help promote Jeonnam cultural tourism festivals. In order to achieve this purpose, we carried out a market survey of cultural products sold in cultural tourism festivals held successfully within the Jeonnam area. The subjects of this study were local festivals which were labeled as cultural tourism festivals by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism from 2000 to 2008. The results of this study were as follows: Firstly, a store survey was conducted to analyze the categories of products on offer. As a result, the most frequent product was accessories (46.2%), followed by clothing and miscellaneous goods (25.2%), ceramic products (14.8%), interior decoration products (9.1%), and stationery (4.6%). Secondly, in the design motif used for cultural products, most products did not contain festival or local images. Cultural products with festival images made up 47.2% of the range, while only 2.3% of products on offer contained local imagery. The remaining 50.3% of cultural products for sale did not use festival or local images. Finally, in terms of materials used, most products used metal (36.7%), followed by textiles (32.9%), ceramic (13.8%), wood (6.2%), plastic (6.2%), paper (3.6%), and leather (0.2%). For price range, 52.4% of product were equal to or below 10,000 won, followed by 33.1% between 10,000-30,000 won. The results of this study showed that the cultural products of Jeonnam festivals lacked symbolism of the region or festival itself. Furthermore, items and the price ranges were not diverse enough. A possible solution would be to address this short coming, but more importantly, design a marketing and commercial strategy tailored towards the promotion of cultural products which contain both regional and festival imageries.

  • The day of the Dead, so called as 'El día de los muertos' in Mexico is the traditional festival of the mexicans. There is no doubt that the origin of the festival traces back to the times of the people of Azteca before the Invasion of the spanish soldiers into the land of the soldiers of Teotihuacán. The festival rituals of the Azteca are the same as the catholic rituals in converging the actual characteristics and the cultural structure of the Festival. Therefore the hybridity of the Festival has been considered as high value worthy to be conserved and named as a world cultural heritage by the UNESCO. This investigation has been realized through the survey of questionnaire to get some practical informations and data on how the mexicans think of the Festival and enjoy it according to the diversity of the believes, sexes, locations, ages, etc. We could reveal that the absolute majority of the mexicans consider the Festival as very positive. Even though the sexes, educations, ages can't be elements to make the differences in conforming the common think of the day of the Dead, believes and locations where the people do live are the most sensitive elements that influence upon the ways of thinking. The protestants think negatively while the catholics do reflect the average opinion of the mexicans who consider the Festival as a good and positive tradition. The people of the city participate less than the people of the provinces. Conclusively the day of the Dead can be considered as a national symbol of the people of Mexico.

  • Dance films, which started together as a combination of dance and video technology, have evolved into a new genre. Overseas, from early 1950s, experimental dance films have been produced and the dance film association is organized along with many dance film festivals are being held. However, it has not been long since the perception and creativity of the genre of dance films in Korea. Under these circumstances, holding of the 'Seoul Dance Film Festival' and experimental approaches by 'Dance Film Project' are important for the development of domestic dance films. Therefore, this paper explores the concept and development of dance films, the status and features of various overseas dance film festivals and the 'Seoul Dance Film Festival'. This paper also explores the roll and function of 'Seoul Dance Film Festival' and 'Dance Film Project', and their expected benefit along with possibilities of prosperity of domestic dance film. 'Dance Film Project' is the educational and experimental venue for producing of dance films, and the 'Seoul Dance Film Festival' is a platform for producing dance film makers, show of works, dialogue with audiences, international exchanges, and distributions. The dance film festival embodies the value of the past and current flow of the dance film and is intrinsic to the existence of a live content that can be predicted the future aspect of its roll. The two groups mutual growth and development are expected to play a positive role in the development of domestic dance films.
