수렴성빔 전자회절법을 이용한 $SiO_2/Si$ 계면 부위의 격자 변형량 측정 (Measurements of Lattice Strain in $SiO_2/Si$ Interface Using Convergent Beam Electron Diffraction)

  • The oxidation of silicon wafers is an essential step in the fabrication of semiconductor devices. It is known to induce degradation of electrical properties and lattice strain of Si substrate from thermal oxidation process due to charged interface and thermal expansion mismatch from thermally grown SiO, film. In this study, convergent beam electron diffraction technique is employed to directly measure the lattice strains in Si(100) and $4^{\circ}$ - off Si(100) substrates with thermally grown oxide layer at $1200^{\circ}C$ for three hours. The ratios of {773}-{973}/{773}-{953} Higher Order Laue Zone lines were used at [012] zone axis orientation. Lattice parameters of the Si substrate as a function of distance from the interface were determined from the computer simulation of diffraction patterns. Correction value for the accelerating voltage was 0.2kV for the kinematic simulation of the [012]. HOLZ patterns. The change in the lattice strain profile before and after removal of oxide films revealed the magnitudes of intrinsic strain and thermal strain components. It was shown that $4^{\circ}$ -off Si(100) had much lower intrinsic strain as surface steps provide effective sinks for the free Si atoms produced during thermal oxidation. Thermal strain in the Si substrate was in compression very close to the interface and high concentration of Si interstitials appeared to modify the thermal expansion coefficient of Si.

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate the kinematic effect of upper extremity usage for the scoccer instep kick motion. Ten male university students were recruited as the subjects. Temporal parameters, ball velocity, velocity of CG, angle of segment, angular velocity, and trunk orientation angle were determined for each trial. The results showed that temporal parameters in WU and WORU were significantly less than those found in WOU during pre impact phase. These indicated that no usage of upper extremity may increase excessive setup time in order to improve the accuracy of instep kick. Angle of right knee in WOU at LC was significantly greater than corresponding value for WU since angular momentum contributions of the lower limb were not effectively balanced by contributions of the upper limb. We found that the lower extremity movement was controlled by lateral movement in the trunk as a result of no usage of the upper extremity, resulting in the relatively greater trunk rotation in WOU.

Electrical Properties and Microstructures in Ti Films Deposited by TFT dc Sputtering

  • Ti films were deposited on glass substrates under various preparation conditions in a chamber of two-facing-target type dc sputtering; after deposition, the electric resistivity values were measured using a conventional four-probe method. Crystallographic orientations and microstructures, including the texture and columnar structure, were also investigated for the Ti films. The morphological features, including the columnar structures and surface roughness, are well explained on the basis of Thornton's zone model. The electric resistivity and the thermal coefficient of the resistivity vary with the sputtering gas pressure. The minimum value of resistivity was around 0.4 Pa for both the $0.5{\mu}m$ and $3.0{\mu}m$ thick films; the apparent tendencies are almost the same for the two films, with a small difference in resistivity because of the different film thicknesses. The films deposited at high gas pressures show higher resistivities. The maximum of TCR is also around 0.4 Pa, which is the same as that obtained from the relationship between the resistivity and the gas pressure. The lattice spacing also decreases with increasing sputtering gas pressure for both the $0.5{\mu}m$ and $3.0{\mu}m$ thick films. Because they are strongly related to the sputtering gas pressures for Ti films that have a crystallographic anisotropy that is different from cubic symmetry, these changes are well explained on the basis of the film microstructures. It is shown that resistivity measurement can serve as a promising monitor for microstructures in sputtered Ti films.

  • 현대사회에서 영상처리는 스마트폰, 디지털 카메라, 디지털 TV 등의 여러 디지털 기기에 응용되고 있다. 영상처리 분야 중에서 에지 검출은 영상처리과정에 중요한 부분이다. 영상 에지는 배경과 물체 사이에서 화소값이 급격히 변화하는 지점이며, 크기, 위치, 방향 등의 중요한 정보를 포함한다. 기존의 에지 검출 방법은 크기가 작은 가중치 마스크를 이용하여 에지를 검출하기 때문에, AWGN(additive white Gaussian noise)에 훼손된 영상의 에지 검출 결과가 다소 미흡하다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 AWGN 환경에서 효과적으로 에지를 검출하기 위해, 마스크 영역의 범위를 넓혀 각 영역에 따른 새로운 화소를 추정한 후, 추정된 마스크를 벡터로 변환하여 정렬한 후 계산된 기울기로 에지를 검출하는 알고리즘을 제안하였다.

Recent results on the analysis of viscoelastic constitutive equations

  • Recent results obtained for the port-pom model and the constitutive equations with time-strain separability are examined. The time-strain separability in viscoelastic systems Is not a rule derived from fundamental principles but merely a hypothesis based on experimental phenomena, stress relaxation at long times. The violation of separability in the short-time response just after a step strain is also well understood (Archer, 1999). In constitutive modeling, time-strain separability has been extensively employed because of its theoretical simplicity and practical convenience. Here we present a simple analysis that verifies this hypothesis inevitably incurs mathematical inconsistency in the viewpoint of stability. Employing an asymptotic analysis, we show that both differential and integral constitutive equations based on time-strain separability are either Hadamard-type unstable or dissipative unstable. The conclusion drawn in this study is shown to be applicable to the Doi-Edwards model (with independent alignment approximation). Hence, the Hadamardtype instability of the Doi-Edwards model results from the time-strain separability in its formulation, and its remedy may lie in the transition mechanism from Rouse to reptational relaxation supposed by Doi and Edwards. Recently in order to describe the complex rheological behavior of polymer melts with long side branches like low density polyethylene, new constitutive equations called the port-pom equations have been derived in the integral/differential form and also in the simplifled differential type by McLeish and carson on the basis of the reptation dynamics with simplifled branch structure taken into account. In this study mathematical stability analysis under short and high frequency wave disturbances has been performed for these constitutive equations. It is proved that the differential model is globally Hadamard stable, and the integral model seems stable, as long as the orientation tensor remains positive definite or the smooth strain history in the flow is previously given. However cautious attention has to be paid when one employs the simplified version of the constitutive equations without arm withdrawal, since neglecting the arm withdrawal immediately yields Hadamard instability. In the flow regime of creep shear flow where the applied constant shear stress exceeds the maximum achievable value in the steady flow curves, the constitutive equations exhibit severe instability that the solution possesses strong discontinuity at the moment of change of chain dynamics mechanisms.

3D 프린팅된 표면의 슬라이딩 방향에 따른 트라이볼로지적 특성 연구 (A Study on Tribological Properties of 3D-Printed Surface with Respect to Sliding Orientation)

  • This paper presents an experimental investigation of friction and wear characteristic with respect to patterns occurring on the surface of 3D printed polymer products by fused deposition modeling method. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of the patterns and sliding directions on the tribological properties of 3D printed polymer surface. A cubic specimen was printed using polylactic acid filament as the printing material. Friction tests were conducted for different directions with respect to the patterns that were generated on the top and the side surfaces of the specimen, by using a ball-on-reciprocating type tribotester. SUJ2 bearing ball of which the diameter was 11 times greater than the width of the largest pattern was used as the counter surface to assess the frictional behavior. Friction tests were conducted on the top and the side surfaces with respect to the patterns in 3 (0°, 45°, 90°) different directions respectively. Coefficient of friction increased as cycles increased in all cases. The results of the tests showed that the lowest coefficient of friction was measured with the 45° sliding direction on the side surface. The wear rate was the lowest at 45° sliding direction on the side surface, while it was the highest at 0° sliding direction on the top surface. Coefficient of friction of about 0.45 was determined to be the converging value on the top compared to the side surface.

X-Ray Absorption Spectroscopic Study of 120 MeV $Ag^{9+}$ Ion-Irradiated N-Doped ZnO Thin Films

  • We report the electronic structure modification in the swift heavy ion (SHI) irradiated N-doped ZnO thin films prepared by RF sputtering from ZnO target in different ratio of Ar/$N_2$ gas mixture using highly pure $N_2$ gas. The different N-ZnO thin lms were then irradiated with 120 MeV Ag ion beam with different doses ranging from $1{\times}10^{11}$ to $5{\times}10^{12}$ ions/$cm^2$ and characterized by XRD and near edge X-ray absorption ne structure (NEXAFS) at N and O K-edges. The NEXAFS measurements provide direct evidence of O 2p and Zn 3d orbital hybridization and also the bonding of N ions with Zn and O ions. The minimum value of resistivity of $790{\Omega}cm$, a Hall mobility of $22cm^2V^-1s^-1$ and the carrier concentration of $3.6{\times}10^{14}cm^{-3}$ were yielded at 75% $N_2$. X-ray diffraction (XRD) measurements revealed that N-doped ZnO films had the preferential orientation of (002) plane for all samples, while crystallinity start decreasing at 32.5% $N_2$. The average crystallite size varies from 5.7 to 8.2 nm for 75% and then decreases to 7.8 nm for 80% $Ar:N_2$ ratio.

  • 본 연구는 할리우드의 최근 로맨틱 코미디 영화인 <프로포즈(2009)>를 대상으로 하여 미국 할리우드 로맨틱 코미디 영화의 장르적 관습이 관객에게 수용되는 데 있어 관객의 국적이나 젠더가 그 수용 양상의 차이에 어떤 영향을 끼치고 있는가 하는 문제를 실증적으로 확인하고자 시도하였다. 할리우드 로맨틱 코미디 장르는 대부분 남녀 배우가 드러내는 매력을 중심으로 하여, 이들이 만나고 헤어지는 어느 정도 관습화된 플롯 위에 전개하는 특징을 갖고 있다. 영화 <프로포즈> 역시 이러한 관습화된 플롯 구조를 한편으로는 따르면서, 한편으로는 변주하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 영화 <프로포즈>에 등장하는 '배우'와 '등장인물'이라는 요소와, 할리우드의 일반적인 로맨틱 코미디 플롯에서 '사랑의 완성'으로 제시되는 '결혼식'과 '프로포즈'라는 요소가 한국과 미국이라는 국적과, 남성과 여성이라는 젠더에 따라서 어떤 다른 선호가 나타나는가 하는 바를 관객 반응을 묻는 설문조사와 통계를 통해 살펴보았고, 관객이 지향하는 가치들 사이의 상관성 분석을 통해 드러나는 의미를 해명하였다.

인간의 주의시각에 기반한 시각정보 선택 방법 (Visual Information Selection Mechanism Based on Human Visual Attention)

  • 본 논문에서는 입력장치로 들어오는 수많은 시각정보 중 현 시점에서 가장 유용하다고 생각되는 정보를 인간의 상향식 주의시각에 기반하여 선택하는 시각정보 선택기법에 대해 소개한다. 제안하는 시스템은 색상, 명도, 방위, 형태 등 저수준의 공간특징 외에 시간특징으로서 움직임 정보와 3차원 정보인 깊이 정보를 추가적으로 사용함으로써 기존방법에 비해 정보 선택의 정확도를 높혔다. 움직임 정보 추출 시 발생할 수 있는 노이즈를 제거하기 위해 인간의 움직임 인지에 대한 연구결과를 이용하는 새로운 접근법을 사용하였으며, 입력 영상 내 객체들이 부분적으로 겹쳐있다거나 동일한 현저도를 가지고 있을 때에도 현저한 영역을 제대로 선택해낼 수 있도록 깊이 정보를 사용하여 유의미한 영역을 선별하고 우선순위를 부여하였다. 실험결과를 통해 제안하는 방법이 기존의 방법에 비해 높은 정확도를 가짐을 확인할 수 있었다.
