ISFRA (Integrated SFR Analysis Program for PSA) computer program has been developed for simulating the response of the PGSFR pool design with metal fuel during a severe accident. This paper describes validation of the ISFRA aerosol model against the Aerosol Behavior Code Validation and Evaluation (ABCOVE) experiments undertaken in 1980s for radionuclide transport within a SFR containment. ABCOVE AB5, AB6, and AB7 tests are simulated using the ISFRA aerosol model and the results are compared against the measured data as well as with the simulation results of the MELCOR severe accident code. It is revealed that the ISFRA prediction of single-component aerosols inside a vessel (AB5) is in good agreement with the experimental data as well as with the results of the aerosol model in MELCOR. Moreover, the ISFRA aerosol model can predict the "washout" phenomenon due to the interaction between two aerosol species (AB6) and two-component aerosols without strong mutual interference (AB7). Based on the theory review of the aerosol correlation technique, it is concluded that the ISFRA aerosol model can provide fast, stable calculations with reasonable accuracy for most of the cases unless the aerosol size distribution is strongly deformed from log-normal distribution.

This research aimed to validate a high-performance liquid chromatography method for the quantitative determination of bixin and norbixin in various foods. The Diode Array Detector (495 nm) technique was used. Method was validated for specificity, linearity, limit of detection (LOD), limit of quantification (LOQ), precision, and accuracy, and the measurement uncertainty was assessed. The calibration curve showed excellent linearity (r2≥0.9999) over the tested concentration range of 0.2-25 mg/L. The LOD and LOQ were 0.03-0.11 and 0.02-0.05 mg/L for bixin and norbixin, respectively. The intra-and inter-day accuracies and precisions were 88.0±1.3-97.0±0.5% and 0.2%-2.6% relative SD (RSD) for bixin and 88.2±0.8-105.8±0.8% and 0.3%-2.7% RSD for norbixin, respectively. Inter-laboratory validation for accuracy and precision was conducted in three laboratories, and these results all met the AOAC guidelines. In addition, the relative expanded uncertainty (<22%) satisfied the CODEX recommendation. Furthermore, products distributed in Korea were monitored for annatto extracts using the proposed method to demonstrate its application. The developed analytical method is reliable for quantifying bixin and norbixin in various foods.
An effective numerical technique to calculate the reactions of a multi-spanned transmission line conductor system, under arbitrary loads varying along the spans, is developed. Such variable loads are generated by High Intensity Wind (HIW) events in the form of tornadoes and downburst. First, a semi-closed form solution is derived to obtain the displacements and the reactions at the ends of each conductor span. The solution accounts for the nonlinearity of the system and the flexibility of the insulators. Second, a numerical scheme to solve the derived closed-form solution is proposed. Two conductor systems are analyzed under loads resulting from HIW events for validation of the proposed technique. Non-linear Finite Element Analyses (FEA) are also conducted for the same two systems. The responses resulting from the technique are shown to be in a very good agreement with those resulting from the FEA, which confirms the technique accuracy. Meanwhile, the semi-closed form technique shows superior efficiency in terms of the required computational time. The saving in computational time has a great advantage in predicting the response of the conductors under HIW events, since this requires a large number of analyses to cover different potential locations and sizes of those localized events.

Recently, the demand of the Intelligent Transportation System(ITS) has been increased to a large extent, and a real-time traffic information service based on the internet system became very important. When ITS companies carry out real-time traffic services, they find some traffic data missing, and use the conventional method of reconstructing missing values by calculating average time trend. However, the method is found unsatisfactory, so that we develop a new method based the spatial and spatial-temporal models. A cross-validation technique shows that the spatial-temporal model outperforms the others.
In this paper, we'd like to briefly introduce Korean common speech database, which project has been started to construct a large scaled speech database since 2002. The project aims at supporting the R&D environment of the speech technology for industries. It encourages domestic speech industries and activates speech technology domestic market. In the first year, the resulting common speech database consists of 25 kinds of databases considering various recording conditions such as telephone, PC, VoIP etc. The speech database will be widely used for speech recognition, speech synthesis, and speaker identification. On the other hand, although the database was originally corrected by manual, still it retains unknown errors and human errors. So, in order to minimize the errors in the database, we tried to find the errors based on the recognition errors and classify several kinds of errors. To be more effective than typical recognition technique, we will develop the automatic error detection method. In the future, we will try to construct new databases reflecting the needs of companies and universities.
The main objective of this work is to investigate the sloshing behavior in a baffled and unbaffled three dimensional annular-sectored water pool (i.e., tank) which is located at dome region of the primary containment. Initially two case studies were performed for validation. In these case studies, the theoretical and experimental results were compared with numerical results and good agreement was found. After the validation of present numerical procedure, an annular-sectored water pool has been taken for numerical investigation. One sector is taken for analysis from the eight sectored water pool. The free surface is captured by Volume of Fluid (VOF) technique and the fluid portion is solved by finite volume method while the structure portions are solved by finite element approach. Baffled and un-baffled cases were compared to show the reduction in wave height under excitation. The complex mechanical interaction between the fluid and pool wall deformation is simulated using a partitioned strong fluid-structure coupling.
In this paper we propose a logistic regression method to estimate the survival function and the median survival time in interval-censored data. The proposed method is motivated by the data augmentation technique with no sacrifice in augmenting data. In addition, we develop a cross validation criterion to determine the size of data augmentation. We compare the proposed estimator with other existing methods such as the parametric method, the single point imputation method, and the nonparametric maximum likelihood estimator through extensive numerical studies to show that the proposed estimator performs better than others in the sense of the mean squared error. An illustrative example based on a real data set is given.

This paper deals with the State-Dependent Riccati Equation (SDRE) Technique for the design of rotorcraft waypoint guidance. To generate the flight trajectory through multiple waypoints, we use the trigonometric spline. The controller design and its validation is based upon a level 2 simulation rotorcraft model and the designed SDRE controller is applied to the trajectory tracking problems. To verify the designed guidance law, the simulation environment of high fidelity rotorcraft model is developed using three independent PCs. This paper focuses on the validation of rotorcraft waypoint guidance law which is designed by using SDRE Controller.
A linear quantitative structure-property relationship (QSPR) model is presented for the prediction of rejection in permeation through membrane. The model was produced by using the multiple linear regression (MLR) technique on the database consisting of retention data of 25 pesticides in 4 different membrane separation experiments. Among the 3224 different physicochemical, topological and structural descriptors that were considered as inputs to the model only 50 were selected using several criteria of elimination. The physical meaning of chosen descriptor is discussed in detail. The accuracy of the proposed MLR models is illustrated using the following evaluation techniques: leave-one-out cross validation procedure, leave-many-out cross validation procedure and Y-randomization.

As one of validation tool for attitude determination system, we have used various constraints using priori information which is known through base vector set up. However these conventional constraints cannot guarantee validity in terms of final solutions such as Euler angle. So we suggest attitude boundary concept to verify the final attitude solution on the flying airplane, it is based on the combination of velocity based attitude estimation technique and ambiguity resolution. we can say it can check invalid solution effectively at just one epoch without repeatability test of resolved cycle ambiguity. In this paper we show that the suggested constraint can effectively reject incorrectly resolved cycle ambiguity the conventional constraints have missed.
