Influences of Glass Texturing on Efficiency of Dye-Sensitized Solar Cells

  • The etching processes of glass in aqueous hydrofluoric acid (HF) solutions were used to improve the current density of solar cell. In this study, the textured glass substrate has been etched by solution and the $TiO_2$ thin films have been prepared on this textured glass. After the $TiO_2$ film deposition the surface has been etched by HF under different concentration and the etched $TiO_2$ thin films had a longer electron lifetime and higher haze ratio as well as light scattering, resulting in 1.7 times increment of dye-sensitized solar-cell(DSSC) efficiency. Increases in the surface root-mean-square roughness of glass substrates from 80 nm to 1774 nm enhanced haze ratio in above 300 nm wavelength. In particular, haze ratio of etched $TiO_2$ films on textured glass showed gradually increasing tendency at 550 nm wavelength by increasing of HF concentration up to 10M, suggesting a formation of crater with various sizes on its surface.

Effect of Water Absorption on the Tensile Properties of Carbon-Glass/Epoxy Hybrid Composite in Low Temperature (탄소-유리/에폭시 하이브리드 복합재의 저온 인장 특성에 미치는 수분의 영향)

  • This study investigated the effect of water absorption on the tensile properties of carbon-glass/epoxy hybrid composites at room temperature and $-30^{\circ}C$. To investigate the effect of the position of glass fabric in the hybrid composite on the tensile properties, the stacking pattern of the fiber fabrics for reinforcing was created in three different ways: (a) glass fabrics sandwiched between carbon fabrics, (b) carbon fabrics sandwiched between glass fabrics and (c) alternative layers of carbon and glass fabrics. They were manufactured by a vacuum-assisted resin transfer molding (VARTM) process. The results showed that there was surprisingly little difference in tensile strength at the two different temperatures with dry and wet conditions. However, the water absorption into the hybrid system affected the tensile properties of the hybrid composites at RT and $-30^{\circ}C$. When the glass fabrics were at the outermost layers, the hybrid composite had the lowest tensile properties. This is attributed to the fact that the composite had a relatively high water absorption rate.

  • 본 논문은 현재 국내 외적으로 널리 공급되고 있는 유리식(glass) 진공관형 태양열 집열기를 대체할 수 있는 비유리식(non-glass) 진공관형 태양열 집열기의 설계 및 제작에 관한 실험적 내용을 소개하고 있다. 비유리식 진공관형 태양열 집열기는 유리식에 비해 그 내구성이 탁월할 뿐 아니라 적용성도 뛰어나지만 비유리식 집열기는 유리식 집열기와 달리 외부공기 입자의 진공관 내부로의 확산을 억제하거나 그 내부의 진공도 유지를 위해 특수 설계를 하여야 하며 아울러 소재의 특성을 최대한 살릴 수 있는 응용 기술의 개발을 필요로 한다. 이를 위하여 진공관 내부의 일정한 진공도 유지를 위해 집열기와 별도로 설치된 Vacuum Chamber를 진공관과 튜브(vacuum connector)로 연결하여 진공관 내의 outgasing이 가능하도록 할 수도 있으며, 진공관 외피에 공기의 침투를 억제하기 위한 gas barrier coating을 고려할 수도 있다. 본 논문에서 소개하는 비유리식(non-glass) 진공관형 태양열 집열기는 기계, 화공, 재료 등 다양한 분야의 원천 기술을 복합적으로 적용한 것으로 기존의 유리식에 비해 설계 및 제작에 있어서 다소 복잡한 양상을 띠고 있다.

  • Transmittances of SiO2 and ZrO2 thin films, made by the electron beam evaporation method, were measured with a spectrophotometer to be used in determining their optical constants and thicknesses in the envelop method. New color glass lenses with high transmittance, which now can be manufactured in the industry, was successfully designed by using these constants. Also the vacuum evaporator could be mechanically corrected with these constants as correction factors.

  • The traditional mechanical manometer is improved to develop more convenient and precise manometer in continuous measurement of the gas pressure in medium-low vacuum range (1x10$^{-1}$ -10 Torr.) Glass (solid) is used as a detector material of the improved manometer. Using the strain gauge adhered to thin glass board, mechanical strain corresponding to variation of pressure in measurement system is converted into quantity of electricity, and the quantity of electricity is amplified. Experiments have also shown that the improved manometer have more advantages in reproducibility, measured sensibility, and responsible velocity than taditional one.

  • For the evaluation of the plasma display panel (PDP)'s noise, vibration and sound characteristics of fanless PDP are measured and investigated. PDP is a type of two-electrode vacuum tube which operatres on the same principle as a household fluorescent light. An inert gas such as argon or neon is injected between two glass plates on which transparent electrodes have been formed, and the glass is illuminated by generating discharge. (omitted)

  • Window integrated solar collector is to simply install inside of the existing double glass window frame. Double glass window frame is consist of inner glass of Low-E coating and Silver coating, and outer glass of low iron reinforced glass. In order to secure natural lighting in a room, only 50% of window frame is covered with solar collectors. Solar absorption or transmission rate varies seasonally depending on sun angles. Part of inner glass where right behind of the solar plate is covered with silver coating to increase absorption rate of solar plate. The collector is made of a copper serpentine where aluminum fins are soldering. To improve the effect of insulation of inside of the window frame is recommend vacuum. As a result, we are making the 3th sample and will archieve below $F_RU_L=7.5W/m^2^{\circ}C$ that is the account of heat lossed, and above $F_R({\tau}{\alpha})=0.45$.

  • Chemical bath deposition (CBD) 기술에 의해 slide glass 기판 위에 CdS 박막을 적층 형성하였다. 적층된 박막들은 CdCl2와 thiorea (H2NCSNH2)를 증류수와 혼합 시dipping의 온도 조건, pH 조건, 시간 및 횟수를 달리하여 균일한 표면이 형성되도록 하였다. 적층된 박막은 $200^{\circ}C$ 이상의 고온에서 annealing하여 결정화하였다. 적층한 박막은 결정화 요인들을 XRD, FE-SEM, AFM, EDX, UV-Vis spectroscopy를 통해 조사하였다. 형성된 박막은 포토레지스터로 활용될 가능성을 조사하였다.
