  • VR refers to Virtual Reality technology that allows experiences of virtual contents as if they are real through visual, auditory and other senses. VR is even affecting the news. This greatly shakes the frame of the news. In other words, the conventional way of the new was to watch it with the passive action of seeing pictures, articles and images while VR News offers an active paradigm of experience and participation. This study analyzed the VR news of each press and investigated how VR news is developing. Furthermore, an experimental study was conducted to examine how users actually perceived the VR news. News made using both the existing method and the VR news method were comparatively shown to users who were following the news, and the interview was carried out through questionnaires. The results obtained through the statistics and analysis are as follows. Users made an assessment that they felt the sense of realism in recognition of the VR news while it was still lacking in terms of the unique information delivery that the news performs. However, the intention of using the VR news again was shown to be high, which demonstrated the expectation of users who have experienced the VR news.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of VR news focused on recall, understanding, enjoyment, visual fatigue and reuse intention through experimental study. Using Window SPSS 21.0 and AMOS 21.0 program, the data was analyzed by exploratory/confirmatory factor analysis, reliability analysis, correlation analysis and path analysis. The Results are as follows. First, presence and immersion among VR news characteristics influenced positively on users' recall of VR news. Second, presence, interactivity and immersion among VR news characteristics influenced positively on users' understanding of VR news. Third, presence, interactivity and immersion among VR news characteristics influenced positively on users' enjoyment of VR news. Fourth, presence among VR news characteristics influenced negatively on users' visual fatigue of VR news. Fifth, presence and immersion among VR news characteristics influenced positively on users' reuse intention of VR news. This study will provide on an important implication understanding VR news characteristics and VR news users.

  • In recent years, virtual reality (VR) technology has been widely used in many industrial fields, especially in the fields of medical treatment, games, film and television, to improve the interaction between medical teaching and practical treatment. On the gaming side, the production of virtual reality gaming screens and scenes became increasingly popular, greatly expanding the form of the visual experience. But VR is no longer confined to the health care, education and entertainment industries. During this time, the news media industry has also begun to integrate virtual reality into interviews and user interactions. This study aims to analyze the development of VR technology from the perspectives of immersive VR news experience, real reporting, and prospects, and analyze and think about the interactive participation of media users, the transformation of traditional media, and the upgrading of practitioners' roles.

  • The purpose of this study is to derive the core technologies of VR using patent analysis and to explore the direction of social and public interest in VR using news analysis. In Study 1, we derived keywords using the frequency of words in patent texts, and we compared by company, year, and technical classification. Netminer, a network analysis program, was used to analyze the IPC codes of patents. In Study 2, we analyzed news articles using T-LAB program. TF-IDF was used as a keyword selection method and chi-square and association index algorithms were used to extract the words most relevant to VR. Through this study, we confirmed that VR is a fusion technology including optics, head mounted display (HMD), data analysis, electric and electronic technology, and found that optical technology is the central technology among the technologies currently being developed. In addition, through news articles, we found that the society and the public are interested in the formation and growth of VR suppliers and markets, and VR should be developed on the basis of user experience.

  • In this research, analysis based on VR journalism outlet the New York Times' was carried out. The image analysis of was done through the frames of angle, shot (size, length, movement), and limited user-directed interaction (point, sound). The result of this is as follows. Firstly, the direction was done using a basis of normal and low angles. Secondly, it was able to be confirmed that the shooting was done in order by medium, full, and long shot. Thirdly, with regard to the length of the shot, most direction was done through long takes. Fourthly, most images came to consist of fixed shots. Lastly, this is limited user-directed interaction. This may be separated into 2 aspects: sound, and movement of the independent free agent. Through these, interaction was guided through free point of view concerning realistic situations to point of view guidance and users. This research may be referred to as foundational research for the further advancement of in-depth discussion pertaining to VR journalism.

  • This study aims to gain insight through understanding the Metaverse, which has recently become a hot topic. The study utilizes the methods of case study and News Bigdata Analysis Services. The Metaverse can be defined as a world with no separation between the virtual and real worlds. Currently, the Metaverse is dominated mainly by the MZ generation, but just like smartphones have quickly entered our lives, the Metaverse will soon, too, become a part of our lives. To follow up on this change, all companies, including global companies, are going after the Metaverse. Today, the Metaverse is successfully being used in all types of fields, including gaming, performing arts, business, etc., and its essential technologies include VR/AR/MR/XR and AI. This study intends to help understand the Metaverse through a case analysis of Zepeto, which has 200 million users worldwide. On Zepeto, users can decorate their own avatars, hang out with friends, go to art galleries and performances, and create and sell items. Of these users, 90% are from outside of South Korea, and 80% are teenagers. With most of the users being underage, many legal and social problems also follow. Nevertheless, who will be the first to conquer the new world of the Metaverse will continue to be a big issue. This study also analyzes domestic news articles about the Metaverse by utilizing the BigKinds system. Starting in 1996, the number of articles about the Metaverse each year remains single digit, until in 2020 when the number sharply rises to 86 news. As of June 2021, there are 1,663 articles on the Metaverse. This study suggests that the Metaverse should now be carefully examined and closely followed.

  • Terrestrial broadcasters are devoting great efforts in order to increase sense of reality that would help viewers feel as if they were watching events on site by producing-depth, differentiated news and offering a variety of information to them. They maximize news video graphic effects by replacing news set and install large display units, rail camera, and Jimmy Jib camera. This study aims to grasp whether there is any difference among the main evening news of the three major terrestrial broadcasters. KBS, MBC, and SBS used 18%, 15%, and 12% of graphic usage hours respectively while the number of graphic usage cases amounted to 267, 329, and 276 for each of them. The number of cases where in-depth news report hours exceeded three minutes that require increasingly more virtual reality graphic technology production was 16 for KBS, 7 for MBC, and 5 for SBS. MBC showed the highest number of uses in graphics while KBS showed more graphic use hours than the other two. There have been a number of preceding studies on news contents, but it is significant that this study looked at how much graphics technologies are used in such news video contents.

  • It has recently been combined with advanced technologies such as AR and VR, and its application range is expanding to various forms of smart signage. However, until now, digital signage service that reaches us is installed in many floating populations such as bus stops, elevators, and banks and is used in the form of providing news, weather, and advertisements. In addition, large companies, government offices, and outdoor advertising companies occupy the market. The use of such services in small and medium-sized businesses and small retail stores is costly and expensive to manage. Also, it is difficult to generalize the market because services and solutions are being deployed in the market in the form of top-down. Therefore, in this paper, we proposed a digital signage system for transmitting a remote video advertisement that uses a show window in front of the store as a beam project screen for small retail stores, and can remotely set and manage and update it in OSGi service platform.
