A Research on streaming protocol for User-Created Contents in Digital Cable Broadcasting environment (디지털 케이블 방송 환경에서 개인 미디어를 위한 스트리밍 프로토콜 연구)

  • 최근 인터넷에서 많은 관심을 보이고 있는 개인 미디어(UCC;User Created, Contents, VC2;Viewer Created Contents, 이하 UCC-사용자가 직접 제작한 미디어 콘텐츠를 불특정 다수에게 제공하는 서비스) 중에 비디오/오디오 콘텐츠를 영상 콘텐츠의 기본적인 매체라 할 수 있는 TV상에서 직접 즐길 수 있다면 미디어의 대상과 그 미디어의 Entertainment적인 효과는 배가될 것이다. 디지털 케이블 방송에서 UCC와 같은 다양하고 많은 미디어 콘텐츠를 디지털 TV상에서 서비스를 하고자 한다면 현재의 OCAP(OpenCable Application Plat form)기반에서는 RVOD(Real Video on Demand)와 동일한 서비스 모델을 가져야 하는 부담과 UCC 제공을 위한 방송 플랫폼별 인터페이스가 필요할 것이다. 이러한 문제점을 Return Path를 통한 RTP(Real-time Transport Protocol;RFC1889)을 이용해서 기존의 VoD(Video on Demand)스트림의 대역에서 분리하고 별도의 VOD프로토콜을 구현함으로써 라이브 방송환경과 동일한 인프라의 지속적인 확장보다는 일반적인 네트워크 프로토콜을 이용하여 VoD서비스를 위한 인프라에 많은 영향을 받지 않는 서비스가 가능할 수 있을 것이다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 RTP를 위한 Set-Top-Box상의 다운로드 가능한 구조의 클래스 분석과 클라이언트 대응의 UCC Transcoding 및 전송을 위한 스트리밍 서버의 설계에 중점을 두고 경량화 된 VOD서비스 및 시스템을 설계함으로써 방송환경 하에 On-Demand서비스의 효율적인 확장성과 보다 많은 콘텐츠 등록 및 활용의 기회를 가져올 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.

Analysis of IPTV VOD Usage Behavior of 2 to 7 Years Old Children and Mother's Perceptions about Their Child's Usage (2-7세 영유아 자녀의 IPTV 동영상 시청 행태와 이용에 대한 어머니의 인식)

  • This paper provides a database about the IPTV VOD usage behavior of children as well as mother's perception at home. We analyzed the correlation of mother's background with IPTV VOD using time of children through a survey. We analyzed how does the mother's background influences usage time of IPTV VOD for children through a survey. The survey was conducted by 500 mothers who have two to seven years old children with IPTV users in Korea. Compilation of the data reveals that 1) 36.6% of the children have watched IPTV VOD for the first time at two years old, 93.4% have encountered by family members among them. 40.8% of users have played IPTV VOD for children four days a week and the main genre was the animation. 2) The main reason for watching VOD was by the needs of their children, but the 66% of mothers concern for an excessive level of watching. 3) educational background of mother and monthly house income were significantly correlated with the usage time of IPTV VOD for children.

  • A retrieval performance of VOD sever is estimated by how quickly it services popular videos to users and how many users it is able to service. Each video data is placed on heterogeneous disks and placement techniques are various, retrieval performance is under the control of these elements, so that a retrieval performance is affected by placement policy. In this paper, we place video data considering their characteristics, especially, we place videos distributively according to their popularity. To verify our policy, we make various environment of experiment, estimate a placement policy using popularity of videos and a contrary policy, and compare them.

Time-based DHT Peer Searching Scheme for P2P VOD Service (P2P VOD 서비스를 위한 시간 기반 DHT 피어 탐색 기법)

  • In the typical P2P VOD system, it is very important to develop the fast and efficient peer searching scheme since the peers frequently join and leave to/from P2P system. This paper proposes a new peer searching scheme for P2P VOD system based on DHT network environment. The proposed scheme constructs DHT network by managing the peers having close playback starting times and close network locations into a peer all together. The peer information is mapped onto DHT nodes by hashing the key values each of which consists of the starting time and network location of the peer. From the simulation results, the number of messages required to search the partner peers are decreased, and the number of buffer maps exchanging among the peers are also decreased. The proposed scheme can reduce the average network distances among the partner peers. As a result, the proposed scheme makes routing more efficient and it saves the network resources by decreasing communication traffic overhead.

  • There has been a study about the effective multimedia education using a computer following the appearance of a virtual space. Also, there has been an effort to connect the information & communication technology with education. The popular on-line lecture systems are mostly on English lecture sites. However, they just offer the VOD(Video On Demand) services ignoring students' convenience. To improve these week points, we design and implement the multimedia leaching system focusing on an efficient repeat-effect in order that students can control the Media Player by clicking a sentence on a web page. This paper presents the Editor and Player considering students' interest and the effective learning fruits. So users can easily make multimedia materials and use them to improve their English listening skill.

  • In this paper, an adaptive multimedia synchronization scheme for VOD (Video On Demand) services in internet environments is proposed. This scheme considers the characteristics of MPEG (Moving Picture Expert Group) system stream. Consequently, the intra-synchronization is handled at the pack layer, and the inter-synchronization is handled at the packet layer. The proposed scheme can cope adaptively with variation of packet loss, jitter and client's playback capacity. If there are variations of the packet loss or client's playback capacity, the server will change the transmission rate by selective picture skip. The client can then adjust and control the playback time according to the variation of the network jitter. Our experimental results show that the proposed scheme can quickly adapt to the network condition, and can guarantee a better quality of service than the other existing schemes.

  • The advancement of information technology along with the proliferation of communication and multimedia has increased the demand of digital contents. Video data of digital contents such as VOD, NOD, Digital Library, IPTV, and UCC are getting more permeated in various application fields. Video data have sequential characteristic besides providing the spatial and temporal information in its 3D format, making searching or browsing ineffective due to long turnaround time. In this paper, we suggest ATVC(Authoring Tool for Video Contents) for solving this issue. ATVC is a video editing tool that detects key frames using visual rhythm and insert metadata such as keywords into key frames via XML tagging. Visual rhythm is applied to map 3D spatial and temporal information to 2D information. Its processing speed is fast because it can get pixel information without IDCT, and it can classify edit-effects such as cut, wipe, and dissolve. Since XML data save key frame information via XML tag and keyword information, it can furnish efficient browsing.

  • This paper describes a modeling of service composition manager based on TINA (Telecommunication Information Networking Architecture). The service composition function is mainly motivated by the desire to easily generate new service using existing services from retailers or third party service providers. The TNA-C (Consortium) specification for the service composition does not include the detailed composition procedures and its object models. In this paper, we propose a model of components for the service composition, which adapts a static composition feature in a single provider domain To validate the proposed modeling, we implemented prototype service composition function, which combines two multimedia services; a VOD (Video On Demand) service and a VCS (Video Conference Service) service. As a result, we obtain the specification of the detailed composition architecture between a retailer domain and a third-party service provider domain.

  • IPv6(일명 IPng (Internet Protocol next Generation)은 현재의 인터넷 프로토콜인 IPv4를 개량한 다음 세대의 인터넷 프로토콜이다. 새롭게 개량된 주요내용은 주소공간의 확장, 이동사용자를 위한 IP(Mobile IP)추가, VOD(Video on demand)와 같은 고속통신 QOS(Quality of service) 추가, 그리고 네트워크 계층에서 보안메커니즘 제공 등을 들 수 있다. [1][2][3]. 본논문에서는 이들 중에서 네트워크 계층의 보안 메카니즘을 기존의 전송계층의 SSL(Secure Socket Layer)보안 메카니즘과 비교 분석 하였다.

  • We research and analyze to the IMT-2000, it contains the various problem with the bandwidth and standardization. Finally, we proposed to the method of the standardization and implementation for the Beyond IMT-2000, in this paper. Comparing the Beyond the IMT-2000 take advantage of the aspect of the GPS(global positioning system) service and remote medical treatment service and wireless internet service and VOD(Video on Demand) service with IMT-2000. Henceforth, we are consider to the development of the contents which it is adaptable to various environment.
