We examined seasonal variation in the structure of marine macroalgal communities at five sites around the Byeonsan Peninsula, Korea, from January to October 2011. Sixty eight species were identified, including 11 green, 17 brown and 40 red algae. Species richness was highest at Gyeokpo (51 species) followed by Sambal (47), Gosapo (34), Byeonsan (33), and Habgoo (18). Seaweed biomass ranged from 12.98 to 145.33 g dry $wt/m^2$, with maximum and minimum biomasses at Gyeokpo and Habgoo, respectively. Sargassum thunbergii was the representative alga species occupying 47.89% of the total biomass. The dominant seaweeds were S. thunbergii, Corallina pilulifera, Ulva spp, Gracilaria vermiculophylla, and Carpopeltis affinis. No distinctive vertical distribution of seaweeds was found because S. thunbergii, Ulva spp, and G. vermiculophylla were all distributed from high to low shore. Community indices were as follows: dominance index (DI), 0.44-0.61; richness index (R), 6.27-10.35; evenness index (J'), 0.38-0.59; and diversity index (H'), 1.48-1.71. Gyeokpo had the most biomass and highest species richness, and the lowest percentage of Ulva species. However, species richness declined at Gyeokpo, from 78 to 51 species within 10 years, implying that eutrophication and sedimentation from Mankyeong and Dongjin rivers have reduced the stability of seaweed communities.

Seasonal variation in marine macroalgal community structure was examined at the intertidal zones of Heuksando and Hongdo, Shinan, Korea, from July 2008 to May 2009. In total, 86 macroalgal species were identified, including 12 green, 19 brown, and 55 red algae; 67 species at Heuksando and 70 species at Hongdo, were observed. Annual seaweed biomass was 252.44 g dry $wt/m^2$ at Heuksando and 217.67 g dry $wt/m^2$ at Hongdo. The dominant seaweed in importance value (IV > 15) differed between the sites: Sargassum thunbergii at Heuksando and Corallina pilulifera at Hongdo. The vertical distribution pattern of seaweeds from the upper to lower intertidal zones at Heuksando was Gloiopeltis spp., Ulva spp. - S. thunbergii, S. fusiforme, Hildenbrandia rubra - S. thunbergii, C. pilulifera. On the rocky shore of Hongdo, seaweed zonation was distinct: Porphyra yezoensis, Gloiopeltis spp., Ulva spp. - C. pilulifera, S. fusiforme, Myelophycus simplex - Chondrus ocellatus, C. pilulifera, and Carpopeltis affinis. Annual seaweed coverage, richness index (R), evenness index (J'), and diversity index (H') values were greater at Hongdo (41.35%, 12.82, 0.59, and 2.50 respectively) than at Heuksando (31.54%, 11.93, 0.44, and 1.87 respectively), which may indicate that the seaweed community at Hongdo is more stable relative to the one at Heuksando.
The capital city of Himalayan Country Nepal, Kathmandu Valley is surrounded by consecutive high mountains, which limits the air distribution and mixing effects significantly. It in turn generates steady air flow pattern over a year except in monsoon season. The air shed in the Valley is easily trapped by the surrounded mountains and the inversion layer formulated as the cap. The $PM_{10}$ concentration was noticeably higher than the standard level (120 ${\mu}g/m^3$) in urban and suburban area of Kathmandu valley for all seasons except monsoon period. The Valley area experiences similar wind patterns (W, WWS, and S) for a year but the Easterly wind prevails only during the monsoon period. There was low and calm wind blows during the winter season. Because of this air flow structure, the air emission from various sources is accumulated within the valley air, high level of air pollution is frequently recorded with other air polluted cities over the world. In this Valley area, brick kilns are recognized as the major air pollution source followed by vehicles. Mostly Bull Trench Kiln (BKT), Hoffman Kiln and Vertical Shaft Brick Kiln (VSBK) are in operation for brick firing in Kathmandu valley where the fuels such as crushed coal, saw dust, and natural gas are used for processing bricks in this study. Tool for the Reduction and Assessment of Chemical and Other Environmental Impacts (TRACI) was used for screening and quantifying the potential impacts of air emission from firing fuels. The total Environmental Performance Score (EPS) was estimated and the EPS of coal was approximately 2.5 times higher than those of natural gas and saw dust. It is concluded that the crushed coal has more negative impact to the environment and human health than other fuel sources. Concerning the human health and environment point of view, alternative environment friendly firing fuel need to be used for brick industry in the kiln and the air pollution control devices also need to be applied for minimizing the air emissions from the kilns.
The main cause of global warming is carbon dioxide generated from the use of fossil fuels, and active research on the reduction of carbon is in progress to slow down the increasing global warming. Wind turbines generate electricity from kinetic energy of wind and are considered as representative for an energy source that helps to reduce carbon emission. Since the kinetic energy of wind is proportional to the cube of the wind speed, the intensity of wind affects wind farm construction validity the most. Therefore, to organize a wind farm, validity analysis should be conducted first through measurement of the wind resources. To facilitate the approval and permission and reduce installation cost, measuring sensors should be installed at locations below the actual wind turbine hub. Wind conditions change in shape with air density, and air density is most affected by the variable sterrain and surface type. So the magnitude of wind speed depends on the ground altitude. If wind conditions are measured at a location below the wind turbine hub, the wind speed has to be extrapolated to the hub height. This correction of wind speed according to height is done with the Deacon equation used in the statistical analysis of previously observed data. In this study, the optimal Deacon equation parameter was obtained through the analysis of the correction of the wind speed error with the Deacon equation based on the characteristics of terrain.

In this paper, we propose an electric field enhanced postexposure baking (EFE-PEB) method to obtain deep and high aspect ratio pattern profile in near-field recording. To describe the photoacid distribution under an external electric field during the PEB, we derived the governing equations based on Fick's second law of diffusion. From the results of the numerical calculations, it is found that the vertical movement of photoacid increases while the lateral movement is stationary as electric field varies from 0 to $8.0{\times}10^6\;V/m$. Also, it is proven that the profile of near-field recording is improved by using the EFE-PEB method with increased depth, higher aspect ratio and larger sidewall angle.

Degraded plantation forests are increasing because of unfavorable forestry conditions prevailing in Japan, including falling timber prices, increasing operational costs, and aging and declining forestry workforce. To remedy this situation, appropriate management strategy is required. This study introduces the challenges of Odai Town, Mie Prefecture that employed a new management strategy by evaluating site suitability for conifer forests and that proposes a new forest management regime of planting deciduous trees in unsuitable sites. The site suitability for conifer forests was evaluated from two aspects: the natural site conditions and the relationship among site conditions, growth, and damage by Anaglyptus subfasciatus Pic. in Cryptomeria japonica D. Don and Chamaecyparis obtusa Sieb. Et Zucc. forests. By analyzing the relationship among site conditions, growth, and insect damage based on field data obtained in plantation forests, growth evaluation and insect damage evaluation maps were developed. Based on the natural forest investigation, natural site condition maps for C. japonica and C. obtusa were established. Furthermore, by integrating these evaluation maps with the forest road maps showing the accessibility to the forest, the forest management regime for the whole plantation area of Odai Town was established. The forest management regime map indicates the sites suitable for forestry: suitable for long-rotation, short-rotation, and potential sites for short-rotation. The sites unsuitable for forestry were considered to be more suitable for broadleaved forests. Clear-cutting was conducted in a small area and different seral stage saplings (approximately 20 deciduous tree species) suitable to the site conditions were planted in an area of $80-120m^2$ protected by deer-fences. This might establish a forest composed of many species with a multilayer vertical forest structure in a short period. The planted saplings were distributed neither randomly nor uniformly to reflect the natural distribution of trees in the forest. A challenge to develop new products using the deciduous trees has started, such as wood chips for preparing smoked food, essential oil, and deodorizer. As these challenges have just begun, their effects on enhancing sustainable resource management are still being monitored. Even with the challenges, this regime can be of high value as a management strategy to remedy the situation of expansion of degraded forests in Japan.
As a society develops and a standard of living raises, the orthoganthic operation, the purpose of which is the harmony of oral and surrounding tissue, the improvement of the basal bony relations for stable tooth-support, and the improvement of facial appearance, generalized in our society. This is a clinical study on 135 patients who underwent orthognathic operation at the Dept. of Oral and Maxillofacial surgery, College of Dentistry, Kyung-Hee University during the last 5 years. The results were as follows. 1. The ratio of female to male was 1.4 : 1. 2. The age distribution of most patients was the period of 20 years through 24 years. 3. The major reasons for seeking orthagnathic surgery were ethetic complanints(94.8%), and additional reason was functional complaints such as masticatory disturbances, phonetic disturbances, and TMJ discomfort. 4. In order to consult about orthognathic surgery, the patients first visited to the Dept. of oral and maxillofacial surgery at the ratio of 24.0%. 5. The ratio of the patients who underwent the presurgical orthodontic treatment was 79.5%, and the treatment usually required the period from 7 months to 18 months. 6. The setback amount was less than 10mm at the ratio of 85.8%. 7. The orthognathic operations which were practiced were usually composed of ramus osteotomy such as sagittal split ramus osteotomy and vertical ramus osteotomy and additional surgery on mandible at the ratio of 86.7%, and SSRO was done at the ratio of 62.5%, and EVRO was done at the ratio of 37.5%.
Magnetic survey flights by helicopters are usually parallel to the topographic surface, with a nominal clearance, but especially in high-resolution surveys the altitudes at which observations are made may be too variable to be regarded as a smooth surface. We have developed a reduction procedure for such data using the method of equivalent sources, where surrounding sources are included to control edge effects, and data from points distributed randomly in three dimensions are directly modelled. Although the problem is generally underdetermined, the method of conjugate gradients can be used to find a minimum-norm solution. There is freedom to select the harmonic function that relates the magnetic anomaly with the source. When the upward continuation function operator is selected, the equivalent source is the magnetic anomaly itself. If we select as source a distribution of magnetic dipoles in the direction of the ambient magnetic field, we can easily derive reduction-to-pole anomalies by rotating the direction of the magnetic dipoles to vertical.
An analytical solution procedure is described to estimate the developed passive lateral earth Pressures behind a vertical rigid retaintng wall rotating about its toe into a mass of cohesionless soil. Various stases of wall rotation, starting from an at-rest state to an initial Passive state to a full Passive state, are considered in the analysis. Condition of failure defined by a modified Mohr-coulomb criterion, together with equilibrium conditions, is used to obtain the necessary equations for the solution. Using methods of stress characteristics and numerical finite difference, a complete solution within and on the boundaries of the entire solution domain is made possible. The variations of the soil shear strength and the wall friction at various depths and stages of wall rotation are also taken into account in the analysis. The results predicted by the developed method of analysis are compared with those obtained from the experimental model tests on loose and dense sand. The comparisons show good agreements at various stages of retaining wall rotation Fin- ally, results of analytical parametric study are presented to demonstrate the effects of wall fric- tion on the resultant thrust and distribution of developed lateral earth pressures.

The community structure, phytomass, and primary productivity in Thuja orientalis stands on a limestone area located in Maepo-up, Chungbuk province in Korea were estimated quantitatively. Seven species including a small proportion of Quercus dentata were identified in the tree layer, 26 species including Ulmus macrocarpa in the shrub layer, and 79 species including Carex lnceolata in the herb layer of the Thuja stands. The vertical distribution of the fine root phytomass exhibited a power functional decrease relative to the soil depth. The seasonal changes in the fine root phytomass at a soil depth of 5 cm were closely related to the pecipitation in the study area. The productivity of the stand of stems, branches, leaves, and roots were 10.72, 0.82, 0.45 and 6.46 ton DM. $ha^{-1}$ .$yr^{-1}$, respectively. The Thuja stand had a high foliage(25%) and low rate of production per unit of foliage. The annual turnover rate of the fine roots int he Thuja stand was 6.71 $yr^{-1}$. The net primary production of the overstory including the understory was estimated at 19.48 ton DM.$ha^{-1}$.$yr^{-1}$ including an underground section of 6.46 ton DM.$ha^{-1}$.$yr^{-1}$(33%). The allocation ratio of net production to root was lower in the limestone Thuja communities than at the nearby non-limestone ones, whereas the production efficiency to leaf weight was higher in the limestone communities. These results would seem to indicate that the limited production capacity is due to the calcium toxicity and low availability of iron and phosphorus in a limestone soil with a high pH, calcium, and bicarbonate content with a strategy for survival in a hostile habitat.
