Numerical study on the heat transfer characteristics of the condenser for the car air-conditioners (자동차 공조용 응축기의 열전달특성에 관한 수치적 연구)

  • This paper contains a verification of simulation program to predict the capacity of a condenser used in car air-conditioners. Verification of simulation program is carried out with the comparison error between experiment and simulation bounds within 3.5%. The present investigation shows the results for heat transfer rates of condenser under different operating conditions, such as velocity and degree of superheat. The range of front velocity of air is 1∼5m/s. As the front velocity is increased, the heat transfer rate of condenser is largely increased at a low velocity range. In a meanwhile, heat transfer rate of condenser is almost constant in a range of velocity over 3m/s. As for the effect of inlet pressure of refrigerant on the heat transfer rate, we obtained the similar trend of heat transfer rates as like varying the front velocity, Also we have calculated the heat transfer rates with varying inlet superheats of refrigerant, the larger the superheat is, the more heat transfer rate is obtained.

  • This acticle describes the control method of mobile robots for avoiding slip and turnover on sloped terrain. An inexpensive gyro/vision sensor module is suggested for obtaining the information of terrain at present and future. Using the terrain information and the robot state, the maximum limit velocity of the forward velocity of the robot is defined fur avoiding slip and turnover of the robot. Simultaneously the maximum value of the robot velocity is reflected to an operator in the form of reflective force on a forte feedback joystick. Consequently the operator can recognize the maximum velocity of the robot determined by the terrain information and the robot state. In this point of view, the inconsistency of the robot movement and the user's command caused by the limit velocity of the robot can be compensated by the reflective force. The experimenal results show the effectiveness of the suggested method.

SMBH Mass Estimate Discrepancy and Its Origin of NGC 6861

  • NGC 6861 is the brightest S0 galaxy in the Telescopium group. It has unusually high central stellar velocity dispersion (~400 km/s) and clear rotation (~250 km/s). Considering the well-known M-sigma relation, this large central dispersion implies that the central supermassive black hole (SMBH) has mass comparable to the most massive black holes in the Universe. However, the mass implied by the bulge luminosity-SMBH mass relation is an order of magnitude lower than that predicted by the M-sigma relation. In order to determine the origin of this inconsistency, we obtain integral field spectroscopy using the Wide Field Spectrograph (WiFeS) on the ANU 2.3m telescope. The data are used to map the velocity and velocity dispersion fields which show that our measurements are consistent with those from the other literature. The large field of view the WiFeS observations have allows us to map the kinematics of a much greater portion of NGC 6861 and reveals that the eastern part of the galaxy has higher velocity and dispersion than the rest of halo. We discuss the origin of the unusual fast rotation and the discrepancy of two SMBH mass estimations from three plausible perspectives: 1) the interaction between subgroups of NGC 6861 and its counterpart, NGC 6868; 2) the inhibited growth of the stellar bulge by the AGN activity which leads to an underestimate the SMBH mass when using the bulge luminosity-SMBH mass relation; and 3) gas rich minor mergers that could be crucial for increasing both rotation velocity and velocity dispersion during the evolution of NGC 6861.

  • The velocity changes of magneto surface acoustic wave (MSAW) have been investigated in the MSAW devices composed of wedge type transducer and as-sputtered ($Fe_{1-x}$ $Co_{x}$ )$_{89}$ $Zr_{ 11}$ (x=0~1.0)amorphous films on glass substrates. The velocity changes of devices depended sensistively on exciting frequency of MSAW, applying the DC bias magnetic field. film thickness and film composition. Particularly. it was conformed that velocity changes increased with the increase of the exciting frequency of MSAW and the thickness of magnetic films. A device deposited x= 0.8 film along the MSAW propagation direction among the devices exhibited a large velocity change of 0.062% at 8.7 MHz for the applied field of 70 Oe.

  • A CW Doppler radar can measure radial velocity of an object. It detects a Doppler frequency shift that is proportioned to radial velocity of a moving object. To detect a Doppler frequency shift, FFT(Fast Fourier Transform) is conducted. In this process, the time domain received signal is transformed to a frequency domain. A number of FFT affects not only the time resolution but also signal to noise ratio of received signal. So finally it is related with a radial velocity accuracy. Therefore in this paper, it is described the relation of time resolution and the radial velocity accuracy.

  • The purpose of this paper is to investigate the effect of arc current and contact velocity on the erosion of silver contact to be used in low voltage circuit breakers. The arc current range from $2kA_{rms}$ to $20kA_{rms}$. A test system allows the control of the opening velocity profiles with contact velocities up to 10m/s and also enables the synchronization of the contact opening with a point on the arc current waveform. Contact erosion is evaluated by measuring the mass change of the cathode and anode. The results show that increase the opening velocity from 2m/s to 6m/s leads to an decrease in the contact erosion. The material transfer from one electrode to another is shown to depend on the transfer charge and the opening velocity of the contacts.

The Analysis of the transfer of angular momentum on upper extremity during free Throw Motion in Basketball (농구 자유투 동작시 상지분절의 각운동량 전이 분석)

  • The purpose of this study was to obtain the data for stable and accurate techniques of the free throw in basketball. The subjects of this study were seven male basketball player consisted of college students athletes. Free throw motions were taken by video camera. The three-dimensional coordinates was processed by DLT. The variables were the velocity, the angular velocity of the upper extremity segments, degree, and angular momentum. The result of analysis is summarized as follows. 1. The velocity and angular velocity of the upper extremity segment was showed an gradual increase and a smooth velocity transfer, transferring from proximal segment to distal segment at free throw motion in basketball. 2. The local term and remote term angular velocity momentum of the proximal segment showed larger than that of the distal segment in X, Y, Z axis component all. 3. The remote term angular momentum was showed larger than that of the local term angular momentum in X, Y, Z axis component all. 4. The angular motion of the upper trunk and upper arm, upper arm and forearm was showed in opposite direction and symmetrical angular momentum in local term angular momentum of the Y and Z axis component. 5. All the segments of upper extremity segment was showed left rotation in remote term angular momentum of the Y axis component and right rotation in remote term angular momentum of the Z axis component.

Numerical Analysis in Unsteady State on variation of Diameter and Environmental Velocity of Carbon Heating Source (탄소발열체의 외부유속 및 직경변화에 대한 비정상상태에서의 수치해석적 연구)

  • This paper represents the numerical analysis in unsteady state on the variation of diameter and environmental velocity of carbon heating source. In general heating system, the oil and sheath heater is widely used, but these systems have many problems. So, the heating source with carbon ingredient has been researched in many country about manufacture, thermal and electrical properties. In this research, the carbon heating source was studied through numerical analysis on several conditions of unsteady state, heat generation, diameter and environmental velocity. The temperature distributions at steady state are appeared as a non-proportional linear pattern with variations of environmental velocity due to the Nesselt number with convective heat flux is proportioned to 0.805 of Reynolds number. As the radius is increasing, the temperature distributions is appeared the minus tilt because of the environmental condition is cooling by constant temperature. So, the correlation equation between temperature at steady state and environmental velocity was obtained.

  • Compacted graphite iron 340 was carried out the heat treatment from 873 to 1,273 K. Compacted graphite iron 340 was evaluated relationship between the sound velocity, the attenuation coefficient and the tensile strength. The obtained results are as following. The signal strength of C scan images were weak according to increasing of heat treatment temperature and time. The amplitude of A scan and B scan was also low. This can be cause that the graphite was grown into the type of vermicular, and the many of grain boundary with ultrasound scattering were increase. The sound velocity was depend upon the heat treatment temperature and time, the attenuation coefficient had nothing to do with the temperature and time. The higher the heat treatment temperature, the tensile strength and the sound velocity were decreased. However, the tensile strength was proportional to the sound velocity. The higher tensile strength, the faster the sound velocity.

  • The stability of a rotating cantilever pipe conveying fluid with a crack and tip mass is investigated by the numerical method. That is, the effects of the rotating angular velocity, mass ratio, crack severity and tip mass on the critical flow velocity for flutter instability of system are studied. The equations of motion of rotating pipe are derived by using the Euler-Bernoulli beam theory and the extended Hamilton's principle. The crack section of pipe is represented by a local flexibility matrix connecting two undamaged pipe segments. Also, the crack is assumed to be in the first mode of fracture and always opened during the vibrations. When the tip mass and crack are constant, the critical flow velocity for flutter is proportional to the rotating angular velocity of pipe. In addition, the stability maps of the rotating pipe system as a rotating angular velocity and mass ratio ${\beta}$ are presented.
