Velocity Profile Generation of CNC Machines by the Look Ahead Algorithm (Look Ahead 알고리즘에 의한 CNC 공작 기계의 속도 궤적 생성 연구)

  • This paper proposes the look ahead algorithm with the trapezoidal velocity trajectory in each G-code block. The algorithm requires the information on the length of next trajectories and the connecting angle between each trajectiories. A method of generating the maximum corner velocity upon the connecting angle within the machining tolerance is developed and applied to the look ahead algorithm. Simulations and experiments witha machining center show the effectiveness of the methodology.

  • An upstream scheme based on the pseudostress-velocity mixed formulation is studied to solve convection-dominated Oseen equations. Lagrange multipliers are introduced to treat the trace-free constraint and the lowest order Raviart-Thomas finite element space on rectangular mesh is used. Error analysis for several quantities of interest is given. Particularly, first-order convergence in $L^2$ norm for the velocity is proved. Finally, numerical experiments for various cases are presented to show the efficiency of this method.

  • Samsung Electronics has developed high performance velocity and position controller for induction motors, and succeeded in mass production for the first time in Korea. Dynamic performance and final control accuracy of the controller are equivalent to those of AC servo motor controller. At present, we adopted the controller as spindle motor drive for Samsung CNC systems, and expect its wide use in industry as general purpose velocity and position controller for induction motor.

  • Missile and target closing velocity is used in the proportional navigation(PN) missile guidance loop. But it is difficult to estimate the closing velocity when passive seeker is used and only the Line-of-Sight(LOS) rate is available in the guidance loop. In this study, new closing velocity estimation method is developed. This method uses LOS rate measurement only and uses some characteristics of PN guidance law. The Lyapunov method is used to analyze the stability of the developed estimation method.

  • Linear motion and angular motion in task space are handled separately in joint velocity planning for redundant robot manipulators. In solving inverse kinematic equations with given joint velocity limits, we consider the order of priority for linear motion and angular motion. The proposed method will be useful in such applications where only linear motions are important than angular motions or vice versa.

  • In this paper, we propose a non-invasive method to estimate blood velocity from the real medical images. To measure the magnitude and direction components associated with the blood velocity, we apply the optical flow analysis algorithm. It is demonstrated that the accuracy of the blood velocity estimate could possibly be increased by segmenting the optical flow region. We call this the Region Optical Flow(ROF) algorithm. We carried out some preliminary experiments using the aorta medical images, and corresponding regional optical flow diagrams are provided.

  • The velocity and motion of single air bubbles rising through lubricant have been experimentally investigated to test the effect of silicon defoamant The investigation reveals that the velocity is markedly retarded by the addition of small amount of silicone defoamant. This retardation of rising velocity of air bubbles is proposed by increasing of Drag force or reducing of Buoyancy force around the surfaces of the bubbles.

  • Based on the Green's function technique, an analytical approach is developed to examine the surface wave screening effectiveness of composite wave barriers. The composite barrier consists of a high velocity layer sandwiched between two thin layers of low shear velocity materials. The high velocity layer is represented by differential matrix operators which relate the wave fields on each side of the layer. The low velocity layers are modeled by non-rigid contact conditions which allow partial sliding at the interfaces. Screening ratio of barriers with various combination of material, geometric, and non-rigidness parameters are compared and discussed in some detail.
