  • Higenamine [1-(4-hydroxy-6, 7-dihydroxy-l, 2, 3, 4-tetrahydroisoquinoline) is a cardiotonic constituent of Aconiti tuber, one of the most widely prescribed oriental medicines. S-(-)higenamine was reported to have a stronger cardiotonic activity than R-(+)-higenamine and known as a central intermediate in the biosynthesis of various benzyl isoquionoline alkaloids in plants. The separation of higenamine enantiomers has been accomplished with capillary electrophoresis using cyclodextrins (CDs) as chiral selectors. Good resolution of this enantiomers was obtained using a 50 mM sodium phosphate buffer containing hydroxypropyl $\beta$-CDs using 27 cm fused silica capillary (50${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ i.d., 20 cm to detector) at 25 $^{\circ}C$. With the electric field of 340 V/cm, the separation time of higenamine enantiomers was less than 6 min. Under this optimum conditions, the relative standard deviations of migration time and peak area were less than 1.6% and 3.2%. A 512-channel diode array detector was confirmed for the higenamine. The detection limits (S/N = 3) of these enantiomers are $1.5mutextrm{m}$/mL. We confirmed the chiral form of higenamine in medicinal plants.

  • Vincristine and vinblastine isolated from Vinco spp. , and podophyllotoxine derivatives isolated from Podophyllum spp. are usefulas anticancerous components obtaned from higher plants. More thanten antineoplastic compounds are now following them as anticancerousagents from higher plants. In my laboratory, Sarcoma 180A has beenused as the first screening test. By this method, I have found outsome kinds of antineoplastic constituents from active plants extracts .For instance, bisaborane type compounds were isolated from Curcumaxanthorrhiza, one of Indonesian plants; a morphinane type compoundfromCocculus trilobus; cyclic hexapeptides from Rubia akane and R.cordiorta. Seven components having antineoplastic actirity wereisolated from Rubia spp. except. R. tinctoria. Their structures wereelucidated except RA-Vl by chemical reaction and variovs instrumentalanalysis as shown in Fig. Among of them, RA-Vll showed strong activityagainst P388 Lymphocytic leukemia, L2O, B16 melanoma, Lewis lungcarcinoma, colon 38 and Ehrlich carcinoma. RA-V revealed excellentactivity against MM2 mammary carcinoma. The· value of acute LD5O ofRA-ViI were 10. Omg/kg( iP) and 16.5mg/kg( po ) respectiveIy . Therapruticratio was 400, compared with 10 of mitomycin C. QSAR was also appliedto these compounds by elongation of ether and ester side chains atR'. Mechanism of action of RA-Vll was also investigated and wasassumed to be inhibition of protein biosynthesis .

  • A solution-processed multicomponent oxide, yttrium hafnium zinc oxide (YHZO), was synthesized and deposited as a gate insulator. The YHZO film annealed at $600^{\circ}C$ contained an amorphous phase based on the results of thermogravimetry, differential thermal analysis, and X-ray diffraction. The electrical characteristics of the YHZO film were analyzed by measuring the leakage current. The high dielectric constant (16.4) and high breakdown voltage (71.6 V) of the YHZO films resulted from the characteristics of $HfO_2$ and $Y_2O_3$, respectively. To examine if YHZO can be applied to thin-film transistors (TFTs), indium gallium zinc oxide TFTs with a YHZO gate insulator were also fabricated. The desirable characteristics of the YHZO films when used as a gate insulator show that the limitations of the general binary-oxide-based materials and of the conventional vacuum processes can be overcome.

  • We establish a visible light emission from porous polycrystalline silicon nano structure(PPNS). The PPNS layer are formed on heavily doped n-type Si substrate. 2um thickness of undoped polycrystalline silicon deposited using LPCVD (Low Pressure Chemical Vapor Deposition) anodized in a HF: ethanol(=1:1) as functions of anodizing conditions. And then a PPNS layer thermally oxidized for 1 hr at $900^{\circ}C$. Subsequently, thin metal Au as a top electrode deposited onto the PPNS surface by E-beam evaporator and, in order to establish ohmic contact, an thermally evaporated Al was deposited on the back side of a Si-substrate. When the top electrode biased at +6V, the electron emission observed in a PPNS which caused by field-induces electron emission through the top metal. Among the PPNSs as functions of anodization conditions, the PPNS anodized at a current density of $10mA/cm^{2}$ for 20 sec has a lower turn-on voltage and a higher emission current. Furthermore, the behavior of electron emission is uniformly maintained.

  • Ruthenium is one of the noble metals having good thermal and chemical stability, low resistivity, and relatively high work function(4.71eV). Because of these good physical, chemical, and electrical properties, Ru thin films have been extensively studied for various applications in semiconductor devices such as gate electrode for FET, capacitor electrodes for dynamic random access memories(DRAMs) with high-k dielectrics such as $Ta_2O_5$ and (Ba,Sr)$TiO_3$, and capacitor electrode for ferroelectric random access memories(FRAMs) with Pb(Zr,Ti)$O_3$. Additionally, Ru thin films have been studied for copper(Cu) seed layers for Cu electrochemical plating(ECP) in metallization process because of its good adhesion to and immiscibility with Cu. We investigated Ru thin films by thermal ALD with various deposition parameters such as deposition temperature, oxygen flow rate, and source pulse time. Ru thin films were grown by ALD(Lucida D100, NCD Co.) using RuDi as precursor and $O_2$ gas as a reactant at 200~$350^{\circ}C$.

  • The effect of surrounding air velocity on the soot deposition process from a diffusion flame to a solid wall was investigated in a microgravity environment to attain in-situ observations of the process. An ethylene($C_2H_4$) diffusion flame was formed around a cylindrical rod burner in surrounding air velocity of $v_{air}$=2.5, 5, and 10 cm/s with oxygen concentration of 35 % and wall temperature of 300 K. Laser extinction was adopted to determine the soot volume fraction distribution between the flame and burner wall. The experimental results show that the soot particle distribution region moves closer to the surface of the wall with increasing surrounding air velocity. A numerical simulation was also performed to understand the motion of soot particles in the flame and the characteristics of the soot deposition to the wall. The results successfully predicted the differences in the motion of soot particles by different surrounding air velocity near the burner surface and are in good agreement with observed soot behavior in microgravity. A comparison of the calculations and experimental results led to the conclusion that a consideration of the thermophoretic effect is essential to understand the soot deposition on walls.

  • This investigation reports the grinding characteristics of titanium alloy(Ti-6Al-4V). Grinding experiments were performed at various grinding conditions. The grinding forces and grinding force ratio were measured to investigate the grindability of titanium alloy with the Diamond and CBN wheel. To investigate the grinding characteristics of titanium alloy grinding force ratio and grinding ratio were measured. Surface profile of wheel was also measured with tracer and the ground surfaces and chip were observed with SEM. Grinding-ratio of titanium alloy was much lower than that of other materials. Grinding-ratio of titanium alloy with Diamond wheel was almost six times larger than that with CBN wheel.

  • Stratigraphic subdivision, correlation and depositional environments of Oligocene strata in the Cheju basin are studied using microfossils, wireline-log, trace elements from Geobuk-1, Okdom-1 and JDZ V-2 exploratory wells as well as seismic attributes. Application of these Integrated approaches is becoming increasingly an important tool in sedimentary and petroleum geology. The purpose of this study is to provide an integrated sequence-stratigraphic interpretation for petroleum system in the Cheju basin. During the last several years the Cheju basin has been studied for petroleum potential in terms of sequence stratigraphy. The strata assigned to be of the Early Miocene in the previous studies are reinterpreted to be of Oligocene in age. Depositional environments of these strata are also reinterpreted to have been influenced significantly by marine floodings. This interpretation is supported by the lines of evidence such as occurrences of abundant dinoflagellates and calcareous nannofossils, higher sulfur (1000-10000 ppm), TOC contents $(>1{\~}3{\%})$ and hydrogen index, and specific biomarkers such as dinostrane and $C_{30}$ 4-methyl steranes. Seismic facies, determined as a fairly continuous amplitude reflection, relatively parallel uniform strata, also provides a clue for recognizing marine transgressions during the Oligocene. Two 2nd--order stratigraphic cycles are observed in Oligocene strata based on well-log responses and the presence of microfossils. Each sequence comprises shallow marine deposits in the lower part and inner-outer neritic deposits in the upper part, thus showing a upward-deepening trend. In petroleum exploration point of view, the presence of marine strata would provide a better exploration potential for source rock and reservoir quality in the Cheju basin, offshore Korea.

  • The study was designed to evaluate the seasonal influences on cross-bred cow milk composition and paneer yield in Dhauladhar mountain range of sub-himalayan region. Fifty samples from each season were collected from a herd of $Jersey{\times}Red\;Sindhi{\times}Local$ cross-bred cows during summer (April-June), rainy (July-September) and winter (November-February) and analyzed for fat, total solids (TS) and solids not fat (SNF). Paneer was prepared by curdling milk at $85{\pm}2^{\circ}C$ with 2.5 per cent citric acid solution. Overall mean for fat, TS and SNF content of milk and paneer yield were 4.528, 13.310, 8.754 and 15.218 per cent respectively. SNF and TS content varied among seasons being highest in winter (8.983% and 13.639%) followed by summer (8.835% and 13.403%) and lowest in rainy season (8.444% and 12.888%). Paneer yield was lowest (14.792%) in rainy season and highest (15.501%) in winter season.

  • We have analyzed the double insulating layer consisting of anodic oxide and ZnS through TEM experiments. The use of double insulating layer for HgCdTe surface passivation is one of the promising passivation method which has been recently studied deeply and the double insulating layer is formed by the evaporation of ZnS on the top of anodic oxide layer grown in H$_{2}$O$_{2}$ electrolyte. The structure of anodic oxide layer on HgCdTe is amorphous but the structure of oxide layer after the evaporation of ZnS has been changed to micro-crystalline. The interface layer of 150.angs. thickness has been found between ZnS and anodic oxide layer and is estimated to be ZnO layer. The results of analysis on the chemical components of ZnS, the interface layer and anodic oxide layer have showed that Zn has diffused into the anodic oxide layer deeply while Hg has been significantly decreased from HgCdTe bulk to the top of oxide layer. The formation of ZnO interface layer and the change of structure of anodic oxide layer after the evaporation of ZnS are estimated to be defects or to induce the defects which might possibly affect the increase of the positive fixed charges shown in C-V measurements of HgCdTe MIS.
