Screening for Antioxidative Activities of Yeasts on Fish Oil (어유에 대한 효모와 항산화효과)

  • A general screening test for the expression of antioxidative activity was performed on over 36 cultures belong to yeast isolated from soy sauce, Makkuli, and molasses. Antioxidative activities of yeasts were examined by measuring oxidation such as peroxide value and thiobarbituric acid value in fish oil. Of these cultures, Saccharomyces cerevisiae IFO 2114 were found to have strong antioxidative activity. Saccharomyces rouxii and Torulopsis etchellsii isolated from soy sauce showed the strongest antioxidative activity among yeasts. Pichia ohmerii isolated from Makkuli showed the strongest antioxidative activity and Candida versatilis isolated from molasses showed also relative strong antioxidative activity.

Beef Tallow Hydrolysis by Immobilized Lipase

  • Beef tallow, which is an industrial lipid substrate, was hydrolyzed by lipase immobilized on a high-density polyethylene (HDPE) powder. Ethanol pre-washing process affected the immobilization efficiency. Half-life of storage of the HDPE at $4^{\circ}C$ was 150 days. And after 10 times of repeated use, more than 50% of initial activity remained. An apparent Michaelis constant ($K_m$) and maximum velocity ($V_{max}$) were 2.7M, and 1.4 mmol/min/l for immobilized lipase, and 0.5 M, and 1.9 mmol/min/l for soluble lipase, respectively.

  • We experienced one case of schizophrenia. A patient who has hypertetyion & c.v.a as a past history was suffer from conspitation, headache, nausea, sweating, insomnia, & etc. This study is peformed to find out gypsum fibrosum enema theraphy has a clinical effect on constipation with schizophrenia. Gypsum fibrosum enema theraphy has a sufficient effect. Altought, the most important thing is that schizophrenia is almost due to seven feelings. So maybe more and more studies are need in the schizophrenia & seven feelings.

Weldability of 12% Cr steel by thermally simulated HAZ (열 영향부의 시물레이션에 의한 12% Cr강의 용접성 평가)

  • This investigation is concerned with the toughness and microstructure of manneristically simulated HAZ in 12% Cr steel. Unnotched specimens were subjected to weld thermal cycles a weld simulator. The parameters-peak temperatures, cooling rate, influence of PWHT and plastic deformation were considered. After weld simulation, the specimens were heat-treated, V-notched and impact tested. An optical metallographic examination was performed to correlate the HAZ toughness with microstructure. Also a fractographic examination was done to obtain information on the fracture mode. The toughness of the coarse grained zone and the part of HAZ subjected to a peak temperature range 700-800.deg. C are lower than the other parts. However, they are still high enough. The double PWHT cycle could not improve the HAZ toughness in present study. However, if the first PWHT is conducted before the work piece is cooled below $M_f$, it is expected that the double PWHA may be beneficial to the toughness of the HAZ. It is also expected that martensitic welding can be used on production welds.

열처리에 따른 a-IGZO 소자의 전기적 특성과 조성 분포

  • Hydrogenated amorphous Si (a-Si:H), low temperature poly Si (LTPS) 등 기존 thin film transistors (TFTs)에 사용되던 채널 물질을 대체할 재료로써 다양한 연구가 진행되고 있는 amorphous indium-gallium-zinc-oxide (a-IGZO)는 TFT에 적용하였을 때 뛰어난 전기적 특성과 재연성을 나타낼 뿐만 아니라 넓은 밴드갭을 가져 투명소자로도 응용이 가능하다. 본 연구에서는 a-IGZO의 열처리에 따른 소자의 전기적 특성과 조성 분포의 관계를 확인하기 위해 다음과 같이 실험을 진행하였다. Si/SiO2 기판 위에 DC sputter를 이용하여 IGZO를 증착하고 $350^{\circ}C$에서 열처리를 한 후 evaporator로 Al 전극을 형성시켰다. 이 때 전기적 특성의 변화를 비교하기 위해 열처리 한 샘플과 열처리 하지 않은 샘플에 대해 I-V 특성을 측정하였고, 채널 내부의 조성 분포 변화를 transmission electron microscopy (TEM)의 energy dispersive spectrometer (EDS)를 이용하여 관찰하였다. 그 결과 열처리 된 a-IGZO 채널 층의 산소 비율이 감소하였으며 전체적인 조성이 고르게 분포 되었고 전기적 특성은 향상되었다.

  • 직접 메탄올 연료전지는 휴대용기기의 전원으로써 기대되고 있다. 그러나 메탄올의 crossover, 느린 산화반응과 같은 몇 가지 해결해야 할 문제점을 갖고 있다. 이에 메탄올을 대체할 연로로서 이론적으로 높은 기전력 (1.45 V)을 갖는 개미산이 제안되었다. 본 연구에서는 직접 개미산 연료전지에 대한 이전 연구를 바탕으로 개미산 연료전지에 우수한 성능을 나타내는 촉매를 개발하고자 하였다. 기존의 연구에서 Pt-Pd/C 촉매가 개미산에 대해 우수한 산화반응을 보이며 높은 OCP를 나타내어, 본 연구에서는 deposition method을 이용하여 Pt-Pd 촉매를 제조한 후 그 특성을 조사하였다. Pt-Pd 촉매는 이전의 연구에서 우수한 성능을 나타낸 Pt-Pd 촉매보다 상온에서 2배 이상의 우수한 성능을 나타내었다.

Hydrogen Storage by Carbon Fibers Synthesized by Pyrolysis of Cotton Fibers

  • Synthesis of carbon fibers from cotton fiber by pyrolysis process has been described. Synthesis parameters are optimized using Taguchi optimization technique. Synthesized carbon fibers are used for studying hydrogen adsorption capacity using Seivert's apparatus. Transmission electron microscopy analysis and X-ray diffraction of carbon fiber from cotton suggested it to be very transparent type material possessing graphitic nature. Carbon synthesized from cotton fibers under the conditions predicted by Taguchi optimization methodology (no treatment of cotton fiber prior to pyrolysis, temperature of pyrolysis $800^{\circ}C$, Argon as carrier gas and paralyzing time for 2 h) exhibited 7.32 wt% hydrogen adsorption capacity.

Purification and Characterization of Alliinase from Garlic of Korean Origin (한국산 마늘 alliinase의 분리 및 특성)

  • 마늘의 alliinase를 ammonium sulfate 분획과 hydroxylapatite chromatography, concanavalin A-Sepharose affinity chromatography에 의해 정제하여, 23% 의 회수율과 7.6배 정제도를 나타내었다(specific activity 116.6 units/mg). SDS-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis에서 단일 band를 나타내므로 순수한 aliinase 로 추측되며 이 효소의 분자량은 42K 로 추정된다. 기질로서 S-ethyl-L-cysteine sulfoxide를 사용한 이 효소의 $V_max$값은 2.27${\mu}$monl/mg.min이고 $K_m$은 1O mM이다 . 정제효소의 optimum pH는 6.5 phosphate buffer이며, 40$^{\circ}C$에서 최대활성을 나타내었다. Activation energy value($E^*$)는 4.6Kcal/mole로 추정된다.

Polymorphisms of KCNE1 Gene in Korean Population

  • Long QT Syndrome (LQT) is a congenital disease due to the failure of electrical system of the heart. We have analyzed KCNE1 gene which is known to be the cause of Type V LQT in Korean genome. Although SNPs of KCNE1 have been reported for Chinese and Malaysians no data are available for Korean people yet. PCR primers were prepared to investigate the sequences for normal and SNP at G30A, G112A, C162T. They were different only by 3' ends. Genomic DNAs were extracted from the people who were known to be normal clinically (35) or patients (20) with metabolic disease. As results, we were able to recognize several SNPs in these Korean samples. Some people were homozygous or heterozygous depending upon the type of SNP. This study should facilitate the research on the cause of Type VLQTs and to develop the further therapy at genetic level.

A Study Development of the Powder Metallurgy Method Using 400 Series Ferrite Stainless Steel ABS Sensor Ring (분말야금법을 이용한 400계열 페라이트 스테인레스강 ABS 센서 링 개발에 관한 연구)

  • ABS sensor ring has been manufactured by powder metallurgy (P/M) method using 400 series ferrite stainless steel. The results are following. It is supposedly sufficient to use for control computer due to good experimental results of magnetic characteristics. Compared with sensor ring made by iron, 400 series ferrite stainless steel has shown a good corrosion resistance without an addition surface treatment. Thus the decreasing production process has been obtained. As a result mechanical characteristics of hardness and tensile test, 400 series ferrite stainless steel shown a good endurance when it is combined to constant velocity joint(C/V), and has a good hardness properties endurable to sand and pebble impact. The products before sintering are much more corrodible in the condition of spray test of salt water and ammonia than humidity and nitrogen condition.
